Funnybooks Comics & Stuff - THE ICONIC RED BRICK COMIC BOOK SHOP

I'm not a big comic book guy, but I do appreciate the genre and I AM a big fan of the mainstream…read morecomic book characters...and so is my son. The difference is that he DOES like the comic books and graphic novels. So, on "Free Comic Book Day" a few Saturdays ago I brought my son to a couple of comic book shops and let him have some fun. He picked up the freebies, but also bought some others...which made me happy for him. Funnybooks is a really tiny shop, but the owner (Steve I think) was AWESOME with keeping people orderly and providing both assistance and keeping everyone smiling. In the space next to his shop he had a ton of other comics at discounted prices and also had some local artists that were quite amazing. My son has already asked to go back. How can I say no to a kid who loves to read and has found a way to connect his love of reading with his love of comic book heroes and villains?

There is also a nice little group of regulars that will hang out and talk to each other as they see each other in the store. We have since moved out of the area but my wife will still make it a point to go out of her way to support this small business. Im sure it helps having a nice owner. From one small business man to another..Thank you Steve for all you do and your hard work running this store. Please make sure that you stop by Funny Books if you can.

A very cool comic shop with a lot to offer for comic fans…read more With their ever-present Halloween decor and surprisingly organized interiors, Gotham Comics is not your run of the mill comic shop. From new issues to back log, everything has a neat and tidy place, making browsing quick and effortless. They place a variety of mid-level rare comics ranging in price from $15 to $40 near most of the comic shelves, which make for both excellent window shopping and dangerous impulse purchases. They have a nice selection of old and new comics, mostly from DC and Marvel, so Gotham might not be great if you're looking for more obscure or niche comic brands. Similarly, this is a comic shop first, and things like games have a small presence. I also have to mention the staff working at Gotham. The employee was super helpful, going above and beyond in looking for issues that I couldn't immediately find. He made my visit feel extra special. The only downside with this comic shop is that it isn't located closer to my home! Otherwise I'd go there every week!

Quaint little comic book shop that totally gives off the "local comic shop" vibe from the 90's…read more Take it for what it is, and don't expect it to have everything you're looking for. But if you're looking for mainstream new releases, chances are you'll find them on release day (maybe the week after too). Not too much else to look at, especially collectibles, so your visit will probably be a whole lot shorter than other comic book shops (which is better for your wallet). But if you're in the area and you're in a pinch for that new Batman comic, this is your place. It was a hot day when I visited and they just had a couple floor fans running. Nothing gets me out of a comic book shop faster than sweaty hands on loose/unbagged books. And for parking, expect to circle around a couple times (plan to pay for a meter). But service is super friendly and they take card. And like I said, for what it is/does it's still a 5 star place

The entrance is located in the back of the building and the store is only accessible via the stairs. Shop is split across two rooms, with the good selection of back issues divided among both rooms. Fat Moose Comics is worth stopping by when in the area, as it's one of the more traditional comic book shops you'll find that still primarily focus on comics.

My daughter called me recently and told me about Ray & Judy's Book Stop and wanted to meet me there...how could a Dad say no? I found a parking spot about a block away (there is only local parking, though there's a small Quick Chek across the street) and made my way over to the store. As of this writing, the owner still asks that anyone coming into the store wear a mask (he's an older guy so just do as he asks...if you don't want to mask up just go somewhere else). This small bookstore is laid out pretty well and they have a great collection of books. They have a pretty large selection of science fiction and westerns (my guilty pleasures), but really a nice collection of everything. These days so many people use electronic readers, but still have a love of having an actual book in my hand. I walked away from the store with a few nice purchases and my daughter had a full bag. Owner was a really nice guy, prices are good, it's well organized and they have a nice selection...for someone like me that's all I can ask so I'll be back.
