I just got the new Kenwood DNX6990 in dash GPS/DVD/MP3.... PLAYER. It is awesome. I got reffered to them by a friend who had work done there. I talked with Ferris and he hooked up a good deal for me on the unit. I am very happy with installation of the stereo unit, it was installed perfect and works great. Everything matches my stock dash. The whole process of dealing with them was easy. The installation of the unit only took about 3 1/2 hours. I will definetely go back to them again when I am ready to get a sub and amp. I came here for two parts I needed in order to install a new Pioneer stereo in my wife's car. They had one of the parts but not the other. The guy (who was real nice but unfortunately I did not ask for his name) called one of his competitors in the area and asked him if he had the part. The attendants are not always easy to find but were helpful both times I was there. The second time I came in with my stereo removed but confused about the new wiring. The attendant came out, looked at my stereo components, affirmed with a computer that they would work with my car, then explained how I should fix my problem. No charge, no attempt to goad me into having them do it for me. Awesome help. read more

Where do I begin with this nightmare? So my fiance and I came in a couple of weeks ago to get the sub and amp deal. We were very happy with our initial purchase and returned to have it installed. The price was slightly more than we could pay up front so we decided to do financing. With the financing we were able to add more to our car. $1300 later we were excited that our car was going to get fixed up. We dropped off our car this morning and a couple hours later the elderly man called and asked if he could fix our lock on our door. My fiance explained we didn't have the cash for it today so we would come in another day, but the owner insisted we so it today and he would add it to our financing. Fast forward to 5:30pm we call because we haven't heard anything but they let us know our car is done. Once we get there Mike told us we have to pay $90 or we can't get our car back (illegal). We explained that we didn't have cash on us at the time and we couldn't pay for it today and this isn't what we were told on the phone. Immediately Mike got aggressive with us and told us he's keeping our car. I had to call the cops before he gave me my keys back. This place seems to be extremely unethical. They don't care about customer service. I told Mike that I'm going to write a review about this experience and he threatened to sue me and take off my warranty for all the parts he put in AND charge more to my credit line. Went in to get look at some subwoofers. I had to practically pry this little old guy out of his chair and cigarette to show me some speakers. The guy pointed out one subwoofer and walked back outside to sit down and finish his cigarette, and then started messing around on his smartphone. Worst customer service and installation. They installed a tv/dvd player in my truck and drilled through the roof(tips of the screws were visible. I found out months later when getting my truck detailed. Went back to the shop and they told me that it was past the Warranty time. When I asked to speak to the owner all gentleman said that it's a large company that owns the stereo shop. Later found out that that all gentleman was the actual owner. Took my truck to another stereo shop where they pointed out how bad of an installation when it came to the buyers they actually did. Gave them numerous chances to correct their mistake but would not do so. read more

Okay. Left here two times frustrated. I had been a loyal customer here for about 17 years. Went yesterday & today hoping to find my favorite guy Ferris. I think he is no longer working here. Poor customer service. Wanted to charge me $39.50 just to check out what I thought might be a fuse. The guy today ignored me for quite a while & kept talking on his personal cell phone outside & smoking a cigarette. Went to the installer & told him what I needed in Spanish. He told me to talk to the guy up front. Was ignored when pulled up to the front of the store & he was sitting out there on the phone. Then when I parked & went inside I was ignored. With no customers in the store or a car in their shop. I left there & found a new shop. Wrote my first Yelp for other shop & this 2nd Yelp for Z Auto. Never going back there!!!! read more

Absolutely horrible experience. Installer looked at my right tweeter, and I paid the $39.00 labor fee to check it out, the installer with the beard used filthy language with the F-word when I simply asked, "can you check for a loose connection"?, just for asking that question. After he raised his voice and he lied and said I called him a skum bag, I wanted to pay the $39.00 and leave. This is how you talk to a customer. This never happened to me anywhere else like this. Screwed up auto sound shop. In addition Ash the manager was rude. He gave me a refund and I didn't ask for one. I can afford the $39.00 but I would not tolerate the horrible language and rude customer service of the installer and Ash. There used to be a Hispanic gentlemen there who was very friendly and took care of me very well. These horrible people made me absolutely uncomfortable when I was there, and will make sure I recommend to everyone I know never to have their car sound worked on here. I would have probably moved forward and had the job done to replace the tweeter, but they way this installer and Ash acts towards a customer, screw this. I have bought a lot of equipment there over the years, from the previous owner but not anymore. They are bunch of liers and accused me of being one. I am reasonable. read more

This is probably one of the best auto service places out there. They had incredible service and were willing to help me with whatever I asked. I originally came in because my radio had a blown fuse, but when they reconnected my usb port wouldn't turn on so I had to come back later in the day, and when I did they were happy to help without another charge! This place is terrible. I bought a pair of LED headlights for my truck here which were reasonably priced, however when installing them, they broke a piece of the headlight, didn't tell me, and decided to tape it up. I left, figured they have finished, and a few days later had my truck washed. I noticed water in my headlight so I popped my hood only to discover that they had taped my headlight together where the light clips into the back of the headlight housing. I went back and they ordered me a part on ebay to fix what they had done. Once the part came in, I went back to have them remount my headlight. In the process of them re-mounting the light, they dropped a clip into the headlight so they had to take the grille off my truck just to get the headlight off. When installing the new clip, they drilled a screw in leaving lots of residue and dust in the inside of my headlight, and told me that I was holding up their next customer so I had to get out of their way. Overall terrible customer service, and I don't think they care about doing a terrible job installing even headlights. Won't recommend this place to anyone fair and square. Awful experience and I won't be surprised if I still need a new headlight. read more

Scam artists at work (Owned by Persians of course) Went in right before black Friday I just needed a new head unit. Dude wanted to charge 200 bucks for it so I left a deposit to see if I can find a better deal somewhere else. I searched on Ebay the unit cost was only 50 bucks and the harness was 5. So I decided to install it myself seeing that youtube helps a lot. I tried to go get a refund and the dude was like "Mike isn't there so we can't refund you." comeback in 45 mins. then the dude said I can't get a refund on a deposit because it's state law "after 3 days". Here's what I'll do I'll let them have the 25 bucks I deposited and I'll just spam this review for a week straight. I should have read the yelp reviews before I came here!!! Dumbass me. Stay away from this place! I have never dealt with such incompetence and deceit in my whole life. I have hear nothing but bad things and didn't realize the severity until i witnessed first hand. First, I was quoted a price for a big install that included the stereo, speakers, parts and labor but it miraculously dropped a couple of hundered dollars each time i talked to the head guy at the front counter. it started at $2400 for everything and ended up at $1800 by the time everything was sorted out, that tells me they were high balling and trying to get some extra cash out of the deal. Dishonest. Then when it came time for install, the keys were dropped off and not more than 20 minutes later, I received a phone call saying that they don't have an In dash kit for the stereo. Wouldn't you check for that prior to installation and producing an invoice and collecting money?! So i decided to not go through with deal because they wanted me to leave the car overnight and the whole deal seemed shakey since the beginning anyway. Then, the fun begins. I was told that I wouldn't get my money back because they can still install everything else. I then demanded my money back because they were shady and obviously dont know how to do business. So, now they're saying I have to atleast purchase the stereo from them, at some outrageous price becuase "had to" order and pay for the stereo from an outside source (why?). After making a few phone calls, i realized that i can go to another stereo place and get all the speakers and services done for a fraction of the price and STILL save money even though Z Auto overcharged me for the stereo. After everything was said and done, they were trying to make it seem like I was the cause for everything going down the way it did but in actuality if they knew how to do business, we could've worked something out. This is MY story but from what I gather, other people that have gone here that I personally know as well as reading some of the horror stories already posted on here, I'm convinced that this place is shady, dishonest, unprofessional and deceitful. If you don't believe me or think that i'm just upset about a bad experience, read some of the other reviews that sound similar to my experience so you can get a feel for what you are getting yourself into. There are plenty of other audio shops around and we as consumers do not have to put up with this terrible service. This is a fair and honest summary of my experience and others apparently so please take my word for it, STAY AWAY! P.S. Good try guys! My brother and I bought a head unit adapter for our mom for Christmas so she could put a new head unit into her car. The item cost about $40. When we gave it to her, she said she would rather have something else instead. My mom and I went to take the item back and they refused and said if we wanted to talk to a manager, we could come back another day. We came back when the manager was in, and he refused as well and was extremely rude. We then have him a choice to return the item and get the merchandise back so they could resell it, or we would cancel the credit card charge. He told us that he would rather have us do that or sue him than return the item. Really? For $40?!? He started going off on how they have been in business for 13 years... My family owns a business and we know how detrimental bad customer service can be, and that is why we have been in business for over 40 years. A few years ago I put deposit down for a new radio and they refused to refund me or honor the original deal just 5 mins later. I was deciding between 2 radios. They offered me one at about $400 and another at $200. They said they were low on stock so I put a deposit down to hold one. I went to my car, thought about and decided to go with the cheaper one. When I came back they refused to honor the price on the cheaper one and asked who made me that deal. I pointed the guy out and he snuck out to the back. So I demanded my money back and they wouldn't return it. I was younger then and didn't know what to do. Where do I start I just bought a car and went in giving this place a chance considering the low reviews it has. I walked in not knowing anything about car audio and wanted the guy to check out my car and he did and told me all I required was one amp to have everything work. So being uneducated in this topic I went ahead and bought it and they sent me to their shop across the street. After the installation was done the guy told me another amp was required to have my subwoofer to work and the guy before saw what he had to work with and only offered me one . So I bought another amp and went the next day to get it installed. I had an appointment at two and my car wasn't ready until 7. Turns out the subwoofer didn't work to begin with but they went ahead and installed it and did not mention anything to me until I asked them about it and they offered me a sub at a "deal", being over their horrible service I rejected the offer. The customer service was horrible to begin with and I still gave them a chance. Now I have to amps in my car with out the sound I want. Really disappointed going to another location to get everything fixed. read more

I just want to have a system that sounds decent without nefarious people ripping me off. My stereo still doesn't work. Rollin like it's 1992 cuz of these guys. I came in to have some speakers replaced because they sounded like they were blown. I was also hearing a whine from the head unit. I made a deal for $750 for a basic head unit, (4) 6" speakers and the amp to run them because apparently the one I had "was no good". They said it would be installed in 2 or 3 hours but then called me to ask for 6 more hours and mike ensured me that I would be so happy and they were gonna fix all my stuff. Well, they made me give them my old head unit which I coulda got a few bucks off eBay for, and after I waited 6 more hours to pick it up, I was not "so happy" because my steering wheel controls didn't work. Tony said he already ordered it for me and he could put it in in 10 min. Well, I'm here now and they want $60-$80 to do it. BS! You should've told me it wouldn't work before you messed with it. Now I have paid $750, gave them my head unit, waited the extra time so " I could be so happy" and I'm still rollin like it's 1992. Still have engine whine. read more

Z Autosound Plus has been around in Orange for several years. Their previous service manager "Chris" was fantastic. After my experience with the new manager "Ash" and reading other recent reviews is evident that their service and ethics are burnt. Ash gave me a very good $160 quote for a purchase and installation for a Viper car alarm. When I returned for service, Ash switch up the price to $250. I confronted Ash about his previous offer, Ash replied showing me a $395 receipt of an installation for the same item and explained to me that he is not in the practice a price matching. The issue was not about price matching, but just that he honored his own words to customers. I took my business elsewhere and received the same product with installation for $135 from Pacific Stereo on Harbor Blvd. read more

I was quoted over the phone to replace my antenna that it would be $50. When I got there they said it was going to be $150. I told him that was way more than I wanted to spend, so he said he would do it for $100 but not to tell the old man inside because he would charge me more. Again I said too much he said $80 & that they were going to have to rewire all the way to the stereo system so basically it was for the labor. When I was watching them I noticed that they didn't rewire anything. He put on the entanna & adapter in all of five minutes. When I asked about it, he did that they could just put on an adapter and they didn't need to rewire my car but it was still going to be $80 I said So it should be less. He then told me that the antenna was $40, the adapter was $30 and it was $10 for the labor. I asked him why so much for the parts when on Amazon I can get the antenna for $9 and the adapter for $6. Got bamboozled! Shop around is my advice. read more
