If I could give Energy Barre 10 stars, I would. The instructors are all excellent. I have yet to take a class I didn't enjoy. The environment is supportive and has good energy. The prices are also very fair compared to competitors. I also really like that equipment is mostly set up for us when we walk into the room. It's a small gesture that makes a big difference. I love it here!! The classes are incredible and are held throughout the entire day (~515am-730/8pm). My favorite classes are the ones that are in a heated room. The instructors are wonderful and encourage you to go at your own pace (which I appreciate since I'm just starting to workout again)! If you're thinking of trying this place out- do it. Just attended a virtual class with Kelli called "Livestream Cardio Dance." Really wonderful instruction and selection of music. Kelli ended up not being able to pick which songs to play so we ended up going 15 minutes over, but absolutely no complaints here! She brought energy the whole time and provided good alternative movements if you couldn't do jumping jacks or other hopping. Positive and encouraging instruction. Definitely recommend! If I lived closer to the studio (even in the same state) I would 100% be a regular here for this Friday afternoon pump-up class. Great way to start the weekend! read more

The Energy Barre is hands down the best Barre studio on the north shore. I have been taking Barre classes since 2010 and I loved it so much that I became an instructor. Part of my training was to try all the barre studios in the area so I have experienced many of them. Im a huge fan of Julianna. She never disappoints. She delivers an amazing workout and she fits so much into the class. She is infectiously enthusiastic and doesn't let you waste one minute. Her classes are very challenging but fun and no matter how in shape you are, you will still be sore the next day. All of the Beverly instructors that Ive had for classes have been fun and I have had only great experiences. You will never get bored. The women are super supportive and friendly including the clients. The studio is just lovely and you feel right at home. read more

I found The Energy Barre through the Mind and Body app. I have ClassPass and one day I couldn't find any classes near me, within the time range I was looking for and the type of workout I wanted, so I logged into Mind and Body and searched for studios around me and that's when I found The Energy Barre. Right in the middle of Stoneham on the 4th floor is this bright, airy, positive and friendly studio! I am so happy to have found this barre studio. I've taken barre many times and this is by far the best workout I've had. So far I've taken EB Barre and Abs Back Express classes and am looking forward to EB Burn! The workouts are challenging yet exciting because the instructors have amazing energy and they are always super encouraging. Signing up for a class is easy, you can click through their website and be directed to their schedule and sign up with ease. I'm not a Mom but I think it's so awesome that EB offers free childcare so Moms can workout with peace of mind. If you are in the Medford/Winchester/Stoneham/Malden/Melrose area this studio is definitely worth checking out. There is always parking in Stoheham (there's a lot across the street and ample street parking) and in the mornings it's the opposite of traffic. The Energy Barre is not part of ClassPass but that's not stopping me from attending. I always look forward to my next class! read more

Where do I begin with how much I love EB?! First, the studio is amazing. It's in a bright and airy fourth floor loft in Stoneham center. There is a free parking lot across the street. The studio is warm and inviting and so are the instructors. They are all great, but I especially love taking class with Liz M, Liz B, Julianna, and Stephanie. There are classes throughout the day from early morning to late evening, which is hard to find at other studios. The instructors at EB play popular music and they are very motivating. They focus a lot on proper body alignment and breathing which I think is very important. Each instructor's class is different as they add their personal style. I have done barre at many other locations including Pure Barre and other privately owned studios, and EB is by FAR the most challenging. I have seen great results! read more

The first time I walked into EB in Stoneham at 6am on a Saturday I felt like I never ever wanted to leave. I'd exchanged a few emails with some questions about the class I was signed up for beforehand, and had been impressed with the fast and friendly responses I'd gotten. So I drove out to Stoneham (from Brookline -- because I LOVE the fact they have an early Saturday class; they're really hard to find in the city and as someone who works 6 days a week, I still want to get my morning workout in on Saturdays), got a little turned around but quickly found the free parking lot right next door, and hopped on the elevator up to the 4th floor. The space is gorgeous. There's this huge, cozy, warm waiting room with changing rooms and some pleasantly (read: not too in your face) displayed retail and chairs and everything. A huge rug. There are motivational/feel good posters all over the place -- seriously I would pay to just hang out and drink a cup of coffee I brewed in my own apartment in this space. There's some exposed beam work and big windows and it feels so amazingly New England and chic I LOVE it. Oh, sorry -- I haven't even gotten to the workout yet. So I'll be honest, I've only done the EB Matte Remix, but I loved it and how solid the class is only says great things about the other classes. The Matte Remix class is without the barre, with a couple cardio bursts intermixed in -- which is nice, helps you feel awake and energized and get your heart rate up just enough to keep the push going. This morning's class was some cardio, a bunch of lunges, some glute/ham work lying down (my favorite kind), some core work. Beth teaches the Saturday morning class and she's super friendly, super sweet, and is really really great at working the room, demoing/doing the class along with you -- and major props to the fact she manages to do the class AND call out instructions and cues AND keep you motivated. I can barely do one of those things at a time, but she's a ball of energy that it does it all. read more

I usually go to the one in Beverly but I did try this studio a few weeks ago and I had an awesome time! The workout was new and the instructor was so motivating! Every class I have taken I come out feeling so good and motivated. Before walking in, I expected to feel a little intimidated since I have never been to a Barre class before, but felt completely at ease when Kristin Cronin welcomed me which such a positive and friendly attitude. You ladies change others' outlook on life with all of the wonderful motivational quotes on the wall, quaint, inviting atmosphere, and encouraging workouts! Kristin was so talented, upbeat and fun during my 55 minute class, and I cannot wait to return. The music was modern and a total blast! I left the class feeling taller and leaner, and more confident. Thanks to you, I have a few exercises I can bring to my students to help them "re-set" their day on a positive note and recall for years to come. I am writing this review based on a few different things. Customer service, studio cleanliness, and Tuesday night dance cardio. I have been meaning to write a review but I secretly didn't want to so I wouldn't end up on the waiting list for a class. Tonight's class was hands down the best aerobics/cardio class I've ever been to. The instructor Brianne is so fun. Not once did I find myself checking for a clock or want the class to end. For customer service, some of my classes had expired because I didn't use them in time. The person who responded to me was so nice and willing to re-activate. Where do I begin with how awesome this place is!!! It truly is the best of the best! I finally tried this place after quite some time at a local competitor and not seeing results and all I have to say is no way would I ever go back! The Energy Barre has so much to offer - not just silver balls and bands like other barre studios. The Energy Barre has different classes with excellent instructors who keep it fun and never the same repetitive class. The Energy Barre uses the silver balls and bands but they also use blocks, rings, and those purple gliders, which ultimately makes your workout that much harder! And the biggest plus for me is this place ALWAYS incorporates a new exercise or a new class so it's never the same routine. I have been attending classes at The Energy Barre for almost a year now. It has changed the way I look at exercise classes. The barre classes are difficult but nothing to be afraid of. The women in classes range from teenagers to older moms and everyone is shaped differently. I never feel intimidated because even with a rotator cuff problem, the instructors are able to modify the exercises so that I can participate. The Stoneham location is brand new and offers a TON of classes throughout the day. I usually go to the Reading location because they offer free child care there and I'm able to take a class while my toddlers are having a blast in the room next door. The owner, Julianna is AMAZING. I can't say enough great things about her. She is energetic, supportive, and inspirational every single day. She has worked extremely hard to create such a fantastic studio and I'm very proud of her. All of the instructors that she's hired are great at what they do and keep you working hard. My favorite instructor is Liz M. because I know I'll be sore for at least two days after her class and I love it. Her music mixes are pretty awesome too :) I would strongly recommend trying a class here. They have a 3 for $27 special for new students. The most standard classes are EB Barre and EB Blend for a full body toning. They also offer cardio classes and classes that target specific areas of the body as well. It doesn't matter which class or instructor you try though because I guarantee you'll love them all! read more

I signed up for my first class online and my Living Social voucher did not list that the studio is actually in a studio with a different name. Anyways I kept driving around Reading, could not find Energy Barre (since it was not marked with any sign). I ended up being too late to attend the class. I kindly emailed them to ask to be credited that class back since I was unable to find the place and they refused - they said there are no exceptions if you don't give a 24 hr cancellation after reserving online. I've been meaning to write this review for several months now. I love The Energy Barre. I had been out of the fitness game for quite a while when I joined EB and now I would characterize myself as active. I've been going pretty regularly for about 7 months. The instructors are fun and they really want you to succeed! The vibe is really positive and supportive, but challenging at the same time. Also, the style of exercise is great for people like me who want to work hard, but are not in great shape or have limitations. It's all done on your own mat, space on the floor, or spot at the barre, so you can move at your own pace, take a break, or modify without feeling like you are getting in someone's way. I also really feel like the owner Julianna (and all the EB Girls) care about us. They do so many things to make sure we are challenged, have fun, and focus on our health (even outside of barre classes). For example, they run challenges, are active on social media, and have lots of special classes and events to make things fun and encourage a community atmosphere. The challenges usually involve out-of-studio goals too like walking and tracking steps. For me, this has been awesome because it's encouraging me to walk and jog more! Maybe I've just become a cynic, but it feels amazing to know that they care about my overall health and not just the part I pay them for! Similarly, sometimes the special classes are free or they give away free classes as part of a challenge or contest. It's awesome to give your money to a place that appreciates you enough to give you a little thank you gift here and there! There is a lot of parking in the area and plenty of bathrooms and changing areas. The studio is open before most classes so if you are running from work and need to change you don't have to worry that the doors are locked until 5 minutes before class like some small studios. There are a lot of classes on the schedule so you can always fit some into your week. They also offer free childcare during certain classes if you have little ones! All the instructors are great, but I suggest trying a bunch of them out to see which ones you gel best with. Everyone has their favorites for all sorts of reasons, but I can honestly say I've liked every instructor I've taken. read more

I've only taken a few classes here, but I absolutely LOVE them! For starters, the instructors are incredibly professional and talented at what they do. The studio offers a variety of classes and each class I took was a little different. I've tried several other barre studio's in the area, and as a certified group fitness and pilates instructor myself, I would recommend The Energy Barre over anywhere else. Another bonus is they have a bunch of childcare available! This studio keeps things fresh, fun and they offer a fabulously welcoming environment. Amazing, life changing, and one of my favorite places to be. I've moved a lot, and done barre or Pilates everywhere I went, and energy barre is definitely the best of the best-- the classes are challenging, always changing, full of modifications for varying experience levels, and so well planned out. If I had to choose my top classes, it's definitely Liz's matte class, and any of Julianna's classes-- I always leave amazed that I made it through and a little sore but invigorated! The northshore has a lot of options to choose from, and I've tried them all, and EB is definitely the best. (If you're in the south shore try Secret Physique!) The Energy Barre has by far the best atmosphere I've ever seen in a gym. And I've belonged to plenty of studios and gyms. This is by far my favorite. The instructors and owner always have a smile on their face there is never a sense of cliquey-ness that we sometimes see. They'll get to know your name, make you feel a part of the EBqueens family. I'm very happy to be a part of the Energy Barre and I always look forward to going! I'm so thankful for what they do for us. I can't say enough about how wonderful this barre studio is and all of the amazing instructors, starting with the owner Julianna. My mom dragged me to my first class a year and a half ago and I've been hooked ever since! I was nervous at first since I have no real flexibility or dance skills but I quickly learned that neither are necessary for barre, especially with the fantastic EB instructors carefully demonstrating and teaching every move and always including modifications when necessary. I've continued classes while pregnant and because of the carefully demonstrated modifications have found it to be the one exercise I can stick to while my body grows and changes without fear of causing injury to myself or the baby. I've also been taking the EB Mama series, which is just a wonderful specialty class geared just towards expecting and new moms. In terms of the cancellation policy mentioned in another review - every single studio in the area has the exact same 24 hour policy, which not only ensures accountability on the client's part but also spares other clients from missing class due to no-shows, etc. That being said, I know of instances where life has really gotten in the way and they have been more than accommodating in applying the policy. Julianna is one of the most positive and compassionate people I've met (not to mention a clear inspiration and strong supporter to so many of us in reaching fitness and personal goals) and I always leave her classes ready to tackle the day ahead. Obviously I can't say enough good things about The Energy Barre so you should treat yourself and take a class! read more

I don't even know where to start when it comes to singing the praises of The Energy Barre and all the amazing women who teach and go there.... EB is the only place I have ever found that has kept me coming back and working out for more than a few months; I have been taking 3-5 classes per week consistently since the studio opened over a year ago (up to 8 classes in one week). It is safe to say I am addicted to the muscle-shaking workouts and the positivity that emanates from everyone and everything in the studios. I hate being away from classes for more than a day or two and have started bringing supplies on trips with me to hold me over when I can't get to EB. I could go on for chapters, but i am trying to keep this short and not ramble (sorry in advance!) so I will finish with the owner and instructors... These women are amazing! They are so strong - inside and out - and set such an amazing example for a healthy lifestyle. They are always available to talk through anything - concerns, successes, fitness or diet advice, etc - and are incredibly helpful and just all around inspirational. I have never been a super healthy person (I know the right things to do but lack follow-through and focus) but EB has truly changed my outlook on health and fitness. They don't promote "diets" but are very motivating with whole-body health and wellness in daily conversation, Facebook posts, weekly mantras, class intentions, 7 week intensive challenges, etc. When I wanted to lose 40 pounds for my wedding, Julianna and the others helped guide me to do what I needed to do to get there... And I did!!! I love my wedding photos and I honestly feel like I owe it all to EB and their Barre Beautiful Bride program! Now that I have my barre, blend, and matte class routine firmly in place, I am going to add burn classes to help up my cardio (EB instructors are very clear that cardio is important if your goal is weight-loss) and continue to follow the healthy-eating tips to continue to create new healthy habits for my husband and I. I would (and do) recommend EB for all women looking for a killer workout that makes you feel confident and keeps you coming back! There is a reason why this studio has nothing but positive reviews - it is honestly the best workout, in the most beautiful atmosphere with most importantly the most POSITIVE instructors that you will ever meet. This studio is truly a community of wonderful women supporting and cheering each other on. I have been going since it opened on day one and over the years that energy has not changed despite the studio exploding to three locations and so many different types of classes. I love it here! The studio is beautiful, with inspirational quotes and photos along the wall motivating you during your workout. Most of the instructors I've encountered I really love, though Liz M, Julianna (the owner), Katie, and Jessica are some of my favorites. All of them bring such positive energy to their classes that I really look forward to coming to workout. I prefer their matte/barre classes to EB Burn, which is similar to a cardio boot camp. It's a pretty good class, I just wish there was some more variety (maybe with weights, ropes, etc). read more

I cannot say enough good things about this studio, the instructors and the clients. I started going about a month ago and was extremely nervous to try it but am glad I did. From the moment I walked in the door, I felt welcomed. Everyone is so friendly and genuine. I have taken several classes with both Vanessa and Katelyn at the Beverly studio and also a Jenn T's class. It's clear that they are passionate about what they do and that they want to see everyone do their best and not give up. There are times during sets where I don't think I can keep going but they manage to make you not give up and make it so you keep going "YES YOU CAN". It's also huge that during class I don't look at the clock to see when it'll be over. I'm always proud and a little disappointed when class is over, that's a first for me and a statement of how much I enjoy it :) Looking forward to more classes and going even more outside of my comfort zone (possibly Hot Barre and Yoga in the future). I have been coming to the Energy Barre for over a year now and I love it. The classes are challenging and there is a style for any interest. I travel frequently and have tried to find the same experience when I am away and nothing compares. The women who run the studio and all of the instructors truly care for each client as an individual both body and mind. The inspirational messaging and the focus on being healthy and happy physically and mentally really shines through. This is a studio that welcomes all, from beginner to expert. I love The Energy Barre! I've gone to both the Medford and Stoneham locations, and both are amazing. This place is run and taught by a really wonderful group of women.
