After having a surprising amount of trouble booking an appointment with an optometrist that a) was…read moreavailable sooner two weeks, and b) didn't charge extra because I wear contacts, I managed to book a next-day appointment for a complete eye exam (glaucoma test, drops for dilation, and the standard prescription tests) with Dr. Moeini. I appreciated that he didn't rush me through the "better or worse" test as optometrists sometimes do, and he even went the extra step of setting up a referral for me to see a specialist in Mississauga to monitor my thin retinas. Professional, helpful, and affordable - $65 total. I then went to the actual Hakim counter to order new contact lenses. The woman who served me was friendly and gave me a student discount without me having to ask for one (although she did "correct" herself and reduce the discount by 5% - still, I saved almost $100). Because of my awful astigmatism they have to be custom ordered and are manufactured in the States but they came in within two weeks, which is significantly quicker than my experience at another Hakim location. Even though Hakim isn't in my insurance network, I'll probably come back again. 3.5.

Ended up getting my eyeglasses for more than two weeks and you need to call them yourself. Yes they're cheap and affordable but the basic frames are on the thinner side. If you're not careful enough, these frames are easier to break. Service is so so - the older guy (Owner) is welcoming and friendly but the rest of the staff have standoffish attitude and doesn't care except to make some sales. Probably won't be coming back here and will find another optical shop when I need another pair of eyeglass.

I also liked that they offered direct insurance billing, which was perfect. I saw Dr. Moiseiykina (or Dr. 'M' as she said I could call her), and she was wonderful! Since it had been a few years since I had a proper eye exam and contact lenses check, she listened carefully to all my concerns and responded accordingly to my needs. She even offered to refer me to a retinal specialist without me having to ask, which I greatly appreciated. As a new patient, she made me feel very comfortable and I would highly recommend her to my friends and family. Once I obtained my updated prescription, the store staff were also super helpful in narrowing down and selecting the most suitable glasses for my face shape, and not making me feel pressured to buy the most expensive pair of frames or lenses. They were thorough in fitting the frames to my face and measuring everything. Everyone there is fantastic and they have earned a loyal customer with me! I hope this location can continue to maintain their current level of service.

But besides that, I've been here every time, and I've always had a great experience. The store changed owners in the past couple years, but the new owner is just as nice as the old ones were, and she can make anyone feel comfortable. It doesn't matter if it's your first pair of glasses or your 20th (I think I'm on at least my 10th pair...), you should be able to find a hot pair of frames from here to make yourself look less nerdy and more "intelligent". Ahh. And if contacts are more your thing, they'll offer you all sorts of sample pairs to make sure you get the perfect fit for your eyes, and they'll special order almost anything you desire. Which beats Hakim Optical any day. They've also got an optometrist on site, Dr. Price, and he's a no-nonsense kind of doctor who gets the job done nice and painlessly. Which is all you want from your doctor sometimes, so it's great.

Having been resided in East York for 57 years before it was amalgamated into new City of Toronto in…read more1998, my wife and I have used several Optical Stores, staying with a store that provides us not only reliable lens and frames but also good service. The last optical store we used was in Scarborough Town Centre, quite far from our place. When our family optician moved out of Toronto, my family eye doctor (Ophthalmologist) recommended Scarborough Scarboro Optical Ltd. in late 2019. From that time on, we've been extremely satisfied with its products and services, preferring not to use Costco's optical store, despite the latter is even much closer to our place and accessible by public transit. Why? For two major reasons. In the past, we had our eyes examined by an optometrist before taking the prescription to our optical store for new glasses. Scarboro Optical has its own optometrist located onsite (by appointment). And Dr. Bejan is not an ordinary optometrist. He's also a highly qualified eye doctor. In essence, I've been receiving regular monitoring of my eye health from two eye doctors. In the past, I'd been paying the cost of Digital Retinal Imaging Tests from my optometrist to assess the inside health of my eyes not covered by OHIP. Dr. Bejan performs similar test to detect presence of glaucoma, cataract and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) for free! We've been receiving excellent optician services even from its owner Joanna when she was still working as a senior optician. From the start, we're extremely satisfied with Atosa's services. Not only Atosa is a very knowledgeable optician, but we receive from her the following services more than what we expected: * Very friendly, warm and courteous yet has proven to do everything within her power to make us happy. * She would recommend lenses features beyond prescribed by their optometrist, to be comfortable using new glasses. * While I've got good vision insurance coverage from my previous employer, she never pressures us to buy expensive frames. Their prices are already competitive and always receives special discounts but still would tell us we don't need some features for our multiple prescribed glasses needed (bifocals, computer/reading and sunglasses). * She would tell us which of our old frames could be reused to save on costs. * She would submit our vision claims online to my insurance carrier, thereby receiving my refunds before we pay Scarboro Optical when we pick up our new glasses. * She would efficiently test, adjust and clean our glasses any time we drop by the store with a smile. It's for these reasons why we highly recommend Scarboro Optical products and services.

Store has an optometrist and a good selection. Great team with amazing customer service. I repeatedly offered to pay for the adjustment since my glasses were not from their store, and all they asked was that I consider them when I'm in the market for some new frames or lenses. I will absolutely be giving them my business.
