This place is solid, especially as a late night option. Nothing is mind blowing but everything is good for sure. Solid burger tho a bit small. Decent flatbread. The pita is really good! Tacos are also very tasty. The shawarma is flavorful but was a little dry (and wish the portions were a bit bigger). Overall it's probably a 3.7-3.8 rating, so will round up to 4. Worth trying if you've never been, good local spot. People who work there were nice too. read more

I came here recently with a friend for dinner. We sat outside on the patio, which was so cute. We shared the hummus, and I had an Arabian bowl, which included Arabian salad, hummus, pita, and a choice of protein (I went with chicken shawarma). Everything was delicious and flavorful. Ive been in Zatar Cafe in Bushwick so many times. It always hits the spot. Service is always immaculate everyone who works there is super friendly and super knowledgable. ive dined in their outdoor patio duringthe summer and the wooden picnic tables and benches are a vibe. Solid middle eastern spot for big portions and lots of outdoor seating. Our server had a ton of energy and was adorable, could have his own tv show. I recently told someone that if I were to visit Zatar a million times, my favorite visit would still be on visit one million and one. From the first bite to my most recent, Zatar is still one of my most favorite restaurants and I still dream of their merguez melt whenever the weekend rolls around. Every item here is worth trying and whether you're here for lunch, dinner, brunch, coffee, dessert, you're leaving here satisfied. The kebabs, dips, and other mezze give you the authenticity of standard Middle Eastern fare while the flatbreads, sandwiches, and brunch items bring things forward. I've always enjoyed the kebabs with the beef being my favorite but the chicken shawarama is also stellar and consistent, but I keep going back for the merguez melt: I can't shake my cravings for the savory goodness of the merguez sausages on a perfectly flaky croissant with melty Swiss cheese tying things together blissfully. The service here is solid considering they get very busy with take out/delivery orders and patience should be key as the folks here bust their tails manning the counter, bussing tables, making coffee, and wearing several hats at once; if time is an issue, I would suggest ordering ahead. We got a Yemeni soufflé with eggs and ground beef, a flatbread, falafel sandwich, and an "Americano" (eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, toast, salad-- for a very hungry American!) Cozy place in Brooklyn. I will be back! Excellent flavor and points for a creative menu for those who want comfort food options (like my son). It was 6 of us and we ordered a few different options but all plates were empty by the end of the night which is always a great sign! From bacon cheeseburger, fries with zatar seasoning I believe, Arabian bowls, home style chicken nuggets and beef kebab, refreshing pink lemonade and apple juice and organic sodas with simple ingredients or organic teas. This place is a win win in my book. I was too full to try the desserts but I'll be back. Look walking around Brooklyn minding my business. You know I got hungry walking these city blocks. Saw this place as I passed by and it smelled and looked sooooo good! We gos salmon salad and grilled cheese (my husband) teas and some cheesecake. We got everything to go and cannot wait. Everyone was kind which was great ! And they say people in the city are not nice. Stay tuned for the final review of my food. Well my salmon salad was amazing! The seasoning on that fish was perfect. The dressing that came with was fantastic! The grill cheese was very good as well. The tea we had was delicious I had the best cheesecake too. This was a happy drop in! We got back from New Orleans and stopped here for late lunch. My husband and been here before with his brother and he said it was really good. So we said ok eff it, let's go. I honestly don't remember what I got now but it was definitely either the dijaj chicken or one of the red meat shwarma sandwiches. My husband got the chicken shwarma. I remember the flatbread was really good - nice crunch from the pistachio but could have done without the white sauce on top. , reminded me of the flatbread from this amazing Mediterranean place in Tucson. The shwarma sandwiches were also really - meat was tender, spiced perfectly, and the portion was perfect. I'm pretty sure I didn't finish mine. I also got a Yemeni tea, which is black tea with spices, which was amazing. It's not sweet but its got those flavors from the spices. I think I'll be having my tea with those spices from now on haha. It was a busy day and I guess they're busy all the time. We sat outside and it took a while for a waiter to come, take our order, bring us the food, and bring us the check. This is my absolute favorite spot for coffee. I often stop by with my pup in the mornings, and the lattes are incredible. The baristas really put care into each cup, and the result is always delicious. It's surprising how rarely this place is full--it's such a hidden gem. Their food is always fresh, too! read more

We really thought that the food was exceptional and the prices were reasonable at this spot in Bushwick. The "variety dip" combo appetizer was a great way to try their Hummus, Babaganoush and Muhammara (the latter of which stood out among three delicious dips). All of the coffees are great too, but the Yemeni bin coffee stands out. Our server(s) were friendly and happy to recommend / explain options. Loved the ambiance too. With that being said, that would have been enough to drop this to a 3 star review, but of course I had the dip trio-- Hummus, Babaganoush and Muhammara-- which was heavenly. The pita it came with was perfectly cooked and soft. We also had the chicken shawarma platter, which was flavorful and also perfectly cooked. Zatar is a great neighborhood Middle Eastern restaurant in Bushwick. A friend and I stopped by Zatar in Brooklyn on a weekday for lunch. There's plenty of seating in side, but we opted for the quieter patio. We went straight for the main dishes, ordering a shawarma sandwich and shawarma meal. The chicken is super juicy, and the seasoned fries were delicious! Highly recommend. Service was friendly and the food is clearly high quality. Nuzzled on a corner on the quiet 8th Ave in Park Slope, Zatar promises fresh Middle Eastern food with a comfortable seating area outside. First and foremost, don't leave without getting hommus and pita! The pita is warm and soft as a cloud and the hummus is the best. Be sure to save a bit of pita to have with your meal! As for meals, the chicken shawarma is my all time favorite, but I've been trying to switch it up lately. The chicken kabob platter is a large amount of food and is so simple yet so good. The chicken is tender and seasoned to perfection, the peppers and onions are thin sliced and add just the right color and texture. I love Zatar and hope to be back soon. read more

Amazing experience at Zatar. Met my cousin over lunch and was blown away by the level of service and the actual food. First we started with the variety dip. This was recommended by the server and it was delicious! The sweet chili one was great and potentially my fav. Since I was catching up with my cousin, I forgot to snap picture of the actual meal we ordered... but it was delish! However, I ordered the Yemeni Souffle. Think an omelet, with ground beef but middle eastern cooked and served in our traditional stone pot, served with pita. Amazing. I will definitely be back soon! read more

This is a cutely decorated restaurant. It certainly has a middle eastern vibe with some of the architecture and decorations highlighted in the photos below. You order at the front and can sit down in the ample space the restaurant has. I got the hummus appetizer and Shwarma sandwich. The sandwich was big, lots of chicken and quite filling. The hummus had a bit too much olive oil drizzled and the bowl wasn't very deep so it was finished quickly. A friend had the falafel and enjoyed his meal. Overall the food is decent. I gave the restaurant 4 stars because there was an upset customer in front of us and the restaurant worker was unable to address their needs. In fact, she made it worse by escalating the situation and it turned into a verbal altercation with the customer storming out of the restaurant yelling. It made everyone in the restaurant uncomfortable and almost made us turn around without ordering. I'm not sure if I can go back because of that situation. read more

I ordered the chicken kebab meal and the hummus & pita for delivery, and firstly, can we talk about their chicken's tenderness? Every bite was perfect, especially when dipped in the creamy accompanying tzatziki sauce! I tried to savor the feeling by alternating bites of the awesome marinated chicken and bites of the flavorful rice and onions. A small side salad came packaged separately as part of the kebab meal, and it looks good, but I haven't tried it yet; it's stashed in my fridge for later. The portion size of the chicken kebab meal was perfect for me, but I noticed there is also an option when ordering to get "extra chicken" for around $4 extra if you've a heavier appetite. The hummus came in a tub, about the same size as one you would buy in the supermarket, but unlike your typical supermarket hummus, it tastes super fresh. I am looking forward to continuing eating it and hopefully sharing it with friends. The single piece of fluffy pita that came with the hummus seemed a bit small in proportion to the hummus' quantity, but for my purposes, as one person chowing down, it did the trick; I'll add pita chips to my shopping list to enjoy with the rest of the hummus. This place is truly amazing. I miss they don't have like a beef or lamb schwarma meat log, but their chicken is really quite flavorful and juicy. How they got such large chunks so juicy is beyond me. I tried a few things out on the menu and loved them all. The chicken wrap is very big. They put so much chicken in it and it's a great deal. I got a pizza with their chicken on it and that was amazing too. Then I got the mezze sampler with hummus, baba ghanoush and some red pepper hummus type thing. It was really good too. Not a huge fan of the red pepper thing, but their baba was great. Got their fries with the wrap and I like the way they do them. Super crispy and with seasoning on it. They didn't provide any harissa aioli even though I asked for it, so that was a bummer. Maybe you have to pay for it or something? I got a side of harissa of my own and that was great too.
