This place is AMAZINGLY AFFORADABLE! I have a gel addiction and must get my nails done at least once every week/ two weeks. The prices here are very decent for a place in Manhattan and will allow me to splurge on my gel addiction without feeling too guilty. When I walked in I was greeted and seated  quickly. There is a wide selection of colors and the workers were very helpful in finding the color I wanted.  Picked a mint color for the warm spring weather! I had a women named Mary to do my nails (heard she was great from all the yelp reviews). It was quick, efficient, and beautiful! She shaped my nails really nicely. I had chipped nails here and there, but wow, she definitely made them looked perfect without sacrificing the length. I don't like short nails, and other salons usually make my nails super short to accommodate the chipped nails.  And there's a mini shoulder MASSAGE! I think it comes with the gel manicure. I will definitely be coming back to try the mani/pedi package. Meh. Is there a stronger word for meh? Double-meh? Nothing wrong with this place, but definitely nothing special. I'm a guy who likes a bargain and kept reading this was one of the best, least expensive nail shops in the village. It was neither. Price was 35 plus tax and tip for mani-pedi, which is the same price I noticed at 3 other salons on the walk home. Very average among the non-luxury type salons. My technician was evidently the manager, and was extremely distracted by dealing with all other customers entering the store. Small wonder: the place was already full and she was maximizing how to keep the next customers arranged, placated, or returning, kind of like an air traffic controller. Maybe that's why she rushed my service like it was past closing time (it wasn't: 3:00 in the afternoon). As a guy, I already consider mani-pedi's an occasional luxury, something I should do myself but enjoy as an indulgence. So my nails were already short and shaped, and toenails really needed almost no filing either. Also, dear reader, I'm not a guy who wears polish, so that's a big part of the whole experience I don't consume. Maybe some guys come in with tree climbing toenails and gardener's dirty nails? Dunno. I definitely don't. It's basically about the cuticle removal, a little callous removal, and a moment of massage. My tech/manager did race through all those motions, but I felt like she was cooking a basic busy weeknight dinner and watching her favorite soap opera at the same time. No attentiveness whatsoever. Cuticles flecks clipped willy-nilly, some nipped close, some left sticking out like stray antennae. A cursory swipe of the pumice on my soles, as her eyes rolled around the room, never once watching what she was doing - pure rote. And quick. The massage was stingiest of all. I don't expect the 10 minute kind you pay extra for. But it was like the cost of the lotion came out of her salary, drop by drop. And she basically just swiped it on the way most people barely apply sunblock. Did she put (a little) lotion on my legs? Yep. Was it a massage? Nope. More like quickly basting a turkey before suddenly smiling and saying brightly, "Finish!" With no polish involved I already take a fraction of the time a woman requires. Without needing a hacksaw and rasp to get the shape right on my basically already short shaped nails, ditto. So did it feel like an indulgent treat? Nope. No sins committed. No special price. Nothing special. Meh indeed. The next time I feel like treating myself, I hope I can remember that at least at Yo Yo Spa, this ain't it. read more

This place is a hidden gem. I have been going for a year now and have a great experience 90% of the time. I find their prices are great and their work matches. They also have a rewards program. There is never a long wait and everyone is pleasant and puts effort into every mani or pedi. My most recent iffy experience was when the nail tech filed all the length of my nails off when I told her multiple times not to cut them. I was frustrated because I like to keep my nails long. Stumbled on this nail salon after reading yelp reviews. I was looking for an inexpensive salon in the area I was in and this popped up. If you're looking for a place thats going to roll out the red carpet for you this is not it. They're about their business and that means doing the job with the intention of getting you outta there quickly. I got a mani/pedi for $26.50 which was not the best job I've had but definitely not the worse ( and I'm picky). Pros: -they are open until 9pm -they have a great nail polish selection -they're fast -they're clean -inexpensive Con: -place seems like a factory -nail techs not personable - pedicure/mani was rushed I think we all know when we've had a phenomenal nail job and some of us expect different things. The location is super convenient as it is right by the 1,2, and a short walk from the E/F trains. They had so many OPI and Essie nail polish choices which I was really excited about! Although it's really busy, I was seated in about 10 minutes. The technician was superb and made sure everything was going smooth. She asked if the water temperature for the pedi was ok, asked if the shape of my nails was done the way I wanted, so on and so forth. Everyone was really friendly and my nails look great! I had my first real experience of mani and pedi at yo yo spa. Don't get me wrong- I've had mani and pedi done before but nowhere comes close to how they do it here. I made an appointment through Yelp by messaging with the owner. She replied so promptly and even had a spot for me to come in that night! I started with the pedicure which took about 20-30 min. It was very relaxing. After my pedi, the technician worked on my nails. She was very thorough and did a great job with the manicure. The color I chose is a bit difficult if not done properly and can leave streaks. But she did a clean job and I was impressed! The nail salon itself is kept very clean and they do have a ton of color choices to choose from. Prices are VERY reasonable for NYC and they have a lot of technicians. I didn't feel rushed at all and everyone was nice. I suggest making a reservation because they get really busy. read more

The final straw and why I am writing this review is b/c the receptionist accused me of taking their slippers. Mind you, I had on the sandals I arrived in. A friend recommended this salon to me as I was in the neighborhood and had some time to kill before my next appointment. I will be forever grateful to her. The mani/pedi was well priced and lasted an unbelievably long time. I asked for the weekly nail polish, which they didn't have -- but apparently that's because they don't need it. With regular polish the mani lasted almost two weeks! I usually it can't get more than five days out of a regular mani. Not your typical unwelcoming, unfriendly nail salon. They were so sweet from the moment I walked in. I had to get my nails done last minute for an event & was frantically searching for a place that will take me before closing. I walked in, I told them I needed to get them done tonight. I don't wanna drop names but this was THE MOST painful f'in experience ever! - Desperate to get a pedicure before work, I walked into this nail salon, and yes, they got the job done BUT my 2 big toes are still throbbing after 16 hours. The technician was VERY rough on pushing the cuticles and now I have 2 deep cuts on my nail bed and it is very painful. I'm wearing closed shoes so I don't get an infection which really defeated the purpose of my visit. They really should have some sort of training or revisit their technique within the salon to make sure this does not happen. It is not safe or sanitary! read more

Went last night for an acrylic fill and gel polish change. I totally recommend Mary. She is an angel sent from heaven above. She knew to make my nails thin, I didn't even ask her to file them down or make them thinner, she knew exactly what I needed! The best part is that I showed up at 6:55 and Mary was off at 7:30, she stayed later for me to make sure everything was perfect. She didn't rush or do a terrible job, she was incredibly meticulous.
