Of course, I was pleasantly surprised to enter the space, and be surrounded by the most beautiful and lush plants. The space was so warm and everyone was welcoming. I knew that I was in a good space. After realizing that I left my yoga mat, I was able to purchase one for a small fee. I was directed back outside and upstairs to the yoga studio that was for my group. All of this to say that the space was spacious, warm, colorful, and clean. Our instructor led us through gentle stretching poses, and I left refreshed...almost a little bit lighter. If I lived closer, I'd definitely return sooner. Sharing a review with hopes that those who live near this wonderful studio will stop by to visit.

Adding onto the bounty of good reviews below. I started doing yoga at home to find peace and time…read morefor myself in a hectic and stressful life. The random ten minute videos on YouTube were fantastic starters, but I realized that I wanted something more so I found Grace, a studio local to me. The first session was free, so it was a good way to get introduced to the place and the people there. So let's start there. I almost had enough time to say hello to the receptionist when she recognized that I was a new face, smiled, and introduced herself to me. She offered a tour to me, which was friendly, but I was surprised that another attendee offered to take me on a tour herself! It was clear to me then that the friendliness was contagious. I really appreciate that the equipment is available at no cost. Having the mats, the blocks, the bands, and even blankets there meant that I could participate at the same level that more experienced yogis could. This first session, I rolled out in the back as Jade started speaking. The whole experience was wonderful, but something she said stood out to me: when someone's phone rang and they apologized, Jade responded with a smile and said "Don't be sorry. This just means someone's thinking of you." And then I knew that the community was eager to share their wisdom and peace with others. On the community board (which highlights members, friends, and local services) I saw that the first month was available for a reduced price, and after such a wonderful first experience, I knew I was going to sign up. I'm almost done with this month and have practiced under different instructors but have found them all incredibly welcoming. I also appreciate the ability to participate from home, which I've done on several occasions, and an equal level of engagement from the instructor. I've had a really positive experience thus far and am excited for many more months of good yoga and community!

I've also taken rise and rest yoga with Lenore. This was a relaxing way to wind down from a busy day. I recently competed a yoga strength class with Amy. This was an all-level class and she offered us options to modify or intensify each move. Amy played a nice mix of songs from her phone during the class; however, the music kept being interrupted by notification dings, which was distracting. Overall, I found Grace Studio to be a decent place for a yoga workout. The studio is equipped with mats, weights, blocks, resistance bands, and bolsters. Instructors offer verbal assists rather than hands-on adjustments for yoga moves. Instructors are welcoming, the studio is bright and inviting, and classes are not crowded.

Per the instructions on groupon, I emailed Fran so that I could create a log in online but I didn't hear back from her so I called the office. Once my account was created, I was able to sign up for classes. I was informed before I took any classes I would need to take the Intro to Equipment class. Fran was the instructor. She was patient and helpful as it was my first time and I needed specialized attention. For my second session, I took Reformer I & II with Doreen. Foe my last session I took Tower with a substitute for Doreen. All the instructors were patient, helpful, and friendly. They ask if anyone had injuries and they walk around and if your technique is wrong they adjust and correct you which I greatly appreciated. The classes were challenging to me since I am not good at following directions. Also, if you don't remember instructions well, I recommend taking Intro to Equipment multiple times. I had to look around to see how to do things as I am a visual learner, not an audio learner. The facility is tucked away in the corner and is not visible if you are in the parking lot. Fortunately I saw someone wearing athletic clothes and followed them. The facility is clean and bright. There are two individual restrooms. There is a main room with cubbies. The reformer room also had cubbies. The reformer room was slightly warm even with ceiling fans so I dressed lighter the second and third session. I enjoyed my experience, but could have benefitted from more intro classes. The classes were much different than my normal cardio and strength training classes at my gym. The pace was slower and it was a great way to relieve stress. I highly recommend Core Fitness for Pilates.

After doing a quick search, I found that Imagine Yoga & Wellness Center offered prenatal yoga classes during after work hours and it wasn't too far from home. Eureka! After my first prenatal yoga class with instructor Anu (who is also a mom!), I was hooked. I went consistently from the time I was four months until I gave birth at nine months pregnant. I followed the instructions on the website by emailing them and letting them know which class I wanted to attend. They were prompt with getting back to me. I showed up Saturday morning to the Intro to Yoga class at 10:30 am. I for whatever reason bought a mat some time ago and had it in my trunk, but if you do not have a mat they provide them free of charge. The space is a clean little renovated house/studio with enough room for about 10 to 12 people. I liked that it was small and intimate. The instructor was very pleasant and asked us our names and why we decided to try Yoga. Then she put on the soft music and took us into a range of motions while explaining what everything meant and what areas of the body we were working. Everything flowed naturally, it was not intimidating at all, she offered alternate poses for the less limber and inexperienced. She welcomed questions through the process, but most of us were so into the flow we talked more with our bodies than with our mouths. I left with a clear head and calm demeanor. The website is very detailed down to telling you the class level (gentle, rigorous, active), who the instructors are, and what you will be doing in each class. So much to choose from: There is meditation, Yoga for weight loss, Yoga abs& powerful flow, prenatal yoga, and so much more! I also saw where newbies can get their very first class for free, check out the website. I am so excited to get back to this place!

I attended Studio #1 last Saturday and loved it so much that I know I'll be attending that class and that teacher every Saturday (See my other reviews for my review of Yoga District....Wisconsin Avenue branch). Studio #2 I attended on Tuesday. It is the Hyattsville location---"Love Yoga". Initially I was a little thrown off to be honest with you. The teacher's style is 100% different from my first teacher at the other studio. I could tell that the first teacher (at Yoga District) has been practicing yoga for many moons now and that she is a master teacher. This teacher (Sherri) is happy-go-lucky and does not take herself too seriously. She goes with the flow, is funny and is a terrific teacher. I would not call her a master but she is good, and fun, and knowledgeable and challenging. She's hands on and is good at correcting postures. Right away she had us trying head stands, shoulder stands and a lot of other challenging poses. I broke a sweat for sure! The studio itself is eeny-weeny. There were 4 of us there, plus the teacher and that was plenty for comfort. However, I'm guessing that at least 8 can fit in there but it would be tight. Will I return? No. But it has nothing to do with the teacher or the space. It's just that the first teacher's style fits my personality to the absolute n'th degree. And so I'll be attending her class for as long as she teaches it. I have one more studio to visit and if I like that one, I'll have 2 studios to visit...but at least I have one for now. Do I recommend you attend the "Love Yoga" studio? ABSOLUTELY! I highly recommend you check it out. I have only been in Sherri's class so I cannot speak for the other teachers at that location. But Sherri is fun, hip, encouraging, and will work you into a sweat. Check it out!
