The studio itself is nice enough. Unfortunately, the way this business handles memberships and…read morecancellations is absolutely disgraceful.
The instructors, staff, and class times change constantly, so consistency was already not exactly their strong suit. But none of that compares to how they handled my membership.
At the beginning of this year, I suffered a back injury and had to freeze my membership. After MORE THAN SIX MONTHS with my membership frozen, my back still had not improved enough for me to return. I emailed the studio, explained the situation, and clearly told them that unfortunately I needed to CANCEL my membership.
They assured me it was "no problem."
Apparently, "no problem" meant absolutely nothing.
MONTHS later, they suddenly began repeatedly attempting to charge my account. Not once. Not an isolated billing mistake. MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS to take money from my account months after I had already contacted them in writing to cancel.
Then, when I addressed it with them, I was told that if I wanted to finally be out of the membership, I would have to PAY THEM FOR ONE FINAL MONTH.
Excuse me?
I canceled MONTHS AGO.
You don't get to acknowledge someone's cancellation, disappear for months, repeatedly attempt to charge their account, and then suddenly announce that they owe you another month's payment if they want the membership they ALREADY CANCELED to finally be canceled.
And after multiple attempts, one of their charges has now successfully gone through.
That is beyond unacceptable.
I did everything responsibly. I didn't ghost them. I didn't simply stop showing up and decide I didn't feel like paying. I suffered an injury, froze my membership for more than six months hoping I would recover, and when it became clear that I couldn't return, I CONTACTED THEM IN WRITING and told them to cancel. They acknowledged my request and told me it was "no problem."
Yet somehow, months later, I'm being charged and told I need to pay them AGAIN to get out.
If you're considering joining this studio, READ EVERY WORD of whatever membership agreement they put in front of you. SAVE EVERY EMAIL. Screenshot every conversation. Keep proof of every cancellation request. And even after you believe you've canceled, WATCH YOUR BANK ACCOUNT.
Because apparently at this studio, "no problem" doesn't mean your cancellation has been handled. It means you may find out months later that they still consider themselves entitled to your money.
A nice studio means absolutely nothing to me when this is how the business side is run.
I would NEVER recommend this place after this experience, and I will absolutely be disputing the charge.
