These guys are awesome. I found them online. i was looking for a place to get lenses put in a frame the same day. It only took 45 minutes. Since then I have been back 4 times and my experiences has been amazing every time. If you have a frame and just need lenses, call ahead of time to make sure they have them in stock. If they don't, they will order them for you and call you when they arrive. All you have to do is go there one time and your glasses will be ready in an hour. I just got my second pair of glasses from Mega Save and it was another pleasant experience. They have an excellent selection of frames, without being overwhelming. They also have very reasonable prices on designer frames and a really handy section with budget frames (I think it's about $45 for the lens and frame combo from that section). Anyhow - i found a pair of glasses I love, he made them for me in half an hour and made sure they fit well. I'm not sure what else I could possibly need from a glasses store! read more

The prices are very reasonable. Honest place. But not accurate with reordering. When i try to reorder disposable daily lenses, Instead of astigmatism one they give me regular one, i was ready to swallow this, but than later found the right eye was not even my prescription. Be careful to check it on the spot, and also make sure you have enough lenses prior to order - you may have to wait longer than you expect before you will receive new one. read more

On two occasions I have had eye surgery and needed lenses to camouflage for important meetings. Generally speaking, the eyeglasses industry produces one one of the most overpriced items sold on the retail market, mainly because the majority of eyeglasses are sourced from a single producer, Italy's Luxottica (there are lots of articles about Luxottica online if you want to look into them). MegaSave Optical is the only optician's store I've found in Toronto that routinely offers a truly deep discount on eyewear, especially if you choose one of their non-branded frames. I found MegaSave through Yelp and Google reviews while looking for affordable eyewear online, when I unexpectedly lost my glasses on Monday (yup, it sucked!). I hadn't been planning on repurchasing a pair for at least another year as I had only had my current pair for a year. As I made phone calls, emailing my prescription to a few other optical businesses and inquiring about rates and lenses I felt the process was overwhelming and the price seemed to keep creeping up. I truthfully felt a bit like I was potentially being taken because of how expensive some lens options were on top of, on top of, etc.. With the lenses I required for my work (need them to be completely anti-reflective), the cost was around $250-425 from various businesses and owners offering me various "discounts". When I walked into Megasave, nothing extra was offered. Just incredibly fair and low prices across the board. I saw that their Raybans and Burberry glasses were $75-200 cheaper from other stores pricing. I would have even trusted them to order me name brand glasses without marking up the price by 100% or even 50%. I am honestly not sure why these people are so incredibly generous and fair in this market that seems to be saturated with just the opposite? I emailed back and forth with the young woman Atusa, as I had requested a style I liked in a different colour. I also inquired in depth into the lenses trying to ensure I was clear that they needed to be completely anti-reflective. Atusa was gentle and patient, which worked very well with my feelings of stress around ensuring I got the "right" pair. Long story long: I found the perfect pair yesterday. When Atusa was gong through pricing with me, she let me know she had ordered me top quality Essilor lenses, which I had only paid 80 or 85 dollars for. I was quite blown away and tremendously grateful. I even told my mom about this lovely small mom n' pop shoppe that made my day. I was surprised to hear myself saying "I never thought I'd be glad I lost my glasses" as I walked out the door yesterday. I am not a review person, almost never write them, but felt I must say something due to this uniquely amazing experience I felt so lucky to have. I will return here as long as I am living in Toronto. This optician is just a hole in the wall, and they have a rather limited selection of frames, but the price and the service are the best! I am on my 2nd pair of glasses in 3 years and both pairs fit well and look good. I use progressive (no-line) bifocals and the quality is top notch - no distortion - and I see clearly. What more could I ask for? And at 1/3 the price of the "Luxottica" opticians (which include almost everybody else). It's also half a block away from Jane subway station. Convenient if you use transit. I reduced my rating to 2 stars, strictly because of the lower prices. He was a bit rude to my wife after her cheap frames broke. Not only that, when she got the glasses back the lenses were scratched (they were OK before) and he charged her for new lenses. I doubt if we will go back. read more

I have gotten 5 pairs of glasses from this guy. He is super cheap and simply offers the same high quality lenses that everyone else has for like...$45. I asked him his w he does it so cheap and he said, "Eye glasses are one of the most marked up products. I have just don't mark them up as high." I got a pair of bendy wire frames with transition lenses, anti glare coating and protective coating for $125. They looked great and lasted 3 years till I lost them. The people I refer thank me up and down but sadly most just don't believe me. read more

I read about this place online before going, and I was hoping to find cheap frames. There are definitely cheap frames and very good deals, I got a frame for just 30 bucks and even some of the designer stuff was around 100-150 (just the frames). The guy was flexible and could adjust prices. I read in another review that the people are very friendly and nice, and unfortunately I did not have the same experience. I was walking around for 5-10 minutes looking at frames and there were 2 employees in the store (not doing anything) and I was the only customer and I was not helped... About 10 mins later one of the employees actually helped me. And I agree with one of the other comments that the selection of frames is quite limited. Overall it was very average, but the cheap prices bump the ratings of this place. read more

I have had several good experiences with this proprietor. My first two pair of glasses were inexpensive and I appreciated that as I am on a tight budget. They lasted over seven years and whenever I had a problem that needed fixing I brought them in and this gentleman fixed them and would not take any payment for the repairs. Now I am about to purchase a new pair, this time of progressive lenses of moderate strength and instead of having to fork out over $400 Mega Save quoted me a price of $120 lenses and frames (discount frames as I use my specs for reading and work only) That is GREAT VALUE. read more

I needed to get my lenses changed because my prescription had changed. When I went in, the staff were friendly, and the service was speedy. I was in and out within about a half hour. What really makes this place awesome is the fact that when I first gave them my prescription, I accidentally gave them the wrong one! I called them the next day and they told me to come in so they can fix it. They fixed it and didn't charge me for the second time. These guys were a life saver and the price was economical. :) Would recommend this place to anyone! read more

Great find! I've never had better service anywhere. I shopped at other places in the village and there is no need to buy 2 or 3 pairs to get a decent price and to keep the franchise yacht fueled up. They may not have as big of a selection as the bigger stores, but I was happy with the selection available. The prices are a fraction of the cost of what my eye doctor wanted to charge me for the lenses alone. They helped my wife and I find the frames that we liked and they asked a lot of questions about how I would be using my reading glasses. They took the extra time to ensure my prescription would match my distance to my computer screen at work and offered to adjust accordingly. I was able to get new glasses by the next day since the work is done in house. I've bought glasses from 2 other local businesses in the past 4 years and they each took about a week to get the glasses back to me and cost twice as much. You can tell they take great pride in what they do and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. read more
