Yosemite Bowl is hands down my favorite place to bowl in Modesto! The service is always great, and the staff is awesome -- especially Jessica, who is incredibly kind, welcoming, and makes everyone feel right at home from the moment you walk in. I've been coming to Yosemite Bowl since I was a kid, and now I get to continue that tradition with my own family. It's one of those places where real memories are made, whether it's casual family nights, celebrations, or just stopping by for some fun. Because of the atmosphere, the amazing staff, and the great experiences we've had over the years, I will always choose Yosemite Bowl over McHenry Bowl. It truly feels like a second home. As a family (w/teenage & college kids) we decided to check it out. Each lane allows for 6, we were a family of 5. We went on a Sunday afternoon. Noticed some teams playing in the first third or half. We arrived about 1pm. Wasn't too busy at that time, started to fill up. We decided to pay for 2 games vs by the hour. With the 5 of us, we were done in about 2 hours. I would say if you have a party or 2-3, you can get in 3 games in 2 hours. We felt it was clean and new enough (scoreboard). Had a small snack area, bar & grill and a small arcade. Those around us were considerate and family friendly. We were considering going to Manteca, but it would have cost almost twice as much. Would consider going back. read more

This place used to be great, but now it's a rip off! My little one wanted to go try bowling one night and had to wait til the league cleared out (thankfully, and they do not care about language- def not family friendly tone) then charge a ridiculous amount per game plus shoes. To save a few bucks we would have had to to wait til 9pm, and that's not acceptable with a child. There were no child prices either to help offset some of the costs. It would be nice if they considered the kids at the very least. Walking away and telling my child that we can't do this tonight is never easy. read more

The SO and I have been making bowling at Yosemite Lanes our weekly Saturday morning ritual, and it has been so much fun! Located off of Yosemite, right across the street from Huckleberry's, Yosemite Lanes is classic bowling alley vibes - with over 30 lanes, an arcade room, AND bar and grill! We typically come at opening on Saturdays and it is so calm. Foot traffic starts to pick up around 10am when the league bowlers and families begin their day. Every patron that we've bowled next to have been super friendly as well. Staff is also really nice and they helped when one of our personal balls got stuck in the ball return. Lanes are also oiled up around morning time, but not sure if they re-oil in the evenings. I definitely want to try their food and drink next time. PS. Paid for lanes by the house and our lane broke down at least 4 times in 2 hours and the guy at front desk named Jose didn't want to let us finish our game with 4 frames left. It's not our fault the lane was messing up so it should have been credited so we could finish our 3rd game. My advice is don't pay by the hour pay by the game or go elsewhere read more

Tori, Wayne and Alex are wonderful folks and I always enjoy talking with them. Alex runs the Pro Shop and he knows what he's doing. He takes his time helping you and his prices are reasonable. Me and my family always come here for a good time. It's always been an okay time. The drinks we order always cost different they charge us different amounts for the same drinks which has been brought up to them multiple times. Also they have told us it's okey to order food to the location after their food closed but when we did they stated we couldn't. They told us it was a misunderstanding and we were forced to take it out. They didn't offer us any resolution. read more

I will not be returning to Yosemite Lanes. Came here today with my family to celebrate my child's 7th birthday party and brought a small cake with us (didn't think anything of it because we've done the same at Mchenry Bowl) and when they saw the cake one of the employees approached me and told me we couldn't have the cake in the building. I was annoyed but ended up telling her we would take it to our car. I was buying pitchers of drinks and we were getting shoes on, and the cake was still on the table... the security guard decided to stand behind us and stare at us.... When I came back with drinks I took the cake out and bam the security guard walked away. Spent over $100 here today and y'all are gonna have a security guard watch us because of a small cake?! This review is specifically for the kids party end of the bowling alley not the actual bowling alley itself. I had my sons birthday there last year and it was complicated to say they least. At first we were assigned Shawna as our party planner in the beginning of our reservation. It was extremely hard to get a hold of Shawna and work with her. On the sole base of her being unable to communicate in a timely manner. She is sweet, accommodating, but just can't communicate timely. To me timely manner is 2-3 business days when we are actively planning a party ( and a deposit has been made). When I finally was able to reach her her rebuttal was " sorry just had my own sons party here and was very busy with that". Eventually I had the unfortunate experience of being assigned to Cindy Bond ( restaurant manager) after that. Cindy was confrontational, annoyed, and short most of the time. You can definitely tell She doesn't enjoy this part of her job ( kids parties) And switching a party planner a week before my sons bday isn't my idea of handling a struggling situation in the best way. She made sure to tell me she wouldn't be there day of party and we were on our own, besides the party hostesses. And anything else should be reverted to the front desk. The party hostesses were great but not very proactive. When I did Delegate tasks to them they were willing and obliged. Also you should all know Yosemite lanes charges built in gratuity for the party hostesses and they kinda just stood around until I asked them to do things. At one point they handed me a piece of paper and asked me to get everyone's shoes sizes. And I asked them to go around and do that . If this had been mentioned when cranky Cindy and I were communicating all week I could have asked for everyone's shoe size on the invite OR prior to party . You get one hour in party room and it goes by fast. The party room is dated with Cords and wires hanging from all over the Place. My favorite part of the party is when Cindy magically appeared out of nowhere, didn't introduce herself and barked at me in the most condescending way that my party planners wouldn't be able to pass out name tags and wristbands that I brought from Home for the kiddies. She wisked back into the night never to be seen or heard from again after her barking. Overall Yosemite lanes has a good thing going on but can use some tweaking with the people that help you. Party hostesses could be more proactive. Shawna can communicate more timely and not prioritize her personal family parties before a paid one; Or she can say she won't be communicating for a long period of time. And Cindy just plain needs to retire or stay in the restaurant. She is tired. She is cranky. She is condescending and I have a feeling her staff thinks so too. When I mentioned something about Cindy not being approachable the front desk gave a giggle and said " ya that's Cindy" Wasn't a great experience. I hardly saw my son because I was delegating take to the party hostesses the whole time. but hey Cindy and Yosemite lanes got their 800$ for that 2 hour party. Cindy is married to the owner of the alley and I don't think she should have privilege to treat people like dog poo because of who her husband is. We came from the Bay Area because most of our family lives in Modesto and put a lot of work and money into making this happen. Cindy your attitude wasn't appreciated. Also if you are decorating; you have to pay additional money to break down your room, or start cleaning up in the time frame of your one hour party. You get a free half hour to set up but no free time to break it down ( which cuts into your bowling time) please make it make sense Cindy. Make that make sense and your attitude. read more

This place has the potential to be a real family fun center, but unfortunately present management seems to run it with low expectations. They have refurbished only certain sections while other areas look out-of-date, old and even grimy. Currently in 2010 they are promoting their new 24-hour schedule, but in fact that applies only to the bowling. The bar and restaurant seem to be open less than half the day. The prices at the "snack bar" rival those of movie theaters, and the old 1980's tavern area has the personality of a Motel 6 lobby. This place would fit in perfectly at a truck-stop in Oklahoma. read more

Your bartender lost his business and acts like the big kahoona treating people like poo, overlooking minorities and being class biased. Your bar is racist as heck and it reflects very much so on your entire staff. For the bar bouncer to tell me ( a Hispanic woman) that he "made the stamp as dark as it can be so oh well if it doesn't show up" and the bartender to help 2 people who cut in front of us at the bar... Don't have us confused for people to sit by and take that. We were on a timed bowl. Waited to be served. Got overlooked and still walked away despite the fact that we MIGHT have been served . We won't be returning and you can count on word being spread through central valley. You guys were great to travel to bc ur open late but this shit don't fly so bye. read more

Very unprofessional management and staff. A security guard, George, I believe his name was accused me of drinking alcohol (which I DID NOT do since I am underaged & also the designated driver). Not only did he harass me and have false accusations of me he says he clearly saw me with his own eyes that I had drank the alcohol but he also said the cameras had saw me as well. Alright cool, at this point Im pleased they said that because I have nothing to hide. I then proceed to talk to the manager of Yosemite Lanes to ask for a rollback of the camera footage and then comes George behind him attacking me while the manager didn't even care to stop him from harassing me in front of him and talking to me in a highly rude manner. All I asked was to prove myself of not drinking because I have absolutely nothing to hide. And then the security guard had told me I have no right to even see the camera recordings cause he knows he's wrong. Anyways the manager brings me inside the camera room and shows me an side angle of me with their shitty ass quality of cameras and showed me a scene where I was reaching for a "drink" when I was clearly touching my hair or scratching my hair. From the angle that the camera was taken they had accusations of me up the ass. If they showed me a CLOSER and different angle their asses would have been proved wrong. I wouldn't be fighting so hard and being defensive if I'm not trying to validate a point. The security guard then accuses my boyfriend of condoning me to drink when my boyfriend was in the bathroom the whole time everything was happening. Bottom line is, I did not appreciate being harassed and being accused when I did absolutely nothing wrong. This whole thing ruined my night and also the 8 other friends that were with me. We always bowl here and never had a problem bowling here up until now. Being a manager it's your job to make your customers not feel this way and not be attacked by the security guard you hired. read more

As the saying goes...Don't judge a book by its cover. Yes Yosemite Lanes is not in the best area, however everything they offer by far surpasses McHenry Bowl. Love their computer system, everything is at your fingertips to personalize your experience. The kids bowl free program is what brought us in and I am so grateful for places like this that give our kids the opportunity to get off the couch and away from the TV screen and video games all summer to go out and do something fun. At ...lets say ..the latter part of my life after 50 I never thought I would have taken up or started bowling let alone write about ...but it has been such a good experience not only therapeutically in the physical part but mentally also. And I owe a lot of this good experience in my bowling endeavor to the employees at Yosemite Lanes...in particular a guy named Cody. A mountain of a man in size and heart he is a credit and I would suspect a vital asset to the bowling alley. I started out going in myself and seeing what I could do with 2 shoulders that need replacing along with other limbs that dont quite move like they use to. Pitiful sums up my scores and first attempts bowling.It was painful to witness of which I assume Cody did from his spot manning the operations desk. Whether he decided I needed help out of the kindness of his heart or for the safety and well being of the innocents bowling in my general vicinity. Thats exactly what he did...without neglecting other customers or from what I could see keeping the machine running at Yosemite Lanes. This guy took moments of time to give me advice and tips as to how to (correctly ) hold the ball and roll it with finesse ..not muscle. I witnessed the finesse of this over 300 lb 6ft 4 plus fellow as he proceeded to mow down pins at will.. a modest demonstration of his skill and expertise. A memorable and valuable learning experience that motivated me to keep trying.. and also... return to Yosemite Lanes to continue my bowling. When you have people /employees who try to help make your experience better,or more rewarding at what ever level or age you are in a sporting activity ...well I think that's a real good thing...I mean think about it. in the past how many similar places have you been to and the person/persons behind the counter just took your money conducting themselves like they were practically counting the minutes before they were off work.These days there are far to many...but not so at Yosemite. Now I wont be joining the Professional Bowling Circuit any day soon ...or placing any Bowling trophies on the mantel at home. But thanks to employees like Cody ...Dave and company at Yosemite Lanes ..my game doesn't suck anymore... and the odds or chance that I could possibly kill or maim somebody ( with the ball?) has all but diminished...honest! read more

I haven't been bowling in over a year. In fact it's been so long, I cannot remember if I went to McHenry Bowl or Yosemite lanes last time. We paid $30.00 for one hour of bowling. When we rented shoes, they didn't bother asking for one of our own shoes as insurance. I guess they didn't want to hold on to my stinky sneakers. This is not a good place for someone who is ADD. There is a flat screen above each of the 32 lanes, and the image is constantly changing. If you want to appear on the screen, the podium will take your picture. Scoring is done by computer. I like how they show you where to throw the ball to convert your spare, but the diagram shows up so fast after your roll, you don't have enough time to see it. While the playing area looks remodeled and relatively new, the area behind it looks run down and in need of a makeover. The restrooms are down a hallway past the front desk. The sign stating that drug activity will not be tolerated did not make me feel safe, waiting there all by myself. We constantly had problems with the ball return. At first the ball would not make it into the return channel at the far end of the lane. Then the ball would roll back to us, but could not make it up the last foot of the ball return. No one wanted to reach in and risk a smashed finger to retrieve it. We hit the call button for help. They ignored us. It wasn't until one of us walked over that they did anything. They opened up the mechanism and sprayed something on it. That solution worked for about 5 minutes. Then the ball couldn't make it up the ball return again. So they moved us over to the next lane. At least they managed to move our scores over too, I was afraid we would have to re-enter all our rolls. We still had the same problems with the balls getting into the channel and back to the ball return on this lane. We were using all house balls except for one. About the only positive thing I have to say was I bowled a turkey in my first game. read more
