I love Igloo Frozen Custard, as it holds so many memories from my childhood going with family. Whenever I am in Lafayette, the Igloo is my favorite place to grab ice cream or a drink. The drive through is super convenient. My go to order is vanilla custard with marshmallow, strawberries, whip cream and pecans. I also love to order a marshmallow Coke; I know that sounds like an odd combination but it's my favorite. Their marshmallow sauce is the perfect consistency. Another favorite staple is their fruit drink. read more

Hours are wrong. People coming back to Lafayette from out of town and want to visit appreciated correct hours and both locations off 350 have the wrong hours listed. read more

Usually good food, really good ice cream and shakes, service is usually decent, nothing to say for ambiance, I it's drive thru or the patio.

My experience with this place has been amazing and food is good by the way! My only problem is it's cold outside and I see workers out till 9, I feel bad for the workers. As a loyal customer of 2 years when will you be closing at 8 again? read more

They have a drive-thru! Actually, their drive-thru is the only thing that is open right now, which sucks if you wanted to get ice cream but you also needed to use the restroom (hashtag covid, hashtag first-world-problems). So: Restroom, no. Ice cream (actually, frozen custard), yes. They also have food like burgers, chicken tenders, cheese curds -- if you're familiar with the food at Culver's, you'll be familiar with Igloo's menu. We only got frozen custard during our visit: a Turtle Sundae (vanilla frozen custard, hot fudge, caramel, pecans), an Aunt Kathy's Dirt Sundae (Oreo frozen custard, crushed Oreos, gummy worms), and a Rocky Road Sundae (chocolate frozen custard, marshmallow fluff and peanuts). We all enjoyed our sundaes, and I especially appreciated that they toasted the pecans on my sundae. It's the little details like that that really put a place over the top, you know? read more

After waiting in the drive thru line for over 5 mins and not moving we got out of line and decided to go in. When we reached the door, it had a piece of paper on the door that said inside is closed. So we left and didn't get back into the line. Never had their food so I can't rate it now. Poor service if you ask me. Won't be back read more

The shop is so cute and charming. While waiting for my fries my milkshake was so good I basically chugged it. The fries I ordered were amazing. Can't recommend the chocolate milkshake more it's the best one I've ever had honestly. read more

Bought my kids a snow cone? Frozen ice pellets with syrup? At least they should crush the ice! This is not a snow cone. Maybe the ice cream is ok? Who knows? Wouldn't want to try it after this. Oh another thing wanted fries but kitchen closes early also even though it was 8:30. read more

Igloo Frozen Custard - a person holding a cup - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - Lafayette, Indiana

Just went there tonight at 8:45. (Supposed to be open till 9:30) Told the girl at the window my order (she looked thrilled..NOT). In my order I requested cheese curds. She put in my entire order and then paused. Looked at the computer with a frustrated face, Walked over to a door way and started talking to someone I couldn't see. She laughed and came back to the window to say "sorry, I guess our kitchen decided to close." Sooooo, I canceled my entire order and left. Guess the guy in the back decided he didn't want to make the cheese curds. Very disappointing. Can't stand places that are lazy on when and what they feel like making for you. read more

Well for one thing it's open, therefore it's better than the original frozen custard however the inside was not permitted for guest and I had a poop alert. The bushes sufficed. Kinda a bummer you know. At least the vanilla custard and black raspberry sherbet custard was pretty thoroughly solid. The people that worked here provided the ice cream so that was a huge plus. Kinda like the Switzerland flag. Big fan of the neon lights and sign. Again, a little bummed that the straw and spoon handles weren't lit up. I bet the place is HOPPING in the summer. It's where all the cool kids would hangout. You can judge a lot of things from the water a restaurant serves to its customers. There is no monetary incentive to provide a good cup of aqua. If a restaurant cares about their customers, sees them as humans, then the water is good. This water was delightful. It was crisp. It was clear. It was frigid. It rejuvenated my soul. The straw was smaller than average, but as a short white male, I found it to be something I could relate to. I would come here again for the water alone. read more

I drove through and asked what was good on the menu and the young men working the window told me that the potato wedges and cheese burgers were good. So that is what I ordered, When I first tasted the cheese burger I knew I made the right choice. That was the best cheese burger I have had in a good long time. I don't know if it is true but the tomato on the sandwich tasted like it came right out of the garden, Thank you !!!!! read more

Pretty good frozen custard! I tried the dark chocolate raspberry. The raspberries were frozen and had a weird texture. I would be back to try their other flavors. I even picked up a pup cup for my dog! It was a dog biscuit sandwich with vanilla ice cream. My pup loved it! read more

Holy yum, the chopsteak cheeseburger and fries are tasty! Per recommendation of the nice guy behind the counter(whose grandfather started the business in 1932!), we also tried a "dirt sundae" with vanilla frozen custard, gummy worms, oreos and whipped cream. Another overwhelming yum! He was noce enough to let us taste the chocolate custard, too - they make their own cocoa for it and it is delicious! Highly recommend for a good burger, fries and frozen treat. read more

If I could put a zero I would! I got an Oreo shake and it was horrible!!! I legit threw it away had about three bites hoping it'd get better but it was so watery it was gross! read more

I just got a small blue slushee from this place and within minutes I know in my heart that this is the absolute BEST blue slushee that has ever reached my mouth. Words simply cannot describe how majestic this slushee tastes. It must have been made with the blood, sweat, and tears of Jesus Christ himself. Trust me, this is no overestimation. This is purely the number one slushee in the whole world and nothing else quite compares. I wish that every person would try one from the Lafayette Igloo and be blessed. Indulge my fellow slushee buccaneers. read more

Good burger and tenderloin. Good-sized portion of chicken tenders, onion rings, and coney fries. First visit (well, we ordered through a delivery service), pleased, and will likely order again. One tip: Perhaps you can put condiments separately in a bag or box, not inside the food containers. read more

The best custard and/ or Ice cream you'll ever have. Also love their flavored drinks and their food. A Lafayette tradition, always a great experience!!! read more

Seriously not my favorite ice cream/custard. The vanilla is good. If I had to choose between this or anywhere else, I would go anywhere else. Even getting my own ice cream from Wally World. I've given them a few tries and the last time was the last time I'll go. Not really sure why their fruit drink is so popular either. But rock on if you like it. You can have mine too :) read more

I mean who doesn't love a jumbo sized fountain drink?! They are known for their fruit drink, but I'm telling ya... add marshmallow to any fountain pop and you'll be in love! My favorite is a root beer with 2 shots of marshmallow of course, the custard is good too! read more

Frozen Custard Igloo is a sister location to the long-standing Frozen Custard next to Columbian Park. This Igloo has an indoor seating area as well as an outdoor seating area with a walk up service window. A drive-thru is also available. The expanded kitchen offers more flavors of frozen custard than the original, and an expanded food menu. You can still get the standard flavors, fruit drink, and nut bars sold at the original location. UPDATE: My previous review was not kind to the food items that are served. I stopped in for lunch recently and found the food items have improved. Billy Burgers are a new item on the menu. Served on a pretzel roll bun with a variety of interesting combinations of toppings. Fried egg available by request! There is a HUGE assortment of sides. Besides the usual fries or onion rings, you can sub in mozzarella sticks, zucchini sticks, and a list of other things so long I can't remember them all. I feel comfortable suggesting Igloo as a good choice for a meal, as well as the always excellent frozen custard. read more

By the time I got my chicken lettuce salad my ice cream was melted

Offering both a drive thru and dining options, the hardest thing about visiting the Igloo is trying to decide on your order. The fruit drink is always a popular option, a blend of orange, lemon and lime, but their fountain drinks are just as impressive and you can add just about any flavor to make it your own. I tried the blueberry shake that had plenty of fresh blueberries added to the mix for a perfect summer treat. They also have an extensive selection of frozen custard treats along with sandwiches, burgers, chicken tenders and other fried foods as well. read more

Ice cream is okay, but not as good as it used to be. The cookies are awful. They were so hard that my sons could hardly chew them. Stay away from them! Dirt Sundae was always my favorite, but it definitely does not taste like the same custard as it used to be. Good vanilla cokes! read more

The drive thru is literally the slowest (they don't take your order until you're at the window), but there are so many tasty treats that are worth the wait!! The custard sandwich is a recent fav (two choc chip cookies with custard in between) and my long time fav is the peanut butter fudge sundae! read more

During quarantine we wanted to walk here and get a drink. Knowing that it was drive through only we called ahead to see if we could do some sort of pick up situation. The worker over the phone was happy to take our order and said that once we arrived, to knock on the patio window and we could get our order there! Once we arrived we did just that, there were even signs that said the patio was for pick up only. Regardless of the fact that we were there for a pick up order, an older man (who we believe to be the manager) yelled at us in a rude tone saying that the patio was closed. We explained to him the situation and that we had called ahead and he huffed saying they're not even going to know you're here... after we got our drinks, they were not mixed well (they had marshmallow in them so it's usually not mixed) so we opened our cups to mix in the marshmallow. That same man came out and again yelled at us saying "you can't stay here the patio's closed". We responded saying we were just mixing our drinks because they weren't done properly and instead of apologizing he just said oh and walked away. We always enjoy Frozen Custard and wanted to support local businesses and be healthy and walk but instead of asking if we had a pick up order, he attacked us like we were misbehaving children. We will no longer be supporting this location. read more

Really not happy with my experience there last Saturday evening. I ordered a medium sundae, I was charged for a medium, but was given a small. They didn't ask if I wanted any whip cream or nuts on it. Nothing. I was hoping to make this an after Purdue Football game treat, but will go somewhere else to start that tradition. read more

I love the Vanilla Coke that will satisfy my caffeine craving for the whole day. I do not eat much here besides their ice cream, but I do love their ice cream cones. read more
