The one positive was that everything, down to the bun, tasted fresh. However, overall, the flavours just didn't work for me. There was a lot going on and the combination felt a little too busy rather than well balanced. That said, I can absolutely see why people enjoy it. The service was prompt and friendly and the area seemed clean. The price point also felt pretty reasonable for a hotdog with this many toppings. Perhaps this late night staple would hit different after a few drinks but once was enough for me. Still, I'd recommend giving it a try if you're visiting Houston, especially since it's such an iconic late night Houston eat.

But damn, it's a good hot dog…read more Admittedly, I avoided Yoyo's the cart for years, namely because I had hard time justifying an $8 hot dog that I would need to wait 40 minutes just to sniff. The wait is a non-factor at this location in POST Market (#1), which happens to be one of the best food stalls in their star studded lineup. The menu is literally just the hot dog and it's breakdown of ingredients. There are a few drink options on the menu from soda to lemonade, but that's it. It's a simple menu and I'm all for it. The hotdog ($8) was described to me by their hypeman behind the counter: "It will change your life." An excellent slogan indeed. The all-beef hot dog is sliced and grilled and topped with a combination of onions (fried + caramelized) with many drizzles of honey mayo, yoyo's hot sauce, and layer of cream cheese. It doesn't sound like something that works well together, but it does. The end result is that I want more than one, perhaps 2 or 3 in a sitting. I have been hearing how amazing this place is from a friend who has already eaten at this food truck three times...and they've only been open for about a week. When he told me that they were serving lunch at Inversion I had to go as their hours of operation are kinda erratic. We arrived around 12:40 PM and ordered the Bruised Peach and Parthenomnom. These aren't your typical Philly cheese steak sandwiches as each one has a twist. Parthenomnom: Man isn't that such a fun name to say! Anyways, it is their Mediterranean inspired steak sandwich topped with feta, Grecian pico, and tzatziki. It didn't really stand out to me but I liked their play on pico using a combination of cucumbers, tomatoes, and olives Bruised Peach: Oh man that peach!, after hearing this said almost daily by my friend I had to try it! I am not sure if it was hyped up too much for me but it did not meet my expectations, probably since they were too high? -Meat: Sliced ribeye. Sadly I received a lot of inedible pieces of fat and tendony pieces mixed with not so succulent slices of ribeye. My friend thinks it is because I got the end pieces. -Toppings: Peach chutney, bleu cheese, carm onion, and basil. This was a really odd combination to me but sounded interesting. The not so sweet peaches were marinated in chutney, but it was odd since the flavor of chutney came as an after affect? Haha again, my friend said the peaches he had last time were sooo sweet, and that this time probably just not the most ripe batch. The carm onion also lacked sweetness and even had a few that were charred. Lastly, I felt the flavor of the blue cheese overpowered the whole sandwich but could be because I like more mild cheeses but the basil was a nice garnish. -Bread: I love how they use local bread from Slow Dough, they are one of my favorite bread companies! Sadly, I felt the semolina bread tasted a bit stale today, but my friend said it could be because it was an old batch and when he had it the previous time tasted fresh, soft, and delicious. He also said that my sandwich overall tasted better the previous times and this was just an off day. Overall, I love the concept of this food truck, beautiful presentation of the steak sandwiches, and very interesting combinations to choose from. I don't know if it is worth the $9.50 price tag but something to try at least once. I don't think I will get these two sandwiches next time, but definitely interested in the Pho Dip. We actually tried to order one to go but they sold out of all their meat around 1:20 PM, speedy!

I've seen this truck a few times before and have been wanting to check it out to see what's what. A friend of mine recommended Third Coast, giving it a pretty glowing review of all things meaty. Today, the line was short, so it was now or never. There's a picture posted of the regular menu board that I glanced at when walking up to the truck before my attention was drawn to the white board with today's special: The Thunderdome. With a name like that, of course I'm going to try it. A quick review of the ingredients, chopped ribeye, grilled onions, sautéed mushrooms, jalapeños, and their mustard cheese sauce, solidified my decision. Oh, add-ons, you say? Gotta get my fried egg for the day! The girl who took my order was extremely sweet and commented on how the addition of the egg was going to make this sandwich extra delicious. I was excited. Only a few moments went by before my name was called and my gaze laid upon the sandwich I had so hastily, but confidently, chosen. It. Was. Beautiful. Piles of meat mixed with beautifully cooked onions and mushrooms, smothered in a hot yellow river of magical cheese sauce; and ever so delicately laid on top, a perfectly fried egg, yolk ready to burst and reveal an entirely new dimension of color and flavor over the already inspired lunch selection. My eyes teared in anticipation. Was the first bite going to deliver the promise that was made to my stomach? Yes. It absolutely did. Picking up the sandwich was not meant to be an easy task. The juice of the meat, cheese, and veggies tore through the perfectly crispy, yet soft insides of the french bread. The filling spilled out of the bottom, begging for forgiveness that it must wait for another bite before met the same fate as its comrades that remained between the slices of bread. I was not upset. In fact, I was quite happy to be able to try the medley of meat, onions, and mushrooms on their own, unadulterated by the delicious bread that the filling had escaped. The occasional jalapeño made its way into my mouth as I devoured the food equivalent of happiness, adding a bit of excitement with every bite. But what of the egg? The sandwich had been cut into two, and in preparation for my path to cheesesteak enlightenment, I moved the egg to the second half, saving its golden, creamy treasure for the second part of my experience. And I could not have been happier for doing so. A slight poke to the top of the egg allowed for the yolk to gush out enthusiastically over the entire last half of the sandwich. I had thought the first bite I took of my sandwich was the apex of my meal. It wasn't. The addition of the egg not only lent itself as another flavor to liven the mix, but it seemed to organize the flavors into something... Elevated. It was like I was speaking to a higher being. The sandwich itself was the cross, and the egg the Messiah. I was saved. My only recommendation to you, potential patron, is to be prepared to make a mess. With every bite, it seems the sandwich produces more of the steak-veggie concoction than it started with. Wait until the very end of your journey before using your napkins as you'll want to lick you fingers clean of the juices from the meal; why waste perfectly good flavor on the unappreciative bundles of paper? They serve only as chains to your dedication to civilization, so break free! And live as a beast as you gorge on your feast. Allow yourself the freedom to express your love for food, and the meal from Third Coast will reciprocate your kindness by offering you the momentary bliss that can only be found when eating something you love.

A big open lot with some food trucks and 2 random benches. Makes for a good late night dining spot after a night out. Standard hot chicken lineup with the sandwich, strips, combo, fries. I liked the halal options. The wrap with turnips did entice me a bit but went for the Sandwich + a side order of pecked fries. The service was efficient, got it out in about 10minutes. I liked the curry seasoning to the fries, the chicken was battered well and had a solid crunch/flavor. The sandwich itself is also a straightforward classic = standard brioche bun + pickles for garnish and a decent sized breast. I would say the "yummy sauce" is just a bit overwhelming for me, it's just everywhere when I unwrapped the sandwich.. It was a bit too creamy for my taste. Overall I liked the chicken and the menu for being halal, it was cooked well and the adjustable spice level is nice. But the Yummy sauce is sort of a miss for me. Not sure what's in it but too rich, 3.5/5, didn't quite stand out for me.

Maybe even better than Yoyo's as it felt like more time was devoted to my dog... Salty, perfectly charred, with the fatty flavors of mayo and spicy condiments and the signature fried onions, I loved it! A little later, I checked out their website and it turns out they ARE related to Yoyo's. Let me begin by saying the atmosphere of the store was best described as abandoned. No one at the front to greet and no patrons. There was no music or sound at all in the entire restaurant which was a little creepy but it was late so we figured it was close to close (they didn't close for five hours we later found out). When we got our food we were incredibly disappointed, one hot dog was missing key components and the elote was true crime to humanity. I genuinely don't know how you can be a business in Houston and not know how to make a elote. It had almost no Mayo on it and had Parmesan cheese....they also had some toppings listed as options (specifically the pickled red onions which were a main part of the brisket dog) which they were out of stock of. The attendant told us specifically "we don't have that at this location". The saving grace of the meal were the bottled beverages which were incredible, but also entirely not of the establishment and I don't want to credit them with another businesses hard earned rave review. Overall we are rarely disappointed by hot dogs, an item in and of itself which is hard to mess up. Now looking at other yelp reviews it seems we aren't the only ones who were expecting a little more. We won't make a repeat visit, but hopefully the business can attempt to fix some things for other patrons in the future.

We ordered the flight - 4 piece sampler and were quite disappointed when everything tasted the same. No real change in flavors between the 4. We also got the Wheeler Loaded fries and thats really what stole the show. Definitely flavorful with plenty of different components that just made it work. Plenty of space, but definitely order ahead to skip the long wait.
