I have been stopping at a board game shop in every town I have been visiting. This was the best one…read morenear Parsippany, NJ we were visiting for a convention. This was in Booton, NJ, on the way back to Syracuse, NY. The shop was a large room with tables for open gaming and tournaments, and the walls were lined with merchandise for sale--ranging from board games to trading cards. There was plenty of light, and the people playing Magic towards the back were very friendly and welcoming. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice! The coolest part is you can ask for the secret password, based on a quest posted outside the space down the road a little bit, and you can get into the Gaming Lounge addition. When you go in to the Gaming Lounge, it feels like you're stepping into some kind of hobbit hole, and the further back you go, the more space there is to play games with friends. There is even a fireplace! The space is super cozy and features a huge wall of games to play with friends. If I lived anywhere near by, I would go to this shop all the time! The cards they sold were even reasonably priced, so I also love that.

I wanted something narratively heavy, with less rule complexity and overhead than Lord of the Rings: Journeying through Middle Earth. He didn't really have an answer for me, and I felt I gave him a lot to work off of. To give you an idea how small this place is - the pictures in this review represent half the games in the store. There's one extra bookshelf that I didn't catch and there's a display case in front with CCG cards. Shopping experience aside, you can tell this place has a good community. There were four tables occupied in the back around 4 PM on a Saturday - maybe representing 10 people - and there's a big communal shelf you can draw from if you want to play in house. I'd come back to play and make new friends.

The owner, however, is a young pompous, rude & arrogant kid. Overall, not a good person. There were some "streamers" in the store recording content because, of course. The owner didn't pay attention to anyone else in the store whatsoever the whole time... he became part of the stream team, gloating about his courtside Knicks tickets, pathetically glazing the streamers like a ridiculous fanboy, and showing off for the camera just to get tagged. I was in there for about 2 hours flipping through bins listening to the nonsense. Unfortunately, his father had to go home to feed his wife, as he put it. Again, he was GREAT (funny, kind, charismatic & very welcoming... everything a store owner should be). Once the streamers finally left, the whole vibe of the shop changed. I guess the owner didn't like my face or something & made it a point to make me feel as unwelcome as possible. Kept asking me in a weird tone over and over about 7 times, "are you good, man?" I had to keep telling him yea, still just putting a stack together over here. It was annoying af and he knew it... felt like he was rushing me out/didn't want me there because I wasn't looking at the super expensive, EXTREMELY overpriced stuff. Then, he had everything overpriced on his "bargain bin" stickers too. Since it was all bargain bin stuff collecting dust behind the counter, I tried to reason with him and showed him all the comps (which I was offering at or over the sale price of). He responded rudely and imposingly, "the price IS the price. I'm not budging one penny on the sticker, so just go buy one of those comps if you want it." This was with a $5 sticker on a $1 card that I offered him $3 for, in good faith, after showing him the last ten $0.99 sales. I decided right then & there that he was just being a d1ck & I didn't want to do business with someone like him. BUT I DID just spend 2 hours digging through stuff. So I pulled out a total of $31 worth of cards based on his non-negotiable sticker prices. I asked, "can we just do a flat $30?" His response? You guessed it, "the sticker is the sticker." ONE dollar... he wouldn't budge ONE dollar on his already overpriced cards. Rather lose a customer to make one buck. Crazy work, never seen anything like it in my life. I realized my feeling was right the whole time, I was 100% not welcome there. Afterwards, I read all the reviews about the owner's racist tendencies and it ALL made sense. I was profiled and very clearly not wanted in his shop. I also watched him fleece a kid (around 12yo) that sold him a somewhat rare Mahomes. Comps were at $300-$350 (legit sold comps) and he literally told the kid that his comps meant nothing because he wasn't using Card Ladder but a different app , then proceeded to spit out lowball comps without showing the kid ANY actual evidence of them other than his own bs claims. He just said that he "saw" them on Card Ladder going for like $200 (not true at all) and that Mahomes isn't even going to play next season , and offered the kid $160. Poor kid took it... that was less than 60% of the lowest comp, closer to 50% on the LOWEST comp. This guy is a certified douche. I will NEVER go in this shop again. Unless you are actively looking to overpay for cards while getting treated bad, I'd find another spot to shop. However, if you're a streamer or willing to spend thousands, go on in... he's super nice & accommodating in that case. Will glaze you the whole time and make you feel real special so you keep spending.

The owner always helpful and sometimes I have dealt with his dad who covers when he is not there, and the father was nice. Only drawback is there are no vintage cards, you are not going to find anything below the year 2000 as far as I know. Also like another review said, no hockey or WNBA. As for prices I am not really sure as I didn't compare but I do know a brick and mortar store has overhead to pay for rent, electricity and employee pay, if you want cheapest possible, buy online, if you want to see your product and pickup instantly while still supporting a local business go there.

I told him I just wanted to trade. I wasn't interested in selling. He offered 20% below spot (in cash) for my coins and then told me I was interrupting his football game. I actually had called him twice, in advance and made an appointment with him. After I told him I would not take $1.80 per silver dime because each dime had 2.25 grams of silver and silver is about $1 at spot value, he then offered me $2 per dime. These are 1940s MERCURY DIMES. He said he didn't know how many grams of silver there were in each dime. He lied and played stupid. Since he was annoyed that I seemed to be interrupting his "Redskins" football game on TV, which he had on in the back of the counter for himself (not for customers), I told him I went to the JETS game last night (There wasn't a jets game last night). His response, "Yeah, they lost last night, didn't they?" Again, more bull. This guy was full. Of. It. At which point he said he wouldn't pay spot silver prices. He asked me why I wanted the sell them and how I got them. I told him I was a collector and I was trying to trade, not sell. Boy, what horrible business man. Dishonest. This review is for face value stamps only- I am not a collector and know nothing of the stamp…read morecollecting world. When I was referred by a friend, I thought, well it's a collector's shop. They're gonna try to upsell and give me a hard time if I'm only there for face value stamps. So it took me about 2 years before I made my way to the shop. Boy was I wrong. As you walk in, you will see shelves and shelves of neatly organized binders. The store is much larger than I imagined, with a large communal table-type space in the middle for you to sit as you sift through binders and bins. Their face value stamps fill up an entire shelf from top to bottom, but compared to the rest of the store is really nothing at all. I was greeted by a very nice lady who had no problems pointing me to the face value shelf (immediately to your right as you walk in). She explained to me how the stamps were organized (by denomination, then binder #). She then told me to feel free to take any binders and sit down in the middle of the room to look through them. I was there for almost 2 hours- in a nice air conditioned, well lit environment, and no one ever bothered me. The staff was all around and I could have easily asked for help at anytime, but no one ever tried to push me to look at anything other than what I was there for. I ended up leaving with about $30 worth of stamps - but most at face values of 2-8 cents each. I did manage to walk out with 2 full sheets of vintage stamps that I may very well end up never using because they are just too beautiful. I was so happy with my experience, I have been raving about this place to any of my friends who still write letters and would enjoy decorating their envelopes with gorgeous face value stamps. I definitely plan on coming back the next time I do someone's wedding invitations.

Avanti Press I love…read morelove love these greeting cards! I accidentally found the Avanti greeting cards at my local pharmacy. I'm a huge fan now. You will get sick of seeing me posting them. From now on when I need a card for a special someone I'm getting the Avanti Card. The cards are not only inexpensive but they are educational and classic photos. I love the black and white look. The details are creative. The sentiment is not run of the mill cookie cutter boring words. I don't know if they sell them where you live. I could be wrong, but it seems like card collecting has fallen by the wayside. So I figured, why not... Everything was right there for you to pick from. They have EVERYTHING, from current to old school. The guy there was extremely helpful and when he must've heard my son asking me about the packs of cards to put in his gift bags, the guy gave my son a little something extra for his birthday. (Was very nice of him and was a very nice gift). If you're like me and used to be in the card game, stop on in. Place is on point and who knows....
