High recommend The Modesto Children's Museum to anyone with kids. I first visited as a teacher with my PreK/TK aged students during a few yearly class field trips. The kids LOVED the climbing structure and big slide AND the water room. The museum also has a light room where children can manipulate magnatiles and create colorful light projections. There's a shopping/store area where children shop, play in the juice bar area, and ring up customers. The air flow area where children can use air to make beach balls float and color scarves shoot through vacuum tubes and fly. There are a couple areas that alternate themes and activities. There are family bathrooms. There's a low stimulation room if your child needs a sensory break. This room also doubles as a nursing room. Every single employee is incredibly kind and helpful. I loved MoChiMu so much that I got my 1 year old a membership for her first birthday so now are regular and attended our first story time at closing the other night. We mostly stay in the little rainbows area that is specifically for children 0-3. They can climb, play with light projector to make colorful projections on the wall, manipulate the giant colorful light bright wall, read books, or rock or bounce on the other movement toys. The museum is probably ideal for kids when they start crawling and seeking movement to maybe 7/8 depending on the child's interests and developmental age. My baby loved watching other children and listening them talk and play at around 6 months, and now she's climbing all over the little rainbows area and walking around to look at and explore the rest of the museum. Anywho, check it out when you can. Yearly membership's go on sale sometimes too so look out for that. You can also get 4 free tickets once a year if you have an adult library card through the discover and go page. read more

For a Saturday there wasn't too many kiddos so it was felt very spacious and not too cluttered with kids. For $30 for me and him, I'd say it was a great price. Lots of fun and if you need help holding something the front desk is generally happy to help. Please be kind to the staff as most are volunteers but I highly recommend checking it out at least once you can climb up a huge structure and slide to the bottom. It was a lot of fun for both kids and adults in my family. They are part of the museums for all program at $7 a person with an Ebt card. They are rather thematic and have different activities going on like the dinosaur fossil dig and building a foam dinosaur. There's other great activities that are constantly available like the water room, the room with magna tiles, the kitchen/grocery store and so much more including but not limited to a soft play area for the littles. I took my children here for a fun afternoon and it is a very cute place and kept the kids entertained for a while. When we arrived the street parking is sort of iffy, I believe they were doing construction but when we went inside the front desk was very welcoming and I just let my kids run around, there favorite part was the water room ( I am not sure the correct name for it ) but it was pretty cool. It's two levels so multiple things for them to do. It's is affordable and I plan to return and highly recommend if you have small kiddos read more

I think this place is an awesome addition to Modesto! wish it were there when my girls were little. however, I get to enjoy with my grand dude now. we went when it first opened and he loved it. very clean, lots to do and explore. however, now that he is going to be a whopping (lol) 6 years old in another 2 months... I felt like it probably won't be a place he's excited to go to again. he was able to whiz around and get through everything quite fast. But maybe it's because we have many of the things the museum offers at home? like the magnets. painting, crayons, target checkout center, groceries and kitchen...etc. OFC the slide was his favorite. and the stage. we stayed for the last 10 minutes of story time that was very well done by the gal that read the shape book. I would highly recommend this for anyone with kids 6 and under. I do need to add... the unfortunate news of the paint. I specifically asked if it was water based and washable. the girl said yes. I asked because I just put his new shorts on for first time. Well ofc he dropped blue paint on them and his sock. I asked if there was water and a towel so i could get most of it off before getting in car. Came home and immediately treated. Washed in cold water. Hung dry just in case. Still there! Then.. I soaked in oxi-clean overnite. Re washed. it did not come all the way out:( I called to let them know so it doesn't happen to anyone else. She apologized but really nothing more. I think this is a non profit... so, I just let it go. so, you've been enlightened to the possibility with the paint. Wear older clothes you don't care about! I will post pics. read more

What a wonderful place! Clean, thoughtful, welcoming, sensory. Little littles would love it here. I can only speak for under 7 yrs old. There is so much to learn, explore, discover. Tips: - park across the street. Easy paid parking and short walk for the family. - get there right at opening. It gets crowded on a Saturday. - tell the front desk if you're celebrating a birthday. My little got a birthday pin to wear. - let your littles explore! There's so much to see, look up and down and around. You're likely to see something new. - parents can do everything the kiddos do, including climbing up the tower to go down the giant slide. - be aware there are itty bitty littles who are still crawling or just barely walking so watch your step - create. My partner got discounted tickets through work. We came on a Saturday and it was a lovely time. Our little one loved playing grocery store shopper and cook on their second floor. She loved the area that had the air push the cloth through the tubes. She didn't enjoy the bottom floor with the water as much because the room echoed and the other kids were too loud. The space was enjoyable and all kids seemed to love it. Not sure if I would go often but would recommend for one time attendance or come every so often. read more

This was our first time here in this place and my son loved it. They have a regular door and a tiny door for your tiny one as you enter. They have 2 level of fun and activities that made my son busy and engaged. They also have an area for babies and toddlers that is corralled and separated from the big kids. The first level consists of the stage/costume play area, water activities, piano to play music with, wall of tinkering buttons and changing lights, maze, magnatiles/light lab. The second level consists of the baby/toddler play area, mini grocery (where they can pretend to shop or work), maker lab (it was closed when we went there due to heat wave advisory), and air lab. Situated in the middle of the room on both floors is the adventure climber in which children (and adults) can climb and go through mazes to reach both floors. It is enclosed in tightly woven ropes for both safety and fun. There is also a long slide that lets you slide from the top to the bottom. This place easily takes up hours to explore. My son and I spent 3+ hours here. I also like that if you come early when they just opened, the place aren't packed. The parking garage across from this building can also get packed and would be impossible to find a parking spot. Also, make sure to bring extra change of clothing if your kids love water as they can get soaking wet playing in the water lab. They do have waterproof aprons, but it really doesn't help much if they really love to splash around. The people who worked here were so friendly, and have loads of patience especially when dealing with kids (and their parents). It was a very clean, bright and well sanitized place. read more

We brought our two grandsons here today. They had a wonderful time, their staff is great! Very friendly, very clean place. It cost us $80 to get in for 5 of us. It felt a little on the pricier side but it is a really nice addition to Modesto. One thing I did not like is the area for kids 0-3 years old has no door, so kids can run or crawl out of there. We had to be standing there so our grandson wouldn't crawl out. We will definitely be back again! read more

We were visiting on a Monday and nearly had the place to ourselves! My daughters 2 and 4 had so much fun, though we didn't get to visit the water area or a few other sections we will be revisiting next time we are in town. There was plenty of sitting for parents and very spacious. All the children that day were polite and parents interacted with other parents (not on their phones!). I saw staff cleaning with eco friendly products and interacting with the children. It felt like the staff enjoyed being around children. I do wish they had a staff monitored stroller parking area where we could leave our stroller and know that no one will take and/or rummage through our things while we play. Also, maybe a small seating area out front for us to enjoy snack time would be great. Huge shout out to Holly who played with my two girls and helped me dress them in the costumes. Family member recommended this museum for the kids and it did not disappoint. It's not super huge yet it kept the kids entertained for hours! Reference we have three kiddos ages 13, 7 and 6 and even my 13 year old kept herself busy. It's unfair that they charge so little for low income families, but all other hard-working families have to pay $60 for a family of 4. Went there for the first time on Sunday. It was so fun! Its in Modesto's downtown area I guess, by Gallo Center. Parking building right across the street. Its a small place, but lots to do! Staff was plentiful, friendly, cleaning, & willing to play with kids, help parents, explain activities, etc. Ins and Outs are allowed with a stamp. I believe it was $45 for 2 adults and a one year old. They have a small gift shop when you come in. Also a cute small door for kids to open themselves for the entrances. Elevator is there & seemed handicap accessible to me. Plenty of activities for toddlers and kids. Everything is new. Plenty of seating for adults. The bathrooms were clean. Family restroom available. I will definitely go again. 1 small suggestion, for the toddler I took, they run right towards stairs so maybe a guardrail would be safer at the top & bottom of both staircases. read more

This place is truly wonderful, it really is. Multiple different areas for kiddos to play in different areas of their imagination. Staff was super friendly and accommodating (my son lost a shoe in the gymnasium that goes through both floors and staff member retrieved it) the only reason it's getting 4 stars is because A. I thought it was a lot bigger and b. My top concern is the fact that with how busy it can get, with the swarm of kids, some precautions around the stairs would be great. (Like a gate an adult can unlock but a child can't) because as a mom of multiple having one child upstairs and then discovering the other escaped to downstairs in all the mayhem makes me uneasy. Also that wonderful play gymnasium that goes through both floors, while amazing, stay aware that you could be upstairs and they can quickly end up downstairs through the slide (so if you have small ones) be prepared to run downstairs quickly. So besides running around frantically to keep track of 2 kids with 2 different interests at 2 different times and stairs easily accessible and an elevator button my 5 year old has mastered (panic) this place is wonderful. The museum is very cute, but I felt it was pricey for the amount of time we spent there. My grandaughter is only 2 years old so I realize she isn't going to get that much out of it but we paid the same price for her, her mom, and I which came to $45 and we only spent around 45 minutes there. She enjoyed the play grocery store and the air tubes were a hit! There were other families having a good time which I was happy to see. Many were low income and they get admission for $3. That's wonderful, but why not just make the museum more affordable for everyone? Many hardworking families could enjoy it, entertainment is a luxury these days. read more

It looks like a fun place from what you can see on the first floor. Most of the stuff is on the second floor. The elevator is broken and there's no other way to access it. They gave no estimation of when it might be fixed in the future. So I guess anyone with disabled children or disabled caregivers only get half the experience. read more

Fun,fun fun took my 2 kids 3&6 last week we are always searching for engaging summertime activities! Modesto Children's Museum did not disappoint! They are a bit pricey for families around Modesto however I read on their site they offer a discount to families that receive SNAP benefits. Two floors worth of activities we spent 3 hours and I left with to exhausted kids which made the rest of the day nice for mom lol. read more

Be careful of the giant slide, even with the recommended ages kids still fly off it. Cute place overall but definitely wouldn't recommend for children older than 9, I can't see them really being interested in this place as everything is geared more towards younger kids. Has potential. read more
