The atmosphere is hip and laid back! Nice place on the corner of the street. Walked in and immediately we were greeted and given time to look at the menu which is on the wall. They have plenty to choose from such as sandwiches, parfaits, muffins and more. I got a parfait I wasn't to hungry and a peppermint holiday special coffee. It was amazing! Such a great experience. Once I finally made my trek to the right address, I was immediately welcomed by a somewhat quaint establishment. Felt very homey and lively at the same time. Like family. I went during the cherry blossom festival to get some work done before enjoying the festivities and I must say the staff handled the heavy crowd splendidly! We dropped in here after running a race on Labor Day. Very quaint coffee place in the heart of Macon. This location is surprisingly larger inside than the outside suggests. Street parking is pretty much the main option and be prepared to pay for parking (except on Sundays and city holidays). They have 1-2 tables outside and plenty of seating inside (comfy, ledge, family tables). I don't they were expecting a lot of people but the long line went by fast enough. Staff was very friendly! The menu consisted of very light food: sandwiches, croissants, bowls, burritos and salads. I grabbed a cold brew caramel latte from their fridge (house made) and ordered a croissant (turkey, Brie, apple). The cold brew was really good, certainly recommend it! My croissant was meh. I guess I was expecting the flavors to pop out but it really was more or less something you'd pick up in the frozen section of a store and nuke. Wouldn't recommend the croissant but wish I had just tried a bowl instead. The atmosphere is decent here, and the coffee is good. If they could freshen up their sandwich prep, it would certainly give them a boost. 2.5 rounded up to a 3 for this visit. read more

I came here to do some work over a coffee and then grab lunch. The menu lists six possible sandwiches, which, according to the menu, can be ordered á la carte or in a lunch combo. I asked for the Brie, Apple, and Turkey sandwich, but they were out of apples and only had apple butter. So I asked for the chicken salad croissant, but they didn't have any croissants yet. So I went for the ham and cheese sandwich on a baguette, which is made off site, but which was available. I asked for the combo but was told the combo wasn't available with the ham and cheese sandwich. They heated it up, but it didn't get a toasty crunch. Finally, I didn't get it on a plate, but in a bag and had not been asked if I wanted it for dine-in or to go. After all of that, the sandwich itself was decently tasty. The coffee -- I got the medium roast -- was smoothe and delicious, the ambiance was nice, and the prices were good. The staff was friendly and courteous. The wifi signal was good. Overall, I was disappointed in this visit, but hope that the more egregious problems were a fluke. read more

Zbeans has been my favorite coffee from its beginning. Ordinary coffee needs cream and two sugars but I drink this coffee black because of its exceptional flavor. The cinnamon rolls are an additional draw. Also, there is service with a smile which is always appreciated. read more

Macon isn't the nicest city, and I was a little surprised to find this shop. The coffee was good, the inside of the shop was welcoming, and the service was quick and pleasant. Z Beans has locations in Downtown Macon and Mercer Village. I frequent the downtown store near during the week and the Mercer Village shop on weekends. Both locations are great. Coffee is consistently good. Staff is always super friendly! Owner is local, and his business has an endearing backstory. The menu extends beyond coffee, so you can order lunch sandwiches, pastries, or smoothies. I have no complaints, and I'll continue to buy Z Beans coffee. read more

This place has AMAZING breakfast sandwiches. It's rare to find places where you can get a sausage, egg, and cheese on a warm, crumbly biscuit. I *highly* recommend it. So far, it's my favorite breakfast sandwich in the area. The only downfall of my order was the drip coffee. It was not full-bodied or strong, but rather watery and tasted nearly burnt. I was the unfortunate sucker who bought a "breakfast burrito" at Z Beans... it was a microwaved tortilla with a pitiful helping of eggs, a packet of hot sauce, and bacon bits that cost me like $5.25 before tax. First impression - dirty! Display case was filthy. Floor was filthy. The person taking our order didn't greet us, just stood there looking at us when we walked up to order. The service was good and the atmosphere is OK, better than the one in Warner Robins. We have eaten breakfast at both locations more than once. We gave them a second chance since the first visit at both locations was soon after they opened. Here's the assessment, applies to both locations. The coffee and other beverages are good. The breakfast sandwiches are OK, but don't get a bagel. The bagels seam like something you would get from the freezer section of a grocery store. The other baked goods are marginal, some aren't really what they profess to be, the scones are just flat muffins. If this place wants to be my go to coffee shop, they have some work to do. read more

My husband and I have been going to Z Beans for awhile each Sunday. Up until two weeks ago, service has been great. Last week, we requested the special that was advertised on the chalkboard outside. It makes it sound like any 16 oz drink is available with this special. After we ordered and they rang up the price, which was significantly more than the advertised special, we asked why they didn't apply the special. They said it only applied to drip coffee and not to other types of drinks. This week, I ordered a 12 oz cappuccino and a danish. The gal at the register started getting a 20 oz cup. I said that looked like it might be a different size than what I ordered. After she rang my order up, it only came to the price of the coffee. I reminded her about the danish. She then muttered under her breath that I didn't order one. But I DID. I've done customer service. I get having things on my mind and being distracted. I've made mistakes in orders. I've had people that annoyed me for no particular reason or just rubbed me the wrong way. Really, I get it. There are days I didn't want to be at work and everything just irritated me. But the people you're serving ARE still paying customers. Sometimes you just have to paste on a smile and fake the positive vibes. I've really enjoyed going to Z Beans in the past. But if I'm paying $7 for coffee and pastry, I don't want a snippy attitude from a barista. But the coffee is still great. read more

Not much of a coffee drinker but I like chai tea and have tried several of the specialty drinks offered by ZBeans. All have been very good. The baristas have always been friendly and knowledgeable. The back story of the company is inspiring and they actually have a working relationship with all of the farmers from whom they buy coffee and chocolate. Both locations in Macon are great. And I have tried them ALL from Starbucks, Seattle's Best, Black Rifle, etc etc etc. I found ZBeans online, read the story of Shane began ZBeans and decided to try it because of where the beans come from, which makes it a superior coffee. This is now the ONLY coffee I drink - I order my subscription delivered to where I live in TEXAS. Customer service is great. I am so happy to see how the company has grown and opened shops in Georgia and see that now they have a more in Alabama and Florida. When I visit family in Georgia again I plan to visit one of the shops! I tried all the coffees and decided my favorite is Milton Rivadeneira's and also Caffe Marie's.
