Dr. seems good. Made appointment months ago. His staff called today and said they are cancelling because they will no longer take CIGNA insurance. Asked if just him or all Inova. Was told "I have no idea, you will need to call your insurance. We cannot help you", and hung up. Dr. seems good, but staff is terribly rude. CIGNA rep called them to verify, and he said they were rude to him as well. Unprofessional staff. read more

Inova website says he's accepting new patients. I spent 30 mins filing out the forms for an appointment including filing in all insurance and payment info. Received confirmation of appointment by text and email. Then, I get a call saying my appointment is being cancelled because he's not accepting new patients. WTF? Get your sh!t together. However, if his medical skills are anything like his admin skills, I probably dodged a bullet. read more

I love Dr. Z. Chris, located at the Washington Internist Group. He is very knowledgeable, understanding, and has been able to recommend good specialists for my needs. I have recommended him to other friends, and they have all raved about him. I never had to wait in the office for very long, the staff is helpful, and I even saw some of the other doctors come out and personally greet their patients prior to appointments. One caveat: Washington Internists Group's billing office is a bit of a money-grubbing set-up. I have been billed for calling in to have a prescription faxed to my new pharmacy, after I started a new job. I have never heard of such a practice -- getting billed for having a prescription faxed or mailed. Am I just being naive? It seems rather stingy. read more

Dr. Z is an excellent PCP that has been our family physician for years. We followed him from the DC office to INOVA VA office. And we continued our care with him as we feel he is knowledgeable, resourceful, and an excellent practitioner. He listens, follows-through, and interacts with his patients in a manner that gets to the bottom of the problem. Even if that includes the family. The reviews I'm reading have nothing to do with him so much as INOVA ensuring that the appropriate support services are in place for a smooth running medical practice. Unfortunately, these reviews negatively impact on a good physician. I can say this as I have a great deal of work experience in healthcare (e.g. hospitals, university hospitals, and outpatient centers, and medical education) for my entire career. Clearly, there were some minor issues when it comes to a seamless-coordination of services, but none related to the physician. For example, on my recent visit, I was informed that I would interact with several different levels of healthcare providers from - front desk staff, billing, students, nursing, lab personnel, medical resident, and finally the physician. Knowing this, I planned for a longer visit. I welcomed the students. From a student's perspective, this was a good opportunity in an unhurried learning environment. As a former teacher, it gave me an opportunity to look for "teachable moments" guiding the student in gathering relevant information from the patient, necessary in developing a plan of care. What I wasn't prepared for was the excessive paperwork that seemed important to INOVA but not necessarily important for my visit. Some of the questions were presented in a manner that made the question difficult to answer correctly. For example, I wasn't sure if one question was asking for my birth country versus my ethnicity. The options provided were questionable, did not apply, or seemed poorly worded as to the reason it was being requested. Unfortunately, this paperwork took so much time that many of the questions were left blank. When I finished my visit I asked the front desk personnel if other patients experienced difficulty with the questionnaires, for which they acknowledged "yes." It occurred to me that this would be difficult on several levels for elderly patients and individuals with disabilities, to complete. Many do not use or have computers to schedule appointments and fill out a plethora of forms. And, I suppose at some time in the future my ability to use technology may decline too. I'm surprised to read reviews have been filtered which seem completely legitimate--and as one of them states, yes--he has moved his practice to Alexandria from downtown. I think that everyone has a different relationship with a doctor, so I hesitate to write "reviews" of this type, but suffice it to say that he does take the time to listen, and he definitely brushes up on your history before you sit down (or he has an amazing memory!). read more

I have mixed feelings about Dr. Chris. On one hand, his office staff seemed pretty phenomenal; the onsite-lab is terrific (they gave me a shot and I had no idea the nurse had even started). On the other hand, I'm a little weirded out about the prescription business. Dr. Chris wrote me a prescription that was a slightly different formula prescription than I usually receive. It ended up being a much much more expensive brand-name pill. I didn't want to go through the hassle that others have indicated to get it fixed so I just threw down the extra cash. But still, I wonder if he has a deal with some drug companies. I'd say 2 stars because of the drugs and 4 stars for general office manner and the fact that he does listen fairly well. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Chris since 2003 and hope he never leaves the area. I've sent many friends/colleagues to him. He is one of the most caring and thoughtful doctor's out there, and I would know. When he moved to a practice in Alexandria, I tried seeing doctors in my neighborhood and felt zero empathy or received any guidance. Dr. Z is an intelligent, thorough MD. He takes the time to listen to one' symptoms, asks specific questions and recommends but the best if he is unable to assist beyond his capacity. He referred me to a neurologist who was able to pinpoint my problem after having wasted my time with 6 previous MDs who were quick to prescribe me with the wrong meds and misdiagnose me for a year. He knew the root of the problem, acted upon it quickly by ordering the right exams and told me who to go to see. He's also VERY easy on the eyes. Hello!!!! read more

I have been going to Dr. Chris for over a decade and even followed him when he moved his practice to Inova (I live in DC). He is a wonderful listener and learns with the changes body of knowledge in medicine. I can be a difficult patient for some doctors because I am also trained in biomedical sciences but Dr. Chris's humility, wisdom, and bedside manner are collaborative and reflect his priority being treating the whole patient not just a symptom or disease. I have recommend him countless times to friends, who have thanked me for the referral. read more

Best GP ever -- Z Chris! And I've tried so many in DC and in a vast number of other major cities in which I've lived. I've never written a review anywhere, but am starting now -- bc Z is wonderful! He truly listens to what concerns you, takes all the time you want, and has the concern to delve deeper into what might be bothering you, in any sort of way. Recently had a concern that I might have developed a respiratory infection after an overseas trip, and they scheduled me in the next day for a quick check-up. Staff is very responsive and well-organized. First started seeing Z Chris at his DC location -- his Alexandria office is only 10-15 mins away, but you need to drive, which I rarely do, and prefer all my dr's to be in the District. But he's so great, it's beyond worth the drive. Even if he moved 4 hrs away, I'd still prob make a twice-a-year trip there. read more

Dr. Z Chris, besides being an all-around nice guy, is a sincere, caring, thoughtful doctor who in this day & age, seems to take the extra step to assist this patients where others do not. He seems to want the patient to take responsibility for their own health & then come to him for guidance to get one's self to an all-around "good state" of physical & mental well-being, at least that is my impression. I am glad to have been referred to him & feel comfortable with Dr. Z Chris as my PCP. read more

Doctor Chris is actually a terrific doctor but his support staff is some if the worst I've ever encountered. They are difficult to reach, generally unresponsive, and don't seem to care. Dr. Chris has been my doctor for several years now, before and after his move. He's a doctor who listens, answers questions, researches and generally does more than others do. In other words, he forms a doctor/patient relationship with you. I can also say that he cares about the whole person, not just the immediately treatable condition. When I was diagnosed with cancer, he didn't just work with me to treat what he could, find the oncologist, etc., he also made sure I was mentally coping, and offered a reference to psychological support if I needed it. It's little things like these that make a great doctor, I think. read more

Dr Chris has been a good doctor for me over the past 5 years. I haven't had any major issues, but the practice is convenient, well run and Dr Chris is very responsive, calm and competent. I agree with the other poster that the charge for phoning in a prescription is annoying--they will mail you one for free however. read more

Unfortunately Dr. Chris has left Washington Internists as of June 30, 2010 moving to Inova Internal Medicine in Alexandria, which is inconvenient for me. I have been seeing him since he joined the practice in 2003 and I'm sad to see him leave. I have had a number of issues over the years. He's been perceptive and empathetic and has made excellent referrals to specialists when necessary, including my current allergist. I wish him all the best in his new practice. read more

Dr. Roulidis probably saved my life. He was my primary care physician when he worked as a young physician at Duke University in the 1990s. In 1998 I was 43 years old and in good health. Dr. Z felt something abnormal in a prostate exam; although my PSA was just at the limit of the normal range, he ordered a biopsy. By discovering my prostate cancer early, at a time when it was about to spread, he literally gave me a new lease on life. He is thorough, thoughtful, and you would be lucky to have such a sensitive doctor looking out for you. Thank you, Dr. Roulidis, I owe you so much! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Chris's for several years, so it's difficult to write this review because I WAS pleased with the care I got from him for several years. However, the level of care he has given in the past couple of years and especially the last year has been especially awful. He has been"checked out," tired, impatient, belittling, and just plain disinterested when I've seen him. He even gave me an incorrect diagnosis (I know it was an incorrect diagnosis because I went to a specialist on my own volition who gave me a full work-up). When I asked Dr. Chris whether I should see a specialist just to be on the safe side, Dr. Chris discouraged me from doing so. I went to see a specialist anyway when I didn't feel better under Dr. Chris' care and I'm really glad that I did. Less importantly, but still relevant, getting appointments with him for his existing patients is near impossible since he reduced his hours to I believe, 3 days/week. If I could give him negative stars, I would. Do not waste your time with this formerly decent doctor. read more
