It's been years since I've visited Yong Shing's. I used to frequent here with friends regularly in the past when I was in my early 20s. I came here last night with my siblings and it was walk in/seat yourself. Many of the tables still had used plates on it and weren't wiped down. The side by the bar had more table options but several had reserved signs on it. For me, it's clear that it's under new management and things have fallen to the wayside. I will say that our server did his best handling the large groups that came in shortly after us. We ended up ordering pupu platter for 3, and shrimp fried rice. It was more than enough food for us to eat. Everything was pretty good. Nothing particularly stood out as great. I probably wouldn't come back here again. read more

Yong Shing is a small Chinese food joint in Auburn tucked away near the highway and the McDonald's. It's a decent place, but it's small if you're looking for a sit-down option. The hot and sour soup was good, and the appetizers were also done well. As Chinese in this part of Massachusetts goes, it's about average. Service was good. DO NOT EAT HERE! This food is horrible, all apps where dry and overcooked, the dishes were vomitous. I went here today and it had been a little over a year ago the food was good. Karaoke is really good when the DJs aren't singing every single song. but the chef here be slacking. I used to love the beef teriyaki here. Now it is too inconsistent . One minute its hot and delicious then the next its cold and taste like a weak attempt to reheat it then serving it to customers. I advise be cautious when ordering the beef teriyaki here. Back to the rollercoaster ride that is an inconsistent business ... I have had wonderful American-style Chinese food here the past two times I ate here, so I am (once again) updating my review. If the food was on par with the last two times, I'd rate 5 stars ... but you never know what you are going to get. Could they be using different distributors different weeks? The restaurant itself is kind of a late 90's/early 00's style vibe. Inside there is a small dining room and then a very large lobby and bar. The bar is where most people eat. They have bands and karaoke (which I contend is one of the worst inventions known to man) so it gets a little loud and rowdy in the bar. The clientele are pretty much the same type you'd expect if you had an issue with your plumbing ... the guy who would show up to fix it looks like the crew sitting at the entire 12 seats at the bar. While in the past, I have had dry and tasteless food, my last two visits have brought very plump and tasty chicken fingers, perfectly coated in rice flour. The beef teriyaki sticks were incredibly tasty and sort of crisp around the edges and moist inside. The eggrolls were flavourful and stuffed with mostly cabbage but had a little pork flavor inside. The boneless ribs were soaked with grease ... but once wiped off, they had a BBQ type of taste and sweet. Their hot mustard will singe your nose hairs ... which is great. It is super hot and perfect. The duck sauce isn't anything special but goes well with the food. Crab rangoon was cooked well, although maybe just a tad dry and bland ... I didn't get that sharp cream cheese taste. Their combination platters are very hearty and priced well. In this day and age, no prices seem to surprise me at restaurants. This is a genuinely filling meal for $16 or $17 ... if you told me 5 years ago that I'd be paying over $10 for a combo platter at a Chinese takeout place, I'd say you were crazy. Now $16 seems like a bargain, sadly. I am sure in no time, I will be updating my review with 2 or 3 stars ... but the last two times I went, I'd call this the best Chinese food I have tried in Central Massachusetts. read more

Sadly the restaurant has gone downhill with the new owners. the food isnt terrible it's simply not worth eating there. There are only 2 professional employees the bartender and a young Hispanic hostess. The food is bland, some of the sushi is improperly defrosted (doesn't mean it's unsafe) The hostess working the other night proved her past experience if any was a fast-food cashier or lottery ticket expert she didn't understand customer service. Went in on a Thursday night, was busier than I expected. Four of us. Food was ok. Was shocked to see they added 20% tax on the bill since we were a "large party". Then I saw they calculated the tip on the total including tax. Pretty sure this is against mass law. Never going back read more

The food was ok nothing special. Ordered a cup of egg drop soup and hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup was a little on the sour side so I added a little soy sauce and it tasted better. They tried to stick me with a mandatory 20 percent gratuity on my bill out of no where. When I complained about it they said it's company policy and there's nothing they could do. I called the police and when they arrived they took the mandatory tip off my bill .... Don't ever go to this place awful service and they try to scam you .... Food is excellent. Some of the best crab rangoons around. We ordered the Pu Pu platter for two and it could easily feed four people. Had to get some pork fried rice, which is always fresh and unlike many other establishments around. The orange chicken was the highlight of this meal, crunchy chicken drenched in the delicious "sauce". The best thing about eating in is they give you a squeeze bottle of duck sauce, no feeling bad asking for more bc it's more than enough right there at the table. read more

The place had problems a couple years ago with my allergies but I think they might have changed the staff because they were very good with my allergies the other day. my husband and I went here for my anniversary because we have heard good things about this restaurant. We were absolutely appalled by the service. Our food came cold and my husband's dish had hair in it. We spoke to a woman with brown/auburn colored hair who claimed she was the manager. She claimed that there was nothing she could do about the hair and his food. Then she told us we still had to pay full price. On top of that I went to the restroom and there were dead flies all in the corner of the bathroom. There was no toilet paper and the odor was awfully disgusting. Do not go here. read more

This is one place I always visit when I go "home". I heard they changed ownership recently though I'm not sure how true that is. Good news is that the food still rocks! The crab Rangoons are my FAVORITE! I will say that they have changed the shell since my last visit but the filling appears to be the same. I am from out of town and visited this place this evening. I was very disappointed. First, I had to search for the hostess, nowhere to be found. I found someone sitting behind a counter, then they got up, came around and asked me if I was going to the bar or the restaurant. I said I wanted to sit in the restaurant portion. Then someone took me without saying anything and I followed. The waitress? Non talkative, rude. Gave no helpful information. It's a shame that this lovely restaurant had no professionalism. The food here used to be wayyyy better. First I ordered the chicken wings (honey siracha flavored) and the Chicken Yu Hsiang which were both listed as spicy. The chicken wings weren't very spicy and the Chicken Yu Hsiang was not at all spicy. The Thai basil rice with chicken was not listed as spicy and it was very spicy. I actually loved the Thai basil rice with chicken. It was sooo good. I would definitely get that rather than the fried rice every time. The chicken wings were okay. The seasoning was a little much. And like I said I was expecting spicy and it was hardly spicy. The chicken yu Hsiang is not what I googled. Said it was supposed to be in a spicy garlic sauce. This looked nothing like what I looked up and there was zero spicy. I wonder if the cook knew what he was cooking? The karaoke there is good. The quality and clarity of the microphone is great. Havent been to yong shing in a few years, Just came home with some take out. Wed. 6-26 24. 3pm. At one time this was our favorite , i thought i would try them again, Its an odd time 3 pm. Not very busy at all. Only 4 other customers, 1st. An order of chicken wings , Should be simple, however these may have been cooked yesterday, ive never seen such a dried out wing. 5 wings cost 10.95. I threw them out, An order of special fried rice. All 4 items we ordered were horrible. One we even returned it was so bad! Beef and broccoli the beef was so thin and tough that's what we returned. The picture is the scallops. I am horrified at the quality of food. I've been going to Yong Shing since I was a child (I'm 37), and without fail every New Years Eve for the past 20 years I'd get takeout despite the crowd.... I will never go back after the food we got tonight. $60 for szechuan beef with vegetables, general gaus chicken, vegetable fried rice, chicken fingers, and flat noodle chips. The beef was fatty and tiny chunks(always makes me think I'm not eating beef....) and the "vegetables" consisted of onions and a few carrot shreds(bok choy, broccoli, water chestnuts, zucchini, baby corn?); the rice was burnt-looking and also lacked vegetables(and no fried egg!); The flat noodle chips clearly came out of a bag and were not made in house.... Even the duck sauce was bad! Come on! You paid over a million dollars for this place... you didn't get the recipes? Yikes. Even the fortune cookie had bad grammar. (I included that on the noodle chips. The "chips" used to be nearly twice the width of the fortune cookie paper...) I hate to complain so much, but it feels like it couldn't be any worse! We have followed this restaurant over several locations. Our experience was truly disappointing. Our waitress was poorly trained at listening and never added to our initial order of drinks and pork fried rice. We needed the manager to correct the order. The PFR had a distinctive scent and burnt hot oil smell and taste although the rice was cooked properly. We went back in March and the food was pretty good but my spareribs were cold, sent them back no big deal. We went last week for lunch and the dining room was closed so they told us we could sit in the bar area and we had our toddler with us. Dirty table everywhere only tables we could sit at were in a dark area no one offered to get us a high chair and dirty tables and trays full of dirty plates every where. We went back tonight 6/13 and the service was terrible but we were patient as the waitress was sweet and learning the new system both orders of rice were freezing cold, waitress never brought the rest of our food went to a different table when they place our plates of food on the table everything was freezing cold.
