These guys are doing it right. Exactly what you hope for in a local business…read more I found DC through a Facebook group when I asked for computer repair rec's. Checked out their website, then gave them a call about cleaning up my Mac before my vacation. I put it off to the last minute and wasn't sure they could help. Luckily, they could help me, and the rush fee was $100. I love that fact they picked up the phone and it wasn't some dead doornail employee who could care less about my computer issue. Chris, the owner, actually answered the phone. He said to bring it down. I came in that same day and he told me they would: clean it up, install new OS, remove junk, and speed it up overall. He quoted me end of the week, but it was ready sooner, so happy about because it would be ready for vacation. Total came out to about $430 with the rush fee. It's been about 6 weeks now and my computer is running amazing, so fast! They also have refurbished Macs for sale, which I'll be back for when my current computer stops working. Super 5 Stars for DC Computers! They care about their business and customers. So glad I found them.

I cannot recommend DC Computers enough! I'm not tech-savvy at all, and in this industry, it's easy…read moreto feel overwhelmed or taken advantage of. Dan and his team immediately put my nerves at ease. I brought in the laptop I use for work, and Dan understood the priority level right away. Not only did they fix the issue faster than expected, but the cost was far lower than I had imagined. As someone who has a small business, seeing their attention to detail was inspiring, it actually makes me want to be a better expert in my own field! They treated me like a local because they are locals and residents who have been serving San Diego for 10 years. If you need a repair or a new computer, go see them. I'll definitely be back! I would say this is a case of "you get what you pay for." It's expensive, but if you can't afford…read moreto not get your data back, go with Secure Data Recovery Services (SDRS). Their turnaround time was impressively quick. I worked primarily with Fred, and he did a fantastic job. He called me multiple times to update me on how the process was going, and also responded by email to my many questions. The process was relatively painless (no one wants to pay upwards of $1000 for an avoidable calamity, but that's not their fault). They have the process streamlined, so you will only have to click a few links to agree to their terms, and they are very responsive by email/phone if you have questions/concerns. I got the results of my diagnostic back 48 hours after dropoff, and my data back 7 days after dropoff, which is a pretty quick turnaround considering this counts a day for shipping the drive to their lab. The other places I checked with told me it would be 2-3 weeks. Getting your data back is expensive. It cost me $1200 to recover 2 GB of data from a thumb drive. The advantage of SDRS is that they will charge you $0 if they cannot recover your data and will also do the diagnostic for free, whereas other places will charge you $200 or more just for the attempt. This means that SDRS has to charge more for successful recoveries to absorb the cost of failed attempts (although it seems there are not many of these), and to pay for the free diagnostics they are doing. Ultimately I was happy with my choice.

I did a very stupid thing and forgot to back up an external hard drive. The hard drive was less…read morethan 8 months old and it died (that company will be hearing from me). The data was stuff that would be difficult to duplicate and if I did try to do that, it would literally take many 40-hour weeks to do so. I contacted Secure Data Recovery Services based on a recommendation from a friend who is VP of tech at his company. So, when calling the company, Alec Sakenes picked up my call and he was fantastic through the whole process. He explained everything to me in detail so that there would be no surprises. He walked me through the process and it was rather simple. Most of what we did was online via e-mail and Internet and it worked out very well. Alec was extremely responsiveness and was always a step ahead of me - checking in to let me know what was going on and making sure that everything was going okay. They were able to retrieve all of my data which was crazy. That was the good part - the not so good part was the fee for the recovery. But, after hearing from my friend what goes into a recovery, the fact that they were able to do so and do a thorough job was impressive. In the end, I opted to pay the fee to obtain my data. There comes a mini vacation we were planning but I have all of my data and I learned a VERY important lesson - back up multiple times and in multiple places!! Thank you, Alec, for such wonderful customer service. You really made me feel like a valued customer and I really like that you explained everything, told it like it was and never pressured me. Overall, the customer service (Alec) and technical assistance was fantastic and extremely professional. I would highly recommend Alec and this company.

Choose these folks for your data recovery needs! I had two WD (called Western Digital when they…read moredrives were made) HDDs that I needed data from. I was unable to recover data from them in different ways. Disc one was an external drive that would not power on. I tried removing it from its external enclosure and powering it from another, more different enclosure to no avail. The system was indeed down. Disc two was an internal drive that used to be my C drive- my boot drive. I removed it from an old computer after it stopped booting and put it into an external enclosure. Several different computers (Mac & PC) would recognize it sporadically, though none could access the data on it- error codes always came up. Before I removed it, from the old computer, I tried booting from an optical disc and other assorted methods, many other assorted methods... I believe I was very thorough in my efforts. I sent both in and received near 100% recovery. They said it was 100% from one and 99.9% from the other but I am unable to find that .1%. I got all of this for just barely above the $300 price in their name (each, not total). So for about $600 total (including new discs on which my recovered data was transferred and return shipping) I got this incredible service. The total price I paid for both discs at 300DDR is less than I was quoted at several other places for one disc. At each step they were great communicators, from their receipt of the discs to my receipt of the recovered data. I hope I never need their services again but should, I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I highly recommend them.

And worse it was the one that held all my photos over the last couple of years. I'm an engineer by trade and with other files, I might have tried to rescue them myself. For these important photos, however, I decided to go with the professionals. I did a bunch of research trying to find the best data recovery service to use and $300 Data Recovery turned out on top. The employees here are very professional and responsive. I submitted my chances form at 7:30PM on a Saturday and they got back to me within an hour. I was not expecting a response over the weekend. They gave very clear instructions on how to package and send off my SSD. I dropped it off at UPS the next day and by Wednesday, they confirmed they received the device and added me to the queue. Apparently there weren't too many people in line before me so I received a positive response the very next day. 100% of sectors recovered! A couple of days later they were completely done and after I confirmed they recovered my files (they send a master list of all files) and I paid ($300 fee + $105 recovery transfer drive + $25 shipping), they shipped my drive back. Total time from my first contact to receiving my data back: 16 days, and this was including Thanksgiving in between. I am very satisfied with the service I got from $300 Data Recovery. Hopefully I never run into drive trouble again (it certainly made me backup my files more frequently), but if I ever need help, I'll definitely contact them again. Now I can finally post all my Yelp reviews from November and December that I was missing photos for...
