As for yoga, I have only been practicing since Dec 25, 2014 and I have been exposed to many yoga studios, instructors, and teaching styles (Long Beach, Fullerton, La Habra, Cypress, Seattle, Killeen, Houston, Dallas, and Austin). The studio has ambient parking for the yogis. When you walk in, the front desk is located on the right for check in. They have available manduka mats, blocks, and straps for your practice. They sell water and other sport drinks. To the right are "cubbies" similar to the kindergarten days to store your excess clothes, purses, shoes, etc. There is a water fountain that trickles water (try to fill your water bottle before practice or else spend a minute filling a 24oz bottle). There is an extremely clean bathroom (probably want to poop at home). When you enter the studio, they provide sweat towels. To conclude practices, they give cold and lavendar-scented savasana towels! I have attended 6 sessions and have always enjoyed how crowded and sweaty my fellow yogi's and I get. The studio is heated for multiple reasons: detoxicification, cardiovascular workout, and increase flexibility. The practice are endorsed for yogi's of different levels. The instructors make that clear from the start, but during practice they will recommend suggestions for the experience practicers. So for instance, she will suggest to do this jumping practice. Some people will do hops. Others will be able to spring into handstands. The advance will be able to twist their legs like pretzels, curve their backs, straddle their legs, etc. Lastly, the more people involved in the class, the more fun that we have. Overall, check this place out. Your practice is your practice and Breath and Body assists you with expanding and developing it to higher and untraveled levels. I wish that I lived closer to become a regular practicer at this studio, but have been fortunate for the times that I have practiced here. And you conclude with savasana towels.

Their hours and continuous class options are pretty accommodating. Here are my 2 issues with JM: (1.) The classes are too big! Each time I have been there, it is a constant struggle to keep from kicking someone in their eye. (2.) This is just me, but I am a bit put off that there is no water fountain or source of water here except for you to pay $1 for plastic (bad, bad anti-green Joy Moves) bottled water. You can bring your own water, however, if I just paid $18 for a workshop, I think you can give me a bitch ass glass of water for free. No? Oh no - what's this? JM has raised their prices since I first wrote this review. Takin' it down a notch.

The only reason I've ever even ventured so far out of Austin proper to this place is for 2 sound bath events that a beloved practitioner was hosting. I've had horrible interactions with their check in people both times and heard similarly from others who aren't "regulars" here. This is not a knock on the general people in this part of Austin as the folks I've had the opportunity to experience/get to know in class on both occasions have been lovely. It's a review based on the unnecessarily bad interactions with staff in this studio during the check in process for after hrs classes. Tonight, I walked in and waited directly next to a woman (who look most like the pic for "Liz D" who I never met before 8/8) who was clearly responsible as "the one checking people in with a manual sheet of names that she's confirming payment for before allowing entry into the room next door." As I'm waiting, she acts like I'm wearing an invisible cape and makes a big show of happily greeting 4 people who walk in after me and tells them to go ahead to the sound bath room w/o doing any checklist scratch off things (these peeps, btw aren't on "the list" which I can clearly see standing 5" to her side on the right). I interject into her happy greeting of another clique member to say I need to check in as I've paid for class. She asks my name and then points to someone named Anteylou (sp?) as the only "Ann" she sees. I repeat that my name is "Ann" not what she's pointing to and she proceeds to tell me I'm not on the list and starts to walk away. As she's departing I more loudly state I clearly see my name in the first column and spell it out for her. She turns around, glares at me, rolls her eyes, looks back at her clique, and gives me her best/worst valley girl impersonation of an obnoxious "Oh that's so great, thanks for letting me know!!! Have a great time!!!!!" And then smirks looking back at her clique encouraging them to giggle. WTF?! I will never be back to this location as the front end staff (or at least the women who worked the last 2 events on 8/8 and 7/21) have such awful demeanors that vomit an unexpected bad vibe on you when all you're trying to figure out is who the person is to "check in with because you paid for a spot in the room" that you have to focus on releasing and transmuting that ick before you can actually start enjoying class. :( Not sure if these women doing the check ins for special sound bath classes that begin at 8 pm are frustrated with having to work after hours and the manual task of and scratching out names of paid guests who aren't part of their clique on a handwritten list or they have other difficult personal matters going on in life in general, but goodness, ya'll don't need to take it out on the guests who've signed up and paid for a class! If you're paid and/or volunteered to check people into a class/session it's pretty easy to just confirm names and say WELCOME and move along. If that's frustrating for you, don't agree to do it. Problem solved! If you're an adult, I don't recommend anyone trying this place. So MANY other kind places in Austin that are a better way to spend your time and $$.

I drive about 30 mins. each way, but they are so worth it. The space is cozy, with two main studios, two nice restrooms stocked with hygiene supplies (I just think this is a nice touch), and a welcome area with cubbies for your shoes that smells like incense, and where you are always warmly welcomed. Sometimes instructors invite you to choose an intention card. The studios have adjustable lighting and overhead fans, and there are plenty of props available (you can bring your own mat or rent one). There is an interesting plumbing system in the building where pipes sometimes make burbling water noises. Rather than being a distraction, I find this actually oddly comforting -- sounds like gushes of rainwater or something. My favorite classes so far are Mindful Movement & Meditation, which involves 30 minutes of gentle stretch and 30 mins of meditation (this formula is my personal idea of heaven!), and there's also a Nervous System Reset taught by Sam Pullen, which must be experienced to be understood. It's an interesting somatic-style healing experience that will leave you wrung out but peaceful. Every instructor here has unique gifts and something to offer you, if you show up with an open heart and mind. The only tiny detractors for me: parking can be an issue (you battle for space with ACC in the attached garage--though students are not supposed to park there, they do, anyway), and it can be difficult to navigate the My Vinyasa Practice website to find the class schedule and sign up for classes -- I get the sense the studio heavily leans towards teacher training, and markets those classes primarily.
