We had our first appointment four weeks ago when my dog needed her boosters. Roland, who's surgery it is, had booked extra time for our appointment so he could get to know Ponyo and me, which I thought was a fabulous idea. It made me feel very welcomed. We went through all the options regarding Ponyo's booster shots, what's was available and necessary. The surgery itself is a very clean, well designed space, with a few retail bits such as beds and crates and food. There's a separate waiting area for dogs and cats as well. Overall very happy that I chose this vet. Now let's hope I only need to come here once a year for routine check ups!!

I booked an appointment and was then charged the full consultation fee of £42 along with the other charges. The male receptionist was very patronising and told me no one would have told me this as there is no such thing. Received a call from Roland the following day who also stated that there must have been a misunderstanding as he would not say that and did not remember speaking to me over the phone. He did offer me the £42 off on my cats vaccinations bill next time i come in as a good gesture will which was not good enough for me as i didn't appreciate the way the receptionist spoke to me or the fact that Roland had said when people hear the word free they tend to concentrate on that and not hear anything else that comes after that! When i said i'd rather have the money refunded to me i was told this was not something he could do. Which i find very strange considering he's the owner of the practice. I guess it's a way of conning people into booking an appointment. Very disappointed

I've come here with my cat a couple of times, when I've come I was seen 10-15 minutes later than my…read morescheduled time. This is not the reason for my poor review. If anything I like the veterinarians taking their time to look at each animal ensuring they haven't missed anything. This time I was late by 5 minutes to my scheduled appointment. They refused to see my cat, and told me they are rescheduling me on Monday (today is Thursday). I am appalled that they have rejected to see my cat, I am worried for him and it is their job to see if anything is wrong. I would understand if I was late by 20 minutes plus. This just shows me, this place is a business and the veterinarians don't really care for animals but actually care about income. I'm not sure whether my cat will be ok or not but if he does get better it's no help from them. Would leave 0 starts if possible

As an animal lover and a cat owner, of course I want the best for my pet…read more When I decided to neuter my cat I started looking for vet clinics in W10. Some were super expensive and didn't provide after care and other clinics were just too far. Finally I found St Helens. I phoned them up and they were super polite, helpful and answered all my questions. The night before her operation they called me to see how the cat was and to remind me not to feed her that night . The price of the operation was around £200 but the service was incredible. I dropped off the cat at 9 am, she had her jabs done, deworming, her operation and they kept her there until she was fully awake and they were absolutely sure that there is no problem to send her home. They gave me special food -like special post operation food- pain killers, meds, protection collar, next day free check-up and another free checkup after 2 weeks. The place is very welcoming and big, big windows- loads of natural light, there is a small waiting area, a little shop area as well and just incredible people working there. Very professional.

Goddard Veterinary Group had over £10,000 from me for mammary cancer surgery for my baby girl Lola,…read morean intelligent and strong bully girl who fought hard to stay with me, and I her. I was rejected from my insurance, and Goddard refused to help in any way, so I had to use my savings, and put about £6,000 on my credit cards, in trying to save her. A few weeks later, their tactless and callously abusive vet who in the same sentence as was telling me my girl wouldn't make it from a uterine infection that had occurred due to her low immune system recovering from surgery, also stated it was, and I quote, "my fault she was dead, for not getting her fixed;" they're a disgustingly cold and money hungry practise, and they all should be deeply ashamed to work for such a company. They have spent countless hours and resources squeezing me for the debt over the last few years, never once offering any help with the situation. They have now sent me to collections on the final few hundred, after I asked them to clarify my remaining amounts. I advise everyone I know and meet with pets not to use their services unless absolutely necessary, as they are only concerned about the money, and i feel treatment is often substandard (see other reviews online to corroborate these observations). There are many other veterinary practices and emergency vet hospitals out there who will actually value you and your beloved friends, you have been warned..

Old fashioned? Maybe but who cares, best vets to care for your pets for miles around!…read more Colin Poole is an excellent vet... He loves animals and it shows - what most vets need countless x-rays and probes for he can diagnose with his eyes and fingers.... During my 30 years living near Colin's practice I had probably more than my fair share of pets.. I'm not a dog or cat person, I need both... My pets were in excellent hands with Colin and he helped to give most of them long and healthy lives and for those involved in accidents you knew when it was right to stop trying because with Colin its not how much money can I get out of these people its can this pet have a quality life? He didn't tell us one of our cats had cancer, until the treatment stopped working... That meant she had all her quality life without us having to fret. One of the few regrets I have about moving away from Harrow is that I doubt I will ever find a Vet as conscientious and caring... If you live near enough I cannot recommend strongly enough this practice for you and your pets - they may not be open 24/7 but they recommend you an alternative for emergencies when they aren't around (and if they are around and your pet is screaming with pain they'll magically create more appointment times!!) My dogs; Tiffany, Leo and Lucy and cats: Mitzi, Max (x2 - don't ask they were rescue!), Koko, Charlie and Candy are all on the other side of the rainbow bridge now but they all hold Colin and Diane Poole and their crazy surgery Parrot in very high esteem. Thank you Northwick Veterinary for being you. God bless x

150% Markup! I have no problems with how I or my pet were…read moretreated, however charging literally charing more than 100% markup on anything prescribed is a straight robbery! I understand we all have to make money. and that you're a business, however a markup of more than 100% is taking the p!$$! Let me paint an exact picture, total bill £89, of that 89, 45 of that is the vet consultation, which leaves us with £44 on 2 items. The 2 items in question are Loxicom which retails for £7.99 for 32ml (which i what I was prescribed) and the Hibiscrub retails for £8.41, so the total would be just £16.40. I get that you may charge extra for the convenience of getting it there and then, but £27.60 extra!! how can you justify that? even if they were both charged at double the retail price, that would still just be £32! that's still £14 cheaper than what I was charged for both items, bear in mind only one of them needs a prescription, the wash can be bought on amazon (next day delivery £8.41) That's near enough 150% markup per item! you cant tell me that is priced fairly? In the end, i ask to be refunded before leaving the vets as Im not a mug who is gna pay more then double per item again (yes the first time I did and didnt realise untill later on) So, now I ask to get a priscription, only to be told they cant right now because they were busy seeing other patients, which is fair enough, but then to be told it takes 48 hours to write one up at a cost of £15! LOL really? I'm aware that The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons says vets may 'make a reasonable charge for prescriptions', but does not define 'reasonable' however that doesn't mean let's charge as much as we can per prescribed item. I just want to know how can these prices be justified as "Fair" *********************UPDATE28/03/2021********************* So 9 days later, still no refund! what a joke! I was specifically told it would take 2-3 days, it's been 5 working days later, no refund and no follow-up call to at least advise on the refund being late! This is terrible customer service especially after knowing why I asked for the refund in the first place (150% markup on items prescribed), unacceptable, I will obviously have to spend time chasing this up now! I will update this once I have chased up about my refund) *********************UPDATE31/03/2021********************* Still no refund, still going around in circles! Was given Jamies number from head office as he deals with refunds left voice messages no callback, Called the vets to see what's going on and they chased up Jamie from head office and he hasn't returned their phone call either!!! So much for customer service, they cant even be bothered to reply to their own staff let alone me! so & working days later no refund and no one contacting me unless I call! not that I should have to speak to anyone in order for them to do their job and just process the refund! Anyway as of today they again I was told they would try and bypass Jamie seeing as he is ghosting everyone and see if someone else higher up would process this according to the Vet's receptionist, will update again

Following recommendation from a few neighbours we've been taking our pedigree chum to this place…read moresince we first got her as a tiny pup six years ago. A few years later we took on a rescue dog with lots of skin problems and other issues so we took her to CJ Hall were thanks to regular visits and lots of care and attention she has changed both physically and mentally...in fact when she knows it's time to visit Dave Hodgskin (or Dr Dave as we call him in our house!) she does get into a frenzy of excitement, I can only assume she equates the place with getting better! (the pedigree chum doesn't get excited but more accepts her fate!). The practice is small and friendly and yet still has good facilities to perform surgery onsite. I would never take my dogs anywhere else!

We came upon this independantly owned vet surgery after having bad experiences with 2 other vets,…read moreand I'm so glad we did. We bought our first ever pet, a german shepherd puppy, and were panicked when we noticed a cyst between 2 of his fingers. We took him to a local vet and they spent 2 minutes looking at his paw and without even explaining or asking us, booked him for surgery the next day and injected him with painkillers and anti-biotics. Having felt that we were being taken for a ride we made an appointment with the pets practice for a second opinion. The nurses were helpful and polite, and a convenient appointment time was very easy to arrange as they open later than most vets. Our vet, Kylie, was really wonderful about everything. We told her our concerns, and she examined him, and told us professionally, but also kindly, what we did and didn't need to worry about. We also got to discuss some of our other concerns as first time pet owners, and she was very helpful. For example, she in the course of the appointment had noticed he had dry skin and that he was a slightly under weight and we may want to consider a different diet. We didn't feel pressured or guilted into doing anything, and she didn't just add things to the bill like the other vet, but I was happy that she took the initiative to notice and let us know. I think what annoyed me about the others is that they didn't respect their ethical and professional boundaries, and it was so in tune with the stories you hear about vet's being scam artists (there was an episode of panorama about it). At the end of everything she decided to prescribe a course of antibiotics, which seemed more sensible than cutting into him at the first oppurtunity like the other vet. Her manner with us and our puppy inspired our confidence in her. We did change the diet which not only adressed the skin and weight issue, but his distaste towards his food which we had noticed. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's convenient as it opens late, has parking, and is easy to get to. It's always clean and a nice environment. We decided to our dog to the puppy class was good, and it was nice to hear about advice and training directly from a vet, and it turns out that this is the only place with a vet-led training class in this area. Since then our poor puppy has a few medical issues, in each case the advice was always good, and we felt safe trusting them as we felt that they really did have our pet's best interest at heart.
