After 15-20 minutes of him sitting there in crisis, I went to the desk and asked when they were going to admit him. The staff flat-out told me: "There's nothing we can do for him." Let that sink in. A hospital ER telling a parent there's nothing they can do for a critically injured teenager. Only after I called 911 from the waiting room to try to get an ambulance to a real hospital did they finally admit him. Once inside the ER, things only got worse. A nurse was scrubbing his face so roughly he was crying from the pain. My son, who hours earlier had crashed his dirt bike, lifted it off himself, kick-started it, and drove it out of the woods with a dislocated vertebrae, a broken nose, and a lacerated liver, whispered to me through tears: "Please keep her away from me." That's how brutal their "care" was. It then took three hours before they even performed a CT scan. That scan revealed what was obvious from the start: severe injuries and internal bleeding. At that point, the doctors immediately put him on a med flight to Boston because he never should have been left untreated here in the first place. This hospital gambled with my son's life. Their delay and outright negligence could have cost him everything. If you live in this area, don't make the mistake we did--drive straight to Boston. Anna Jaques is nothing more than a dangerous holding pen pretending to be a hospital. Zero compassion. Zero urgency. Zero competence. Anna Jaques Hospital is a disgrace.

I had made it clear to everyone my fear of needles and my prior medical trauma experiences. she made a complete loud mess of the room by throwing equipment out of the way. she warned me AFTER poking me that she was poking me. i cried and hyperventilated the entire time. she was cold and rushed. this is unacceptable in patient care. i work in animal care and there are times to call it and try a new route based on your patients comfort. she is not fit for this position. i would like to hear back from someone about this or her superior.

I didn't poop that day. when I left here, I had blood in me feces for days due to inflammation in my digestive tract from not having access to the foods my body needs. We arrived at the Emergency Department at approximately 4:15 AM, and after an incredibly long wait, we were still there at 11:22 PM. I understand that emergency departments can become extremely busy and that wait times can vary based on patient needs. However, what concerned me most was not only the length of the visit, but the lack of communication, urgency, and compassion we experienced throughout the day. Earlier in the day, my boyfriend was seen by Dr. Dylan. Unfortunately, despite being in significant pain, his care seemed unnecessarily delayed. His CT scan and IV treatment were not initiated until after the shift change, leaving him waiting for hours while continuing to suffer. It felt as though valuable time had been wasted instead of moving forward with the necessary testing and treatment. Later, Dr. Schyla Wante came in to speak with us. She asked whether my boyfriend had health insurance. Since we were visiting from another state, I politely asked if she could check whether his MassHealth insurance was on file in the system. Instead of answering my question or attempting to assist, she responded, "I don't know, you need to ask him," and walked away while I was still speaking. I found this interaction to be dismissive, unprofessional, and lacking the compassion that patients deserve, especially in an emergency setting. As someone who previously worked in a hospital in Miami, Florida, I understand that healthcare professionals work under pressure. However, patient care is about more than providing medical treatment--it also includes communication, respect, empathy, and making patients and their families feel heard. Those qualities were noticeably absent during much of our experience. I would also like to recognize Nurse Becca, who was the one staff member who consistently demonstrated kindness, professionalism, and excellent communication. She made an otherwise frustrating experience much more manageable, and I truly appreciate the care she provided. I hope this feedback is taken seriously. Patients come to the emergency room scared, in pain, and looking for compassionate care. While I understand that delays can happen, there is no excuse for poor communication or dismissive behavior. I encourage the hospital to review this encounter and continue working to improve patient relations and the overall patient experience.

The discharging PA falsified my Medical record, with Q&A's that never occurred and he was caught later and admitted he made them up d/t "being too busy with too many discharges at once." But he was "sorry for lying". I was told by the family of my "roommate" who witnessed and heard all of the mistreatment that I would have been treated much better if I was Spanish. I had to complain to get her in a room so her medical concerns could be private and not aired in the hallway in front of everyone. Best part is they sat us in front of an empty room and 5 minutes later put someone else in that room??
