They don't take credit cards and I didn't have cash, but the teacher let me take the class anyway and send a check later ($17 for a drop-in rate, though it's cheaper if you sign up for the class series). The class was well-taught -- the teacher knew her stuff and placed the correct amount of emphasize on anatomical correctness and breath. But it just wasn't for me. It's an older, less physical crowd than I'm used to, and the class really didn't feel like much of a workout. I know, yoga isn't all about asana, but I work in an office and sit nearly motionless all day. Yoga class is my time to move and sweat, and I barely did either. Afterwards I just wanted to go home and sleep. But if you want low-intensity yoga for relaxation and restoration, this is a good place. The space was clean and nice (though the ceiling felt low and gloomy and the room was cooold), and they have a wonderful assortment of props (mats, blocks, blankets, eye pillows).

Liz and the other yoga instructors at Advanced Health Massage and Yoga have helped me find a new way of stretching and relaxing that has changed my life! I'm a 51 year old, male runner with ridiculously tight hamstrings, hips, and IT bands like every other older (male and female) runner I know. After a stress fracture side-lined me for 6 months, my physical therapist told me that if I wanted to run for years to come with minimal or no injuries, that I would need to do yoga. My PT warned me against impersonal gyms, killer to follow DVD's, and large centers. I would need specialized, hands-on training from a smaller, more patient studio. Liz, and the other instructors at Advanced, have been perfect for my needs, and the strength and flexibility I've seen in just three months has already helped me lower my 5K race times and I sleep and wake up more comfortably. They mix just the right amount of meditation and stretching in a quiet and calming atmosphere. It was also hard to beat their $20 for 20 days new member special. I went 8 times over the 20 days for only $20! Of course by then I was ready to sign up for the 10x card which makes the prices of a session only $12.00 Again, hard to beat. Prior to opening her center, Liz worked for several years as a massage therapist in a local chiropractic practice and offers shiatsu and cranio facial massage, and what I would term sports therapeutic massage. Lots of stretching out and aligning my body correctly, and solving issues with areas that are just chronically sore and bowed in from stress, like my shoulders and neck. And since Liz knows me from yoga class, she has real insight into my needs and issues. I would highly recommend you check out Advanced Heath Massage and Yoga if you are in the greater Billerica area. Also check out their Facebook page, that's actually how I decided on this yoga center. The comments there gave off a really pleasant vibe.

As we walked in we were greeted with 3 flights of stairs before getting to the entrance. We love a little workout before moving lol. Upon entrance into the studio I immediately felt at home. I could definitely see myself hanging out at this studio if I lived in Boston. They have a retail space, lounge area, changing area, locker area, area with information about each instructor, and 2 studio rooms. The studio seemed as diverse as Boston is with a handful of POC in the studio while I was there. They have high ceilings, exposed brick and wood floors --it's really a vibe. They have ample amounts of props and class formats including yin, heated yoga and Pilates fusion. We enjoyed our yin class it was just a bit packed so you constantly had to watch where you were putting your arm. Overall I would recommend, it's a beautiful space. And a plus you can get dessert from the many bakeries that are within minutes of the yoga studio.

I'm not flexible by any means but I'm still able to get a lot out of the sessions and leave feeling much more relaxed and "freed" than when I came in. I grabbed a postcard with the intention of contacting Stephanie, and I am so glad I did! It became clear during our first phone conversation that Stephanie is on an authentic mission to bring the topics of addiction and recovery out from under the veils of shame and secrecy, so that true healing can occur through honest and open exploration of these difficult and prickly hurdles that so many of us are trying to navigate. Stephanie presented her "Building Health In Recovery" workshop at my studio in June, which I attended. The workshop was fantastic! Stephanie's down to earth, non-judgmental and supportive nature made it very easy for the workshop participants to open up throughout the workshop. Her knowledge on the topics of addiction and recovery is vast, but her way of sharing information made it all very accessible and non-threatening. Stephanie tells it like it is, which is a refreshing approach around topics that many tend to shy away from. We all learned a lot about the stages of addiction and recovery, as well as many invaluable ways that Yoga and nutrition can help urge us along our path to total health in Mind, Body & Spirit. By the end of the workshop, there was a real sense of community forming among the participants. The forum had offered a safe place for all of us to share, learn, and start developing more healthy and positive approaches to our struggles regardless of where we all were within the stages of these struggles. She knows exactly how to adjust your posture and grab the right props for the ultimate stretch! Slow Burn with Elizabeth. This class pushed me and made me sweat, it was awesome! It was the perfect balance and end to a week of an amazing journey of trying many classes. Elizabeth's kind, nurturing and encouraging style was a perfect blend Oh! And i don't want to forget to say that the studio is beautiful- the sunlight coming in during your practice is perfection. The props are abundant and like no others i have seen.
