There is nothing like a frozen treat on a hot summer day. Yogurt Beach definitely delivers. Yogurt Beach is set up like many of the self serve yogurt shops - a wall of levers with delicious flavor options. The only difference is that you don't do samples yourself. A staff member will actually come out to the wall and serve you a taste of whatever you would like. When you have made your decision you fill up the cup yourself. I decided on the vanilla and chocolate frozen custard swirl - oh yeah! It was delicious. Rich, creamy and perfectly flavored. It was also the right texture, not icy at all but did not melt too quickly either. That's a good thing when the next stop is loading up the cup with toppings. Everything from cereals to nuts and candy bar pieces. The shop itself is set up very nicely as well with the "beach" theme. Tables inside are surf boards and there is plenty of seating. The only thing keeping it from being a 5-star location are the flies inside the shop. We wanted to sit at one of the surf boards, but there were too many flies zooming around us and trying to get to the delicious frozen yogurt/custard. This review is of the staff. 5-frickin' stars. They are all happy, friendly, nice young people, which is just a pleasure. Reno, all around actually, appears to be an extremely friendly place. The yogurt, for one reason or another, didn't appeal. There are three or four different vendors of the yogurt, custard, and sorbet. The machines create a superbly consistent and creamy product, but even though I'm not a huge fan of Yo Cream brand frozen yogurt, I preferred it to the Rainbow-something-or-other that they had in certain flavors. Everyone raved about the "cake batter" but I've had much better at Golden Spoon and at the yogurt store in Lafayette, Ca (next to the Whole Foods on Mt. Diablo) of what real "cake batter" should taste like. The toppings bar is extensive, and I can totally see why people rave about it. It's $0.35/oz. I'd come back for a pick-me-up from the adorable staff. Loved them all. I wouldn't necessarily have the yogurt, but it isn't inedible. It just didn't move me. Word of warning: the hours everywhere are posted wrong. Here on Yelp, it says they are open Sun-Thursday until 10p. On the website, it claims they are open until 11p everyday. In fact, they close (at least Sun-Thursday) at 10:30p. read more

Because of yogurt beach I now have a dangerous love affair with frozen yogurt! I have tried many other yogurt shops but none compare! The yogurt always has a much more creamy texture, they always have tons of flavored to chose from and even more topping choices! Yogurt Beach is by far the best yogurt spot in Reno. This particular location never disappoints. They have pretty standard flavors with occasional switches to some seasonal flavors. You do have to ask for samples, but the employees are always willing to assist! They have almost every possible yogurt topping and their topping area is clean and organized! They also have the option to mix your choices into a milkshake as well as additional hot syrup toppings (a rarity sometimes). They price by the weight and their prices are pretty standard. They also have the option of a punch card for returning customers! Overall a great spot whether its summer or winter and your in need of a quick and unique treat! read more

Generally you don't hit the frozen sweets mid winter, but this weather has been an exception! After a great bike ride we stopped in, and to no surprise, the place is always busy. They stay on top of replenishing the fruits and toppings, and they do a nice job of mixing up their specialty yogurts. The only problem we ever have is deciding what to get! Can't wait for the warmer- warm weather and we will be here every day after school! This is by far my favorite place to get frozen yogurt. I can not say enough good things about this place. They have a great selection of yogurt choices, and so many topping to choose from. The toppings area is huge, and you are never having to wait for other people to select theirs. The fruit is always fresh. The cake batter is by far my favorite. They have a new flavor or two every week, and they have all been great. The staff here is so friendly. I have been their several times since they opened and have always been treated so kindly. It was a cold Tuesday night in Reno. I had just eaten a wonderful burrito and Buenos and I was craving some dessert. I opened the door to Yogurt Beach and was welcomed by an employee that I would later get to know as "PJ." Walking up to the yogurt selections I was overwhelmed by the plethora of yogurt flavors. It is rare to find so many different flavors these days. PJ offered me some samples and I must admit I tried almost all of them. I created a wonderful tart, cookie dough, and caramel base and threw on some of the many different toppings that they offer. I checked out my creation as I walked up to the register and boy was I happy! PJ commented that my yogurt looked "fantastic" as he rung me up. I enjoyed my creation in one of the cool island themed tables. This place deserves 5 stars because of the friendly workers (PJ) as well as the high quality yogurt and selection of toppings. read more

Im sorry but the workers JP and Hannah are awful!! So uninviting, depressed looked on their faces, so rude whenever I asked a question. I couldn't even find a green cup they hadnt refilled them. It seemed like I was pulling teeth asking for a sample. This particular Yogurt Beach is a great atmosphere for children and adults, many kids on Wednesdays after school head over to Yogurt Beach for a great experience. My brother and I enjoy it very much it is always the highlight of our day whenever we go. The prices are great and the yogurt is amazing. Just treated myself to a healthy small cup of chocolate custard and cake batter, added fresh mango, black berry and kit kat pieces. They charge by weight so be extra careful not to overdo your bowl. Yogurt Beach is wonderful. They always have delicious flavors and often rotate new ones in. Their toppings bar is what really sells me though. There are so many options: fruit, cereal, nuts, candy, chocolate, syrups. They have the best variety, in my opinion. They also do shakes although I haven't tried them. They have punch cards to gain rewards. Every 10 punches earns you a free yogurt. The staff, while young, is always friendly & quick. Samples are available upon request. The store isn't all that large. Which would be my one complaint; although, the shopping center has a lot of outdoor seating which is nicely landscaped. This is the best place in Reno to get frozen yogurt. The consistency is perfect- when I get froyo at other places, it's icy and way too sweet. I also like the flavors here the best- raspberry and peanut butter are my favorites. You can also make root beer floats with the vanilla froyo- I haven't tried it, but it's a cool option if you want something different. It's located in a nice little plaza with Walden's Coffeehouse and various other bakeries/restaurants/little shops. I like that it's in a more secluded area instead of next to a bunch of commercial chain stores like most froyo places. There's seating inside and outside, and the price is pretty standard for froyo. Awesome place! Love the variety. Unfortunately, every time I have gone, they are out of cups. How does a yogurt place NOT HAVE yogurt cups? Instead, you get stuck with an apology and a MASSIVE cup the size of a 52 gallon drum. The last few times we've been in the girls at the counter are too busy flirting or chatting with boys in he store to bring sample cups over... seriously when will yogurt beach decide to let customers grab their own sample like all the other places do? A great, fun little spot for a fun dessert. Lots of fun yogurt flavors, and an amazing array of toppings to make a custom frozen creation. The staff of young people were all super friendly and helpful, and talked us noobs through the process of building our sundaes and paying for them (they sell by weight). Yogurt Beach has the best frozen yogurt I've ever had. You won't want to go back to u-swirl or Yogurtland after eating here. The prices may be a little higher than the chain frozen yogurt shops, but you won't be disappointed. Their yogurt has more of a creamy texture and reminds me more of ice-cream than frozen yogurt. Beyond irritated, and the employees just look, never have offered a napkin...or a "the napkins are right over there" when I'm looking for them to clean myself up. I have stopped at this store several time. It is a much better setup than MMM Yogurt and there seems to be more toppings. The staff has been extremely nice. I really like the more tart flavors and the plain tart is my favorite. I always get the blackberries and they are nice and fresh. As others have pointed out I wish they had smaller cups but I know the idea is to fill them up since you pay by the ounce. Nice place to stop for a treat. read more
