I was welcomed immediately upon arriving, and every representative I spoke with was friendly, informative, and professional. They were quick with the tire change and informed me of any defects with recommendations to correct them. The female manager did an excellent job making sure everyone was helped in a timely manner, which made the entire operation feel smooth, organized, and very welcoming. She even went above and beyond by removing one of my service fees after I had to wait a bit longer than usual. Something that was completely unexpected and very appreciated. Overall, it's a very nice shop with genuinely nice people. The only downside is that they get busy very quickly, so walk-ins can be tough at times. As a recent transplant from CA, I needed all season tires that could handle the snow. Several of my friends recommended Discount Tire when I told them I was looking for new tires. Though I didn't get the cheapest option they recommend, the tires I got were cheaper than one of their competitors (Firestone). The service advisor was friendly, knowledgeable, and answered all of my winter driving related questions. When I called ~2.5 hours after dropping the car off, they said it would be ready in an hour but they actually called me 10-15 mins after I got off the phone with them to let me know my car was ready. Updated review from the same week I received my new tires: I have since had to go back twice within that week for two separate leaks (one on the front driver side and one on the back driver side). First time I visited the Eden Prairie location and they found a kinked valve on the front driver side tire and the second time I visited the Shakopee location where they found the leak on the back driver side tire. I was thankful both locations were able to get me in and serviced right away when I called them. However, having to visit Discount Tire 3 separate times within a span of one week was NOT ideal. Especially when I had to take time out of my work day to fix issues they should have ensured weren't there in the first place. I am still a somewhat happy Discount Tire customer, just hoping my next in-store visit isn't for a while now! read more

I stopped in to have tire valve checked on tire purchased at discount tire. I was third in line. Only 2 people available to help those of us who actually CAME INTO THE STORE for service. One guy was helping a live person while the other....on the phone with customer who was NOT IN STORE for over 15 minutes (I asked 1st person in line how long so far). I turned and walked out, who knows how long this continued. I fail to understand how lazy people on the phone take priority over those actually standing RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE.... people who are actually there IN PERSON, for service should never, ever have to wait for those on phone to be assisted first. Awful, just awful customer service. read more

Recently had my car serviced here and after having come here a handful of times, I finally got the chance to write a review. Every time I come in, the employees have been very friendly and have greeted me instantly. I don't usually come in during rush hour - usually at 9 or 10am - and it has never been super busy during those times. Because of the pandemic, they offered to have me drive into the garage to decrease contact. They also had marks on the ground which indicated six feet distances. I loved it ! They were especially careful with handling my keys to return my winter wheels to put them in my car. Questionable business practice. I purchased a set of 4 tires from them in August 2019 with 85k warranty. About a year ago one of the tires got punctured by a nail so I took my van in for a patch. They did their job and sent me on my way, but I would have to bring the van back 3 more times for them to adequately fix the tire. And that's not the worst part. After 3.5 years and 40k miles, the tires are almost bald, so I went in to purchase a new set of tires, hoping they will be discounted as per the warranty. Nope, the store didn't honor the warranty, saying since the tires are bald I will have to purchase new tires at full price. The warranty means nothing to them. Unbelievable - I took my SUV to Discount Tire (Eden Prairie) to have my snow tires mounted (10/29/19). That same day the tire senor light came on, so I went back to Discount Tire to have them check the tires and maybe have the tire sensors reset. After waiting over an hour, the technician handed me a baggie containing four tire sensors (one was broken). He lead me to believe he had installed four new tire sensors because the ones he handed me were faulty. He also told me the last person that worked on my vehicle must have broken the one tire sensor. He told me the tire sensor light was still on but all I needed to do was drive around for awhile and it would go off. I didn't believe this one bit. I just returned from Rudy Luther Toyota. The technician there told me the tires on my SUV have NO TIRE SENSORS just stems. The Discount Tire technician is A BIG FAT LIAR. How he thought he could get by with this is beyond me. I am paying Rudy Luther Toyota to install tire sensors. I will no longer be purchasing or stepping foot in Discount Tire again and that goes for my three other vehicles as well. I should have learned my lesson on a previous visit when they broke off a wheel stud. I had to take my vehicle to CARspec to have a new lug nut and bolt attached. read more

I'm really impressed with the team at Discount Tire. In the past, I have mostly purchased tires through Costco. But going forward, I'll be a Discount Tire customer. Here's why: 1) When it comes to price, Discount Tire will match Costco's pricing (or any other company, for that matter). So on price, Discount Tire will not be beat. 2) Both Discount Tire and Costco charge an installation/disposal fee (Costco is currently $15 per tire; Discount Tire is $16 per tire). So, it's a wash on that score -- and both companies offer free lifetime rotating and balancing of your tires, included in that fee. 3) The biggest difference is customer service. When you call Discount Tire by phone, someone picks up the phone. Have you tried calling Costco's Tire Center? They literally just let the phone ring; you can never get a person to pick up. Furthermore, Discount Tire allows you to schedule appointments online. This is huge. 4) The Discount Tire website is vastly superior to Costco. You can read reviews and compare many different tire options. This is huge. In the past, I simply walk into Costco and take their recommendation for which tire to buy. Two years ago, I bought a supposedly high quality Bridgestone tire (Ecopia) from Costco. I'll be lucky if those tires make it to 30,000 miles. Not all tires are created equal, so it's worth doing some due diligence on the Discount Tire website (you can also cross-reference a website called Tire Rack for more reviews) before you make a selection. 5) Discount Tire has a much wider selection of tire brands from which to choose. I believe Costco is limited to Michelin, Bridgestone, and BFGoodrich, 6) Lastly, Discount Tire wants to win your business. They will tell you that, and they will treat you in accordance with that desire. At Costco, the technicians are mostly friendly, but they are always swamped with business -- so customer service is iffy at best. read more

This place is great! I would highly recommend them, and I rarely recommend auto places because I always seem to get taken advantage of (one look - they know I'm not good with cars). My tire blew on 394 at 6:45a today. Someone from MNDot was able to help me change my spare, and I immediately drove to Discount Tire, following my catering delivery in Minneapolis. They had me in and out in a half an hour, made recommendations that were helpful, and didn't try to pull a fast one on me. The prices are reasonable, too! I would definitely return. I just purchased 4 tires from DT. I had them mounted on my own wheels. I received really great service, Scott and Kevin are the employees I interacted with. I'd say it was just good "old-fashioned," service....polite, timely, friendly, sooo fast. I brought in two rims at a time and requested my old tires back, so not a typical arrangement, there were no hiccups. Their website is also good if you want really technical tire information. Finally, their Covid procedures were good, and actually quite convenient for someone not wanting to get out of the car with kids. Had car in for a tire rotation two weeks ago. Just checked and had incorrect inflation on front and back, even though the ticket states the inflation. Vehicle was an Outback so front/back are not supposed to be inflated the same but they were anyway, with front even a bit low. Additionally, all the valve stem caps were loose and one basically fell off in my hand when I went to remove it. Pretty pathetic for "tire professionals." Would have put this on their website but got tired of waiting for a password reset email (still hasn't arrived). Beware and check their work. read more

The representative explained the new tire options and said the one I want would be here in few hours. FYI so it has come to my attention, when tire stores measure your tread, they take off 2 (legal limit) before telling you the tread depth, ex. Mine were at a "4 and 1/2 tread depth" they recommended new tires, which really my tread left was at a 6 and 1/2, I could have made it through the summer and not buy 4new tires before my wedding this spring!!! We got a popped tire on the highway so headed over to Discount Tire about 5:00pm, knowing they close at 6pm. There was a line of people who also needed tires ASAP. The staff were calm, quick & SO helpful. The manager, Eric, acknowledged everyone in line and assured us we'd be helped soon. I made an appointment to bring my Mercedes in to have the tires rotated 15,000 miles after I purchased a brand-new set of tires from this place. After making an appointment and arrangements to be picked up, they refused to rotate the tires because they said they "measured them" and it wasn't time for a rotation yet. Since when does rotating tires depend on measurement of the tires and not the amount of miles that I put on the tires since they were purchased? Nonetheless I wanted them rotated before the snow hit this season! Don't fall for the 'free tire rotation bit' when you purchase your brand-new tires there because they don't stand behind it. I had an old tire that went flat and only had $40 to my name. I called a few places and the person on the phone said they'd patch it for free if I could bring my tire there. When I got there, they looked at my tire and told me it was in pretty bad shape but they would take a look. After about 20 minutes, they called me up with a replacement tire. It was used, but better than my old one. They installed it for me and put my spare tire in my trunk. When I asked how much it would cost, they told me that it was free. The place LOVES you when you're purchasing new tires, but its manager, Eric-The-Snob, really sucks when it comes to those seasons where they are REALLY busy. His inability to smile and his self-importance overwhelm and undermine his capacity for customer-friendly interaction. I know because I've used the place for years, but won't ever come back after a nearly 4 1/2 hour wait for a season changeover! I'd shared my need to get my kid and be out ASAP and I'd been told to expect 3 hours without an appointment. I was cool with that & I'd brought books that were necessary for work. I asked if it would be ok to go 3 minutes down the street for a sandwich at RedStone and Eric told me "if that's your attitude, I'd rather you come back another day; we prefer the vehicles to stay on the property"! I walked down for lunch & read some clinical psychology & returned to an untouched car. Then I got my promised 3 hours!! I watched others without appointments get served for tire rotations & I refused to believe that I wasn't next. At the 4-hour mark, I went to inquire and was, indeed, "next up". I'd have blasted Eric-the-Jerk, but I was late for picking up my daughter at school in Bloomington--at full rush hour traffic!!! The fellas who work the garage are nice and professional. Even the other counter staff are courteous and respectful. I LOVED the former manager, who knew what an apology was and wielded it on those warranted occasions. Eric seems too busy smelling himself to be concerned with either his own promises or the ways in which his "expertise" blinds him to the expressed needs of his customers. And don't dare come in there with a luxury vehicle; it seems to pull Eric-the-Ever-Important's status chain and he, himself, becomes the JERK. read more
