I was invited to Za's on Devine part of a event. They have a parking lot in front of their restaurant. But if you cannot find parking there is also parking on the side streets. When I went in I told the hostess that we were part of the event. She then showed us where to go. There was a private room to the left of the restaurant. We then sat down at a table the waitress came right over and told us that we could go up for food shortly the staff was going to be putting out the food on along a long table. The staff was very polite to us and asked us if we needed anything to let them know. I could only comment on this in this review on what was offered to us from this event. They had a unlimited Pizza Buffet cookies and brownies and salad also they had pasta, sweet tea and water. We weren't able to order off the menu. But these items that were offered for this event we were told that they do have them on the menu as well as other things that weren't offered. I started off with the salad it was not bad at all it was fresh and tasted delicious. After moving on from that I moved on to the pizza it was also very delicious and unique with different types of toppings that they offered on it tasted very delicious as well as homemade. They also had dessert chocolate chip cookies they were a perfect touch. I am going to have to come back to this place and try their regular menu since there event that we had there was so good. read more

We ordered takeout for an early dinner...Caesar with chicken and what I thought was a Caprese salad, at least on the menu it's listed as such. The chicken that came with the Caesar was so heavily seasoned, it was inedible. And what was supposed to be a Caprese salad was four and a half thinly sliced, small tomatoes sprinkled with mozzarella and a bit of basil, sprinkled with more of the seasoning that made it also inedible. I ordered the carbonara pasta and breadsticks and the food was hot and flavorful. The carbonara is not super traditional, but it was really tasty. I believe it has cream in it, which is not the traditional way to cook it. That being said, it was tasty. Two sauces came with the breadsticks and the lighter colored sauce was way better and tasted somewhat of Pesto, whereas the other sauce was too sweet and some kind of marinara. Za's has been around Columbia since the end of the last century, and the fact that it's still operating says good things. And there are a lot of good things here starting with the people who work here. We showed up one recent evening with a couple of handicapped people as our guests. Rendell could not have treated any of us with any greater dignity and courtesy; he was a gem in getting us seated conveniently and quickly. And he made sure our server Collette was every bit as kind and helpful. We are much appreciative. Za's has always been fun to some degree because it has a lot of shaded outside seating (and dogs are welcome). But it also has a good beer and wine list and some good food including lots of varieties of brick-oven pizzas. Yum. We especially loved the charred okra, spinach and artichoke dip, the hummus and a couple of the aforementioned pizzas. We came away very happy. They opened at 11:00 a.m. We got there at 11:18 a.m., were seated immediately. Hostess was kind. We ordered soft drinks and each ordered a personal/small pizza. By 12:12 p.m. the pizzas still hadn't been served. We got up to ask for the manager. We were then told it was another 6-10 minutes. Not acceptable. No apology, no excuse provided. My 13 year old daughter and I went for a much needed dinner together, just the two of us. Brianna helped make our evening even more special. I have heard about Za's for years. My expectations were exceeded! We were able to get a table easily and the service was spectacular - fast, not too invasive, just right for a friend that I had not seen in years. I decided to try the pizza, since that's what I'd heard about so much and ordered an 8" cheese pizza. I lived in NYC for many years, so I know good pizza, but I also am not a pizza snob and this pizza was really nicely done. Just perfectly fired in the oven and the right amount of sauce and cheese. The 8" is perfect for 1. My friend ordered the pear salad, subbing out the chicken for salmon and it looked delicious. There are DEFINITELY enough options on the menu that everyone you dine with will find something they love. We were passing through for the night and found this place and decided to give them a try. I had the BLT Chicken Salad and my husband had an 8" pepperoni and onion pizza. He loved the pizza. It was the perfect size for one. My salad was large, but the chicken was really dry. Our server offered to get me another one, but they were so busy I didn't want to wait. She was kind enough to take 25% off of our ticket. Not expected but appreciated. The salad was loaded with bacon and tomatoes. The romaine was really sweet too. Got a tip off on the BLT salad from Fred that works at the mattress store next door. It was actually really good. The Gorgonzola cheese was a great add and the dressing was yummy. My partner got the BBQ pizza which he said was good but he also didn't finish it. The service was wonderful for my business partner and I. It was right before dinner so it wasn't busy which I prefer because 4-5 pm I can never find parking so we came around 3 pm for Pi day. I love their cauliflower crust pizza so that's always my go to. My daughter got a kids cheese pizza and I got the choose four and got sausage pepperoni and feta cheese and bacon as my toppings. It was $15 which isn't bad for cauliflower crust pizza and it's a decent size compared to others I've had. With crush red peppers it was so good. My baby loved hers because she finished the whole pizza lol and hers was only $5. I'm definitely going to always come when I need a pizza. The establishment is also clean and well kept from what I could see. I can't remember my waitress name but she was really sweet and helped me with pricing of the pizza I chose because it was different from online which we figured was from a technical error that she mentioned to her manager. I've heard great things about this place that I had to come check it out. Parking was plenty and the wait since we came in early was easy! But from what I've heard it gets pretty busy. We did have to wait around a while so wish that was different but other than that the wings we got were so yummy without the sauce and the side sauce was an added flavor. I've passed by this place many a time to go to Arabesque next door. But I enjoy a good Brick Oven/wood-fire pizza, so I thought I'd give Za's a try. The Cajun Green beans are great. They are blistered from the fire, but still have some crunch (not cooked to mush) and the seasoning is tasty. The Napa pizza was good. I'll definitely order it again. It was definitely made even more delicious by the addition of perfectly crumbled bacon. Yum! And I love baby Arugula, so that combined with the lemony oil drizzled on top was just perfection. So why 4 stars and not 5? I'm putting this squarely on the kitchen. The pizza was good, but crust isn't flavorful enough on its own to make me want to eat it. I actually asked for a side of marinara to dip my crust in, didn't end up eating much of it. Plus, they were super busy - but it took over an hour to get my food. My Green beans (appetizer) came out at same time as my entree. So I definitely think there was maybe some poor time management in the kitchen. My recent venture, however, was soo good it is review-worthy. I got a small pizza with artichokes, tomatoes, and smoked cheese. The prices can be a bit higher than neighboring places, but I think they do a really good job of making up for that with quality eats. Visited during a beautiful warm evening in early March--had to be high 70s. We had attempted to visit the Hickory Tavern right down the road unfortunately they had a 30-minute wait and no seating available at the bar. Just guessing but they looked under-staffed due to the many uncleared tables witnessed. So we moved on to Za's on Devine. We were quickly seated, however it was right next to the live act for a Friday evening the Saxophone player. We tried, but had to request that our server move us outside. Nothing against the Sax player, while adroit and artistic, he was substantially too loud for my taste. We enjoyed his dexterous playing but from 50 feet away! Our server was very helpful and fully understood. I enjoyed the Whitehaven Savignon Blanc. The meatball sliders were so tasty I had to allow the bod to be kicked out of Ketosis...yum! I tried to get back on track with the Brussel Sprout app as an entree but I admit the sweetness was also not part of my Keto plan, but succulent none the less. We also enjoyed a small pizza.
