We have had animals for over 40 years, and this was the worst vet office we have ever been to! The vet techs are terrible and incredibly condescending. The male vet tech grabbed our puppy by the collar and attempted to drag him onto the scale. When I attempted to intervene, I said "I can just lift him and set him on the scale, we are really trying to keep his early vet visits positive," he replied, "how are we suppose to examine him, if we can't even touch him?" I have had animals my whole life and have worked with them for several years and this was beyond shocking to hear. He never even said hi to our puppy, he just grabbed at his collar and tried to manhandle him (I am sure our puppy was terrified at this point). The two female vet techs were equally bad (very unfriendly). Not one staff member even said hello to our puppy or attempted to establish rapport. It was a very cold, controlling and man handling type environment, which had to be very scary for a puppy's first vet visit (outside of vaccinations). We were present and they were terrible....I can only imagine how they are, without pet parents present. We will absolutely NOT be going back, and recommend you find another vet office, where they care about creating a safe and welcoming environment for animals! Run! read more

I highly recommend Dr Haynes and his assistant Todd to take care of your pet. Most importantly they do not overbook so no crowded waiting room. They always have time to see my little dog Bailey and treat her as if she were part of their family If you are on a tight budget and your pet needs care, you can tell them what your limits are and they will work with you to give your pet the best care within that budget limit. Dr Haynes and Todd recently did oral surgery on Bailey and extracted several teeth. They went above and beyond doing what was necessary for Bailey within my budget and now she is a very happy, healthy girl. read more

I've tried on two separate occasions to call this animal hospital and get their perspective/rec on whether or not I should bring my dog in based on symptoms he was exuding, and both times their only response was "it's up to you." Obviously it is up to me--it's my dog. And I understand that a front desk person can't give actual medical advice, but I'd expect to be able to call an animal hospital and get their perspective on the situation so I can make the call on whether or not to bring my dog in. It's been so incredibly frustrating and feels so dismissive. After both experiences, I've called Willits Animal Hospital which is brother away from me and they've immediately shared their thoughts on what to keep an eye out for, what symptoms *could* mean, etc. which has been so helpful in deciding whether or not I need to bring my dog in. The first time around, based on what they had shared with me, I made the call to bring him in that day and sure enough they extracted a foxtail from his throat. There's just a level of care and investment that I'd always hope to see when calling an animal hospital, and I've literally never experienced it from this place. read more

Horrible! They told me that my dog needed to have almost 10 teeth removed. We decided to wait until we got home to Texas. Our veterinarian in Texas called them and wanted to see the x-rays that they took to explain why my dog needed to have teeth removed. They informed my veterinarian they never even took x-rays!!! They were willing to remove my dog'a teeth, simply for the mere profit!!!! That was several years ago. Day, my dog has not had to have a single tooth removed to this day. He gets an annual dental cleanings and he is fine. This is unconscionable, I'm pretty sure it violates the code of ethics, it's cruel, and all it is is a mere money grab without consideration of the poor dog. I can't even imagine what the people who live out there are allowing this quack to do to their dogs because their options are limited and they feel they have to trust this unethical clinic. This veterinarian is putting their animals through cruel needless procedure without even exams i g the patient properly!!!! There are other options out there! This veterinarian is making decisions without even taking x-rays! Unbelievable. Never use this place if you care about your animals. read more

We had our recently-acquired rescue spayed here and they were wonderful, including with all our follow-up questions. Then most recently, our dog became suddenly ill. They got her in right away, ran diagnostics and got her on the road to recovery. When considering a plan of care, they discussed options and included the financial aspect, as well. Fortunately, I had the forethought to get pet insurance, but I still appreciated the discussion. The staff was kind and caring, and we think they're terrific. I will add that we live over an hour's drive from them and they are not our regular vet, but our normal office is so booked up, short-staffed, and busy, that Ukiah Vet has become our backup. if we didn't live so far away, they would definitely be our vet of choice. read more

On the phone I was told $200 to have our cat spayed, including all the necessary shots. It was $324 without all the shots. When I first called I was told to call back when the kittens were weaned. I did. Mistake! By then it was the only place in town with openings within months, and a cat can go right into heat when the kittens wean. It felt like the doctor's main objective was our wallets, but there was a guy working there who was good with animals. That guy seemed gifted in animal care. Other places give pain medicine after surgery. This place charged an extra $60. read more

I had a horrible experience and so did my dog. I took her in for teeth cleaning. When I came to pick her up, they had removed ALL of her teeth. While the doctor had explained to us the full range of dental care they provide including extraction when required, I never dreamed he'd remove ALL of her teeth without so much as calling me. It might have something to do with the fact that when we came in for the initial exam and he tried to look at her teeth, she bit him. She is traumatized and so are her humans. Terrible communication. I also found the receptionist/office person to be rude and difficult--one of those people that seems to feel powerful by being mean. Never ever going back to this vet again. read more

I honestly don't know how this place is getting 5 star reviews. We just had our cats' claws trimmed yesterday but will never be going back. The last time I had my cats' claws trimmed at this place, the man clipped one of my cat's claws too short and she hissed. When we were there yesterday, not only did she hiss twice at him for cutting her claws too short, we noticed there was some blood on the clippers as well. My husband pointed this out and he said, "Oh, that's because I didn't clean them from the last appointment." Last time I checked I'm pretty sure you should sanitize ALL your equipment, so I don't know what this guy was thinking. I am dearly hoping that they will discuss this issue with him, but in the in the meantime I would highly suggest you go somewhere else to have your cats' nails trimmed. My dog required emergency care and Dr. Haynes' office staff worked to get him seen the next day. This is in contrast with other clinics in town that charge a fee for emergency visits and even then not agree to see the animal no matter how long you have been a regular customer. Dr. Haynes conducted a thorough examination and performed a needed surgery the next week. Dr. Haynes, Vet tech Todd, and office staff Jessica and Pilar have been professional, courteous, and efficient. While on vacation, my golden retriever inhaled a foxtail. I was driving to a vet emergency hospital and spotted UVH on the way. Luckily, they had an opening and Dr. Haynes diagnosed and removed the foxtail without fuss. I was in and out of the hospital with my dog within 1.5 hours. Dr. Hansen is a wonderful, professional, caring Veterinarian, and his staff is fantastic. Dr. Hansen is not rushed, takes all the time necessary to do a thorough exam, answer questions, explain options, and arrive at a solid treatment plan. For those of us who don't live close to Ukiah, the ability to clarify questions by phone is great. His staff works with me to schedule appointments that work for my time in Ukiah. I think most importantly, Dr. Hansen understands how badly we want to do the best for out animal friends, yet he always understands financial limitations and works with me to treat my animals effectively. I started coming here because my cat got hit by a car and couldn't get in for an emergency appt with my normal vet. Dr. Hanes did an amazing job caring for her and got her all back to normal in no time. I also brought my dog here when she had fox tails stuck in her throat and once again, he got them removed quickly and did an amazing job with her. I have completely switched over to this vet because I LOVE the way they handled my animals(nothing but the upmost care and compassion) and they aren't here to take all your money! Dr. Hanes or his awesome receptionist Tracy will call you if they need to do more work and they are very forward if something is going to cost more $$$. The Dr. is very friendly and has a good personality. My old vet seemed burnt out and it felt like I was talking to a wall when id ask questions. Dr. Hanes actually CARES and gives great advice! i have a pit-bull and it's hard for anyone to tend to her because she's really scared and naturally gets aggresive. but this place has been really nice and just took charge despite the aggression my dog gave off and in the end she would lick the doctor and his helpers it was just the sweetest thing. glad i found this place and would recommend it to anyone! read more
