Took them to this laundromat to dry and they cited an unpublished "policy" they need to charge $20 to use the dryer because we didn't wash the clothes there. I was very impressed with how clean this place was. There is someone constantly walking around mopping and wiping down the machines. Other than that, it is exactly what you would expect from a laundromat. The washers wash and the dryers dry. I've been going to yo-yo coin laundry since I moved to the neighborhood 2 years ago. Unfortunately, I will no longer be a customer because they constantly OVERCHARGE for drop-off service. When I first started going here the rates were affordable and they did a good job. The workers are also really friendly. But recently every time I drop off clothes, the owner will change the price at pick it up. They started charging $5 for same day pick-up but they don't always charge it. They also tack on fees for towels, sheets, etc. The worst part is they don't have any signage explaining their arbitrary fee system and the owner is so rude. So unless you want to be surprised by additional fees at pick-up, find another place! read more

Prices are way too high and keep going up, and recently they lowered the dry time you get from 10 to 8 minutes.

Pretty expensive but clean, safe, and there are always machines available. You can get your coins from the front desk but they only accepts 5 and 10 dollar bills. read more

My works washing machine has been out of service for the last week and they have been amazing with their laundry drop off service! I have gotten a routine now where I drop off the laundry at night and pick it up in the morning and its always ready bright and early.  Also the gentleman and the ladies up front are super nice! They did amazing same day laundry service My white sheets weren't as clean as when I usually do them , but in a pinch when I didn't have Time , it was a lifesaver and the allow later pickup . My family and I have been doing our laundry at yo-yo for over 20 years once a week. Sadly we will no longer be doing so. Ever since new owners took over the prices have been increasing constantly. At first we understood because we know the area is changing and getting expensive. But in the last 3 months they have increased their prices and lowered the time it takes to dry. I have been using this establishment for 15yrs. 0 stars for the current owners 0 Stars for their exponential prices and lack of upkeep on their machines. 5 stars for the two women that wash fold and show up every day. The original owners were so pro-neighborhood and family oriented. They had games and rides for children and game machines. I have no children but I do remember the happy voices of playfulness. BEFORE there was love, kindness and a palpable tenderness for the community. Now, It is run down. Many of the machines are out of order and 10x the price and you still have to use quarters even if it's a $9 wash. If anything goes wrong the owners pretend like they don't understand you.. The new owners have a very different philosophy towards business.. What is good about this business is the two very wonderful women who do the wash and fold. So please do yourself a favor. Drop off your laundry ( it will costs less than if you did it yourself) then TIP generously and specifically to those two lovely ladies that present your clothing as gifts. Always very clean inside. Sometimes it's rather busy but there have always been enough machines available. No music, two TVs (usually one is Spanish one is English). They will break large bills if needed. Other tha the top loader washers the machines are rarely out of service. Pro-tip: Bring a paper products if you need to rinse your soapy hands off or use the bathroom as they do not provide this. read more

Recently used their drop-off laundry service and I'm a fan! No matter how hard I try I can never get my towels that soft or folded that perfectly. It cost me approx $40 which I don't think was too bad considering the amount of towels, sheets and blankets I dropped off. Props to the young guy who works there behind the counter. Such a nice kid! I also wanted to thank them for letting me keep my laundry there almost a month. I know, I know.... This review is only for the wash & fold service. I sometimes get a little overwhelmed and get behind on my laundry. When that happens, I occasionally indulge in wash & fold service. The wash & fold service at Yo-Yo is outstanding. Drop your clothes off in the morning (made easy by the parking lot in the front) & by 5 pm you pick up everything, perfectly folded, sorted, and stacked in one nice neat plastic bag. Every pair of socks sorted perfectly & folded into neat balls. It's heaven. I recently made the mistake of cheating on Yo-Yo with a cheaper service, and was very disappointed. Never again. The drop off service costs about $1/pound (cash only), which for me means that when things get out of control, I spend about $30-$40 for laundry (about 3 weeks worth). I will throw in an extra star for the Blue Bunny ice cream vending machine. I wonder about the sign in the front door advertising they accept Link Cards. This has to be the cheapest laundromat EVER. Not to mention super clean. There was a lady out there cleaning every machine and the floor the whole 2 1/2 hours I was there. There's a parking lot too. Great laundromat with a TON of plants! The younger guy that is there in the evenings is incredibly nice and helpful; they sell laundry bags, detergent...really everything you could need if you forget it. However, there is a family dollar steps away, which I have taken advantage of when I run out of fabric softener. The prices seem average for a laundromat, and nothing unpleasant has ever occurred there, possibly because I am not the kind of person who writes 'LAWYER' on a piece of paper and shoves it into the face of an attendant over a dispute about laundry (see below reviews). I've used their wash and fold, and they do a great job! Very fast service. I didn't give five starts because every once in a while the one load washers are broken en masse, but otherwise, nice place to do your laundry if you must. OH-best part-parking out front!! read more

My bf and I go here about 1-2x a month; this is our usual place to go. Pros: Off street parking-about 6-7 spots, 12 minutes of dryer time for $0.25, various sizes & cost of washing machines avail ($2- ~$6), staff is friendly, it's always clean in there, someone is always wiping down the machines or cleaning them, snack vending machines in the back, change machine in the front. Family Dollar is 1/2 block away--so you can get soap from there OR the laundry place also sells soap/dryer sheets (It's probably a tad more $ at the laundry place? I'm not sure though.) They have nice large areas to fold your clothes. Cons: No TP or papertowel whatsoever in the bathroom-so bring your own, or drip dry. Waiting chairs are stationary-(is that a con? I'm not sure!) Dryer # 84 doesn't dry your clothes as well as the other ones, I think. FYI: and depending on whether you enjoy Spanish TV or not-- the channel ALWAYS has Spanish tv on. And there are a lot of Spanish speaking folks there--this doesn't bother me at all-even though I speak very little Spanish :) We've never used the wash and fold service. We're thrifty and we have the time after work to go and do our wash for about $16 each time~3 loads @ $4 a machine, and then $0.25/12 minutes to dry. read more

Lots of washers and dryers, I've never had an issue finding a machine. I dropped off a few winter coats to be dry cleaned here and although it took about a week, they did a great job and the prices are reasonable. I'm definitely going to continue bringing my clothes here. read more

Feel kinda lame leaving a review for a laundromat...but, it was my first laundromat experience and I was excited! This place sure was busy on a Saturday morning, I circled around the block for a couple times because I couldn't find parking in their lot. In their defense, there's someone in the parking lot directing cars. I came here because my mattress pad didn't fit in my washer...the variety of washer sizes here was handy, and the change machines were a nice touch. My only complaint was the dryer: I spent over 1 hr drying but my pad was still not dry, so I just took it home and dried it on the floor. Otherwise I thought the place was reasonably clean and everyone there looked normal & friendly. read more

Decent laundromat that is is fairly clean. A medium sized front load washer was $6, which is pretty expensive compared to other places. The clothes came out wet, which meant drying would take a lot longer. The dryers are 2 quarters for 15 minutes, then each additional quarter is an additional 10 minutes. The dryers do not get very hot, so drying the wet clothes from the washer took a lot longer than normal. read more

I only recently have resorted to going to the laundromat even though there is a shared washer and dryer just one floor below me. Laundry is one chore I'll wait to tackle (and only half-assed) until I absolutely have no more underwear or towels. That being said, it's about a month in between. This place is clean and always plenty of machines to 'take over.' I recently used the drop-off/pick-up service at $1.25/per pound. It was so worth it. Drop off before Noon and you'll get it the same day. I suggest using a laundry bag rather than a basket as they weigh the whole kit-and-caboodle. read more

I've gone to Yo-Yo on occasion over the years to wash bedding, or other large items better suited for big front-loaders and giant dryers, or when our home machine is on the fritz. Today, I had one of the best customer service experiences here that I've had anywhere in ages, and thought I'd share. I am somewhat familiar with their washing machines. I always follow the directions. For some reason, the machine I selected was not working properly. I put laundry products where they belonged, but they didn't dispense into the machine as they were supposed to. I consulted the first lady I located on duty, whose English was limited. She told me I needed to put the products directly in the machine rather in the dispensers in the top. (?) She would not refund me despite my polite request. Not happy, I ran home for more detergent, etc. while the detergent-less cycle completed. Upon my return, I asked for assistance in getting this accomplished correctly the second time. She was getting off duty, but one of the owners, a nice young man and his Aunt helped me switch to a different machine and start over again. When I returned from a quick errand a few doors down, he called me over to the front desk, and very sincerely explained that he talked to his Mom and Aunt, and he gave me $3 back for the first failed wash. He also explained and apologized that the other employee was not authorized to provide refunds. Later, as I was sitting waiting for the dryer to finish up, he spotted me and checked in to make sure everything ended up ok. I was floored by his sincerity and politeness. He genuinely cared that I left there happy, it seemed. All this at a laundromat of all places! Needless to say, I highly recommend that anybody in the neighborhood give Yo-Yo Laundromat their business. They deserve it. read more

ZERO STARS IS MORE LIKE IT!!!! During the evening, there is a Korean man who is the biggest jerk. Not too long ago, one of the machines was malfunctioning and when I stated it to the man in charge he literally told me: "I don't care." I asked for his name and he began talking to a lady in their language. After some time of not getting a response I wrote down in a piece of paper the words "Better Business Bureau" AND "LAWYER," and he automatically gave me his name and within less than five minutes another young man (family member) came to talk to me regarding the problem I had had. He told me he would give another free wash - which I appreciated - but I mentioned to him that I didn't appreciate the way in which I was treated by the other man; first off he told me he didn't care then he tells me that I don't know what is hot nor cold. Today I finished doing my laundry there and as it turns out they, purposely, don't have any water running in the bathroom, nor do they have toilet paper in it. I was told to wash my hands in the sink outside where the washers are. Needless to say, I am writing a letter to the City of Chicago center of Health and Services with the full story. I can understand if perhaps one day they are fixing the bathroom but this is about the FOURTH time there is no water, nor something to dry your hands in the bathroom. read more

This review relates to the dry-cleaning only. $4 pants / $2 shirts includes taxes. They offer next day service if you drop off your dry cleaning by 1pm for pick up after 2pm - no additional charge. I've been there 10+ times, and every time has been perfect. They also offer hem alterations for $10-$12, but I'm yet to try them out. This place is my preferred laundromat.. You're right next to Mercury Cafe. What else do you need? So they raised their prices, big deal, everyone does. I prefer dryers that aren't free, actually . Put in 4 coins, take a walk, and come back an hour later (as opposed to making one cigarette last 12 minutes before i run back in and hit the button) The place is clean, and never seen it overcrowded. Don't go in peak hours and you're fine. Parking sucks everywhere, at least they have a parking lot, albeit small. The owner seems grouchy but I'm here to do my laundry not analyze people's lives. We came in here with over 30 garbage bags of clothes & cloth items from our home. We had a house fire & everything smelled of smoke. The man & woman who ran the place were very helpful. We had our very own section because we took over so many machines. The place is constantly being cleaned by ladies walking around. The machines seemed to work just fine. They have large tables to fold clothes. We even asked for receipts of what we spent & they were happy to give it to us. We even had a ton of dry cleaning done there. Wedding dress, tux, hats, leather jackets, dresses & all. Everything came out very nice. My only issue was they put two baby pins inside my wedding dress to hold it up on the hanger. I am not sure if this is standard but I was shocked to see a needle in my dress. It however did not damage anything. Hopefully we will never need to do that much laundry in our life but if we do we will be back. read more

The young Korean man that was running the place was VERY friendly, VERY efficient, and meticulous about cleaning. It was nice to see.
