Let's start with the basics. Corey Wallach, MD, is a U.S. board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in spine surgery. He completed his medical degree at an accredited U.S. medical school, followed by a full orthopedic surgery residency and an advanced spine surgery fellowship focused on both degenerative and complex spinal conditions. His clinical practice centers on disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, including degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, disc herniation, spinal deformity, and traumatic conditions. Dr. Wallach is trained in both traditional open and minimally invasive spine techniques and performs procedures such as lumbar and cervical fusions, interbody fusion procedures, decompressions, and motion-preserving surgeries when appropriate. He has hospital privileges at major regional medical centers and participates in multidisciplinary spine care teams involving pain management, rehabilitation, and neurology. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Wallach has been involved in academic and professional activities typical of fellowship-trained spine surgeons, including participation in continuing medical education, adherence to evidence-based surgical guidelines, and engagement with national orthopedic and spine societies. His credentials reflect formal surgical training, specialty board certification, and focused expertise in operative and non-operative management of spinal disorders. Here are the FACTS in my case. First, if you can get an appointment you're having a lucky day. Under normal circumstances he is booked beyond measure, but agreed to take on my case (however that happened is something to be grateful for). My back/spine were bad, seriously bad. After 8+ years of pain and agony, it looked like I had caught a break! Scheduling me ahead of others (I don't know how many) and teaming up with another highly respected surgeon, I finally received approval and had my surgery last week. He spent a lot of time before surgery in pre-op, explaining the surgery and the risks. He answered every question patiently. He wasn't rushed, he was purposeful. When my daughter had questions, he called her. He checked up on me while I was in the hospital and when I got home. The bottom line, for me, is that I am now pain-free, doing moderate PT as required, and feeling the best I have ever felt in YEARS. Of course, every situation is different. But when it comes to having "the gift", you want someone with Dr. Wallach's experience and expertise fixing your spine. ....now Medicare, pay the man!!! :) read more

Wallach Corey J MD - Me. - Doctors Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

Dr Wallach sees his patients as a dollar sign and has become a money machine. I underwent two surgeries by him and I am a thousand times worse than I was before the surgeries. He has lied to me repeatedly about my medical condition and refuses to answer my medical questions. He has a cavalier and dismissive attitude toward his patients. I have to have a third surgery by another doctor to correct what he has done to me. I would not recommend him even to my enemies. Avoid him at all cost. Siamak O Gorgeen read more

I am extremely frustrated and angry with the way I was treated during my appointment with Dr. Wallach this morning, and as a result, I do not recommend him. After a couple appointments (in person and on the phone) with Dr. Wallach's PA, Karess Denny, Karess recommended that I meet Doctor Wallach at my next appointment. Karess has been amazing. She is a great listener, who takes the time to understand the problem(s) and prior treatment history before making her recommendations. As a result, I was shocked by Dr. Wallach's starkly contrasting behavior during our appointment. Dr. Wallach asked me how I was feeling, and while responding, he interrupted me mid-sentence to tell me what my options were. That became a pattern during our meeting. After being cut off five times in a row (not an exaggeration), I paused and said calmly, "Dr. Wallach, I'm becoming increasingly frustrated because every time I attempt to talk, you interrupt me and won't let me finish." To his credit, he apologized and sat back, signaling that he was open to listening. I tried again and was able to express a full thought. On the very next interaction, however, he interrupted me AGAIN. I became more forceful in that I continued to talk even while he was trying to talk over me, but he continued, clearly not interested in what I had to say and apparently incapable of reading the room. I again expressed my frustration and in response, he said, "Look. . . I'm a really good doctor and have been doing this for a long time," to which I responded, "You may be a good doctor but you are horrible at listening to your patients. We're done here." This appointment was supposed to be a simple follow-up. I thought we were going to discuss how I was feeling and what options were available moving forward. I was appalled by his superior, rude, and dismissive behavior and his unwillingness to discuss my options' pros and cons. As a result, as I have already indicated, if you need a back doctor, I recommend going elsewhere. read more

Top shelf care from entire team. Four months after decompression and fusion of L4:L5 I've been released from care. I wouldn't have done this without the confidence Dr Wallach instilled in me. Every step was logical and demonstrated surgery was the right step now. Everything he told me has been spot on, even the things I doubted. Leaving the office Dr Wallach said "Go Live Your Life". WOW and Thank You! read more

Dr. Wallach performed a minimally invasive lumbar fusion for me. I am 4 weeks post-op and the chronic pain I was in has disappeared. Still on the mend from surgery but incredibly grateful to Dr Wallach and his exceptional team for making the entire experience as easy on me as possible. The office practice was efficient, professional snd supportive. Dr. Wallach spent an inordinate amount of time with me answering all my questions and discussing the options and potential outcomes. I continue to see him for regular follow ups and have already highly recommended him to friends and family. read more

My surgical experience has been exceptional. The pre-op and post-op procedures were clearly explained to me and I followed them to the letter; consequently, I have had minimal pain, got off the pain medication quickly, and started driving ahead of schedule. Dr. Wallach is a sports fan so one, we got along well, and two, he appreciated my needs to get back to my normal activities (I'm a hockey referee, football coach, and bowler). He's friendly and direct so I really appreciated that approach. The nightmare that I heard about others having...I haven't had any of that! Overall, this could not have gone better. read more

I went to see Dr. Wallach February 28, 2012, after waiting 6 weeks for an appointment. His colleague, Dr. Lovallo (who did surgery on me in 2010) recommended him. What a horrible experience. Dr. Wallach cared VERY LITTLE about my problems. I've had problems with my arm and shoulder ever since my C6 disc ruptured in 2009 and I've been trying to find a solution to my problems. I was trying to tell Dr. Wallach all of my symptoms, to help better diagnose me, when he said to me "I'm not going to tell you again, I believe you." I believe the more information the doctor has, the better chance of diagnosis. Needless to say, I won't be returning to Dr. Wallach. There are other doctors that will treat their patients with respect. read more

Not good. Haven beem seen many doctor, He is the worst one, highly suggest change your doctor if you had Wallach.

When Dr Corey Wallach agreed to see my husband, he had suffered extreme lower back pain for months. At age 75, his life was miserable and was unable to perform the simplest personal tasks. His sleep, eating, dressing, bathing, etc. all became painful experiences. Dr Wallach subsequently ordered an MRI which showed a severe lumbar disk herniation. When he saw the results of the MRI, he immediately contacted him by phone and expedited arrangements for surgery to relieve my pain and restore his life. In less than a week, he was back was home functioning normally without pain. He has felt no pain since! In less than a week he was doing household chores and exercising in our fitness room. Then, in less than three weeks, he was using our exercise equipment and hiking in the nearby woods. I cannot overstate our appreciation for his kindness, compassion, professional consideration and expert surgical services which restored my husband to a normal pain-free life. read more

Dr. Wallach is a fantastic surgeon and I couldn't be more thrilled with the results of my recent C5-6 ACDF surgery. All of my presenting symptoms are gone. In addition to his surgical skill, he has an excellent bedside manner and was very clear in explaining all of my options and the details of the procedure in layman's terms. The staff at Anderson is great and Jeff, Dr. Wallach's PA is excellent as well. I knew that I was in good hands in the hospital when members of the hospital staff kept checking my wristband and asking me who my doctor was. When I told them Dr. Wallach, they all said things like, "I love Dr. Wallach!" and "He's an excellent surgeon." I wholeheartedly recommend him and feel very grateful for the work he did on my spine. read more

The positive impact Dr. Corey Wallach has made in my quality of life as a result of his medical insight and treatment is quite frankly nothing short of miraculous. I had no prior medical issues with my spine/back; however, when this issue surfaced (L5-S1 herniation), it did so with such ferocity and debilitating impact that I found myself literally on the ground. After a visit to the emergency-room due to extremely intense pain, leg weakness and numbness, the ER physician recommended Dr. Wallach because of what she had learned of him through past patients and physician peers...my diagnosis was L5-S1 herniation. My wife and I conducted our own due-diligence prior to contacting Dr. Wallach and objectively learned that the Anderson Clinic Spine Center had a stellar reputation and more specifically, Dr. Wallach was a leader in his field of expertise. The timing of what occurred above was just weeks before Christmas. Dr. Wallach saw me quickly and viewed first-hand how debilitating the herniated disc was to my basic functions of eating, sleeping (zero walking). Dr. Wallach had made personal plans just prior to Christmas, not having scheduled any operating room time since he was to be on holiday with the family...that all changed when he saw me. Dr. Wallach did what I call a stop-drop-and roll, getting his excellent staff to assist in doing whatever it took to get me into surgery. The outcome, Dr. Wallach and his highly professional staff managed to arrange for surgery 2 days before Christmas. The good doctor came to the operating room from home, putting his own family plans and holiday activities on hold so that he could help someone (me) who was completely incapacitated and in pain at a level I wish upon no one. Thank you Dr. Wallach to you and your committed staff. The level of responsiveness, understanding and sensitivity demonstrated is something is rarely seen or experienced. Sincerely, Scott K. read more

Referred to me by very high level doctor. I had surgery/spinal fusion about eight years ago and went as to see Dr. Wallach as scheduled though my pain continued. After 18 months I finally went to pain doctor for some relief and had a few injections to ease the pain as the physical therapists informed me they could not do not anything else. Unfortunately I have had to complete additional mri the last year or so due to continuing pain and unfortunately my fusion did not fuse and therefore they want to complete an additional surgery/fusion. Unfortunately while I was still lov by in No. Va. it seemed that Dr. Wallach was too busy each time I came in (2 minutes or so), probably not his fault though the fault will h insurance and payouts. read more

Terrible. Spent less than 7 minutes with me, did not listen to my symptoms or run any tests on me. Instead, just wanted to get me into the Anderson Clinic to milk my insurance. To add insult to injury, became rude an ARROGANT when I dared to ask him any questions. I only went to him because I moved and my previous orthopedic doc is too far away. I've decided to make the long drive back to my competent doc. and not waste time with these SCAMMERS read more

Waited about an hour to have all of my concerns dismissed right away because I "looked young and healthy." I couldn't have been rushed out of there any faster. The team went by my self-diagnosis and didn't do any research other and observing simple stretching. Maybe suggest an MRI or x-ray to see what is really going on? I know it takes up a little bit more of your time but that's still more more money coming in for you guys. A waste of time and money. On to the next doctor. read more

Dr. Wallach performed back surgery on me on 6/12/2012, and the surgery completely fixed my lower back problem. He removed the disk between L4 and L5 and fused those two vertebrae. I had previously had 3 epidural steroid injections and 2 facet blocks done with another doctor and those had not provided any relief. I interviewed 3 spine specialists about surgery. All described the same surgical procedure, but Dr. Wallach had a much better sense of the issue causing the pain, and a better "bedside manner." The surgery and post-op all went extremely well and I am very happy with the results. His P.A. is great also. read more

In the past I have seen other doctors at the Anderson Clinic. So when my right leg and foot began to go numb, I made an appointment with the spine doctor at the Anderson Clinic -- Dr. Corey Wallach. My first appointment with Dr. Wallach was in January 2012. He had me get an MRI to find out why my right leg and foot were bothering me. It ended up that I had a bad disc between L4 and L5 (which is very common). Dr. Wallach began with physical therapy to see if my body would heal itself. After trying PT and not having any success, Dr. Wallach suggested we try epidural shots in my spine to ease the pain and discomfort. I was getting worried about how serious my problem was becoming. Dr. Wallach took a slow, conservative approach with a watchful eye towards my care. I had three shots in 6 months and still no relief. I made an appointment to discuss surgery options. Dr. Wallach was great. He walked me through the procedure I would have and how I would feel after the surgery. We both were disappointed that I had to take this option. I had a mircodiscotomy November 8, 2012 -- today I had my 2 month checkup and I am walking again with no pain. If it wasn't for Dr. Wallach I would still be laying in bed and not able to enjoy walking my dogs. I appreciated the fact that he went slow and tried other options first before surgery. Yet when there was no relief -- we went for it. I was scared that I would have a hard recovery. After surgery I went home same day and was able to walk up stairs to my bedroom and go for short walks with my husband. Each day I still continue to improve and get stronger in my right leg. All thanks to Dr. Wallach and his great, caring staff at the Anderson Clinic. read more

Wonderful doctor. I am able to drive, move freely and sleep without pain!

About me, I'm a 54 year young overweight female. Before visiting Dr. Wallach, I tried many things to 'fix' my back issues. Chiropractic, acupuncture, lumbar injections, physical therapy, physical therapy with dry needling and, of course, pain meds & muscle relaxers. I let this go on for a number of years. Finally over the last year before I first visited Dr. Wallach, I had started losing feeling down my left leg. The pain, tingling and numbness was so bad I couldn't get thru store without a cart to lean on or finding a place to sit down every 10 to 15 minutes. I visited Dr. Wallach with the hope that he would have another 'solution' for me other than surgery. I had been told he was the most conservative back surgeon in the area. I heard him speaking with other patients (let's face it, voices carry but I didn't know/didn't want to know names) and with each of the three before me...his responses were to try other options before he would do surgery. I was VERY excited that he would tell me the same thing. He came in to meet me and he is a SUPER nice person so I was somewhat relaxed as we talked. After a while of talking, he had me go have X-rays (right there in the office!), then he read them. I was the unlucky but LUCKY fourth. He said I needed to have surgery, I admit I cried. But I believed him; I made the surgery appointment that day and had the surgery less than two weeks later. Let's face it; it is scary to think someone will be cutting into your back. Now, 7 months later...I LOVE Dr. Wallach and all of his staff. I can shop, clean my house, cook and do most anything I would like as long as I don't overdo it. Do I still have some pain, yes? Did Dr. Wallach sugar coat it, no? Am I still going to PT, yes but only once every two weeks? Am I a VERY happy camper that I found Dr. Wallach and followed his advice, YES!!!! read more

I waited for an hour and a half to see Dr. Wallach, and did not see him. No one came to tell me he had an emergency or any other reason for the long wait. I asked for my co-payment back and left without rescheduling. This is very rude and inconsiderate. Everyone's time is precious. I will find another doctor. He is not the only game in town. read more

Big waste of time and money. Scheduled appointment to have results of tests. Told they have access to results through the system. Should have known better because I show up for appointment, they don't have access to results in system. Nurse Practioner (NP) says - come back (and pay another co-pay) with results but otherwise can't do anything for you. My symptoms subside for a little while so don't return right away. Symptoms return a couple of weeks later and call for appointment. Long wait for appointment with doctor but NP available. They refuse to schedule appt with NP because I already had an appt with her. I explained to scheduler why nothing was done at the previous appt and asked to get the closer appt with NP. Refused- it's their "policy" that once you see the NP, next appt you have to see doctor. Said never mind- will call another office who puts patients before policy. She didn't care. read more
