I'm disappointed in today's veterinarian Visit. My husband was accused of lying when we walked in and they said her was late. My husband said no I'm not my appointments at 10:30. She said no it wasn't it was at 10 and you are late. Sit down and wait. My husband wasn't happy and he said you don't get to call me a liar. I have my confirmation text that says 10:30. This office called yesterday saying it was 10:30. I have it on my calendar for two months that it was 10:30. Even when shown the text from them. I found a great vet that actually fits our dog in for emergencies. Yokayo could fit us in for our dogs last moments. We now use willits for our animals. read more

This place is a joke! I called 2 months ago to make an appointment for two cat spays. At the time they were about 2.5 months old. I was wanting to stay on top of it to prevent an accidental litter. I called the week before my original appointment to confirm the time, lo and behold they "can't find it". I was annoyed, but understood that maybe it was an honest mistake, being that I was speaking to the person I had originally booked with and it was obvious he knew that something didn't go as planned. Understood! Cats are still young, I'll just reschedule. Shocked, however, that the next available spot was not going to be for another month. Ok.... Reschedule. Day of second appointment comes, I get a voice message stating that the doc is sick (understandable) and we need to reschedule to two days from now. Ok, seems reasonable enough, I was going to leave work early for this appointment, so getting that message, clearly I didn't have to and with being busy, didn't immediately call them back. I do however, call back first thing in the morning, and was told the next available appointment wouldn't be until another 40 days with a snarky " we called yesterday and you didn't call us back". Deposit has been paid. Yet, because I didn't call You back immediately then that gives you the excuse to push us that far back? For the second time? Needless to say, I'll take the girls some place else. After being recommended this place by a friend, I've given them more chances than they deserved. Absolute nightmare of a scheduling. Here we are, four months later, with a bigger problem on our hands. Two cats, now at bearing age, who haven't been spayed, not due to owner proactiveness but to the absolute nightmare of scheduling at Yokayo. read more

He couldn't even take the time to look up from the computer to acknowledge my husband and I when we were being checked in and taken care of. They made mistake after mistake at taking care of my dog!! Last month my year old neutred male was in bad bad shape, on a Tuesday at 4:50 pm,. my vet wasn't answering, and when he did call back, he wouldn't come back to the clinic to see my animal.,, The nearest 24 hr vet hospital is 4 hrs away, and it was raining, and getting dark. Yokayo vet center was the ONLY vet out of 6 I called, (all of them from Fort Bragg , Willits, and Ukhia) to tell me to bring him in the next morning. My little guys was in extreme pain, screaming. The doctors there got him right in, for a VERY reasonable price.,, he had to be sedated to examine him or draw blood. Turned out he had a bad bladder infection, and was extremely sensitive to pain. They have him an IM antibiotic and a pain shot that lasts 3 or 4 days....2 days later he was back to normal andwe were SOoooo relieved.,, I can't thank them enough,. whole staff was fantastic. read more

Our sweet dog, Maxwell, had reached his end of life (he was 14 1/2). We contacted Yokayo and though their schedule was full, they were able to find time for him. They accommodated a special request that we had and were all so kind to my family and Maxwell. One always wonders in situations like this if we should wait one more day to see if our pup will improve. The Dr. Farr took extra time to examine Max and talk with us. This was a real comfort for us on our sad drive home: It reassured us that we made the right decision. I had to have my dog cremated after a unexpected passing. I went in on August 14th & paid $337 to have his ashes back and a paw print. We received the paw prints in the mail & my partner was really disappointed with the quality of them. He had planned to do something special with them & is no longer able to do that. On the original form I had put both my number & my partners number. They told me it would be 10-14 days before he would be ready for pickup. After 3 weeks, I finally called & the receptionist w/ a unpleasant tone told me he still wasn't ready & that 10-14 days is only an estimate. She then said they will call me when he's ready. I ended up calling again at the end of that 3rd week & they randomly said he was ready to be picked up. As I'm signing to pick him up, I noticed the paper said he's been ready for 2 weeks!!!! I asked the front desk if that was really the date he was ready, they said yes & that they've been trying to call me?? So the first time I called, the clueless receptionist gave me false information, I don't know if she didn't check or what, but he was ready at that time when she said he wasn't. Then it turns out they had marked the wrong area code for my phone number in their system so I'm confused as to why they didn't try to contact the other number I put down if they weren't getting a response. Regardless they still told me he wasn't ready when i called when he was. Meanwhile my dog's ashes were just sitting in their office for weeks. I'm very disappointed with this whole process. In the grief of losing a family member, I should not have had to call & hunt down my dog's ashes like this. They were disorganized & impersonable which caused me unnecessary extra stress & worry. I wouldn't trust them with any of my future animals. read more

I'll get straight to the point. DO NOT see Dr. Chin. Save yourself the negative experience. She is not fit to be a vet. She is rude, condescending, dismissive, insensitive, arrogant, and clearly does not care about you or your pet. She also does not appear to have the experience or education to give clear veterinary guidance. She seems confused and unsure, and covers it up by being rude. It's very clear that the other staff are aware of her behavior as well. Looking online, she is gaining quite the negative reputation and it is well deserved. Coincidentally, she is usually the only vet available for appointments which tells me she is not in demand. Go figure. I realize that everyone has a bad day sometimes, but I have now had multiple really bad experiences with her and I will never allow her to see my pets again. She acts like she hates her job or it is beneath her. Hopefully she moves on soon so the clinic's reputation isn't tarnished further by this one bad apple. I gave the review two stars only because the rest of the staff have always been so wonderful over the years. They deserve 5 stars, along with the other vets (Farr, Merritt, etc.). It's sad to have to associate their kindness and capability with this one vet and her behavior. Unfortunately, people need to know about Chin and stay away from her. read more

Yogi, needed to get his shots. He was petrified Staff was very friendly on the telephone. We were able to get in on the same day. Receptionist was great. We were a little late, but receptionist greeted us with a smile and asked if it was Yogi. Dr. Jennings was great. Listened to my concerns/questions, very professional. He administered the shots, Yogi did not noticed. Seems like a good vet, plan on coming back. read more

Alison Smith the Yokayo Veterinary Center Manager is absolutely unprofessional and shouldn't be able to be around animals. While on the phone with her she tried telling me it was my responsibility to show up to an appointment which and give a 24 hour notice if I wasn't going to show up, however I gave them a 36 hour notice stating I was not going to show up because the Medication for my cat were not working and it was 2 weeks. She then said oh well you could have waited longer to see if it worked. So in essence she didn't care about my cats health. I went to another vet and my cat was back to normal in 3 days. Now I see why this place is not recommended. They don't care about animals from the front desk all the way to the bed side. read more

Sometimes the best Christmas present you can give your beloved cat, is to let them go. My fathers best friend of 16 plus years is now in a better place. I arrived at my dad's house yesterday afternoon. I could tell by the look on my fathers face that something was wrong. He walked me over to Tribbles and I could instantly tell that he was not at all the same cat that I saw over Thanksgiving. We called Yokayo Veterinary and made an appointment for the next day. But as the evening went on it became quite clear that Tribbles was ready to move on. We spent the day with our little friend carrying him around the house, showing him the Christmas tree and outside in the patio where he spent countless hours in the warm sun. We later met with Dr. Otrubova who explained our options with the ut most compassion and respect. We decided it was best that Tribbles not suffer and that he done his job here on earth being the best friend my dad has ever had. We said our goodbyes and were there till the very end. We have been away from Yokayo vets since Aug 2010, after the death of our pug Violet. Later in that year, we became the owners of 2 adorable rescue pugs, Lulu & Sophie. I was thrilled to be able to take them in to see the vet. But , unfortunately at that time, the front desk wasn't very welcoming, insisting on lab tests, routine shots, etc. that as rescue dogs, they'd just recently gotten [ plus microchipping & spaying] So I reluctantly took them to another vet in Ukiah. Things have gone Ok with them, not crazy about the mechanics of the place [ seems very money driven & regulated, not personal] So... this is what happened... Our 4 yr old pug Sophie had an apparent seizure in Apr, When I called Yokayo at 445pm they immediately wanted me to bring her in. She was seen at 515, and we were given excellent care. In comparison, the Vet we had been using, who was called 1st at 330pm, asked me to wait for a callback [ that took 20 min], that person needed to talk to a dr [ so that took another 30min] and when he called back, said they were all booked, can give no care... "go to Santa Rosa pet care. "I was furious. We will not be going back to that Vet. I am very happy to come back to Yokayo." read more

Excellent care given by Dr. Stephanie! Her tech, Leia (sp?) was great. The payment in full upon visit was unsettling, but I get why. Just bring your bankroll with you. As with any veterinarian, it isn't cheap. Dr. Stephanie did explain the PAW plans, but we paid in full. It appeared as though the front office staff was still in training - yet they were all very helpful and cared about every fur baby that came in... I am so grateful to have them here for my babies.... read more

However, be aware that if you are a drop-in client be prepared to wait upwards of 40 mins to get any return call if at all from their 'leave a message and we will get back to you' set-up. this place is lacking in so many ways! poor customer service, the management is so unprofessional and inexperienced and the vet here dr. merritt should have his license pulled years ago! he could care less whether your pet (family member) lives or dies and has no heart whatsover. so save your pet the experience... if you choose this place you will experience lengthy holds and no return phone calls along with very inexperienced staff throughout. our pets deserve better care and this place could close down and do the community a favor. read more

Yokayo veterinary center treated my dog with care and compassion. She was comfortable with Dr Fahr and never nervous as dogs sometimes are during a vet visit. The staff is friendly and very knowledgable. Everyone treated my dog as she were their own fur kid! read more

My Mom takes her dog to this vet clinic... I refuse to take my pets here! As far as the care he receives, it appears to be sufficient, but I can't really speak to that. What I do know is that my Moms dog is on several medications that my husband or I usually pick up for her (we live in Brooktrails and work in Ukiah). When we have gone to pick up the dogs medication it is pre-paid and pre-ordered 12-24 hours in advance of the pick-up time, yet it is never ready! The office is always busy and we always have to wait. As if that is not irritating in itself, the staff is so incredibly rude! The staff acts as if you are putting them out, asking for extraordinary things without warning! I am, and continue to, strongly advise her to seek a smaller vet clinic, such as Willits Animal Hospital which is closer and kinder.... Unfortunately she won't make the change, so all I can do Is advise others to choose a more compassionate vet with a better environment and more caring staff..... read more

I took my dog in today to see Dr. Chin who is a newer vet at the clinic. I was not impressed. the entire appointment was rushed. she barely examined my dog my in the places of concern and then she was gone before I even knew she was done. I asked the assistant if she was coming back in and she said no she had to go to her next appointment. We use to see Dr. Tran who was very thorough. We will not be back to see Dr. Chin. I gave 3 stars because I like the office staff. read more

I wish I did not have to give even one star. My boyfriend's German Shepherd passed away unexpectedly in December. He called the next day to talk about cremation, and the heartless, insensitive, cold woman who answered the phone was a jerk. She acted annoyed and put out that he even called, then irritated that she had to check on room for the cremation. SHAME ON YOU! Thank Goodness he had the common sense to hang up and call a better service. Find a new line of work if you can't be a compassionate human being. read more

I have had several family pets who have been seen at Yokayo Clinic. Their vets and receptionist have been okay; but it was their willingness to work with me financially that made a huge difference. I had a vet visit today and was informed the same day of the visit that their policy had changed and full payment was expected at this visit. The office manager was rude, unprofessional, and the change of payment policy could have been handled much better. I no longer use this facility and have been very happy with Mendocino Animal Hospital. read more

I had been with this clinic for twenty years, most recently I had gotten a new dog and was forced to sign new onboarding documents. In the packet was a fee for cancelIng appointments I did not agree, but was told I could not go there any longer if i did not sign. I had occasion to need to reschedule my appointment and was charged a fifty dollar fee for this. I called in and explained this was unfair and could they wave the fee. Well Michelle Edwards would not work with me. I have since gone with a different vet, this lady is so money Hungary, and unwilling to see .... We all live in a small community and will probably run into each other at the store, ball games or the pet supply/ feed store. The fact that gas is almost $6.00 a gallon and prices are at an all time high, a bit of human kindness would go a long way in this situation. Im having to pay for a fantasy fee when in truth no actual services were done. Im just serving Michelle Edwards ego and nothing more. Yokayo vet clinic looses and my dog looses we all loose out because of Michelle Edwards big fat EGO. She has absolutely no moral ethic. read more

Very, very disappointed in the care I received there today at the vaccine clinic. The amount of unprofessionalism was not okay. I use to be a client there and have since then switched vets. But my dog needed a vaccine and I was one of the first people there but then everyone who came after me got service before I did. Then the employer came out and asked if I was sure I wanted to get my dogs vaccine there. If I did not want to get it there I would have gone somewhere else and will from now on but if you are questioning your vaccine skills, please do not give vaccines to any other client's animals. If I could give this place no stars I would. No one should ever be treated how I was today! read more

In my experience, Yokayo Veterinary Center has been caring, efficient and helpful. Several years ago I had reached the sad conclusion that our beloved and elderly Ridgeback-Pitbull cross was going to have to be euthanized due to serious pain and mobility issues related to hip problems. Dr. Jackson fortunately did not share my pessimistic outlook and suggested some medication to at least try, in the hope that it might provide my old friend with some alleviation from pain and more time with his family. There was an almost immediate turnaround, and our once muscular athlete of a dog became a bit more like his old self, and the old happy look returned to his grey face. We enjoyed, as did he, more than an additional year of each others' company until we finally had to say goodbye. Have recently had the care of Dr. Jordan and before that, Dr. Raymond, who has moved on. It makes a difference when care providers care for both the pets they treat and for the feelings of those who have made them part of their families. Nobody is perfect, but my experience has been consistently satisfactory. I would recommend Yokayo Veterinary Center without reservation. read more

THESE GUYS ARE THE WORST!!!! Our dog went for a teeth cleaning last week and possibly 4 extractions!!! She was taken in like 3 times before surgery for X-rays blood work etc... and she's been treated there for 2 years. My husband went to pick her up and the vet said "oh it was a rough surgery... we had to take out 19 teeth!!!".... 19 TEETH!!! That's HALF her teeth!! NO PHONE CALL NOTHING!! We both had the day off and our phone on and with us ALL DAY!! My husband actually went in early and she was still in surgery... they said come back... NOTHING about what was going on!!! We are hiring an attorney. Then an assistant says "should I show him the X-rays?" Talking about my husband because she overheard how angry he was... my husband said "well if it shows on the X-rays why didn't you know? Why did you say 4 teeth??" No answer for that! We actually pay for the most expensive "Paw Plan" they offer for our dog and we have our year old kitten aldosterone on a plaKEEP YOUR ANIMALS AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!! read more

The last time I was there, they were busy and refused to see my sick cat on an emergency basis because they were busy, even when I had brought the cat in with my Mom's dog who had an appointment at that time. The blonde lady at the front desk was offensive and rude the entire time. She was turning away several emergencies and bad mouthing a previous client from that morning. I thought, how unprofessional, I wonder what they'll say about me after I leave? Won't go here and never reccommend it to anyone. read more

Do not euthanize at this vet. I had to make the most difficult and devastating decision to euthanize my dog. An experience that is already heartbreaking, was made even more traumatic because of the services provided. My dog was under sedated, and as a result, was fighting the sedation. His head jerked back and forth as he was in my arms. To make matters worse, Dr. Hange administered the sedative, and then left the room. So for about 5 minutes, in my last moments with my dog, while there was no veterinarian in the room, his head was bouncing and jerking back and forth instead of him resting peacefully. Finally, a different veterinarian came in and was shocked by what she found. She immediately realized how uncomfortable my dog was and increased the sedative dose to the appropriate amount. To this day, there is a lasting image of my boy in a very uncomfortable and unsettled state seared into my memory. read more

The receptionist people are nasty, and it appears they could care less about you, or your pet. We had a pregnant dog with only one pup. They told us if there is a black discharge to seek medical attention. We called at 8. They said they'd call us back. Called to inform us that the vet doesn't arrive til 9, which they could have said the first time. Made an appointment for 11:30. We arrived and they informed us to take our dog to Santa Rosa Emergency Vet (again, could have told us the first time) and when we arrived in Santa Rosa (an hour drive), we were then informed that we lost our puppy. I am completely and utterly disgusted at the professionalism that clearly does not exist within this location. We were recommended by friends to change vets to come here and I am extremely disappointed that I decided to take anyone's advice and do so. Someone in this office needs to get their shit together or maybe consider a different profession because animal care isn't working out well for any of these people. read more

I had brought my Lab to Yokayo since I got her out of the shelter years ago. For the longest time I only dealt with them when it was vaccination time. Then we had to start boarding her when we had to travel. They were just wonderful in making accommodations for her, especially on short notice. As she got older and we saw them more she never failed to look forward to going there and they looked forward to seeing her. When we had to let her go, the staff was very sensitive and helpful. The process wasn't easy (it never is) but Yokayo made it less hard than it could have been. A sympathy card and a couple of cards with her paw prints came the next week. Some people have complained about pricing. Try getting your services done elsewhere. Having a pet costs money but compared to other places, Yokayo is competitively priced, at a minimum, and less than others. You can deal with them with confidence. We are taking a break from pets but we'll be bringing any subsequent pets to be treated there. read more

On several occasions when my elderly Italian greyhound needed urgent attention, the staff and veterinarians worked together to fit me in, and to make our visit affordable. This is a veterinary center where they take the time to send you a sympathy card when your pet dies, something which touched me deeply. read more
