Not once has Dr. Nackley ever made me or my husband feel stupid for all of the questions we ask and he is very thorough with his examinations and follow-ups. He is never quick to prescribe anything so fast unless necessary like a lot of doctors may do. One day, my daughter brought her baby doll and grover doll into the office for comfort during her appointment and to make our daughter feel more comfortable, Dr. Nackley took the time to exam both toys, put band-aids on and all before he examined our daughter. From that day on, our daughter loves to see Dr. Nackley! I cannot say anything but good words about Dr. Nackley. I have a ton of other famiy and family friends who couldnt agree more. When we heard that Dr. Nackley was retiring at the end of the month, my husband and I were very saddened to have to find another pediatrician. I have no idea why since my mother was a 4 ft 8 anal-retentive, ball-busting, nazi-Korean woman who terrified all those that knew her. (Really, she was all goo and honey inside). Marcia's approach is relaxed but knowledgeable in ways that put new moms at ease. I remember my daughter's first visit when she was 3 days old. After examining the baby, she asked me if my milk had come in. I just looked at her with that "how the fuck should I know?" look. Without a word, she reached in over my shirt, pulled out a boob and gave it the expert squeeze and out shot a stream of breast milk. "Yup - you got milk" is what she said. Our first child had major health issues and Marcia stuck with us all the way - couldn't have felt more supported. (She even came to our house at one point.) She's always been right on target with diagnoses and after a recent phone consultation, she sent me email articles about a concern with one daughter that proved incredibly helpful in figuring out next steps, including a referral. Our daughters are now "aging out" and I'm kinda sad that our days in those sunny exam rooms are behind us, but I know we must make room for more uncertain, worried new parents wanting the best for their children. (Also, 21 year olds just don't want to see a pediatrician!) Look no further - though compare if you must - you will return to "Dr. Marcia" if you want a combination of experience, compassion, intelligence and humor. The office staff has always excelled at staying on schedule and they also are good at answering/returning phone calls. After many visits where I was constantly ill with ear infections, colds, or pneumonia I got to know the office staff really well. Dr. Wells and Judy noticed that I was taking care of myself and my mothers mental illness was preventing her from doing the things a parent should. I was struggling to work and go to highschool. When I turned 18 and had no medical insurance Dr. Wells saw me free of charge until I was 20. I never once got a bill, I never realized until later that was intentional. I was in his office at least twice a month. He tried to offer me incentives to stay in college and further my education. I was stubborn at the time and just wanted to move away from my mom. Judy and Dr. Wells showed compassion and played such an active role in my young life when I needed it the most. As Judy would say I was their first "office daughter." I think about them often and I am forever grateful that they cared not only for my health, but for me personally. They looked at the "whole child" and never just my illness at that moment. The encouragement and helping hand I needed inspired me. Dr. Wells told me often that I don't do things on the standard path, but I get them done on my own time. I am a happy successful adult with my degree that he pushed me to finish. When I look back at the people who shaped my life I think of them. They are rare people who had a profound affect on someone who had bad circumstances. I wish I realized it back then and I could have given them more appreciation. Judy has a fun easy going personality and a smile on her face. Dr. Wells is one of the most highly intelligent pediatricians I have ever met. I have three children and when I choose a doctor he set the standard for what I look for. The bar is really high for my doctors. I once drove 100 miles for him to see my child for a second opinion after my son had a severe accident. We saw Dr Noland several times over the following days and were genuinely impressed with her attentiveness, confidence and general demeanor. Given her style and situation (as a mid-career doctor with young children of her own), I can certainly understand why many new mothers gravitate to her as a primary pediatrician. And while we are quite happy with our primary doctor's "old school" approach, we've confidently recommended Dr Noland to friends and would be happy to see her more regularly ourselves.
