Our association spent thousands on having tile installed. I realized that I needed some replacement tiles so I reached out. I got no help from Yonan! I finally found out that the tile that was quoted (which is the manufacturer's second most popular color) was not used. The one installed was actually discontinued at the time it was installed and not available. Sounds like a bait and switch to me. No wonder no one responds!!!! Avoid this shady company!!!! read more

had done business with them before in 2017 on all my oriental wool rugs however was disappointed on a rug they quotes would be this much just to find out it is more than what they quoted. they do a good job but wonder why they misquoted on cost. i told them the size already via by phone and quoted me unless they would have explained. will give them 3 stars for service since they are not that bad just they need to not take quotes over the phone then. salesperson jim hale was the one who quoted me when i got there but someone returns my call and quotes me $40 less since no one is available to answer my call. read more

I've bought from Yonan before, but really disappointed this time. I visited showroom and took samples home. Sales manager promised to call the next day to schedule measuring. He didn't call and I called him the next day. Scheduled measuring for 10 AM the following Tuesday. He didn't show and called to say he'd been very busy but could come later in the day. We agreed on 1 PM and he didn't show again. Taking my business elsewhere. They seem to be too busy or too disorganized for me. read more

I am highly disappointed with the carpet I purchased from Yonan Carpet One Oak Park location. Within a year of installation, the carpeting started buckling. There are lumps from the hallway to the master bedroom- see photo. I am a single person, so there is no heavy traffic, and this carpet should not have performed so poorly in the timeframe I have had it, which is less than two years. Last week, I learned that I must locate and pay someone to come in and move my furniture; then Yonan will stretch the carpet due to free time. The gentlemen that I spoke to said, why should he have to pay to move the furniture? That is my problem. Furthermore, he inferred that the carpeting problem is due to my fault, either improper cleaning by a cleaning service or abuse by me. I have not had any professional in my home to clean carpets or anything. This has been very upsetting and disappointing. I do not appreciate the accusations made or stating that what I am seeing does not exist. See the attached photo. I also feel the offer to stretch the carpet if I move my furniture is no offer, just a nice way of saying Yonan will not do anything. I terminated the call because he was rude, accusatory, and condescending. I expected better, and it is disappointing that I did not get it. We're going through a home improvement binge these days, and new carpeting is on the list of things our little Money Pit needs. So we went to Yonan Carpet One and sweet, patient Carmen helped us out. After much back-and-forthing, we narrowed it down to three choices, then we had to rush off to a dentist appointment. Some people have the vision to know exactly what will look good in their homes. I am not one of those people. So customer service counts for a lot. The only problem is that their carpet takes three weeks to deliver. I want instant gratification, dammit! read more

ONE) GIVING & receiving excellent customer service is quite important to me(.) 2) I'm a new home owner, seeking carpet (for 2 rooms - bedroom/closet) w/in a certain timeframe. 3) Yonan Carpet One (YCO) is only a few blocks from my house and the place has been situated on that corner for as long as I can merember. 3) I stopped in one evening after work, and explained to Laurie (Flooring Consultant) what I was seeking, my price range, etc. She was VERY helpful and showed me the choice of carpets I would more than likely chose from in my $ range, most important, TO ME. Well, she mosied on to say something to the 4) guy about my carpet seeking situation and for some reason, I got a -vibe when I saw him see me, HMPH. And, I'm going to leave it@that(.) 4) Fast forward a few weeks later, and what I thought to be a -vibe, didn't deter me from returning a few weeks later, w/a much needed swatch to match w/carpet in hand, I entered YCO and this is how it went: I didn't see Laurie so I proceeded to the rear of the store where the -vibe guy was (NOW w/the, I'm going to look you dead in your face and see you standing there and then quickly look away EYES). Wow, who would have thunk it, as there was a gazillion folk in the place.....NOT, only UNO, ME. My loud enough so he could hear my verbal reaction, "I guess I'm invisible." His verbal reaction after a few minutes, "May I help you?" I had walked to the front of the store.....browsing. Me, Cee - "Is the "very helpful" Laurie in?" He - "She's at lunch and will be back in..." Me - "I'll come back when she returns." I sat in my car for over 20 minutes debating w/self on what I should do. Bow down and order from YCO w/Laurie's help, minus the -vibe guy, or keep searchin'? I decided to keep searchin' and AM SO GLAD I DID! 5) Carpet burn me once, shame on you. Carpet burn me twice, NOT! We had a leaky refrigerator and needed part of our hardwood floor replaced and the remaining almost 1000 sq feet sanded and stained. The carpet downstairs also needed to be replaced. It was very stressful time (wife was 8 months pregnant at the time), but Dave really put us at ease. I can't say enough about his professionalism and knowledge. He organized the pack out, helped us pick a new carpet and answered all of our questions. The installers were awesome! Our hardwoods look beautiful, even better than before the fridge leak. I contracted with Yonan to install engineered wood floors in early June. It is now mid-November, and the floors have not been finished! I am extremely frustrated with Yonan's lack of responsiveness. Received great service and advice from Rich and his crew when I needed to replace old glue-down carpet from a flooded basement. Rich is clearly an expert for what's best in the Oak Park area, given the old houses, etc., and I was fine with paying slightly more for the local knowledge and service. (Home Depot quoted me about 10% less, but wouldn't lay vinyl planks in my basement unless I paid someone else to level the floor -- Rich's crew handled what was a minor issue as part of the fast job: a crew of three installed 500 sq feet in 1 day, and did a very good but not great job.) My wife and I received 3 bids on a carpet runner for our 130-yr-old house in Oak Park. We visited the Yonan store on North Ave. and were impressed by the many samples offered to us, unlike the other 2 companies. When Richard came out the following week to take measurements of our front stairway, he spent half an hour marking down each individual stair. The next day, he called to give us a similar estimate to the one that he stated in the store; in addition, he honored an online discount. He said that he'd send Ray, his stair guy, to do our difficult job. 2 weeks later, Ray spent 10 hours installing the runner: we were extremely impressed by his meticulous attention to detail, including curving the carpet to sync with our bannister as it wound around the stairs. No down time existed with Ray's work; instead, I got the feeling that he'd spend whatever time it meant into the night to finish the job: he left at 8:00 PM.... A reason exists why this company has lasted for 108 years. Yonan offers something that the big-box stores don't: quality. I've been working with a contractor the last year to rehab our old Victorian home. My guy told me that an impressive carpet runner offers a "wow" factor to people when they walk into a house. Yonan was the BEST! They were so helpful in helping me select a rug for our hallway, family room and stairs. We ordered carpeting and had them serge the edges and it came out beautiful! We had looked for an area rug forever and they were so expensive and this was so much less expensive because we needed a really large one! While initially the communication was poor (not getting a phone call back when we expected), their friendliness and the exceptional work done made up for that. We had water damage in our basement and the company that removed the carpet left a difficult cut. The work done by Yonan to repair and replace is practically seamless. read more

Let me begin by saying that the final installation of my flooring is SUPERB! The installers who did the work were wonderful. That's not the problem. The problem with Yonan is that the business is oddly managed and the customer and installation contractors bear the pain. My project began on April 4 and was finished June 12. During that time virtually everything went wrong -- recommended product did not work, many things were tried, my house looked like a war zone with ripped up flooring, and much more. But I could have forgotten and forgiven these problems if I had not just learned that the owner of this company is now refusing to pay the installers for the time they worked before the correct product was found and secured! I just don't want to spend my money with a company that operates as if we are living in the time of Charles Dickens! Shame on Yonan! read more

I had a very bad experience with Yonan several years ago. They didn't like that I went with another carpet installer. They called my carpet installer and impersonated my husband to get my carpet order. Then they colluded with the carpet manufacturer to deny the carpet order. I had to personally call the carpet manufacturer and asked them why they denied my order, telling them that Yonan illegally obtained this information my misrepresenting himself as my husband. How low can these people go to get business. Beware of their unethical business practices. read more

In a business category where there are more than a few sketchy characters, Yonan is a real diamond. Family run and Chicago based, Yonan is top-shelf. Nice showroom, no pressure, and a great selection of maufacturers and styles. The biggest selling point is that the people who works there are "lifers"...flooring is their chosen profession. They offer helpful advice. Price-wise, I felt I got a very good price for what I got. They were able to knock down some prices and upgraded padding. My family of five moved in to our new house in January. Exactly one week after the move my husband slipped down the wood stairs while holding our 9-month old daughter. Luckily, neither of them were seriously injured. After I collected myself, I set to work on finding a company to install a carpet runner as soon as possible. I researched carpet companies on Yelp and Angie's List and decided to make the trip out to Yonan Carpet One (I live in Edgewater) to see what types of carpet they carried and if they could install the type of runner I was interested in. When I walked into the store I was greeted by Rich and Laurie. I told them I was looking for something contemporary/modern, preferrably stripes. They dug through all of the samples with me to find five or six options that might work and with their help I settled on a plush, high-quality wool carpet--they sent samples of the three that I liked the most to my house so I could be sure after placing them on the stairs and that was very helpful. After I made my final decision, I called Rich and he came out to my house the next day to measure my stairs. He called me the following day with an estimate and to go over installation information. As a careful consumer, I called one of Yonan Carpet One's competitors for a quote on the same carpet installed as a runner. Their quote was slightly less expensive that Yonan Carpet One's quote, but something about the sales people and my conversations with them didn't sit right with me, in stark contrast to the feeling I had after speaking with Rich and Laurie at Yonan Carpet One. So I decided to pay a bit more and hire Yonan Carpet One. I'm so glad I did! My runner was installed in just over a week from the day I first visted the store and I love it.
