Dawn is an excellent instructor and can teach any experience level. I had zero yoga and she's turning me into a yogee.

Talk about a hidden gem! Bizia has a yoga studio on the opposite end of the same parking lot as…read moretheir coffee and surf shop. As far as yoga studios go, this one is unparalleled. The space is so serene and inviting. The lobby and restroom is downstairs. There are lockers available, a shelf to leave your footwear as you enter, and a small seating are. The actual yoga studio is upstairs and it's bright, airy, and clean. In the corner, there are yoga mats, blocks, bolsters, straps, and in another corner, there are dumbbell sets for sculpt classes. Canopy offers so many different yoga classes and they have many instructors who lead them. All are welcoming, friendly, and embody the state of calmness. Carly teaches flow and sculpt classes. They are controlled classes that build strength and focus and believe me, after taking her classes, I feel it for the next few days! Elena teaches several classes and I enjoy taking her Prana class on Fridays to unwind from my busy week. I was fortunate to attend Allie's first class as a yoga instructor and she taught Canopy Slow. I got a good workout and the impression that she was definitely not new to yoga, just new to the studio. I've also taken Canopy Embodied Hatha Yoga with Allie and she quickly became my favorite yoga instructor. She speaks clearly during class and loud enough to hear over the music, but not boisterous at all. Don't have a babysitter? They have Mama and Me classes. I've taken Mama and Me classes from Mariah and Janelle. Both classes were fun, entertaining, and naturally, not the typical yoga class you'd expect. When you go, you have to accept that the class may get chaotic with kiddos playing, and at times wanting attention. It can be fun because some yoga poses allow for you to bond with your little one. For instance, when in tabletop position, my little one climbed on my back and laid there. When we had to go down and do a chaturanga (yoga push-up), it intensified my workout when my son was on my back. Other kiddos loved going underneath their moms while in tabletop, and some kiddos just loved hanging out with other kiddos. There are toys and books available for the kids to play with during the class. Both Mariah and Janelle did a good job of trying to occupy the kiddos towards the end of class when we were in shavasana/corpse pose that promotes relaxation. Mariah blew bubbles with the kids, and Janelle read a book to the kiddos who sat still. Overall, the Mama and Me classes are fun to attend, and add a good mix to the yoga they offer. A few classes that I plan to try are: Canopy Active Restore (designed to support recovery), and Canopy Surf (mirrors the qualities of surfing - balance, patience, and fluid motion). I enjoy practicing yoga as a way to challenge myself and improve my physical and mental health. Yoga originated from Eastern religions, particularly Hinduism, but the yoga instructors at Canopy have never pushed the actual roots of yoga onto us in class and focus on promoting wellness. Canopy is truly a place to focus, relax and or energize, stretch, and work on your breath. It's a place free of judgement and the instructors welcome all levels of practice and offer modifications for wherever you are in your practice, whether it may be adding a yoga block to help with the pose, or offering a modification to intensify the pose.

Hot and New yoga studio in central Oahu!…read more I love that Wahiawa has a space like this for the yogi community. From the same people who run Bizia, the coffee shop on the other side of the parking lot. It's such a beautiful space that makes you feel at ease from the second you step instead. When you walk in there's a spot for you to take off your shoes, and then the front desk to check-in. To the left of the check-in desk are some lockers and a machine to fill up your water bottle. From there, you walk up the stairs to enter the yoga studio. I forgot my yoga mat but they had a ton of mats for people to borrow- a lifesaver! You really gotta see this space for yourself but it's absolutely beautiful and well designed. Everything down to the speakers mounted above the front of the room-- just creates such a zen space. The class that I went to was a beginners class and the instructor even offered essential oils at the start and rose water at the end. It was such an amazing experience, can't wait to come back! They even have a cold plunge and sauna spot right across from them for the perfect wellness day.

Popular spot for teens & adults. Hubby & I decided to improve ourselves this year and joined UFC since 24 Hour Fitness had a poor parking situation. I was matched up with coach Lawrence and he's been awesome in helping me get back on track with my balance and strength training. He encourages you to do more but also supports you so you don't feel down when you can't do that extra "one". He'll sneak in that "one" after a short break. Hahaha!! I feel stronger and motivated to work out more.

But I wish this location would do a better job with upgrading the Speakers in their Fitness room. For a few months the speakers are either blown out or won't connect at all it's very irritating when you're taking Zumba, Cycling, or Body Pump and everything just cuts out. Majority of the free weights in the room, the plastic is cracked off which I've gotten cut by. I also wish they could enforce Guest watching their kids during class to not sit on the equipment as their are others that actively want to use the machine especially during peak hours. But overall it is a great gym and the Staff is absolutely incredible and welcoming, It's very clean and they have a great Armbar that's well stocked.

Its never really busy around lunch time and I can always find an elliptical, treadmill, or stairmaster to work on. They have tons of free weights as well as machines with weights in a small room to the side. They also have a sauna there. The locker rooms have lockers available for daily use or I think you can rent one out on a monthly basis or something like that (don't quote me on this!). Another great perk here is that they have free wifi! So you can stream your music without going over on your data (for those of us who don't have those plans that exclude music from our data usage). The staff here is friendly. Once they see you enough, they always say hi. I always see them cleaning the machines too and sweeping. Some things to remember: *Bring your ID card as they have 100% ID check. Once you register, you have to scan each time you come in. *Bring a small towel to wipe your sweat. *Wipe the machines down after you use it with the provided paper towels and cleaner. *Bring your headphones. Although they play music, theres just so much machines running, weights clanging together, and just movement in general, it is kind of hard to hear the music well.

I visited Mad Tiger on a weekday gi class and am impressed - Prof Eric and three of his awesome students (2x blue, 1x brown belt) welcomed me with open arms. The instructions from Prof Eric were situationally based that I could easily relate and practice. Rolling followed and you can easily assess the quality of the gym and instructor by the way students roll, especially with an out of town visitor - they practiced restraint and control, instead of cranking down to execute a submission (where injuries can occur) or using unscrupulous (i.e. butthole) techniques, ensuring everyone was able to have a good grappling session. Located in a converted warehouse in a residential area, close to Wheeler Army Airbase (Wahiawa), MTA has the vibe of an old school academy with a great professor and students. I know where I'll be visiting when I travel to Hawaii.
