Oldie but goodie. Used to go there all the time when I lived closer. Was driving by Yiassoo this weekend and had to stop by for old times sake after around 8 years. They still had the same cashier. Reminded me of Nat from the Peach Pit in 90210...Maybe not. They still have great food. The top two gyros I have ever had. The super gyros has a lot of meat, feta cheese and other goodies. How good is this place? Good enough to write a review while still eating their food! After visiting a friend at Good Samaritan Hospital, my husband and I wanted something to eat. I chose this place on a whim and we decided to enjoy a delicious Greek lunch. This place has rightfully earned a solid 4 star rating. Customer service? 4 stars. We were greeted upon entrance and told thank you when we let. We didn't have any questions about the menu, but I overheard the cashier politely explain the menu to another patron. My husband brought our food out to us (we sat outside), but one of the employees brought out food to other people. Cleanliness? 4 stars. The tables and floors were spic and span and the kitchen looked to be in good condition. Call me crazy, but it grosses me out when bottles of sauce are encrusted with dried up sauce (i.e. ketchup bottles with red gunk on/around lids). This restaurant had the bottles in good condition. Now, what you've all been waiting for... The food? 5 stars. Fresh, tasty/flavorful, and made to order. We both orders gyro plates. My husband was expecting a plain gyro. I knew what to expect because I checked out the picture on Yelp. The gyros came dressed with onions, feta, yogurt sauce, and tomatoes. The lamb was tender!!! I loved it so, so much. I told my husband while eating, "I feel so happy!" That says a lot about my relationship with food, but I don't caaaaaarrrrreee! The fries! Ohhhhh. Crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. The Greek salad was a smorgasbord of deliciousness---tomatoes, cucumbers, kalamata olives, feta cheese, and love. No real problem here, but not worth coming back, since there is a lot of much better Greek and Mediterranean food in the area. Hummus was a strange color and heavily sesame. I'll try to fix it at home by adding a can of garbanzo beans whipped in, maybe with a bit of lemon juice. Salads were quite nice, with lots of feta. Moussaka was pretty good, eggplant based with no potatoes. Plenty of ground beef and a decent bechamel on top. A bit greasy, but not bad. Served with the salad and French fries, requested crispy, and were. Falafel plate was mostly a falafel sandwich with salad and fries, requested crispy and were not. How they managed to serve two so different orders of fries, ordered identically on the same order is a mystery. Falafel seemed very dry and almost crumbly. I challenge you, nay, DARE you to show me a place with gyros this cheap and this tasty. You can't, haha I thought so. If you get your order to go, you may need to re-hydrate because your mouth will be salivating so bad whilst your car seat is consumed with the smell of fresh gyros, french fries and whatever else you order from their menu. Tried this place out tonight and it was pretty yummy! I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki Plate with rice and a greek salad on the side. Must not forget the greens! =) I walked in for a to go order. I wanted to call in my order but on the site it described the Chicken Souvlaki Plate as a chicken like sandwich which didn't make sense to me. Since we wanted to get our order right we just walked in and took it to go. It was really good I could have finished the whole plate but decided to save a little treat for myself later. Locate on the corner of S.Bascom Ave & Shady Dale Ave, this little place is a gem to come for the gyros and baklava (well, it's not the best baklava like my friend Tahmina baked, but it's the best place where I can go to get my fix). We came here last Tuesday 7/22 for dinner at 6:35pm and it was my choice to pick this place. We ordered: Hummus Gyros sandwich Combination Salad (lamb, beef, chicken & pork) Baklava Avgolemono soup (chicken, lemon, eggs, rice) What got my attention most is the gyros and the cucumber yogurt sauce. I ordered the combination salad but after a couple of bites, I turned to Hubby's gyros sandwich and started tasting his gyros and it was AWESOME! I wished I had ordered the gyros salad instead. I didn't care for any BBQ meat on my plate. The chicken was too dry for my taste and nothing special about the beef, lamb or pork. I do like their baklava. I saved it for the next morning to eat it with my hot Afghan tea and it was nice. It does not swimming in the syrup like most places and I would get it again next time I am there for the gyros salad. The cucumber yogurt sauce was awesome as well. Its look wasn't inviting to me but when I dipped my pita bread into it, oh boy, it tasted so good. Always loved the good food here. Unfortunately, they had to raise prices and it is no longer as affordable. What used to cost $14 is now $17, a 22% increase. When you order several dishes for a family in a single meal, it quickly adds up. So We won't be going there as often. Probably explore other options. read more

One of my favorite Greek fast food places in the area. The gyros are really good - only thing I don't like is that they don't put feta on the gyros (I thought that was standard everywhere?) Usually I get a the gyro platter which comes with a side salad and I take the feta from that and put it on my gyro :) I think they put it on the super gyros though. The fries are usually really yummy, but came here this week and they were really gross - greasy and soggy. I thought it was just a one time thing but from some of the recent reviews it sounds like these are the new fries.. Hope not. Chocolate baklava is tasty. Prices are really cheap, service is quick. LOVE LOVE LOVE greek food! Wow! I first tried Opa in LG then wanted to look for a cheaper alternative and found Yiassoo courtesy of Yelp, in Campbell! Yay!! I've tried the Gryo burger and the greek salad. Both are A+'s. I've tried the greek salad at Opa, and maybe they changed it since then (like last year) or I ordered the wrong "kind" of salad, but it was gross... at Yiassoo it's just like the kind I expect and crave: chopped tomatoes, olives, onions, cucumbers, feta cheese and some other stuff lol. MMm. Gyro burger is jam packed with seasoned meat and some kind of sauce. My guy thought he was gonna hate the food, but finally gave in and tried it once he realized it was practically next door to his house, and suddenly could not stop talking about how amazing the meat was flavored and how tasty and etc. Haha. These gyro burgers are just as good as Opa, I wish I could have the seasoned fries like Opa too... but alas Yiassoo fries are not seasoned :( Anyways, great place, pretty cozy, looks like some random fast food place, and it kind of is, but its AMAZING too. read more

I've been coming to this place since the late 90's. This is wonderful Greek food, most of it very, very authentic! They have good Greek retsina here, and always a Greek beer or 2 as an option. Now to the food, you will be hard pressed to find a better Gyro anywhere. Wonderful tzatziki sauce, garlicky and generous. The sliced gyro meat tastes great, the pita is soft and wonderful!! Great little salad and fries. Their 1/2 chicken dinner is beyond delicious and one of my favorite things. I have tried the moussaka and its also terrific. Their loukoumades (Greek honey balls) are worth ruining your diet for. I still will drive to his location even though it's out of my way as I don't live in Campbell anymore. I have come here for a number of years. Good food. Usually get the gyro plate and my wife gets the suvalaki plate. Service is fine but you do have to remind them for extra napkins. Take out is pretty much always on time. I would recommend this place for tasty Greek food. read more

I think I prefer the Cupertino location over this one.. but they still have the best pita bread in town, IMO... and I still love their gyro sandwich (probably because of the soft puffy fluffy pillowy pita bread)... I do think that the salads could use more meat (MOAR MEATS!) and maybe less out of season tomatoes. Out of season tomatoes make me sad. Cherry tomatoes perhaps? Falafel are just ok. I prefer a lighter, crispier falafel. Awesome customer service, though.. and the loukemades and chocolate baklava are delicious. read more

Of the handful of places that serve up gyros, this is the best of the bunch. They give you a nicely browned gyro meat, packed in a pita with the right thickness. The service is always good and the restaurant is kept clean and well-maintained. We have one of the popular chain Greek places closer to our home but Yiassoo is one of our favorite gyro places. No frills, good food, good greek beer and friendly service. I've only ever eaten the Gyros here, and so that's what my review is based on. These have to be the best Gyros I've ever tasted in San Jose; if you think you know of a better place, PLEASE tell me. MMMMMMM, Yiasoo..... Ok, so I am Greek. 3rd generations so a lot has left out family EXCEPT the food. I love home style Greek food. Yiasoo is just that. If I get a hankering for something my Yiayia would make, I come down to Yiasoo. I'm am SO sad they don't make pastitso anymore but the rest of the menu is yummy. Yummy falafel balls. They are green and moist from inside and crisp on the out. I usually get a side order of falafels as a snack or part of a meal. $3.25 for 7 balls makes it a good deal. We've been here twice in a week. The first time, I got the super gyro. Get the super gyro! It's full of awesome goodness! I couldn't stay away for very long. I had to come back and try something else, so tonight I got the lamb salad. The meat and veggies were incredible and the portion size was almost big enough to feed two people. We LOVE this place. We've been coming here at least once or twice a month for about 10 years or so. The food is for the most part (except for a few bakery items) prepared fresh when you order it, it's hot and super tasty. The people who work there are very nice and the outdoor seating area is lovely (although, fair warning the benches are cold tile so they are a little hard to sit on) and the indoor seating is well laid out and comfy. You get a lot of food for your money here, and they have no problem with special requests (at least not any I've ever made) The lamb souvlaki plate is my favorite. The spanikopita is fantastic and the gyros are great. I haven't ever tried the desserts but my friends have and they say they're pretty good. Also, get the meals that come with fries, they actually make pretty good french fries here. I strongly recommend this place. I've lived in the area for over 20 years and even worked in the Prune Yard but I never stopped at Yiassoo. After tonight, I really regret that poor decision on my part. Boy have I been missing out. Very well maintained landscaping, and good amount of parking in the back and along the side street. There were several tables filled on the outside patio with customers having very lively conversations and obviously enjoying their meal. I stepped inside and was surprised how busy it was. Most of the tables were filled with couples and families devouring their meals. It's a small place, no frills and you order at the counter. I don't know for sure but I think it's family run. Two older gentleman were doing the cooking and a very nice young lady was taking orders. I ordered two Super Gyros, a side of sinziki and two baklava. Oh and a glass of wine while I waited for the order to-go. Wine was ick but I drank it. lol Super Gyros - HUGE!!! Way to much for one person but oh man it'll be yummy for lunch tomorrow. Meat was seasoned well, tender and just plain ol good. Pita was warm, soft and the perfect meat holder. Sinziki - Yes I know there was some of this already on the Gyro but come on, you can never have to much. Garlicky, tangy, cool goodness. Baklava - small but yummy. Sweet, flaky, nutty exactly what you'd expect. The Hubby and I both agree that this beats Pizza night any day. I'm looking forward to exploring the rest of the menu. read more

Fancied something different for lunch today and ventured to this place for for the first time. Called in order ahead and it was promptly waiting for me. Had the regular gyros with side of two sauces : of course the cucumber sauce was amazing! My colleague ordered a side of fries ( which were NOT great) but hey, I am not going to fault a Greek restaurant for crummy fries! Reasonably priced at $6.95, the gyros Was yummy and filling! I love this place! They have Gyro of all sizes: Gyro Sandwich, Super Gyro (sandwich plus 1 side) or the Gyro plate (which comes with 2 sides). Or you can get a gyro salad if you are on a no carb diet. Either way, it all depends on how hungry you are when come here. Service is efficient and the people are friendly. Food is fresh and delicious. There is parking in the back or on the side street. Never had a problem finding parking. Oh and the price isn't bad at all for the amount of food you get.
