a man talking on the phone
Jon F.

Was looking for a particular product and asked for customer service to call back with and answer. They said they would find the information later that day and call back the next day on where to purchase their product. There was an audible "TISK and SIGH" during the conversation. I never got a call. (Kinda' figured) Returning a call the next day myself, nothing had been looked into for me. Candy okay. Sorry Zack... Staff ZERO.

Once you enter you are hit by a wave of chocolate goodness that honestly made my mouth salivate! They had a ton of options from chocolate covered marshmallows, pretzels, Oreos and various candies all dipped or coated in chocolate. We browsed a bit and then the very friendly staff helped us with options. We bought a pound of the covered ones and got a huge assortment which come in both dark and milk chocolate. The amazing thing too is that they hand dip everything! It is a family owned spot that has been around forever, so they know their chocolate! Biting into the cream filled center my first thought was that this chocolate was amazing, and super thick. They did not skimp on the coating which I so appreciate. The filling was plenty and you almost didn't have to eat more than one to feel full, they were that full of taste. Delicious! If you are out this way check them out as you won't find this kind of chocolate store anywhere else close by for sure!

The sodas are served with rabbit-turd ice (unquestionably the best kind of ice). And they are made with real syrups and stirred together, like they used to do back in the olden days when the world was black and white, and the people behind the counter creating your drink were called soda jerks. You can also order a soda with other flavors stirred in, like butterscotch, chocolate, cucumber, cherry, lavender and the like, plus phosphates, floats, malts, Italian cream sodas, dirty sodas, freezes, tea, lemonade, ice cream scoops, sundaes and shakes. If it's sweet and you can drink it or let it melt in your mouth, they can probably make it here for you behind the soda counter at McCord Candies. You'll also find candy and chocolates, of every variety and permutation imaginable. Many of the candies and chocolates are made in-house, like their candy canes, which you can see being made right in front of you around the holidays. If you like sweets, you will find something here. Take your goodies to go, or you can go upstairs and enjoy them where there are a few tables and a nice view of the candy store below. There are also some vintage clothing and knickknacks for sale that you can peruse.

From chamoy pineapple to Dr. Pepper (I do not recommend) -- there were so many options!! Out of everything I tried, the gummy sushi platters were my all-time favorite! But I highly recommend picking up something new to go along with it... just make sure it isn't the Chocolate Bacon soda or Salted Black Licorice. I'd only wish those on my enemy :)

Rocket fizz has 2 locations that I am familiar with. One in Plainfiekd and one in Downtown Indy. I love both locations but downtown on the circle was our choice. When the monument isn't under construction I love walking the steps. We parked a block away and walked back. And once inside we were in candy heaven. We spent alot of time perusing. Because their were so many choices it was hard for my grandson to decide until the store clerk mentioned she just made some grab bags. Excited he was. They were pricey but it was for the fun of it all for him. It has been a while since we've gone but he still talks about our visit. And for me, the memories are worth every dollar spent.

It's a candy and snack joint! You will definitely find something for everyone here. Hoosier Cupboard is located in downtown Franklin, in a cute little house that also looks like a train depot. Across the way is some sort of train thing, so I'm sensing a theme. My children got an ice cream cone (Blue Moon) and a scoop of chocolate ice cream in a cup. They have kids' sizes, which is appreciated. I am not an ice cream person, so I got two hand-dipped peanut butter cups, one for each hand: one milk chocolate, and the other dark chocolate. Both were delicious! We ate our treats at a table on the outdoor patio. There is lots of outdoor seating, and zero indoor seating. So, your options are to sit outside or get your goodies to go. The people who work here are polite and patient, which is also appreciated. You know how it goes when you visit a sweets shop with kids -- they can't make up their mind about what they want. But the people behind the counter were very kind and waited with the utmost patience while my children made their decision about which ice cream flavor to choose.

This is the home base for Wolf's, though they do also have a location in nearby West Lafayette. Wolf's has been in business for over a half century, though they've mostly lived in the shadow of other familiar Indiana chocolatiers. They use a handmade process in their Attica factory. Located in an easy to miss building near the National Guard Armory on U.S. 41 (which is known as Council Street in Attica), Wolf's also offers shopping online and they have some of their chocolates available at A Taste of Indiana here in Indianapolis. I'm sitting here having devoured a Fine Milk Chocolate Crisp (think Nestle Crunch but a zillion times better). Four servings? Who are they kidding. I ate the whole thing without regrets. Wolf's offers box chocolates, specialty size chocolates, caramel corn, candy bars, chews, pan-crafted chocolates, holiday chocolates (especially Valentine's Day and Christmas season), fudge, baskets, and more. The candy bars typically come it right about $3 - I personally think this is an amazing price for quality chocolate locally made. Custom boxes vary in size from 8-pieces to 48-pieces and you can create your own. Prices are fair - in fact, I'd say quite good. The people are friendly even during the holiday rush. The tradition is as rich as the chocolate and I'm just delighted that I can find them here in Indy not too far from my northeast side home. While some of the bigger names charge MUCH more, Wolf's simply makes wonderful chocolate at a fair price. I'm a big fan and highly recommend.
