I truly love this woman! I found her after moving to MA from MI via a google search and choose her b/c she did her residency at St. John's Hospital in Detroit and @ that time I was in dire need of something/anything mid west related- you would only understand if you had ever lived there. Anyway, I only go to her for my annual physical but she is so professional/patient focused that I referred my boyfriend as well. She is so caring and actually takes the time to ask questions and not only listen to but answer all of mine w/o making me feel like I am taking up her time. She has a bedside manner like no other and I'll miss her someday when I leave MA. I also love Amie- Dr. Mandel's administrative assistant- so sweet and if Amie says she'll find something out for you, she means it- always smiles and makes you feel like you made a great decision by going to their office. The waiting room is clean and there is a t.v to help pass the time if there is a wait. You won't mind if you do have to wait b/c you know that you'll get the same attention that Dr. Mandel is giving to whoever she has is the exam room. read more

I was disappointed with my Primary Care Provider and my Gynecologist recommended I try Dr. Yuliya Mandel. I made an appointment and visited Dr. Mandel and was blown away at her professionalism, honesty and downright knowledge of anything I was either curious about or interested in. She is a hands-on doctor who not only shows you how you currently stand health wise but helps you maintain or get to where you feel you want to be or where she thinks you have the potential of going. I would go as far as saying that she could easily be a life coach as well - she is just that well rounded and genuine about what she does. read more

I have seen Dr Mandel for many years. Last week, one week before my yearly wellness visit was scheduled, I ran out of my blood pressure medication. My pharmacy called Dr Mandel's office and the refill was denied. This is shocking to me. Today I went for my wellness visit to find out I had a bill for my last wellness visit because of high blood pressure. I had never seen a bill for this and when I checked my EOB her office had submitted a bill for "emergency visit" so they would get paid extra for this part of my wellness visit. I have to say that I've always been happy with Dr Mandel. The problem is with her office staff. I can not believe that Dr Mandel would have refused my medication refill. read more

I used to loathe going to the Dr.'s Office, it seemed like all the patients were treated as $$ and not people. Since going to Dr. Mandel, she has totally changed my mind on that! Her staff is super friendly and Dr. Mandel just puts me so at ease. I love that she is young and hip and talks to me to see what is going on. She doesn't push me out of the office after 5 minutes like so many Doctors do. She even gives out her personal cell number in case you need to get a hold of her during off hours. I needed to change Dr and like the services in that area versus Anna Jacques. I went to Dr Mandell and she is awesome. I disagree about her bedside manor as she is the most pleasant doctor I have ever had. She is the most thorough also. She takes the time to review and tell you completely about your blood work, tests, etc. She does not chance anything and is quite clear about everything she is doing. She is what we should have in a family practitioner -and covers all the bases. My husband, daughter and parents now go to her and they too are extremely impressed with her. Stay away. Very disappointing. You would think at first that she knows what she is talking about. She is just in it for the money. Do not be tricked by the appearance. Make sure they are not billing you incorrectly. They will never fix the problem. You will be left stranded between your insurance and the lab. Very unprofessional and rude staff. They know nothing about the culture of dealing with patient. Do not expect any follow ups on any issue you have with them. They will change their word and will deny they even talked to you. Dr. Mandel is a new lady in town and a superb doctor so far. Young, hip, intelligent, compassionate, and very funny, so far she has been a great physician. Not only is she a general practitioner but I believe she specializes in dermatology as well. She has managed to get me cracking up at each of my office visits... something I don't expect from a doctor. think she graduated from medical school within the last several years so she is on top of the latest procedures and not stuck in the dark ages like some other doctors. Furthermore, she treats you like a person and not another long list of cases waiting to be seen. If you're looking for a doctor, I would recommend Dr. Mandel to anyone. The office staff is very warm and pleasant, the facilities are clean and up to date, and Dr. Mandel is great. read more

The problem is with the front desk and/or phone staff, especially a person named Amy. she cancelled my appointment, was extremely rude on the phone when I discussed the urgency of my appointment. Had an appointment on Thursday, was re-scheduled until wed. I asked if I can have an earlier appointment for antibiotics, she told me I can take it or leave it., hung up on me and took the phone off the hook after I asked to speak with an office manager. I would not recommend this provider if they cannot hold their staff responsible for their actions. Again this review is regarding the staff, and well reflects poorly on the physicians office as a whole. Will be reporting this to my insurance carrier as far as being badly treated and humiliated as a patient. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Mandels for about 3 years. She was my primary care provider. Over the 3 years, I rarely had to see a doctor. The last year I saw her I had the most issues. When i went for my physical I found it odd that she would not look into any other issues I had and told me I would have to schedule additional appointments for any other issues or symptoms as my physical was for my overall well visit and not for a sick visit. I had never experienced this before and found it odd. She was persistent in replacing my OB-GYN for that part of a physical even though I had stated several times I went to a specialist for that and it was not part of my exam. She always seems frustrated with this. When I complained about stomach issues she told me to wait until my next physical after trying a coal supplement and see how I felt before she would refer me to a gastro specialist per my request. It turned out later after seeing a specialist I had severe gastrointestinal issues and I was not happy I had to wait so long to find them all out under pain, and severe distress. Under her care there were many issues I had with her that I felt she wasn't seeing through. If i ever called the office, I would leave a message with Amy (her front desk admin) who I felt would belittle me in my requests and questions and rarely called me back with a valid response. I would have to call back several times before getting what I needed, if ever. I also felt Dr. Mandel's bedside manner was really lacking. Felt like she talked down time me often and made me feel silly for any concerns I had. She would give me free samples of lotions from her practice to sell them, i felt like she was all about making money off me. I got an ear piercing and it turned out to get infected and painful. After calling Mandel's office several times the response I got was that I should go to the place that pierced my ear for follow-up care. This was truly shocking!! So I should go back to the teenager in the small store front for medical care?? Really?!? It turned out, it never healed and I had to see a plastic surgeon a year later to manage the area and be put on antibiotics for the infection! At this point I was truly taken back by the overall level of care, rudeness and lack of attention Mandel and her staff had shown me. I felt like I was a good patient, rarely complained about any issue and when I did was treated badly. I immediately switched from Dr. Mandel's care. It seemed, all the referrals I had given her were also complaining to me about their lack of care as well. Various issues across the board, but no one seems happy. I am a former patient and this review reflects customer service. I tried to request information from when I was a patient there and the person I spoke to was extremely rude and talked over me, telling me I wasn't understanding her. I said I didn't remember why I was prescribed a particular medication from almost 9 years ago and needed that information. I was told "I am not a doctor I can't tell you that. How can you not remember, you need to remember what medication you were on." I couldn't believe that was the response I got, I asked to speak with someone else and was told there was no one else I could speak to. I then said no offense, but I will try back the next day. I tried again, and got the same person. I asked once more to speak to someone else and the response I got was "I don't know why you insist on speaking to someone else, I already answered your question." I never was able to speak with anyone else or get the information I need. I am so disappointed in the customer service and the way that I was spoken to, and the fact that there was no effort to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, this is not a reflection on the Doctor herself but I can only speak for the one person who I dealt with, since I was not allowed to speak with anyone else in this office. read more

I started going to Dr. Mandel after my son was born in 08. I was happy with her as a person but aggravated that her physicals were two appointments. Of course insurance will only pay for one. I recommended her to my father , my friend and a few others that needed a new PCP. Recently I have come to realize her office is not being run properly. She made my father pay 150.00 (cash) because the office help said his insurance did not cover a physical, when in fact it covered it 100%. Even after BC/BS called and confirmed this information, they would not refund my father the money. Her practice is shady and although she may be a good PCP, there are some shady money practices going on here. A complaint has been filed and they are refusing to refund the money. Needless to say, her office is ripping people off.. How good of a Dr. can you be if you can't even have trustworthy office help??!!??
