We were very pleased with our wedding and photo package. The scenery could not have been better. Everything was well organized. They even had someone to direct cars to the upper parking lot. The ceremony was nice. Their website indicates they have an open house, but, when we went, there wasn't anyone there, just a stack of brochure folders. The folder had all the information though. We emailed the address given and at first we were tersely told to call instead, then someone else replied who was nicer. They still wanted us to call them. They're not an email inquiry place, but none of the wedding venues were. All of them want you to call. If you're getting a smaller package, like we did (which was just the ceremony with up to 20 guests) you pay the whole thing up front when you book your date. They have optional photography add-ons for all levels of package. This was the only venue to have small ceremony only options that we found. All the other places we contacted had a 50 person catering minimum. Saguaro Buttes also had some dates available soon, not next year or even next next year. read more

My husband and I got married here this past September. The venue is so beautiful, the food was fantastic, and the guests had a wonderful time. However, so many things went wrong behind the scenes that the owners did absolutely nothing about. First and foremost, we added approximately 13 extra guests to the total headcount and informed the venue at least two weeks in advance of the wedding. The venue did not invoice us for the extra guests about 2-3 days before the wedding date, and there was no payment deadline communicated. On the day of the wedding, we arrived to the venue a few hours before the ceremony, and the owner cornered me (the bride) and demanded that we pay for our extra 13 guests immediately. Again, she had only sent us the invoice 2 days before the wedding (and again, with no deadline listed on the invoice), and for some reason decided that a mere few hours before the biggest moment of my life would be a good time to confront me about this issue (as opposed to my parents, the wedding planner, the wedding party, or literally anyone else.) During the reception, the bartender who contracted with the venue somehow neglected to check behind the counter for all of the alcohol we purchased for the wedding guests, and told our wedding planner and our guests that we were running out of alcohol. This led to a significant level of unnecessary stress and panic about deciding whether to go and buy more. Thankfully we didn't have to, as we ultimately ended up returning over $500 worth of alcohol to Costco that the bartender never served. Similarly, many of our guests were not served any wedding cake when there were enormous quantities remaining. When my husband's godmother asked for a slice of cake, she was told they had run out. We also heard from many of our other guests that they never got served any cake. Despite being told we had run out of cake, we not only got the entire top layer of the cake back at the end of the night, but also the largest layer of cake, both of which are uneaten in our freezer. Having said all of that, the absolute worst thing that happened is that we negotiated with the venue to bring in our own DJ since we had a Persian/American mixed wedding, and we wanted our DJ to be familiar with Persian music. The in-house DJ had to be there to control sound and lighting, which we understood and were fine with. However, the in-house DJ was completely and totally inappropriate and rude to us and our guests. Before the wedding party was announced at the reception, he was announcing reception logistics to the guests, and made what many guests interpreted as a snide remark to all of the guests about us deciding to bring in an outside DJ (that we negotiated for!) instead of using him. Subsequently, he was yelling at the bride and groom and our wedding party backstage before we entered the reception area to be quiet when the door was open and our guests could hear him. At the end of the night, he became belligerent and screamed at our wedding planner, who said she had never been spoken to that rudely in decades of being a wedding planner. Lastly, I had a family heirloom from my husband's great grandmother fastened to my bouquet. I agreed with the in-house DJ in front of several witnesses that I could leave my my bouquet with the heirloom on it in the venue fridge because my florist was coming to pick it up the next morning to press the flowers and frame the heirloom. The next morning my florist could not find the bouquet at the venue, and was told that the in-house DJ had inexplicably decided to bring my bouquet home instead of refrigerating it at the venue as requested. When he finally returned the bouquet to the venue at 4pm, my generations-old family heirloom was missing from it. I'm extremely sad and disappointed at this venue and their owners. I understand that the wedding industry is ultimately a transactional business, but it was clear that the owners and some of the staff had no interest in making our night special, and thought of us as just another account receivable. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for a friend's wedding... the only reason why you would be here is for an event. There are some positives and negatives. The positives are that the place is gorgeous. They very much have combined nature's beauty and human living together well to make some beautiful pathways and pictures. There are about four areas where a ceremony can be held, though only one reception area. Also the people there were very nice. They did their best to accommodate numerous different aspects of the wedding as well as the curve balls that came their way and this wedding definitely had a few. For the negatives, it really has to be who ever catered it which I believe they have a specific person they cater from. It was mediocre cooking, i.e. edible, but no real flavor and slightly over cooked. The parking lot was also a mile away (yes an over exaggeration) at the bottom of the mountain. They did have a golf cart to bring people up to the venue, but it is a little ridiculous that such an accommodation is needed. I know they cannot do much about it now, but when it was first being designed, that was not planned very well, especially for anyone in heels. I probably would not choose this place for my own wedding or event, but I will not tell anyone not to choose this location. read more

Based off experiences in April 2010. We selected this venue because it is a one stop shop - coordinator, DJ, food, officiate, beautiful site, bartender, linens ... we only needed to provide the cake, photographer and flowers. Our day was spectacular and made much simpler because of all that they provide. Coordinators - Very on top of things and accommodating. Music - This is the only element we had issues with. We put together nine hours of music with instructions to only play what was provided. But he definitely played things we did not provide. Most upsetting was that he cut our first dance. Food - Great and lots of options. They were able to do special meals for guests at no charge (vegetarian and celiac). Officiate - We used the gentleman from the site. He was respectful of our requests and gave us some really great ideas for the ceremony, like writing paragraphs to each other which he read - took the pressure off of us and was incredibly meaningful. Guests were really moved by the ceremony. Site - Oh. My. Goodness. I just love the venue. So beautiful and it seems like they're always upgrading. Most of our guests were from out of town and people just couldn't get over how beautiful the venue was. I am so grateful I found this venue! I planned a a last minute wedding and was about ready to just go to the court house but then I found they had an elopement package for a small ceremony and use of the property for photos. Ceremony was fantastic, meaningful and the right amount of humor. The venue is gorgeous! Great view from the ceremony of the desert. Got so many fantastic photos in the desert and at a pond. The landscaping is always in top shape and they are always adding new features. Breathtaking sunsets that you can't see better anywhere else in town. Cindy does a terrific job at helping couples plan their special day and easy to work with. Rashid, the DJ, caters to each couple and gets the dance floor hopping. We just celebrated a beautiful perfect wedding and reception for my daughter here at Saguaro Buttes. My daughter is fifth generation Tucsonan but lives in Alaska and found this wonderful venue online! And what a gem it is! Unlike the larger venues available we were not in salon a or conference room B next to two other weddings and a conference... We had this entire property to ourselves for the entire day and night! It is absolutely a stunning setting overlooking the Saguaro National Monument. I just turned 60 and have been to plenty of weddings and as most of us can attest there's always something that happens that you grouse about at the end. NOT This Time! I can honestly say that Saguaro Buttes is the most attentive, detail oriented, and customer focused company that I have worked with in the past two decades! There was not a single mistake, not one, made by this organization! We were asked to bring all of our decorations to them the day before and believe me my wife went crazy making decorations. She carefully labeled the boxes but we had no idea how they would figure out how to do what we wanted.. Everything, and I mean everything was in exactly the right place including moving the flowers from the wedding ceremony to the reception and the picture rose backdrop from the cocktail area at the pond up to the reception. But I'm not done. At the end of the night after we had had an absolutely beautiful, loving, and blast of a time now the work begins because you have to clear out so they can prepare for the next wedding the next day. But alas everything had already been boxed and prepared and ready for me just to load in my truck. I cannot say enough good things about this venue, about the quality of staff, and all of the vendors that are associated with this fine organization. A special shout out to Dave the owner, and Sarah and Natalie who worked with us so closely over the many month's. And one more special shout out for Rashid, an absolute gem of a DJ who made for a terrific MC for the reception and then kept the party going strong all night long! My fiancée and I came here for a tour for a wedding. We showed up and were very unclear on where to go for our appointment, and had to call to figure out where to go. Once we were met the person giving us a tour, an older man (presumably the owner), met us with little enthusiasm. We were given some paperwork to fill out and led on a tour with equal enthusiasm. Towards the end of our tour, we were taken to an office to see videos of the bridal suite since it was currently being used for a wedding that day. We were expecting prior taken videos of an empty suite, but instead were shown live video security camera footage of a group of women actively getting ready for the wedding. Needless to say we were quite disturbed by this, while the owner seemed all too comfortable showing us. Even zooming into a spot of the room and announcing to us that, "this is where the bride changes into her dress". Unfortunately, the venue is absolutely beautiful, and has a very good price for what you get from it. This incident with the videos was just a little too unsettling for us to in good faith pick it for our wedding. read more

Nice venue that has become run down. Negatives: -ants swarmed flagstone where bride and groom get married. -carpet is ripped on areas visible. -tile on steps inside of venue is chipped. -broken glass was present on the dance floor during rehearsal & during wedding. - they literally take alcohol out of brides and grooms rooms (searching & going through things to get the alcohol) to later put in the open bar, which you have to hassle to get back! -main plates for dinner settings are chipped and show major wear.- while sitting there enjoying beverages and food, glasses of waters are taken From table with out asking if we're done. Me personally, I would not pay all that $ for that quality of venue! read more

We paid over $500 in upgrades (on top of the few thousand dollar upgraded package) for the wrong flowers and cake. This review is not towards the venue as it was perfect however, I would really think about the cake and flowers before paying hundreds on top of paying for the upgraded package. I got married April 8th of this year and still no response as to the incorrect cake and flowers I paid for after calls, texts and voicemails. Extremely poor service. After being guests at two weddings hosted by Saguaro Buttes, when my husband & I began thinking about venues, we didn't even look anywhere else. We went up to Saguaro Buttes and selected a date, and I do not regret that decision one bit. Giving a 5 Star rating may seem like the easy way out, but our wedding was absolutely perfect, and a large part of that was the staff and service Saguaro Buttes provides. From the officiant, to the caterer, to the wedding planner, to the DJ, every single person was helpful, professional, and very easy to work with. The look and feel of our wedding was everything we wanted. The ceremony went smoothly and was read beautifully by their officiant. Our guests had a great time at their cocktail hour, and the reception was amazing. The on hand caterer, River's Edge, did an excellent job with our menu. The food was delicious. The bar staff was great and the DJ created such a wonderful and fun atmosphere, and really knew how to read the crowd. The venue itself was beautiful in May. The flowers were blooming, the grounds were well cared for, and the view was gorgeous. Our out of town guests really fell in love with the scenery. Going to an all in one venue such as Saguaro Buttes was great on our wallet as well. You get a lot of services for the price you pay, and every detail was worth it. My big complaints are with the food. Don't get the Mexican buffet option. We ran out of tortillas and beans before the first round of guests served themselves. Very basic fare with little taste. I'm writing this on behalf of my brother and his future bride and as a newly engaged bride-to-be. My entire family is honestly VERY disappointed with this venue and they should be ashamed of taking advantage of couples during this awful time of COVID-19. My family was looking forward to celebrating my brother's wedding scheduled over a year ago. After so much planning, saving money, and hard work, they had to make the heartbreaking decision to postpone their wedding like many other couples. All of their vendors have been supportive and very understanding, except Saguaro Buttes. It's been very surprising since they are a Christian based locally owned company. They are charging couples a $700 rescheduling fee to postpone a wedding until the following year- and on top of that there are only giving you Thursdays and Sundays to choose from. The government didn't even allow the couple to have their wedding with more than 10 people and who knows what will happen for the rest of 2020... So now the couple had to choose a Thursday or Sunday date that coordinates with all of their other vendors AND pay $700.00 to have their wedding on a safer date in 2021. None of the other vendors are charging a fee and they have been so accommodating. Saguaro Buttes had been very accommodating up until this global pandemic and I had even considered having my wedding here, but now I don't want anything to do with them seeing how they are using this outbreak to their advantage. The location is beautiful and the grounds are well kept, but when I recently toured the venue before the lockdown, I couldn't believe the inside was not pristine with how much they are charging. The carpets were dirty and stained and there was dust on the drapes and piano. My brother also said the food tasting wasn't anything exciting. And now that they're charging couples a fee for something out of their control, it's not right and I hope that other couples speak up without the fear of repercussion. I've heard of other local venues rescheduling without a fee. I get that a charge may happen for premium days, but for a Thursday or Sunday?? When I looked into booking my wedding, they already had premium days like Friday and Saturdays booked in 2021. So now they are taking advantage and charging for Thursdays and Sundays after the couple already experienced losing their weekend wedding day. It's not right to treat my family like this or any other couple who had to go thru this awful time. It's too bad my brother is locked into a contract. I want to make this known in the wedding community- this couple and others have been thru enough as it is. I will not be booking my wedding here or recommending Saguaro Buttes in the future. There are other local Tucson venues that are more understanding and make sure you're getting your money's worth. read more

I just moved to Tucson and Desert is a new things for me, that's why we decided to have it as our wedding theme. Checked couple of venue, nothing was really impressed us, but the moment we drove through the Saguaro Buttes site, our breath was taking away, It was gorgeous and I am really sure my family (they are from out of country) will have a new experience with beautiful view like that. After talking with Cindy, we knew we want to get married here and decided to book our date. Cindy was really sweet, helpful when we got stuck on decision, patient even we changed the plan couple of times, care and very professional. You will get your email replied back on the same day you sent it out, that's how responsive they are. It was raining on the day but Cindy and the crew could handle everything. They had second or even third plan on every situation occurred. We also got Pastor Dave as our Officiant and no regret He is the best. From the counseling session to the day, He always could get the fun and happy moment around but maintain the sacred moment of the Ceremony itself. The value we paid is beyond on what we got. If I have a chance to celebrate anything again, I'd love to find a reason to celebrate it at Saguaro Buttes read more

We had our wedding ceremony here and it was the best decision ever. Dave married us and he was great! He kept it religious but humorous at the same time. I was crying but he made me laugh. We signed the contract 1 1/2 years before the wedding hoping that it would be as good as it sounded. It was better. Our wedding was fun and beautiful and stress-free. It was reasonably priced for such a professional staff. Pastor Dave was friendly and personal. Courtnay and Cindy were patient and helpful - very responsive. We were all coming from out of town and all of our needs were taken care of.
