Baseball Field, Home Plate to Right Field
    Gregory S.

Summary, John Thurman Field is a good place to enjoy a Minor League Baseball game. Be aware that it can be uncomfortably hot for the first few innings of an evening game. There are plenty of near by, reasonably priced restaurants to get a good meal before the game. It has been nearly two years since we were last at John Thurman Field. This time we sat in seats high in Section 204 and low, at field level, in Section 107. High in Section 204 was excellent for a hot Sunday evening game because it was about the only place that had shade at 6 PM. Right Field Bleachers were the next to have shade. Being high gives you a good view of the entire field. You can also see just how close a 95mph inside fast ball gets to the batter and how little time a batter has to avoid it. Section 107 is behind the Visiting Team Dugout. It is almost like being on the field but protected by a net from line drive foul balls. There are a few negatives. Modesto can be hot during baseball season. The two games we attended the temperate at game time was over 90F. Concessions are ball park poor. Corn dogs were warm and far from crispy. I do not know what they do to the 7 UP but it did not taste like 7 UP. Cheeseburger Basket could be so much better. The cheeseburger was ok. The fries were barely warm and limp. The more they cooled off the less eatable they became. Popcorn was stale. As I noted in a review two years ago, the water fountains barely work. Do not let the negatives keep you from enjoying a Minor League Baseball game.

I love the Modesto nuts I know the stadium is old and it gets hot at the games but the food is good and the mascot are designed well and I love it.

An intimate setting for minor league baseball. Plenty of concessions featuring lobster roll sandwiches, BBQ ribs, mojitos and also your usual ballpark fare. Sit up close to the action for their most expensive ticket price, $10. Take the kids out and let them play on the playground in right field when they get antsy or test their arm with the speed pitch.John Thurman Field provides alot for everybody.

Recently attended the Journey Final Frontier Tour 2026 here on 04/21/2026. There are plenty of parking garages around the area and parked just across the street at the Old Macy's garage so it was a short walk. I was graced by May A's company and it was sooo cool to hangout with her! We had great seats at section 108, row G. Great sound at this spot! This is apparently Journey's farewell tour and Journey was awesome!! I've seen Journey once before years ago with lead singer Arnel Pineda and still a great singer. We had an amazing, fun time!! Thanks again May! Will definitely be back at Golden 1 Center for another concert. And maybe a Kings game haha

So even if you're sitting on the 2nd level, it's not that bad of a nosebleed. LOL I still don't like the fact that there aren't any cupholders up there. For that reason alone, I'll pay more to sit on the lower level! Pro tip: You can stand/or sit on a first come basis at either of the beer lounges, which is a nice option with a good view. The jumbotron is great. G1C really is one of the nicest arenas, so if you go early, it's a great idea to walk around both levels. There are a lot of local food/beverage options, aside from the regular concession stands (Do not get the nachos! The chips are terrible). Pro tip #2: Download the Kings ap and use it! Some of my favorite things to eat: Sushi ("Purple Reign" roll) (beverage stand Sec. 110) Chicken bowl (Star Ginger Sec 112) Chicken tenders (Sweet Bird Sec 219) Loaded Nachos (El Jefe Sec 212) Gyros & fries (Petra Greek Sec 211) Espresso drinks, ft. Lots of roaming security and cameras, so all good. Parking was $20. I booked through the Oldymeyer recreation program and got dropped off and picked up, by the recreation van. Thank you, Roman! We paid $20 for the adventure. I heard, there were end of season and other discounts, but all good here. Lots of young families and children, in attendance. Very cute to see the fans. Our second row, middle field seats, were perfect to watch the game. Food like loaded bake potatoes, bags of popcorn, and deep fried snacks were all available, at the many concession stands. Beer and beverages are available, too: but all items must be purchased on site. You are not allowed, to bring any such items in with you. Dress in layers, because the fog came in and was damp. The 2 hour game was fabulous, even though our team lost. The big screen monitor did replays, on goal shots and such. My first, but not last, visit here! Enjoy!

We welcome our visiting opponents with open arms and smiles. Super Fan is a staple of our club. Just look for his smiley face greeting all the passerby's. The chants are catchy and we are making more as we get situated. We welcome suggestions from all. The club owners Frank Yallop, Ray Beshoff and their leadership team has listened and addressed the concerns of the supports/fans and visitors. The upscale portapotties and live music are amazing. The stadium is open 2 hours before each game since tailgating is prohibited. If there is a band or live music it opens 3 hours before. Stadium food has stadium prices. Try the churros, nachos, potatoes and Tri tip sandwiches. Those are my favorites but all is good. The hot chocolate/coffee and tea stand outside is nice but a warning if you buy during half time go before the buzzer, I waited literally 30 minutes and missed most of the second half waiting in line and for my order. Alvarado brewery sells hot chit chocolate but not during that one game which I was sad. On a cold day.. a cold beer just does not cut it. Alvarado brewery has some good beer great selections try the mai tai if you like sours. To all that is visiting or just interested in soccer check out this stadium. You won't regret it!

My travel companions are national park people first but baseball aficionados second and they're on a quest to visit as many ballparks as possible. I happily tagged along for this Single-A game, and to my surprise, I absolutely loved it!!! This ballpark is tiny and cute with a cozy feel that makes you feel close to the action no matter where you sit. We even found free street parking just steps away which I would consider a small miracle compared to bigger stadiums. Since we arrived early, one of my friends and I ended up participating in not one but two of the in-between-innings promos and competitions. Did I want to be on the Jumbotron? Not exactly... but when in Stockton, right? I even won a trivia contest and walked away with an adorable little bear which I brought home to give to my friend's son. To top it off, one of my friends got me a baseball for my travel collection and he also gave me the t-shirt he got after winning a blackjack promo, beating the dealer. It was all so fun and silly in the best way. This is definitely a small-town baseball magic that made the whole experience memorable. I think the Ports ended up losing, but oh well! Between the friendly crowd, the quirky promos, and the charm of such a small, intimate ballpark, it was a delightful day. I'm genuinely glad I went and I'd happily come back for another game here!

From the outside, the place looks like a modern fortress built for football royalty steel, glass, banners snapping in the wind. It's part tailgate, part carnival, part time machine back to Montana, Rice, and the glory days history humming in every step, rhyme in every chime, red and gold bold. Step inside and BOOM the lights hit you like a halftime drumline to the chest. The field glows emerald bright while the stands explode in waves of red, the crowd roaring like a coastal storm. The sound system pounds, the Faithful get loud, and everywhere you turn there's something cooking: garlic fries sizzling, barbecue smoking, craft beer flowing like a victory parade. It's lights, bites, and fight-night vibes the kind of place where every cheer rhymes with "touchdown time," and every play makes the whole stadium shake like an earthquake highlight. This was my first time at Circus Vargas and I have to say I would definitely go again if I could! I was totally amazed at this performance! If you haven't been, you truly do not know what you are missing. Parking was free which was a great plus! I found tickets off Groupon and paid $16 for bleacher seating. It was $22 for arena seating but to be honest I was as close as I wanted to be. There were some incredible performances such as the motorcycle in cage, juggling and the acts like the illusions. The performance was totally age appropriate. I heard a family near me state that they thought there was going to be animals and I was surprised not to see any as well but the performance definitely made up for it. I could definitely tell that the performers and entertainers really worked their butts off to make this a great entertaining show. I didn't see any mistakes or mess ups. The entertainers are VERY talented and you can truly see that they love their job and take pride in their performances. FOOD: They do serve popcorn and cotton candy. The prices seemed a little steep for me but I expected that. Cotton Candy was $5 and the small popcorn is $6 and Hot Dogs for $6. They also have pictures that you can take with the performers which cost $15 and although this didn't seem like a big hit, I thought it was a great idea. The show started at 7:30PM and ended at 9PM with a 15 minute break at 8:20PM. I personally had a great time and would definitely do this again if I had the opportunity. I attended the Welcome to the West festival and this was the worst show I've ever seen there. Getting into the show was fine, the lines luckily were not long at all and security check was fine. You do not need a clear bag at this venue only size restrictions. Within the first five minutes we were notified the venue is now cashless which they didn't mention in the set up email so that was a bummer as I had brought cash. My friend ended up buying us each a drink and a shot each so four drinks total. He paid over $110 for four drinks. I expect prices to be high at concerts but charging the same price for a shot and a mixed drink is ridiculous. That ended up being the only alcohol we purchased the entire five hours we were there. Since the concert was so long we figured we would get a snack and some water. The concession stand worker decided to tell me AFTER i purchased two waters they have to remove the caps. I don't know when they started this, it makes it difficult and unsafe to leave uncapped unless you chug it all at once. I had them hold one for me behind the counter and when I came back for the second one it was given to me with the cap on. It's really frustrating spending money to see artist when you can't see due to lighting. Multiple artist were performing with either no stage lighting or purple dim lighting. They even put it on the screen you could visibly see them performing in the dark. The DJs were switched out frequently with many of them having sound difficulties and restarting the same song. During E-40 performance his mic as well B-legit were turned off and on. You could see the artist frustration with the DJs on stage. Getting to our seats wasn't an issue at first but after the second hour there it became a safety hazard as none of the staff cleared the walkways which resulted in mobs of people throughout the stairs and consistently stopped me to check my tickets but let four people in front of me without checking anything. My biggest disappointment is with the lack of organization of this show. I hope I am able to change my review later this year but also I hope I don't regret my other shows since I spent a lot of money for multiple shows here.
