After being taken back the medical assistant draws my blood and I don't see her again.. the poor NP student was the one that had to enter all of my history & medication into the EMR system. I felt so bad for her. They know that the medical assistant should have had that taken care of before the NP student came to see me. I felt they were taking advantage of her like many employers do to students on internships. The NP student was very kind. She was very knowledgeable. She's the first to ever mention an issue that has been looked over by physicians for years. She was great. Dr. Stoll walks in after my time with the NP with samples of new medication to give me. I kindly declined them... no thanks to new medication I didn't ask for nor needed to change. She seemed as if she trusted the NP (which I did too) and so there wasn't much to the visit with Dr. Stoll. Unfortunately, I won't be back. I do not want to seek care there again... After listening to my symptoms, he calmly advises and provides medical advise that I trust. Since a doctor visit is not routine for me and by the time of an appointment with Dr. Immel, I have worked myself into a small frenzy. With my complications, Dr, Immel's empathy and my trust with him is most reassuring. Even when a different doctor suggested a Colostomy bag about five years ago, Dr. Immel recommended that this not be a solution with a different approach recommended. The paperwork I signed clearly stated the appointment was able to be canceled for a medical emergency for myself or immediate family. When I explained what the papers I signed stated , I was told I had to cancel for a medical emergency a week in advance, not sure how to do that, it was an emergency. I canceled entire appointment due to the unprofessional treatment I received. I would not recommend.

That BF and I have since parted ways, but not me and Dr. Gardner. He's a keeper! He is awesome! He is thorough, chipper, friendly and spends gobs of time with you explaining everything. He's dragged in medical books to show me illustrations and drawn things out so I have a visual when applicable. He also has this awesome Palm Pilot-esque device that he carries that holds a wealth of information about prescriptions and what brand is best covered by your insurance, what it interacts with and side effects- very handy! He also consistently checks me on my posture - I'm a big time sloucher. On the rare occasion that Dr. Gardner is away or I am needing a last minute appt and he's booked, I've also been to Dr. Tokarz who took a lot of time asking me questions about myself trying to get to know me and Ly-Lan Bergeron, a physician's assistant who also asks a lot of questions and is really caring. They used to have some awful people that worked up front, but thankfully all of them have been replaced and the new staff is GREAT! The last straw was when I was told there was no queue when I directly asked one of the receptionists what the estimated time of a wait was; I waited 20 minutes with no updates, and, when I finally went up to ask what the ETA was for the phlebotomist, the receptionist had the nerve to tell me that he wasn't seeing anyone currently, and it would be another 30+ minute wait. Parking was probably the hardest part at this location, as I'm used to going to Reston or Tysons Corner, where parking is very close to the office. Once I found parking in a lot about a quarter-mile away and walked to the office, I realized I couldn't get in without pushing an intercom button. Again, not something I was used to at the other offices that I've been to. But once I got inside, checked in, and let them know that I was trying to get lab work before my visits, they took care of signing me in for both and getting me set up. The lab tech took me back shortly after, and it was someone I knew from the Reston office. After finishing with the lab tech, the nurse practitioner quickly called me back, took care of the reason I was seeing her, and had me quickly on my way to my next appointment. I can't say enough about One Medical as a practice, and I highly recommend you give them a try if you need primary care or a new doctor.

They have a children's practice as well, which I am highly considering switching to as I can see it being easy to schedule sick and well visits, get doctors notes, etc. My company used to pay One Medical Group as a benefit but it is so good that I continue to pay out of pocket. She's a brilliant individual and physician, and I thank the heavens for her! She's a truly exceptional physician in several ways. To begin with, her reassuring bedside manner is imbued with the kind of warmth, natural ease and calm confidence you would hope all physicians were made of, but rarely are. She makes it incredibly easy to discuss matters with her, and at no point in the appointment did I detect the doctor-patient power differential. It was a very healthy communicative dynamic where I felt completely at ease, heard, seen, understood, acknowledged and validated. She genuinely wanted to understand my experience and the struggles that ail me. She assumed nothing and listened with great care and attention, asking all the pertinent questions. She didn't miss a beat, not a single one. She's exceptionally bright, insightful and possesses a diagnostic prowess that is uncanny. She took the time to properly assess my current ongoing issues, and as equally and thoroughly went over my medical history, labs and other diagnostics, and delved into my childhood ails. Suffering from a series of complex health issues turned chronic, that none of the many top-notch doctors I had seen prior to her even came close to addressing; she, however, was able to give me the sense of clarity and empowerment I needed. She was able to inform me as to what the actual underlying issues, concerns and future implications were, how they were addressable and can be overcome, and presented me with clear options for treatment approaches for best outcomes, and explained here's why. She openly discusses her thought process and the modalities she's employing in her assessment and treatment approach with you, so you're in the know. I have been taking my little one to her since 4 months old. We went to her because we did not feel comfortable with vaccinating our baby at such young age. She explained to us her vaccine plan and told us that she would support us no matter what we choose for our baby (vaccinate or not). In addition to prescribing medicine, she also has knowledge about alternative remedies that when used correctly have worked for us. I am also personally seeing her for my Hashimoto's. I have been able to reduce my antibodies significantly since seeing her. I also like that she offers alternative lab testing which allows you to see a more holistic view of your body's status. The lab work that she recommends (but does not force on her patients because of the cost) looks at the levels of various minerals and vitamins that most conventional doctors do not check. However, those are vital to check at least once a year to gain some assurance that your body is in balance and there won't be any issues down the road. CONS: I have noticed that she is not very clear on how some of the remedies should be used. Often times I've had to look them up myself and do some personal research. It was a bit frustrating at the beginning but I was still happy because she gave me options and through my own research, asking her questions via e-mail (she is very responsive), I am able to make my own informed decision on how to treat my baby's illness at the time.

The front desk staff seemed a bit overwhelmed by some sort of change in an internal system regarding insurance cards, but it didn't manifest as any convenience to me. I waited quite a bit longer than my appointment time, but my appointment itself was mercifully efficient and to-the-point. The blood test they conducted - though out of a different office - was similarly quick, and Dr. Giordano called me to personally run through the results. Other than the wait time, which is normal for places like this, the only knock I have on these offices is that they look like they came out of the 80s. Top to bottom, everything is old and antiquated in a very unpleasant sort of way. Frankly, it was off-putting. This obviously isn't the fault of Dr. Shreiner or Giordano - you can't help it if you landlord doesn't put money into a building, and it's hard to abruptly stop helping patients to do remodeling - but it's quite bad and filthy feeling. Even new wallpaper and lighting would help immensely.
