2026 has been loaded with a lot of "only me" moments, and my recent trip to this Best Buy was no…read moreexception. I had the misfortune of my car's screen conking out on me, so I decided to try to have Geek Squad do an installation. I booked an appointment online and it's like pulling teeth trying to figure out exactly which parts to buy since you need to go to your appointment with everything ready. There are many components needed if you want a new screen that will work with your backup cam and/or steering wheel controls. Prior to the appointment, I went with my fiancé to inquire about which screens would be the best option for me. We went to the Geek Squad desk, and I explained to an employee that I had an upcoming appointment. I said I wanted to get input from GS in advance on which radios I should browse at the store. The employee walked away and came back a few minutes later to tell me, "The auto technician isn't in right now, but he'll be here tomorrow. So, we can make suggestions today, but they might not be the best suggestions." This was one of the most ridiculous interactions I've ever had at a store, I couldn't believe the absurdity of it. So I wasted my time going there, now I should waste even more time by going again in hopes of speaking to someone for a pretty simple question? After this absolute joke, I cancelled my appointment and ended up going to a specialty shop that knew what they were doing.

So I bought an iphone 8 from ReFone. Fully refurbished, but no where did it say that the water…read moreproof, or even water resistant feature was nixed. The phone got very wet for a very short amount of time. I figured no big deal. I tried to turn it on immediately after and it still worked, so I dried it off and set it out to dry. It never came back on, so I did the rice thing. Still nothing. I contacted the company and they said I could return it. I had only had it about a week. Ended up being super shoddy, because in a few days the back of the phone came off. I have no idea what that was about, but seems it was a horrible refurbish job in the first place. Well today they issued me a refund of $2.84 on an order of 281.11, their reason was the sim card tray was so scratched they could not determine it was the phone they sent me. I had the phone for a week, if it was scratched it came that way from them. I don't have a treasure trove of iphones laying around. But I cannot prove it and that's what scammers use. They get garbage, resell it to a sucker like me. Then when it breaks they keep your money. Stay far away from refone. Or check for a scratched sim card tray, no idea what that's about, maybe I need a microscope. When you have a company that scams people, they assume everyone is also a scammer. While I'm not, I sent back the phone they sent me a couple weeks after they sent it and it was garbage. The only way the tray was damaged was if it came that way from them. So make sure to check your sim card tray because if they pulled this on me, I bet they pulled this on someone else too. This is the garbage they sent me, then wanted to claim it was me that switch phones on them. So they wrap up garbage, ship it to unsuspecting people, then when it breaks, they get it back and claim the user switched it out. No way to prove it, but there is a way to warn people.

I was charged $266, and she kept getting a message that the screen was not compatible with iPhone and glitching. She took it back today because it stopped working altogether. Same guy said they don't give refunds, but for today only he will replace the screen for 1/2 PRICE!! Are you kidding me??? The. He told her it was cracked, she must have dropped it, when it's not cracked at all! I had been trying to call there for days, no answer and mailbox full, and emails from their advertised email comes back not deliverable, not a valid email. This place is a scam, do not go here. EDIT TO ADD: Phone was taken to Apple Store immediately after leaving his store for second time. We now have a letter stating the battery swelled due to improperly installing a new screen with inferior parts, causing the phone to completely shut down. I now have to take him to small claims court, which I will, for the original $266.56 + the cost of a replacement phone that he destroyed. If he wasn't so stubborn to be an ass to a young girl and just issue a refund, he wouldn't have this review nor end up in court.
