I contacted Mariah Dunbar about noon on Monday with a horrific noise in my rear brakes. She said if I brought it in now they could look at it and perhaps work on it that afternoon. I did and they completed a rear brake job before closing that evening. I received a rough estimate prior to disassembly and inspection. The technician called later and the estimate was right on. He found no additional problems with the brakes. The technician listed on the invoice is M. Petrick. I believe that is who I talked to but I didn't have a place to write it down. Took my SUV to a competitor down the road that said I needed a complete front and back brake job. They wanted 1K. Thankfully, I took it to Youngstedt's for a second opinion and they were very honest. They were able to let me know that I still had plenty of brake life left (front and back) and that "they would love my money but they couldn't justify taking it". They took the time to explain everything to me even though I've worked in the industry. We were getting ready to head out of town when we got in the vehicle and nothing... it wouldn't start. In desperation we called Youngstedt's in the hope something could be done. Miraculously they said they would have the tow truck at our house within an hour and they would take a look at it right away. They went above and beyond to diagnose the problem and had it figured out in no time. The part was ordered and we were out the door within 3 hours of the initial call. We didn't say anything at the time but we were dealing with a death in the family (the reason for our trip) so the great service we received made a world of difference. I needed an oil change for my 2017 GMC. The local dealerships had not been good to me so I looked up some local places and Youngstedts had great reviews. They got me in same day. Nice waiting area with tv and coffee. I asked if they could look at my brakes. They finished working and told me what other repairs I needed. Chris at the desk was great! He didn't give me the normal overly urgent speech. He causally told me what I needed and I asked him questions. He was respectful and professional. Price seemed reasonable and I came back a couple days later and they did my brakes and a few other things. So I didn't have to wait all day they had Brady drive me home ( Uptown ) and come pick me up when they were finished. Brady is a great guy and very kind to drive. Chris also noticed I was missing 2 center caps with the GMC emblem. I told they were stolen from my driveway. He called and ordered replacements. I'm very leary of mechanics. My dealer had been charging me for oil changes when they were covered by my warranty. Dishonest. With this crew I felt they had a work ethic. You don't find that alot anymore. Maybe it's because Youngstedt's is a family run business. I'm guess they treat their employees with respect. Because that's what I felt from Chris, Brady and the crew there. So you guys got me life! Most of us know when we are getting gouged or not on pricing estimates, brought my Tahoe into here for a brake check as the pedal was feeling too soft but it had only been 15000 miles since all the brakes were done in 2014, in a pinch for time I agreed to their extremely high estimate of 1800 for all corners, rotors calipers, final bill was way over 2000 as he told me it would not start for them that morning and needed a new $180 battery, as I argued with Alex about padding the bill by at least 700 dollars, I knew I would never bring another vehicle to a YoungSteads ever again as we have brought in at least 10 different vehicles in for service over the last 12 years between this outlet and Hopkins, My Tahoe was never fixed with my braking issues and was now making a grinding noise and was not bringing it back here so I got second opinion as it was becoming dangerous to drive, brought it to S&S auto repair in Chanhassen and was showed both my front bearings were close to catastrophic failure and was repaired for another $1000 which was my original braking issue, at least I found a new repair shop I can trust read more

Botched oil change results in engine failure and no refund I recently received an oil change from Youngstedts at their Hwy. 7 location on my Camry (second time oil change customer). A few days after the oil change, the vehicle shut off suddenly on two separate occasions within a 24 hour period and I noticed an ongoing fluttering sound coming from the engine when in a certain RPM range. I promptly took the vehicle to the Toyota dealership to have it checked out. The Toyota technicians reported back that when the oil was last changed an oil filter o-ring had been "cut", resulting in significant oil loss and some potential damage to the engine. I contacted Youngstedts and requested a refund for the oil change. They requested a receipt / service report which I photocopied and sent. A few days later I received a note back saying they needed a physical copy of the original service report from Toyota, so they could make a copy of it and send it in to management. I asked why my copy would not suffice, and they stated it wasn't legible. However, every word on the service report copy is legible. I then sent a picture of the document (not a photocopy) and asked if this was okay. They said no, they needed the original, delivered in person, so they could make their own copy. I explained to them I live far away and that I have a 5-week old baby (time is hard to find), then asked if they could make an exception, given the circumstances. The answer - no - they needed the original, delivered in person. Suffice it to say, the $50 refund isn't worth any more of my time or effort. I'm not sure where the customer service breakdown occurred or why Youngstedts staff thought it efficient / practical / in their own best interest to spend multiple hours crafting a dozen emails instead of just refunding me $50, but I challenge Youngstedts owner / management team to take a look at these inefficiencies and consider what's more costly: $50 to cover-up their bad work vs. many hours of staff time and this terrible review. read more

Extremely horrible experience at Youngstedt's Goodyear Store located at 14950 Highway7, Minnetonka, MN 55345. On Dec 2nd (Sunday) my Honda Pilot wouldn't start after I dropped off my son at tennis practice. AAA came trying to jump start the car but it wasn't battery issue. I ended up having the car towed to the Minnetonka Youngstedt's store near my house. I called when the store opened the next morning (Dec 3rd) and informed them that I had my car towed there the night before. I stopped later in the morning and dropped off my key and asked them to check the starter. They indicated that they would perform a Charging/Bettery system test. They sent me an email during the day indicating that the car started fine possibly not in park position when I tried to start it. They also indicated that the car needed an oil change. I called back on Monday night and agreed that they could go ahead to do the oil change. The store called on Tue morning (Dec 4th) informing me that brake pad was thin and steering pump needed to be fixed with approx. cost of $1600. I asked them to write up a quote and email back to me. I did not receive any additional call or email during the day. I stopped by at 6pm to pick up my key and get more detail on what fixes were needed. They printed out the quote for me and now not only brake pads need to be replaced, brake calipers also need to be replaced. Including power steering pump, the total cost is now more than $2500. I told them that I would consider after I discussed with my husband. I would take the key with me for now. First the person tried to charged me the oil change ($26.95) and the Charging/Better system test ($39.95), I said they never did the test as my car was working just fine. Then he tried to charge me the oil change and the brake inspection, I said I never requested a brake inspection. I ended up paying for the oil change only. Before handing me back the key, they said they needed to put wheels back. I was curious why wheels were not back on after the oil change. I went back to the shop at night after the store closed to pick up my car but noticed the steering wheel was so tight that I couldn't turn. It was very difficult to steer and I was quite afraid of getting into accident driving back home. I called the store next day on Dec 5 and talked to Eric. I asked for Service Manager and he said his name was Dave. I told him about my experience was and the car was also making noise. It didn't feel like it just had an oil change. To be honest, I am not sure if they actually did it or not. Dave said they noticed pump fluid leaking with 3x5 size puddle during the day. I said the person drove the car out to the parking lot must have noticed how tight the power steering wheel was and why they didn't notify me before handing me the key. He said they filled the pump fluid right before they took the car out and the fluid might have leaked afterward. I told Dave that I would try to put fluid in and see if it leaked. On Dec 8th, my husband put the steering pump fluid in and it didn't leak. The power steering was still not working and the steering wheel was still very tight and difficult to drive. I called the store again and asked to talk to Dave, the Service Manager. The person I talked to said there was no Dave working there and he is the service manager and his name is Alex. They are the same person as he remembered talking to me the other day. I wrote down my first conversation with Dave on Dec 5th, I wondered why he made up a name when I first talked to him. Very interesting. Maybe Dave is the real name and Alex is the made up name. I understand Auto shop tends to upsell services but putting someone in danger to get business is very unprofessional and shady practice. Now I will most likely have the car towed to a more reputable shop or dealership to be on the safe side. Alex indicated that I should bring my car back to have it looked at again. I am afraid that they would do more damage and upsell me more services. I will never take my car back to the Minnetonka Youngstedt's. read more

Do not give this Youngstedts your business! I brought my car in because I was having a few issues, and asked them to tell me about the safety of my car, also getting an oil change. They charged me $110 for the diagnostic (for those who don't know, a diagnostic is when a mechanic uses a computer to give codes on a lit check-engine light) and also gave me a "free" safety check on my car, acting as if they were doing a favor for me. What I received back was around a $2,300 estimate of work and three groups of papers that they indicated needed to be done to my car. I was told my car was not safe to drive (instilling within me fear of driving the vehicle down the road) and that the total labor time would be 15 hours. I took my car into another shop to get a second opinion and a diagnostic, because the car is not worth as much as the work they claimed needed to be done. They were forward, honest, told me what should be done eventually and what could wait to be done, and told me my car was safe to drive. They did not charge me for the diagnostic. Please do not give this Youngstedts your business. I feel taken advantage of as a woman, ripped off, and am disappointed because this business was referred to me, and I trusted them going into having my car diagnosed. read more

Got my oil changed on my 2014 Ford Focus here in August of 2017. During the service, they told me I had a leak in my timing case or something and I should take the vehicle to the dealer because it should be covered under warranty. Sure enough there was a leak and the dealer fixed it free of charge. Thank you Youngstead's for the professional and correct diagnosis. read more

I've been a loyal Youngstedt's customer over the years, and on Monday, 3/13/17 Youngstedt's Minnetonka replaced the serpentine belt on my 2006 Honda CRV, and charged me $111.47 for the part (K070683) which I believe to be a huge markup, as I believe I could buy the part myself for about $36.00. I don't know what the standard markup on parts is, or what the markup would be somewhere else, but this seems to be very high. I do expect have the price of this part marked up at any auto repair shop, but this seems to be excessive to me. Prior to the installation of the belt, I was told by the salesperson that this particular belt was very expensive, but I assumed that it was an expensive part for Youngstedt,s to buy as well, not just a part that Youngstedt's was making expensive for me. I wish I had done my research on this part before having it installed, but instead, I trusted Youngstedt's to be fair. That was my mistake. Interestingly, the Youngstedt's in Maple Grove just quoted me the price of $78.95 for the exact same serpentine belt. I understand that Youngstedt's Minnetonka, and all auto repair shops have the right to charge whatever they want to charge for their parts, labor, and service, and that customers must make the choice to pay their prices, or go somewhere else for service. I will not be using Youngstedt's Minnetonka again for my car maintenance, nor will I recommend Youngstedt's Minnetonka to anyone I know. read more

The guys at the Minnetonka Youngstedts Goodyear, were awesome to work with. They got my 2007 Volvo in right away and did quality work at a fair price. There was no hesitation in troubleshooting and diagnosing the complex charging system in this Volvo, I know the repair was done right and with the right parts. My wife never felt intimidated or concerned while talking with the guys up front. They are professionals, and I will defiantly be bring my car back to this team next time. read more
