I enjoy visiting this gym every time I visit my in-laws in Melrose. Here's why: 1. Well maintained with fancy equipment. I enjoy tracking my heart rate and making sure I am trying to reach my max in every workout. If you are a first timer, it takes a little bit more time to customize your heart rate to your reader, but well worth it! 2. Awesome instructors like Sue and Thom! They motivated me and since I feel like I am always new, they gave me extra attention to make sure I was doing the exercises right and made me feel welcome! 3. There is a gym you can use in addition to the classes, which I never took advantage off, but it had cardio and strength machines. My only complaint is that the price of $25-30 per class can be steep! That pass is not really a day pass and covers one class only. It is best to take advantage of deals, like they have an awesome NY deal, or ClassPass. Overall, a great gym and you should try it for yourself, especially if you live in Melrose! read more

I had a very bad experience at fit life, Winchester. I am disappointed. This was very near where I live and conveniently located. I did not have much interaction with anyone other than my personal trainer. Therefore, my experience may be different from yours. Reese, The trainer changed the schedule on me unilaterally. When I asked why he said I told you during the last session (true) that my schedule is going to change "you are my newest client, so I need you to adjust to the days /times available after I have scheduled all my other clients". Would never have signed on with him him had I known this is how he operates. Reese expects his clients to be available when it is convenient for him. He did not get in touch with me till late in the evening on Sunday 7.00 pm when he sent me a text message (after I reminded him) to determine the schedule for Monday. I consider this to be extremely inconsiderate. Please was never in his dictionary and everything was "it has to be these days" or "YOU CANNOT CALL ME AFTER 10 PM". I only called because of how late he was with publishing his new schedule. All in all a bad experience that left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I love FLS! Tuesday night mat Pilates class with Jennifer is becoming a very good habit for me. I'm a runner, and I spent the last six months prepping for a half-marathon, so most of my workout time was spent logging my miles or running to the gym for a quick cross-training session. When I returned after those six months away from the studio, Jenine (the owner) recognized me on sight, gave me a huge hug, and asked how I was doing. What a sweetie! The online appointment system is convenient, there's plenty of parking, and the classes aren't very expensive when you consider that this is metro Boston. (Picking up a pass for 10 or 20 classes saves you even more.) I've taken Spin here as well, and every instructor I've had for a class has been helpful, supportive, and motivational without being scary. Highly recommended! read more

I'm am a HUGE fan of Fit Lifestyles classes. I've been coming for about 3 months now and it has opened my eyes to group fitness classes. I do cardio on my own but adding this into my workout regimen has been a great addition because my midsection has toned up and tightened up. Just like every workout class you attend, the instructors vary. My favorites is Stephanie. I haven't tried any others yet, but I've had Steph every time time and chose to stick with her. Why change a good thing when you have it! She practices what she preaches for training and she's one tough cookie! You'd be surprised how worked up aka sweaty you get during her sessions. If you aren't then you're probably not challenging yourself enough. I've done her TRX & Spinning classes. AWESOME for both! Give them a try! You won't be sorry. FLS is the best studio around! My son goes to Jenine at FLS for private training sessions. He's been going since he was a senior at MHS and while in college. He says Jenine works him harder than anyone ever has and he loves the results he has seen. I've been attending the Barre classes lately and have been loving them! Also, love the spin classes. Such a clean facility, and the people couldn't be nicer - both the trainers and the members. The trainers know their stuff! It is the only studio for me, and the friends I've made at this studio will hopefully last a life time. I've been to 6 or 7 yoga classes in the past couple weeks with different instructors. Enjoying it because I have so much energy when I leave! I'm a beginner and sometimes the all level classes are tough to follow because the instructor isn't always demonstrating...for good reason because they walk around and check everyone's form. Fit Life Melrose is exactly the kind of gym I was looking for. I had been searching for a place that offers a wide variety of classes and Fit Life has it all--yoga, pilates, HIIT, barre, spin, etc. I've tried the first three and can say they all had fabulous instructors. The equipment and amenities are also top-notch. There's a free parking lot on site, and if it fills up you can usually find free street parking all around the area pretty easily. The only thing that held me back from signing up sooner was that the pricing is a bit high IMHO and their pricing structure is a little complex, but you get to try your first class for free and I found a Groupon for the yoga studio which let me get a real feel for whether I like the place before committing (absolutely no issues using the Groupon, by the way). I'm happy to report that I've loved every class I've tried so far, the customer service has been excellent, and everyone talks about what a great community this place is. I hope to be coming here for a long time (just have to work their fees into my budget somehow, ha). read more

Just attended my first FitLife cycle class at the Winchester location. I LOVED it and I do not like cycling in general. The instructor Jeanine was excellent, explained things and there is an integrated tech system that allows you to watch your input/performance on a large screen as you cycle, which is customized to each client's goals/ability. This is by far one of the best places to work out as well as meet some fantastic friends. If you are looking for a place to work out that is small, yet has an array of classes, FLS is for you. ALL the staff are certified instructors from recognized organizations, not internet certificates, which is not something you can say about many places. It is a great community business that strives to give back. Jenine and her staff ensure that everyone is working out safely. I will never be able to express how much FLS has helped me and the gratitude I have to their staff. I am happier healthier, in better shape, pain free and more knowledgeable then I ever would of been going somewhere else. In 2007 I has injured my back resulting in a herniated disc at L4/L5. The next three years consisted of back pain that never fully resolved. I had always worked out but I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong... Then I met Jenine and FLS. I took a free mat pilates class and then started private sessions and more group classes. She is the most knowledgeable person I have ever encountered in the field (I had worked for a few gyms all through college). Since I started 3 years ago I can count on one hand the number of times I have had back pain. That alone makes me so happy, never mind the physical results I have seen are a very very nice perk! The staff and atmosphere is very inviting with people from all ages and skill levels. The classes are all amazing(Spinning, Pilates mat and reformer, Rowing, TRX, Piloxing, Zumba, boot camps etc)!!! I have gone to seminars Healthier Eating, and taken part in the Fight for Air climb and the Pedal to Cure Cancer. If you are looking for something new to try check them out. Bought 2 Groupons from this place and I had trouble booking classes with one of them online so I tried contacting the gym. It was a major struggle to get a call back, no one ever even answers the phone, let alone call you back. After weeks someone finally left me a voicemail to help me and when I called her back she never contacted me again. They need a new system or more staff to answer the gym phone. It was very disorganized and that's not how you run a business when people paid for classes and need help scheduling. Probably would've recommended it to friends and came back myself because the first class I took was a decent workout but after this I will not be back. Good thing Groupon has great customer care service and fully refunded me my money. read more

FLS is a unique fitness studio. I have never worked out at a facility in which I am excited to get there and start a class or training. This for me is very unlike me! I would have to be forced to go to other gyms in the past. Sometimes I will even take a class in morning then again at night! There are many reasons I praise this facility, they have had such a large impact in my life- 3 stand outs is that I know with any personal training or group class I am receiving high quality training from the instructors who put so much emphasis on form, proper technique and my well-being. They also promote natural and organic wellbeing which I love and have learned so much about proper nutrition and organics from the studios informal speaker nights. The third stand out is the people who come to this studio. They do not judge or make you feel inadequate; they are all welcoming and supportive. We all have goals, they just might be different, either way, they always make you feel like 'you are in it together' which gives you that little push to get the work out finished, or at least for me it does! Plus a giant help for me is sign up is appointment based, I will find any reason/million reasons why I procrastinated in working out. With going into the system and scheduling appointments, it then means, I have to be there, I have an appointment. This is an AMAZING fitness studio. The owners are so passionate about what they do and about helping people become their healthiest and most fit. They do so much above and beyond ... I have attended free seminars at the studio for example hosted by the owner. The owners are very well educated. Since becoming a member I have changed the way I eat and even think about food, I have met fitness goals that I never thought possible. When I started at FitLifestyle Studios nearly 2 years ago I had just had my third child and I was 30 lbs overweight, unhappy with my body image, but unfortunately, an inveterate gym-hater. FLS was near my home and had child care so I was willing to give it a try. Fast forward to 2 years later - I lost 25 lbs, fell in love with Spinning classes (I'm a junkie now!), learned and incorporated many important health changes and met a wonderful and warm crowd of people who I truly enjoy working out with. Jenine Wright, the owner, is an outstanding instructor and educator. She is passionately commited to fitness, healthy (natural) eating and to her clients. The gym is lovely and clean.
