I ordered their Livers & Gizzards, because it's really hard for places to mess those up. But they were out of Livers & Gizzards, so I tried a new item they were featuring, their Southern Fried Catfish. It was spicy, which made it nearly inedible to me. (Why do cooks always think anything fishy or southern has to be spicy?) It also smelled and tasted like the grease was very old and hadn't been changed in a long time. (The same old problem I experienced before.) I know this issue isn't a statewide Church's problem, because I have bought Livers & Gizzards at the Church's on the other side of Independence, and they didn't taste like they were made with old grease. So that particular problem has to be the choice of this franchise manager. Not too happy with the noise level inside, either. This place has a few tables inside in addition to its drive-through, but it's still fairly small. But for some reason the staff shouts instructions to each other, and so when I've been there I have to shout at them to be heard, even if I'm pulled up to the window or standing inside at the counter. Oh, well. At least I'll know not to go there again. I've given them several chances over the years and every time have been disappointed. Not a pleasant place to go. I wish we had a DQ there instead, or a Sarpino's.
