We got married here and while it was a beautiful place and everyone at our wedding had a blast I as the bride was left with a bad taste in my mouth. The reason for one star: they ruined our sand ceremony keepsake. Once the reception started our gifts, cards and sand kit was placed inside. Once the party was over they lock up. Understandable it's someone's home. That's when I realized our sand kit with our sand keepsake was locked inside. I asked if we can go grab it and they refused. Ok again I understand that it's someone's house but none of the staff or anyone working there offered to go back inside and grab it. I asked when can we get it and They said Monday! Wedding was on a Saturday and We're from Phoenix so it's a bit of a drive. So we drive back to the mansion to pick it up and they left the box on the porch. I grab it and opened it up and they had turned the box upside down so the sand was falling out and it got all mixed up! Now every time I look at our keepsake I'm reminded of how terrible they were to us and how they had no consideration for our belongings. Just throw it outside on the porch. I got married at the Z Mansion in March 2013. Perfect weather for an outdoor wedding in Tucson. The team at the Z mansion was wonderful. Responsive to all emails and very helpful. It is all inclusive so the price includes most of the vendors you need but most importantly they do not charge you all of the little extras like cutting the cake and uncorking the wine. June 1st outdoor wedding and reception in Tucson? Sounds miserable right? But at Z Mansion, the outdoor area is beautiful and shaded and fans and portable A/C units make it not only manageable but really pleasant! The mansion itself is beautiful but the actual venue is all about the back patio with the tree canopies and little twinkling lights. I really enjoyed my time there last night and the food was really good. We were treated to appetizers of fresh fruit kabobs and mac 'n cheese with various toppings. The bar had a decent selection of beer and wine and a few liquors along with 5 different margarita mixers - the highlights for me were the mango and the prickly pear. Dinner was rolls & butter (soft butter! Nothing worse than a pat of rock hard butter), salad, sliced beef brisket, green bean almondine and garlic gouda mashed potatoes. Fabulous! Z Mansion does all their own food and they do a great jod. The banquet staff was polite and unobtrusive which is really nice when attending such an event. read more

Daughters wedding was held here. Place is very nice. The DJ was terrific, as was the celebrant.The low rating is because: They changed caterers and meal was lousy. It's great to be able to bring your own liquor BUT, the have several odd rules, such as hard liquor MUST be mixed with something. They did not bring out the champagne to the table for toast, quests had to get their own!! The photographer package was somewhat misleading. The WORST was the limo driver ( married to photographer and took pictures himself). He clearly didn't like what he was doing. When we went to leave ( at the end of the night after all was closed up) he refused to move the limo out of the driveway , because the bride and groom were 10 minutes late. Yay! Thanks Trianna for reminding me that I need to YELP and review my own wedding venue! Yes, I got married @ Z Mansion over the Memorial Day Weekend and it was the perfect place for us! My husband and I are wedding minimalist. We had 3 operating principles: 1) we want to pay as little as possible for the wedding; 2) we want to do as little as possible for the wedding; and 3) we want our guests to have as much fun as possible. Z Mansion has gone above and beyond all our requirements. Z Mansion offers 3 wedding packages and we went with the cheapest Romance package with a couple add-ons. We upgrade our meal and desert options (with Rincon Market), get two wedding photographers (Nancy + Jack Dodson), rent a projector for slideshow (DJ Jim), get our own alcohol (Bartender 101), and pay for the linens and centerpiece (Lovely Linen). For 108 guests, the total cost is still less than some hideous wedding dress spotted on Say Yes to the Dress. All the vendors with Z Mansion are wonderfully experienced, flexible, and nice people. My husband and I had some crazy ideas for the wedding to make it fun and non-conventional. Everyone we talked to at Z Mansion was so supportive and encouraging to help us carry out our ideas. Can't recommend this venue. The pluses first pretty outdoor setting. Food was OK. They are very fast in switching from theater seating to reception tables. BUT when we first looked at the place we were told they used fans to keep the area cool. On the day of the wedding the fans were $250 to turn on. No one seemed to be in charge, questions were passed around to the DJ or the kitchen. the power went out 3 times. read more

My brother got married here on June 8th and it was beautiful! Of course it's June in Tucson and it's an outside venue, so it was a bit hot, but the tree coverage over the ceremony really made the difference. You really have to see pictures and check this place out for yourself to appreciate the beauty. It's quant and romantic. My brother and sister-in-law chose this place because it's all-inclusive. The venue, photographer, caterer, florist, etc. come as a package deal. You get to pick between different people for the photographer, catering, etc. It turned out to be a great deal and everything turned out great. I believe the family that owns this mansion still lives here. We got ready in an upstairs bedroom and there were pictures hanging of the family. The mansion itself is gorgeous. The only downside to this place is that it is by the train tracks. Hello - you get married downtown, you're asking for some train noise. A train passed by during the ceremony and we just paused for a minute when it got loud. Our family/friends are very laid-back so we all just laughed it off and joked around while it was passing. It's just something to consider if you would get upset over a train passing by in the middle of you saying your vows. We had a great time at Z Mansion and I would recommend this venue to anyone. While getting caught up in the heatwave of the Tucson, I ended up here as it was the climax of my trip. I had to go a wedding here, deep in the heat of summer... in the middle of August. It was nice, I was expecting something more sprawling - since it was a mansion... but the place had a nice charm. It felt like you were going to a wedding at someone's house, and that had a nice feel for an intimate wedding. Bartender was nice and friendly, however, they have a no shots policy. This can be a great concern. I don't know how much was paid for the wedding - but I would recommend getting someone to orchestrate the wedding, if you choose to do it here. read more

My daughter got married here in October of 2010. It was a great venue for us as we had to plan the wedding more than a year ahead of time. We used the vendors that were available on site and were quite pleased. Hochevar's did the catering and were great. My daughter was the farthest thing from a bride-zilla that you will ever find. She told the flower people that they were the expert and she trusted them to do something lovely. They did. Flowers were creative but still elegant. I think our guest had a great time and that was the goal. I only have 2 reasons for not giving 5 stars. They are the carpet in the front entry hallway could use some updating. We had a minor issue with the chair set up for the ceremony. I final got my way and was pleased. I have 2 more daughters to marry off and would use this venue again. read more

I just attended a wedding at Z Mansion and it was absolutely beautiful! It was the perfect evening and everything done really highlighted the unique beauty of this historic spot. The wedding was in the courtyard and it was really magical!! The soft lights, the flowers, a flowing fountain, the beautiful trellis...all very elegant. I really don't like the way three stars look, but this place falls somewhere between Yelp's description of "A-OK" and "I'm a fan!" Both are true, so 3-and a half? Alright.. So, we're getting married! Yay, go us. We stopped in here on a trip down from Phoenix. They do an Open House every Wednesday from 5-8pm. They encourage you to pop by and check out the venue and meet the owners of catering businesses, a photographer, etc. that they use so you can get a feel of what to expect from each company. We came by at about 5:30 and were greeted by someone right away to give us a tour. One thing I noticed when we first walked in was a white cat sitting on the stairs. I assumed this meant someone lived here and I was right- the owners and four of their six children still reside in the home. They reassured us that if we were to hold our event here, we wouldn't see them though- a little strange, but this is their business and they do things how they want. We were shown all the rooms of the home which would be used on our day, should we book here, and then we went outside. The pictures on the website make it look a little bigger than it is, but that's okay. It really is a lovely place! While we were standing outside, a train came by and was extremely loud. Considering this would be an outdoor wedding, my fiance put the brakes on my wanting to sign up our date right away. Another thing he pointed out later was that when we were about to go on our tour, the girl said, "Just come this way gentlemen..." I hadn't heard it, but if I had I may not have continued the tour. Also, there's a faint smell when you walk in the home, but I figured it's just because people live there and the place is older (it was built in 1898). As of now, we're putting this as our Plan B option if other places we like more are booked for our requested date. The venue is gorgeous. The vendors are all amazing. My wedding was beautiful. However, the lack of communication is unreal. First off, the venue had changed caterers and never even thought to mention it to us. We had decided on an entire menu and sent it in. I found it odd when the caterer didn't reply so I called Em. Her response was, "oh we changed caterers due to issues with the previous company". Fair enough. Honestly, I wasn't a fan of the first catering company to begin with. But as a bride that already had invites and rsvp cards made, very stressful. Then a month before my wedding I called to discuss setting up my rehearsal and asked if we were missing anything. Em tells me that another lady was supposed to call me and go over all of that with me. She never did. I ended up reaching out to her through email and she told me she would call me in a few days when she had my file in front of her. Never happened. Plus, my photographer was asked to send in his proof of insurance which he did almost 6 weeks before hand. They lost it and kept emailing me telling me they needed it. Here comes where I completely lost all respect for the venue I was so in love with. I had called 3 weeks prior to my wedding and told them my final count so I could pay my balance. I asked for the total due so that I could get it out of the way. I was given a total by Em and paid it in full. I was sent a receipt. The day of my rehearsal I'm told I still owe money for extra decor I had picked out and food upgrades. First of all, my food upgrades had already been worked out with the first catering company. I understood this was another company and that wasn't going to transfer. The caterer did tell me there was upgrades with what I had chosen. Fine. But to be in the middle of my rehearsal the day before my wedding to be told I still owe money when I made sure to handle all of this weeks in advance was infuriating. Then when I asked for a total they weren't sure and said they would call me later. I get a call as I'm getting dressed for my rehearsal dinner telling me I owe $650!! Obviously I started crying. I'm getting married the next day. Beyond stressed. Low of funds. So I ask if that included everything. I was told yes. I asked even the decor? "Oh, no would you like that total too?" Ummmmmm YES!!!!!! I am getting married tomorrow!!! The actual total owed that was somehow forgotten 3 weeks prior came or to $800. They told me they could split the payment up for me. At that point I brushed it off and figured I would handle it after my big day. No such luck. The day of my wedding as my dress is being zipped up I have Em popping her head in asking if I decided on a payment plan yet!!! No I have not! It took everything I had not to lose it at that point. The best part was when they tried shutting down the bar at 9 and telling my guests everyone needed to be out by 10. Not what was discussed at all while setting up our wedding. The package we had says we have 5 hours. We knew that wouldn't be long enough and even asked Tom how long we could be there until. He made it seem like whatever worked best for us. We even said 11 or 12 and were led to believe that would be fine. My dad had to pay another $100 to keep the bar open until 10pm! Again, my wedding was gorgeous. The vendors did an amazing job. I recommend finding a venue that knows how to treat customers and run a business. Extremely disappointed. read more

I went here on Friday night, for my friends graduation party. Although, I did not see any of the inside of the house, the reception patio is quite nice and quaint. It has a nice set up and can fit a good amount of people. I did not try any of the food, so I can't rate that, but it was open bar, and that is always a plus!!! read more

The Z mansion is a beautiful venue, BUT the caterer, Black Apron Catering is TERRIBLE. We paid for a wedding reception for 125 dinners. 32 people had no dinner whatsoever!!!!! We are beyond embarrassed that our friends and family came from all over the country to help us celebrate and 25% of our guests left hungry!!! The green beans were undercooked and hard. The bread was overcooked and could have been used as a weapon! Choose another caterer. Black Apron is the worst and they will not return any of our phone calls. read more

My son just got married here July 28th - what a great place!! I really loved the venue. I'm only giving 4 stars because it would have been better if we could have driven our cars up closer for all the elderly guests - it was sprinkling and the sidewalk was a bit rough for them. It was a short walk for everyone else - but a long walk for them. Otherwise I was really impressed - it was a great wedding. And we didn't hear any train whistles, we were there from 4pm - 11pm on a Saturday. My husband and I were married on September 29th, 2018 at the Z Mansion. Our wedding was stunning. I loved the open house every Wednesday that allowed us to meet with our vendors. It made it so easy and took a lot of the stress away. I will admit, I was very overwhelmed when Z mansion changed caterers three weeks prior to my wedding day. But I really do think it was a blessing in disguise, as the new caterer revamped our menu and our guests raved about the food. I was pretty delicious. The DJ, Jim, is incredible and very helpful. From the cake to the bartenders to the decorator, it was absolutely fantastic. All the vendors were responsible and as flexible as possible with requests. Tom and Em are so gracious and flexible and we can't thank them enough for helping to make our special day everything we dreamed it could be. I would fully recommend this hidden gem and can't possibly describe how much we enjoyed hosting our wedding here. read more

Although the Z Mansion is a very pretty venue and a "one stop shop" type of place, the customer service (or lack thereof) was very disappointing! The staff made sure to say all the right things in order to get you to sit down and chose a package and write a check....the owner himself even sat down with us and raved about how generous they are at the Z Mansion and how they have even let couples make payments after the wedding due to lack of funds beforehand. So my parents wrote a check to hold a date that was 10 months out and we were off. Unfortunately we found out the very next day that my brother's wedding was not going to take place and called as soon as possible...within 24 hours of booking the date to see if they would be understanding and refund the deposit....oh my how the tone had changed! Again the owner presented himself and "played hard ball" with us and made threats if we tried to cancel the check! So my mom asked if we could possibly salvage the deposit and have my baby shower there one weekend in January (not a typical wedding month) and they agreed. Well to no surprise, upon calling to schedule a meeting to go over details the staff has now told us that they can only offer us a Monday or Tuesday for our event, seeing how most people work during the week this was not an option. The Z Mansion owner and staff did a good job making their venue seem like the dream location for your event and exaggerated their outstanding customer service and understanding to hardships in order to get you to book with them but when faced with a dilemma they react with hostility and threats! I certainly will never be back! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! We just got married here June 14, 2013 and I am very happy with how it all turned out. DJ Bednarek is a true expert! He played the perfect music the entire night. I didn't have a list of music for every single thing and he helped pick perfect songs. Hochs Catering put together a great dinner menu for us! The food was all expertly cooked and everyone enjoyed what we had. I used Jo Martinez from Studio London who is not part of the package, but always at the open houses, to do my hair and she also did a great job. I gave her an idea of what I wanted and she made it happen.Bartending 101 was great as well..drinks were delicious! Amelia from All Party Solutions brought it all together with putting the centerpieces and decor together. However, I could have used more help from her when trying to come up with centerpiece ideas, considering we did pay a little extra to use her linens and such, I could have used more help. Not to mention, not only did we have to buy all of what goes in the centerpieces, I also had to separate everything and label it by table before bringing it to the venue. Which in my opinion, shouldn't be left up to the bride, it should be done by the "experts"...however, when it was all said and done it did all look beautiful. The photographers Che and Tony from Wilson-Henry Photography were true professionals.Angel, their assistant was great in getting the paperwork together and any special shots that we wanted written down so the photographers knew what we wanted.
