They managed to not only give me the wrong food, but even the part that was right (lamb biryani) was no good; it was full of bones to the point of being dangerous to eat as many of the bones were very small. This place made me beyond upset. First, four guys came right behind and were sat before me. No big deal it's about 11:30 PM and I thought that they were going to spend more money than me because I was dining alone. The worst part, the lady that took my order completely forgot to put in my order. After waiting for about 30 minutes I went up to the counter and asked her what heads happened to my order she tried to make up an excuse that my meal took a long time because my food was made fresh or something crazy like that. This place is amazing! The Baba Ganoush was smoky, large portion for small plate. Cucumber salad was flavorful. We had the Vegetarian Saltah and Chicken Agda, with basmati rice and bread. All very tasty, nice portions. The atmosphere was warm, inviting. Definitely recommend! read more

I went to this restaurant and a recommendation from a friend. The Atmosphere seemed slightly unclean and runNed down, but we felt that some of those establishments have the best food! The food was good but the experience I had with the gratuity is why I am writing this review. We paid for our dinner with a credit card and left a 20% tip in a white box by the register Marked "tips". The waitr even commented "no tip" when we did not leave the tip on the credit card and we told her that we left cash. The next day upon reviewing my credit card statement I noticed that a $25 gratuity was added to my bill. I cal The restaurant and they were unwilling to help and spoke little English so I tried to dispute it with my credit card but I did not get a receipt. The waitress ended up with a $45 tip. I am writing this review and hopes that other people do not get ripped off by a waitress who feels that she deserves a tip and then will take it upon herself to add her own gratuity. Watch out for how this business does business. There are many wonderful restaurants out there. This is not one of them. read more

My wife and I try a new food at a restaurant every New Years day and this year was Yemeni food at Shibam. Well it has quickly become a favorite as we have returned 2 more times since then and are looking forward to becoming regulars. The food is amazing. The place is kept very clean and the service is always very friendly. The Mutapq appetizer with lamb or chicken is phenomenal and we order one every time. The mandi lamb was excellent and tender and we are looking forward to trying more of the chicken dishes. Highly recommend getting the lamb Fahsa Curry which is served bubbling in a clay pot with delicious bread to dip into the meat. You can get this mild or spicy (recommend spicy if you like it). We have enjoyed this place so much we are now bringing some of our neighbors for dinner to enjoy as well. I highly recommend Shibam. read more

If I were to give a restaurant, more than 5 stars for their specialties, this would place is the list. Every time I come here, I feel, I hadn't enough. Born in family of Indian and Arab origins, I have had the taste of both worlds and I can safely say, this is one of the best restaurant foods, I have had. The service and the staff is warm welcoming and the place is very energetic. I would give a big shout out to Ahlam since I have known her the longest coming here. Don't fail to order the Fahsa chicken curry and consider getting the arika, which is a dessert unlike any other I've experienced. It was mashed dates and wheat topped with clotted cream and honey. It's not too sweet, unless you like it sweet and you can just scoop more honey with each bite. Very affordable prices given that everything is fresh and housemade. The lamb mandi, the most popular dish, is slow-simmered lamb shanks and rice. Also very good, but with less of the unique-to-Yemen spices involved. The people who work here are friendly and kind and there is plenty of space so nobody feels crowded! read more

It was 5 stars but now it's 1. I used to LOVE going to this place but will ABSOLUTELY avoid it as I've had numerous bad experiences on numerous occasions. This place was amazing till the time they weren't busy and as soon as they started getting a lot more business, their service deteriorated and screw ups in orders. Let me say the chicken fahsa was AMAZING! Hands down the best Arabic food dish I have had in a restaurant. We also had lahma haneeth, chicken kabsa, and chicken mashwe, which were good also. However, the service by the waitress was HORRIBLE. The waitress was slow, to the point that we had to call her over each time we needed something and she was snippy when we would call for her. If she checked in on the table, we wouldn't need to say "excuse me, ma'am" several times. The fahsa was brought out with just one piece of bread to share among 5 people. When we asked for more bread, the waitress never came back with bread (but she remembered to charge us for it). She did not write our order down when we first ordered and brought out the wrong dish (lahma kabsa instead of chicken kabsa) and we had to wait an additional 30 mins for the correct dish (which by that time we were full). We then waited an additional 20 mins for her to bring the bill, which she didn't come back so we had to call for her. When we tried to get her attention, she shouted "I'll be there!" in a very rude and snappy way. We asked for our bill and boxes and could here her complaining that we asked for a box (we needed one because the food came late as mentioned above). Then was irritated that we told her not to charge us for the bread she never brought out. Absolutely horrible service. They also charged us gratuity which they included in the bill without us knowing. Food was great but does not overcome the rude and unprofessional service. read more

My parents ordered the food but usually you know the difference between the meals you eat but I was beyond confused.
