I know when I go what to expect, but I hoped the phone order would be would be hot. It seemed the chix order was taken from the buffet due to coldness and lack of crisp from deep fry. I read a review on google for this place. The review stated that she was ignored when asking to order something from the menu rather than opting for the buffet. After all, the menu does say "(Dine-in, Buffet & Take Out). I figured I would give it a go and see if I could get further than she. I too, was not wanting to eat from the buffet. Being by myself might have helped as when asked for a beverage, they were trapped so I could place a special order. I ordered Almond Chicken. What came out was not what i know to be almond chicken. Instead it is what you see in the picture. I couldn't eat it. After a few minutes I asked for the bill. They noticed that I hadn't touched the dish or the rice and were very nice about asking me about it. The lady running the register, told me that she couldn't let me go without something. So I said I'll take a look at the buffet. For which I did, so she ended up just charging me for the buffet. I thought that that was really decent of her. I told her what almond chicken was to me for which she told me that what I know as almond chicken is actually Springfield country chicken (deep fried chicken breast, gravy with almonds shavings on top). So, if you come in and want what my version of almond chicken is... Make sure you ask for Springfield Country Chicken. I'm glad they set me straight. From the buffet I grabbed honey chicken, general tsao and fried rice. The buffet was actually very good. I will go back next time I'm in town. read more

I enjoyed eating here with my family the food was delicious with tons of options from sweet and sour chicken to crab Rangoon. Normally this would be a five star review however there was a few things that bothered me. the service was great but the lady who served us seemed overworked she was doing a lot compared to the other employees she was very sweet though. In edition the ambiance and colors were very warm whether that be the color scheme or the temperature in the restaurant. It was very hot inside the actual restaurant however the ice cream bar kept me cool. In conclusion I would recommend this place for anyone craving Chinese food who doesn't mind a little heat. Have raised their prices and now will only provide a foam bowl (for carryout) if used for soup. Put rice or rice and General Tao in it and they will inspect at time you pay and add 3-4 dollars. Only chinese buffet I have ever been to with such a silly policy. They seem to forget that I pay about same for carryout or setdown but I get no personal service, no drinks, and no wet dessert. I guess these owners have gotten greedy like the oil companies but i do have other choices in St. Joe and Leavenworth. read more

I think that they are best at making green beans and chicken sticks. The workers are very kind there. I think they are pretty cheap and they have great ice cream there. They have a bar with goodies like brownies. There food is great but they are not good in making the food fast and putting it out. It takes at least 20 minutes to get a batch of green beans done. read more

There's a saying in this old river community: "There's good and then there's Atchison good." Young Dragon is better than Atchison good, but it's not 5-star Chinese by any means. A friend of mine put it this way: "It's not bad if you go in with no expectations." Look, let's be honest with one another: you shouldn't have high expectations for a typical Chinese buffet in the Midwest. Young Dragon has steam pans chock full of sauce-laden chicken, pork, and beef. They have the green beans bathed in soy sauce. They have the fried potatoes with some b.s. name to make them seem oriental. They have the weird desserts that look and taste like plastic. They even have the soft serve machine. Stopped by here for the first time while in the area. Restaurant is clean and service was fast and friendly. Lunch buffet was well stocked and alot of variety. We were shocked at how inexpensive it was. Our total with tax was less than $24! Awesome deal. read more

So when I was told this was a good Chinese place for Atchison I wasn't expecting much. But the food was actually pretty good and very reasonable if you are ordering off the takeout menu. I can't speak to the buffet but judging by the fact that the place was packed I would have to assume it is pretty good as well. I was a little annoyed by the fact that I had to wait ten minutes past their quoted time but they were pretty busy. I ordered a couple different items just to get an idea of what it was like. The dumplings were actually really good and I would get them again. The fried rice was different what the friend rice that I am used to but it was still pretty tasty. The chicken wings were on the tiny side and they were of the battered variety which I don't really care for, but they weren't bad. I guess my only complaint would be the quality of the ingredients in the the curry chicken. The flavors were pretty good and if they increased the quality of the ingredients I would even say it could be great. With the limited options in Atchison this would be a good place to go to grab a meal. read more

We go to Young Dragon everytime we go to Atchison and we enjoy it everytime. It is by far the best all you can eat buffet for the price. They have amazing honey chicken and the crab rangoons are always fresh. I do think that dinner time is the better time to go since the food will be exchanged more frequently. My family has eaten here since before the remodel, we're not big into the buffet because we have a sensitivity to MSG so we tend to order take-out. It is usually really good, sometimes our food has been a little dry (beef and broccoli) or too soft, but a majority of the time it has been on point! The fried donuts are really good, they have some of the best crab ragoons I've tasted, and the egg drop soup is always hot and delicious. My family normally orders General Tso's Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, and some sort of dish with shrimp in it. For the price it is definitely worth the money, I have very little complaints if any at all. Ordering sometimes is difficult because I can't always hear them, but they have always been very polite. The Lunch Specials are a good value, I only wish it would say online what time it starts and ends, otherwise you might miss the cut off. read more
