This is, without a doubt, the most appalling service I have ever encountered. I canceled my appointment well over 24 hours in advance and rescheduled for a different time. But due to the front desk's glaring incompetence, they still expected me at the original time. Despite their blatant mistake, I apologized and was even willing to pay, yet they had the audacity to refuse any future appointments. Their treatment of customers is absolutely disgraceful--they weren't just rude; they actually hung up on me. To make matters worse, they completely ruined my plans. I'll begin from start to finish... From my phone call to my check out, everything went very smoothly, like a well oiled machine. The women who answer the phone are pleasant and courteous. This is very hard to find. I was able to schedule with ease. Parking was easy and the salon is beautiful. It exudes a welcoming, modern, clean, and bright elegance. They have plenty of drinks and snacks to keep you busy while color processes. I am very impressed with the business model of this establishment. They do not up charge you for everything little thing. Instead, they take care of you start to finish, unpressured, ensuring excellence. Quality over quantity is evident. ... Toner, glaze/gloss , and shampoo and conditioner . Scalp massage is absolutely divine and clients can prop their feet up and enjoy. The warm neck towel is a fabulous and well appreciated touch!! Very pleased. Rebekah took care of me. She is down to earth and beautiful inside and out. She knows what boundaries to push and when to stop in order to ensure healthy, resilient hair. My consultation was not rushed and she understood the desired look i wanted to achieve. I stressed, natural, healthy and vibrant and boy did she deliver. She is calm, cool, and collected and gives clients reasonable expectations. She told me that my hair may not go as bright as desired without compromising the integrity of the hair. I understand that and respect her professional experience. She is someone you can trust to deliver while still protecting your hair. I respect this. I also asked for no visible lines of demarcation of color and non colored hair and asked her to respect the diversity of color in my preexisting look. She is the first person to not dye my ends over and over again. This damages the hair and results in an all over blonde look. I did not want this. I am pleasantly surprised with my experience. I recommend Jillian if you want someone who is amazing with color and pays attention to detail. She is kind hearted and a great listener! I am letting my natural color grow out and she offers the best advice. I love that they offer a warm towel under your neck and to put your feet up during your shampoo, as I suffer from soreness after having my neck in uncomfortable shampoo bowls. "Unless you're a stuck up snob. And a entitled millennial who makes everything complicated and uncomfortable ... do yourself a favor and don't go to this salon. I never leave reviews, but when I experience young snobs who talk to me like I am stupid, I have to write a review. Also, if they don't agree with you, after taking 30 minutes to explain a complex procedure of a color correction and a simple haircut - expect them all to stare at you as you walk out of the door, rolling their entitled eyes, and talking about you (a person who they know nothing about). But please stay calm, just leave, and find a better salon. I realize that things don't always go as planned and people have bad days... but making a customer who was willing to pay $480 (outrageous) feel as though they are a complete idiot (over hair) is unacceptable. It may have just been the stylist that spoke to me, but I will be posting photos of them standing there as I walked out. What a horrendous experience. One of the worst ever! Just had my hair done elsewhere, which took about two hours... a huge difference compared to the 10 hour several day process that this salon told me was necessary! Love my new hair style, color, and new stylists. Get your manners together yousalon and don't accuse a potential client of lying either. I previously wrote an excellent review for You Salon because I believe in helping the people who help you. Unfortunately, some parties at the salon don't share my philosophy. After being a loyal customer of Christa's for approximately two years, during which time, I referred several people to her, wrote positive reviews and showed the utmost respect to anyone who helped me in the salon, I recently was treated very poorly when I asked a question about my highlights. Because I had shown Christa multiple pictures of the blonde highlights I wanted and specifically rejected the ombre look, I was puzzled when my husband pointed out that I still had several brown patches the underlayers of my hair. I called Christa to let her know, as I thought it might be a mistake. I was not rude or angry and made a point of letting her know that the rest of my hair looked beautiful, but simply wanted to find out what happened, because it wasn't what I expected. When I came in, I got an angry speech from Christa about how she would need to "break up" with me, because "every time" she did my color, there were communication problems. (I had color a total of 2 times out of 2 years of hair services and although I needed adjustment last time, I was still very complimentary at the end.) Then, both Robin and Christa very publicly and loudly intimated that my husband should have come in, because clearly the issue was his and not mine - very insulting to my integrity, that my request for foils closer to the scalp and throughout the hair was outdated and that my husband's hairdressing skills (he stopped 6 years ago) might be outdated. Then, after showing me to the door, Christa turned her back on me as I wished her a good day. Wow - unnecessary. We could have found a resolution without the threatening to dump me as a client and insulting me because I dared to question work. I was so upset that it has taken me two weeks to write this review. When you pay $250 - or anything - for a service, you have a right to respectfully ask questions or raise concerns without being publicly insulted and humiliated. Addressing client concerns, as long as they are posed kindly and respectfully, is just part of any service job. As a longtime customer, I felt that my business was not at all valued and, quite frankly, as if my respectful manner was being taken advantage of and I was being bullied into closing my mouth. Although I prefer to write good reviews (and have good experiences) I cannot recommend anyone to a place where longtime customers are summarily disposed of and treated without dignity if they have a concern. read more

They have you fill a form out all about your hair and do an interview with you while going over the form. I got a free protein treatment on my hair. When I moved to Baltimore, I immediately wanted to just off about 10 inches of hair and create a whole new style, all at a new salon with a new stylist (poor planning, I know). Kristyn is a lifesaver, taking extra time to understand my hair, what I wanted, even putting up with my poor excuse for art when I sketched out what I was thinking. She really wanted to make sure I had what I wanted. She'd even stop here and there and ask, "More like this...or like this?" It may sound ridiculous, but we sculpted my perfect cut together. And I couldn't be happier. And even though I've only been going there a few months, I feel comfortable chatting with her as she cuts (that usually takes longer for me--I have a bit of a shy streak). I came in for a new look and Christa k was nice enough to help. My hair was brown and I asked for a honey red look. As my hair was getting done there was a lot of chatter going on with the intern and the hairstylist in the back where they were getting the hair dye, I paid no mind as I thought they were was just teaching and learning taking place. After my hair was finished getting dyed it was the opposite of what i wanted. My hair was BLACK! I did not even get an apology. Came here to get my hair done. I'm just sitting there waiting for service when I overhear a conversation. I see a woman waiting for service, all prepped up and she's explaining how she wants her hair colored. The stylists, instead of listening begins to argue with her, the woman is a lot more patient then I would have been and continues to plead her case. Another stylist is called over and the arguing continues. I have never seen anything like this. Who argues with their clients. It ends with the poor woman storming out. It did not bode well for me. I should have walked out at that point but decided to see this through. What a mistake. These people do not listen and as I feared my hair looks nothing like I wanted it. Too short, uneven. I should have realized when I saw the bad customer service that it probably was not a place for me. I will never come back here and I recommend people avoid this place. read more

Came in with pics of highlights I wanted. I explained what I wanted, and somehow through their upselling technique suckered me into something entirely different. Originally a brunette, and only wanted a few face framing highlights, somehow turned into a full head of very blonde all over highlights. Also, I have very fine hair and the bleach has totally fried my hair. I've had highlights before and other salons were extremely cautious of my fine hair and checked it frequently when they applied bleach. This was not the case here. They let me sit over 40 minutes without checking it once. I was blonde beyond belief and fried hair! I left a very unhappy customer. I decided to call them the next day and let them know how unhappy I was with the color. I asked if I could come back so they can fix it. I got a lot of grief from the stylist who applied the color saying that is what I asked for. Hell no... that was not what I asked for. That is what "YOU" decided would be best and it was not my best. After long minutes of frustrating conversations they finally listened and brought some of my brunette color back in. I was no longer an all over blonde. The color is much better now but I will never go back to this salon again. read more

You Salon is always professional and friendly; their facilities seem very clean and their staff very knowledgable. I have been coming to you salon for a few years now and really enjoy it! It's a bit pricey but comparable to similar salons in the area. I normally go to Ashley and she is wonderful but I've gone to other people sometimes and never had a bad experience. I've gotten my hair cut pretty short and have grown it out... Bangs or no bangs ... You get the picture! Either way my hair looks and feels good! I really liked that at your first appointment then take the time to get to know you and your lifestyle. For example, as a student she knew I wouldn't have a ton of time to style my hair and made sure to cut my hair in a way that would be low maintenance. The place is very clean and modern and they have snacks and coffee. I don't color my hair (yet!) so I can't comment on that. They have a nice and generous referral system as well. I had a wonderful experience at You Salon. This was my first time at the salon and I was made to feel right at home. There is definitely a bit of a spa element here with their coffee/hot chocolate/soda/snack area. While I was pouring a glass of yummy strawberry/cucumber water, Megan jumped to help me make a delicious mochaccino (in addition to assisting me with completing first time paperwork). My hairstylist's name was Alyssa and she was fabulous; very accessible, down to earth, and accommodating. I felt as though Alyssa listened to what I was sharing about my hair and gave her feedback as well (along with a few hair tips). The scalp massage during the shampoo/conditioning process was super relaxing. While I did not have any "major" hair work done (simply a wash, blow dry, and style), I do feel comfortable coming back for another more invasive hair treatment and would certainly recommend You Salon to a friend. read more

I have been a customer of YOU Salon for over 8 years. Started with Jason and moved to Christa only because Jason was so busy. Christa did my wedding hair and make-up and has become one of my best friends as well as a favorite stylist. I have been bouncing back and forth between Christa and Aubrey since Christa's schedule didn't always work for me after she had her baby, but Aubrey is also a great stylist and I have never felt unappreciated or unhappy. I have always felt that any of the stylists that work there would be capable of taking care of my hair at any given time. This is an extremely professional salon. These people work as a team. Whomever I am with, Christa or Aubrey, they always talk to each other in my presence to make sure we are all on the same page with what I want. Until I started with YOU Salon, I hardly ever got my hair cut simply because I was never satisfied no matter where I went. They changed that for me and I am more than willing to pay the price because I am ALWAYS satisfied by their service. I also used to have my nails done there by Rachel and I am sad that she no longer works there and they don't have anyone to do nails. I will book my appointments a year out, but if I needed something in between all I have to do is call and they will fit me in. When I arrive, they almost immediately take me back to get started and are always concerned about my needs while I am there. They are always training and keeping up with the industry. They stand behind the products they sell, mostly Redken and Pureology. I could let them shampoo my air all day it feels so good! They were extremely accommodating when I came in with a broken foot in a cast not once, but twice :) I can't conceive of going anywhere else and if I ever had to move away, I might just kidnap one of them to go with me! read more

I was very surprised to read a negative review of You Salon. I have been a customer since the salon opened, and believe it is the best salon in Howard County! The service there is exemplary. Their primary focus is on making sure their customers are happy and satisfied with their service. I have had my hair colored and cut by both Robin and Christa, and have only positive things to say about both of them. I have been pleased and impressed with their work. Both are friendly, professional, and talented, and I have never had a bad experience with them. In fact the entire staff at You Salon reflect Robin's dedication to customer service. I went to YOU in order to fix my hair that another salon had butchered. Everyone was extremely nice and professional. Aubrey, my stylist, listened to my concerns and was able to change my chunky layers into a softer, blended look. This was my first time here and I was very impressed. Aubrey knew what worked well with my hair and what didn't (i have very straight, thick hair). I had my first appointment at You Salon at the end of January. I was looking for a new salon because I've been trying to dye my hair red for about 2 years and have never really gotten what i wanted. Every time i tried I ended up with a red brown, or something that just wasn't as vibrant as what i was looking for. I just walked in one day to see if there was anyone to talk to there and they recommended I come in for a consult with someone. I had always thought a consult was a pretty ridiculous idea, but when i came in I had a consult with Christa and we talked about a lot of things concerning my hair color, style, and maintenance. We looked at pictures, even talked about dying my eye brows which i had been DYING for someone to talk to me about. Long story short (maybe too late), I made my appointment, had a wonderfully relaxing time, and walked out with beautiful red hair. I waited to write my review to see how the color faded (as red does very quickly). It lasted longer than other dye jobs and faded into a very workable color. Though I'm about to go back to get the red again since Im a little obsessed. Overall, great experience, Christa was absolutely charming to work with. She clearly listened to what i wanted and made it happen. And the girl that did my shampoo was hilarious. Highly recommended if you've been let down before by stylists who either don't listen to what you want or just don't know how to do it. These people seem to be capable of A LOT!
