I read a review on google for this place. The review stated that she was ignored when asking to order something from the menu rather than opting for the buffet. After all, the menu does say "(Dine-in, Buffet & Take Out). I figured I would give it a go and see if I could get further than she. I too, was not wanting to eat from the buffet. Being by myself might have helped as when asked for a beverage, they were trapped so I could place a special order. I ordered Almond Chicken. What came out was not what i know to be almond chicken. Instead it is what you see in the picture. I couldn't eat it. After a few minutes I asked for the bill. They noticed that I hadn't touched the dish or the rice and were very nice about asking me about it. The lady running the register, told me that she couldn't let me go without something. So I said I'll take a look at the buffet. For which I did, so she ended up just charging me for the buffet. I thought that that was really decent of her. I told her what almond chicken was to me for which she told me that what I know as almond chicken is actually Springfield country chicken (deep fried chicken breast, gravy with almonds shavings on top). So, if you come in and want what my version of almond chicken is... Make sure you ask for Springfield Country Chicken. I'm glad they set me straight. From the buffet I grabbed honey chicken, general tsao and fried rice. The buffet was actually very good. I will go back next time I'm in town. read more

Young Dragon Chinese Restaurant - the menu - Chinese Near Me - Atchison, Kansas

See all

We went here when we were in the area for Thanksgiving. The service is always friendly and fast. The buffet has something for everyone. I wish we had something similar in our area! read more

Food taste great! I go here alot for dine-in or to get food to go. Plenty of tasty options to choose from.

Amazing and a great price for the amount of good you get! ATCHISON is lucky to have this restaurant!

We always get take out. For a small town it's not bad! Will return again! The food was good and service is always great!

Doesn't look like much from the outside and the buffet is sorta small compared to other places but everything we had was delicious and service was great, stop in and enjoy the food and try something different. read more

I know when I go what to expect, but I hoped the phone order would be would be hot. It seemed the chix order was taken from the buffet due to coldness and lack of crisp from deep fry. I like we have this option in town, but will wait a few months, again, before going back. I have lived in many cities/towns and like American Chinese for what it is, but has to to be hot. read more

All you can eat buffet with desert and soup s. Probably $12. Regular buffet we'll maintained. Water glass never was empty! Yes I would go again read more

This place is the epitome of American-style Chinese buffet food. It has its place, when you want something quick, cheap, and to ruin your diet. And sometimes I do! Just don't have expectations of a romantic date night or a relaxing family dinner here. read more

I enjoyed eating here with my family the food was delicious with tons of options from sweet and sour chicken to crab Rangoon. Normally this would be a five star review however there was a few things that bothered me. the service was great but the lady who served us seemed overworked she was doing a lot compared to the other employees she was very sweet though. In edition the ambiance and colors were very warm whether that be the color scheme or the temperature in the restaurant. It was very hot inside the actual restaurant however the ice cream bar kept me cool. In conclusion I would recommend this place for anyone craving Chinese food who doesn't mind a little heat. Overall 4 stars. read more

One of my favorite place to eat the people are friendly the food was freash and hot and the place is good for handicap people

Have raised their prices and now will only provide a foam bowl (for carryout) if used for soup. Put rice or rice and General Tao in it and they will inspect at time you pay and add 3-4 dollars. Only chinese buffet I have ever been to with such a silly policy. They seem to forget that I pay about same for carryout or setdown but I get no personal service, no drinks, and no wet dessert. I guess these owners have gotten greedy like the oil companies but i do have other choices in St. Joe and Leavenworth. read more

Wonderful wonderful wonderful. I will travel the 2 hour round trip for this Chinese restaurant ANYTIME. Great food! Chinese dumplings are best I've ever had since my Chinese friends home made dumplings every year on my birthday.. very nice staff! read more

I think that they are best at making green beans and chicken sticks. The workers are very kind there. I think they are pretty cheap and they have great ice cream there. They have a bar with goodies like brownies. There food is great but they are not good in making the food fast and putting it out. It takes at least 20 minutes to get a batch of green beans done. read more

There's a saying in this old river community: "There's good and then there's Atchison good." Young Dragon is better than Atchison good, but it's not 5-star Chinese by any means. A friend of mine put it this way: "It's not bad if you go in with no expectations." Look, let's be honest with one another: you shouldn't have high expectations for a typical Chinese buffet in the Midwest. Young Dragon has steam pans chock full of sauce-laden chicken, pork, and beef. They have the green beans bathed in soy sauce. They have the fried potatoes with some b.s. name to make them seem oriental. They have the weird desserts that look and taste like plastic. They even have the soft serve machine. What's not to love? read more

Saw this place driving through Atchison, glad we stopped. Pretty good Chinese buffet with all the dishes you would expect. Not a huge selection but everything was hot and tasty. read more

Best Chinese food EVER! No other place compares. Chinese dinners in KC and St. Joe seem to be fake compared to this one in Atchison. I'd eat there every day if I could :) read more

Stopped by here for the first time while in the area. Restaurant is clean and service was fast and friendly. Lunch buffet was well stocked and alot of variety. We were shocked at how inexpensive it was. Our total with tax was less than $24! Awesome deal. read more

Friendly staff. Always there for refills or to see if I needed something else. Good buffet. Only issue is it's the same stuff on there every time I go, but that's not entirely a bad thing. read more

So when I was told this was a good Chinese place for Atchison I wasn't expecting much. But the food was actually pretty good and very reasonable if you are ordering off the takeout menu. I can't speak to the buffet but judging by the fact that the place was packed I would have to assume it is pretty good as well. I was a little annoyed by the fact that I had to wait ten minutes past their quoted time but they were pretty busy. I ordered a couple different items just to get an idea of what it was like. The dumplings were actually really good and I would get them again. The fried rice was different what the friend rice that I am used to but it was still pretty tasty. The chicken wings were on the tiny side and they were of the battered variety which I don't really care for, but they weren't bad. I guess my only complaint would be the quality of the ingredients in the the curry chicken. The flavors were pretty good and if they increased the quality of the ingredients I would even say it could be great. With the limited options in Atchison this would be a good place to go to grab a meal. read more

Friendly workers. Lots of so so food. Not sure how fresh it was. Pretty wide selection for a Chinese buffet in the middle of nowhere. Every single time I've come here I left with the stink in my clothes and a gross feeling in my belly read more

Plenty of choices of food. Food is hot and tastey. Don't look for alcohol. Quiet establishment. I was lucky to get a parking spot. Good crowd. read more

Good Chinese take-out. Good buffet. Food has slipped in the last couple of months from very good. Don't know if cook or supplier changed but quality has dropped from where it was. read more

It's a nice place to eat but I wouldn't eat there everyday I would prefer going to a more professional place like with higher class sushi I like sushi and the sushi there is horrible not to be harsh but everything else is fine read more

It's tasty! Quality was a little hit or miss for a while, but it seems to have improved and it's a great value.

Sushi and desert bar could be improved. Plenty of entree options - would recommend doing carry out. You can pack quite a bit in those containers! read more

We go to Young Dragon everytime we go to Atchison and we enjoy it everytime. It is by far the best all you can eat buffet for the price. They have amazing honey chicken and the crab rangoons are always fresh. I do think that dinner time is the better time to go since the food will be exchanged more frequently. The service is really great! read more

My family has eaten here since before the remodel, we're not big into the buffet because we have a sensitivity to MSG so we tend to order take-out. It is usually really good, sometimes our food has been a little dry (beef and broccoli) or too soft, but a majority of the time it has been on point! The fried donuts are really good, they have some of the best crab ragoons I've tasted, and the egg drop soup is always hot and delicious. My family normally orders General Tso's Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, and some sort of dish with shrimp in it. For the price it is definitely worth the money, I have very little complaints if any at all. Ordering sometimes is difficult because I can't always hear them, but they have always been very polite. The Lunch Specials are a good value, I only wish it would say online what time it starts and ends, otherwise you might miss the cut off. read more
