The plain vanilla soft serve with the hot fudge was also so great. Hot fudge can be very rich at times, but theirs wasn't it was not overly sweet which i really liked. After deciding to share a peanut buster parfait and having it finally arrive, everything seemed normal: Spanish peanuts, lots of hot fudge, all freshly made. All was not normal. It seems that whoever added the peanuts to the parfait either dumped them on or scooped them up from the bottom of the container...there was SO much salt mixed in with the parfait. At first, it was still palatable, but after a couple of bites it became so overpowering that we could not continue eating it. 4 stars for the friendly enough service and convenient location, 1 star for the pure salt in our ice cream.

FOOD: Cheeseburger and cheese curds: unfortunately, I had to have them make it over because there was mustard on my burger. I know that is common in some parts of the country, but I have never experienced that at Dairy Queen at the Wappingers Falls location. They were very accommodating and did make the burger over. I just put some extra tip in the jar. WHY did they lose a star? Simple - the ice cream has too much air in it. It's not creamy like Dairy Queen should be.

Hard ice cream is made on-site, and it is creamy, smooth, and delicious. Flavors stand out, unlike some shops where everything tastes the same. I like to start out by saying the Ice Cream is delicious, but that's seems to be where it stops as I can buy really delicious Ice Cream from the supermarket also! The store is kind of funky to get into as you feel like your walking thru someone's garage over studio equipment to get into their kitchen instead of an Ice Cream Store Front. I don't feel the cool Ice Cream atmosphere here, no red and white stripes, no clown kiddie set up, or no farm milky theme, no real personality other then sitting in some random neighbor kitchen you've been invited to a couple of blocks over from your place. The lady behind be the counter seems pretty bored working there and seems just to be doing time for the money. Very nice to the customers but couldn't give any suggestions, was to nice to be a grumpy old sarcastic mean cashier we could make fun of. Just a nice lady. Today was a different experience; altogether! Some of the booths need to be reupholstered, the menus are starting to come apart, the waiter we had, could barely get the orders straight and to the table in a timely manner. It was if we were in a Gordon Ramsay Kitchen Nightmares episode and didn't know it. Pastrami could've been used as roof shingles, it was that hard. My order was supposed to come with potato salad and he brought macaroni. Duh. My friend ordered the pastrami with lettuce and tomato on the side. They put hot pastrami on top of a cooked tomato and no lettuce. Double Duh! Another friend of mine had the sliders. Yeah, they could slide just like a hockey puck can slide. They were just as hard and tough as a hockey puck. The Cole slaw looks like someone put it through a mixmaster. It had the consistency of sawdust; you couldn't make out the coleslaw from anything else that was in it. It looks like they're riding on their long existence and the Guy Fieri visit from DDD to bring in the diners. Come to think of it, it was odd that it was the dinner hour, and the place was practically empty. Doubt we'll be back.
