I remember stopping in to Wolf's Fine Chocolates during one of my Tenderness Tour events that took me through Attica. This is the home base for Wolf's, though they do also have a location in nearby West Lafayette. Wolf's has been in business for over a half century, though they've mostly lived in the shadow of other familiar Indiana chocolatiers. They use a handmade process in their Attica factory. Located in an easy to miss building near the National Guard Armory on U.S. 41 (which is known as Council Street in Attica), Wolf's also offers shopping online and they have some of their chocolates available at A Taste of Indiana here in Indianapolis. I'm sitting here having devoured a Fine Milk Chocolate Crisp (think Nestle Crunch but a zillion times better). Four servings? Who are they kidding. I ate the whole thing without regrets. Wolf's offers box chocolates, specialty size chocolates, caramel corn, candy bars, chews, pan-crafted chocolates, holiday chocolates (especially Valentine's Day and Christmas season), fudge, baskets, and more. The candy bars typically come it right about $3 - I personally think this is an amazing price for quality chocolate locally made. Custom boxes vary in size from 8-pieces to 48-pieces and you can create your own. Prices are fair - in fact, I'd say quite good. The people are friendly even during the holiday rush. The tradition is as rich as the chocolate and I'm just delighted that I can find them here in Indy not too far from my northeast side home. While some of the bigger names charge MUCH more, Wolf's simply makes wonderful chocolate at a fair price. I'm a big fan and highly recommend. read more

Very cute little store of handmade chocolates. They had so many varieties of chocolate and often had both milk chocolate and dark chocolate options of the same item. My favorite was probably the chocolate covered blueberries. For one, they are so pretty ! Additionally, they have a tart/sweet taste that makes it difficult to stop at just one. Lol. I bought a box of chocolates for myself (got lots of milk chocolate toffees) and some strawberry cream, orange cream and lots of others. I also got a Christmas gift of a milk chocolate and white chocolate star sucker for my friend ($1.75) and a chocolate Santa for her son ($3.75). The building is adorable. It even has the word WOLF spelled out on the roof. Parking is easy and the staff was pleasant. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area. read more

Road tripped with a GF to her hometown and this was our first stop on the "old home" tour. The young lady behind the counter patiently tended to our separate orders, each an amalgam of several different kinds of their dark chocolate candies. I basically got either 4 pieces or 1/4 lb (6 pieces) each of six different dark chocolate candies: raspberry, strawberry and lemon cream; peppermint patties; haystack (grated coconut); and black walnut clusters. My order came to $29 w/tax, again for what was about a pound-and-a-quarter of my own customized mix. I'm having a a hard time deciding which are my faves, they are all so good. While I'm a sucker for chocolate and raspberry, such creams can be cloyingly sweet. Theirs isn't, but rather has a nice tart/sweet balance, as does the dk chocolate strawberry cream. Those might have to be my two faves :) My candies were placed 2 kinds per inner bag, and the gal took it upon herself to separate the 3 creams and pair them with something else obvious so I could differentiate easily. This was in addition to the little insignia on top of each candy type that clues one in to what's inside. I'm enjoying one/day (or more!) with evening tea or maybe a decadent morning coffee. Great chocolates, truffles, and nut clusters in both milk and dark chocolates. They also have locally-roasted coffee (from Lafayette). Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. read more

I found this place totally by accident while driving home on the I-41. If the description shows as "$$$$, ultra-high-end," no, it's not. Prices are about $25 a pound, which is in line with other small chocolatiers. This isn't Jacques Torres, but it's not Russell Stover either. They sell chocolates and coffee; there is a small assortment of sugar-free; some dipped marshmallows, etc., small packets of Jelly Bellys for a dollar, plastic bags of various types of chews (they were out of butterscotch; the cinnamon's quite nice) and a selection of chocolates in milk, white or dark. Service was friendly (I arrived 5 minutes after close and they served me anyway) and the kitchen in back features a giant marble slab and 100 year old copper cooking kettles. The chocolates are a bit too sweet for me, but this is usually the case, and I'm quite partial to the chocolate-dipped toffee. read more

Although I've never set foot in the store, I love Wolf's. One of my co-workers has family in the area and this is a must visit stop every time she goes home. Now that she's gotten us all hooked, she takes orders and brings us bags of chocolate delights. My parents grew up in this area, so I spent many summers vacationing around Attica and am very familiar with Wolf's Chocolates. My family lives in California, and this year we were unable to get our usual chocolates from our west coast favorite. The Sunday before Easter, I thought of Wolf's and wondered whether they would ship to California. Not only do they, but they also offer a large selection and even allowed us to pick the chocolates we wanted for the Custom Build a Box! We went a little wild and purchased everything from a large boxed assortment to an Easter egg, a few varieties of fudge and a couple bags of caramel corn. We were so excited to have access to quality chocolates, we would have been happy even if they had arrived after Easter. But, they were in the mail the following day and arrived well before Easter. And everything is as delicious as we remembered! You should definitely stop in to one of their stores and enjoy some of their delicious confections (the Toffee-Almond Butter and Molasses Chips are to die for)! I also found this place quite by accident, on my way to Terre Haute. The quality of the product is exceptional, and I especially like the selection of diabetic candies. My family makes it a point to stop there whenever we go through town, after checking out some of the historic architecture in this quaint location. I have been a life long lover of Wolf's chocolates having grown up in Attica, IN. Anytime I am visiting the area I always make sure to stop in and buy a pound. This time, however, I was highly disappointed. It tastes like something has changed with their recipe. The flavor of their chocolates is not the same. The vanilla bon bons are one of my favs but they had no flavor this time. My family also has the same opinion. Not sure what has happened to their chocolates. read more

I love this place! ! My grandparents lived nearby in Wingate and every (I mean every single) time I went to visit them we stopped at Wolf's for candy. As a kid that's how I knew that we were close. As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for". With this said I will make one correction...with Wolf's Homemade Candies you get so much more than what you pay for. I am a professed chocoholic. Wolf's is one of my favorites. I've tried many of their varieties and love them all. It's a great company.

I purchased 2 dozen black walnut clusters in June for a friend's birthday. She now tells me when she received the box of chocolates they were melted "flat". She goes on to tell me that she contacted customer service regarding this issue and their response was, "What do you expect, it's summer." Extremely disappointing. read more
