Zbar Cattle Company for the win this July 4th. Some quality beef from their family-owned Sunset, Texas, ranch. No added hormones or antibiotics make a difference in the cook and tenderness. I couldn't wait to fire up the Weber and throw the filet mignons on. Put a good sear on them, then slid them over to the cool side to medium rare at 130, with a 5-minute rest, and got to it. Absolutely delicious! I will definitely make a point to stop in from time to time for those special cooks with friends and family. I wanted to make this place a regular stop. I was previously ordering from a farm that delivers but it's costly. This is my second visit here. I got the chicken home and smelled as if it had gone off. It had a mild rotten egg or fecal smell. It wasn't overwhelming but had a pretty solid enough odor going on that I felt was unsafe to eat. It was also a bit slimy. I drove right back and returned it. Are they not rotating their meat on a particular hard and fast schedule if they haven't sold it all each day? Not sure but it sure smells like they might just let it ride another day or two if they don't sell all of it. So, I don't think I can come back again, as I am dubious that they stick to a hard and fast meat rotation schedule. The staff was very pleasant, and I got a full refund, it's just that the food safety practices I'm not very confident in after my second visit. If I did go back, I would ask to smell the meat before they close up the bag. read more

I really love Z Bar Cattle. They have an excellent selection of meats to choose from, both frozen and fresh, their prices are just right and the quality is excellent. The staff is always willing to answer your questions and's explain the differences between different cuts and will even provide suggestions on what you should consider depending on what you're cooking. You can also custom order meats if you need to as well. We also love their bacon. It's incredibly flavorful and puts all grocery store bacon to shame. I have also purchased their jalapeño poppers multiple times which is a great way to skip the hassle of preparing your own if you're in a rush. I can't recommend Z Bar Cattle enough. Very friendly. They sell packaged raw dog food which was my main reason for going. My oldest dog absolutely loves it. They also have raw dog bones. The beef I purchased was delicious. Would definitely recommend. FYI they will save rib eye fat cuttings for you if you ask in advance. read more

Grass fed beef at it's finest! Man oh man am I glad I found this butcher house gem near my house. No longer will I be subjugated to inferior beef at the local grocery store and big box membership warehouse clubs! Z Bar Cattle is the place to go for BEEF! Yes it costs more but you really get what you pay for here. We picked up three rib eye's for fathers day, I posted pics of them, and they were beautiful. We slightly seasoned them and threw on some olive oil, grilled each side for six minutes and KAH-BAM! it was steak heaven! You can really taste the difference. I'm not sure if its due to the grass fed nature, or they take great care of their cattle, or maybe they whisper sweet nothings into the cattle's ears at night but wow you can tell the difference in top shelf or top bar quality fo their steaks. I also picked up their steak burger and Wagyu burgers, they were both excellent. But to be honest the Wagyu burger just had that extra marbling that did the trick. Going forward we will only get our beef from this fantastic butcher. I can't wait to try out the pork chops and bacon! read more

Finally hit the new brick and mortar location in Keller. Very impressive. They "will offer mostly beef from our ranch and will also feature local pork, chicken, and lamb. " Prices are on par with local grocery stores. We saw a lot of custom and thick-cut orders go out. Also in the refrigerated case were bull testicles. Not exactly sure what one does with those, but in case you are looking, look no more. We really came in just too look (we were next door at Ace Hardware), but left with a pound of thick cut bacon. This is just a nice, honest, local meat shop. The staff is very helpful, the service is wonderful, and the meat is some of the best around. We have their bacon and jalapeño poppers weekly. The 2 times that our items were not how we felt they should be this team just replaced them, with a smile and a "Thank you" for letting us make it right. My husband and I shop here as often as possible. Their opinions on social matters or funny cartoons do not change the quality of their product or even bother me. I like that we live in a country where they can be EXACTLY WHO THEY ARE. I usually get a good laugh and sometimes it sparks new and honest conversations with people I know. Stumbled upon this place in our community Facebook page. Decided to give it a go. Thoroughly impressed with their selection. Prices are higher than the grocery stores, but the meat is incredible. We ended up getting a whole rib roast for ribeye steaks, have gotten 2 briskets from them, a salmon flat, beef ribs, and a pork butt. I will not go anywhere else for any meat. Secondly, they have this bourbon honey. Spoke with the owner when we went in the second time and he wanted me to let him know how it was. I'm here to say that stuff is incredible! Fantastic substitute for raw honey if using on baked goods. Secondly, I used it on some of my pork that I made and it turned out amazing! Will definitely be back for a few more bottles! Last time I will go to Z bar. Excellent meats, but the customer service was the worst I've ever experienced. Walked in, no customers. I asked if they had plate ribs and the guy behind the counter said nothing for about 10 seconds, just stared at me like he wanted to kick me out of the place. He went back to get one, and his co worker apologized to me for him. I would have just left, but I had to cook later and had no other option. Oh well, won't ever be back. Went today to give this place a try and I was impressed by the staff and meat that were offered. The two men attending me were very friendly and willing to help answer any questions I had. Their meat has no hormones and some meat are grass fed. Although the prices are higher than normal, they are completely worth it! I cooked the sirloin that I bought and it was tender! Which is normally the toughest part of the meat. I especially enjoy that the mask is optional! The steak burger patties are some of the best meat I have ever bought. The fresh flavor is so much better than any grocery store I've ever been to. Today was my second trip in 5 days.
