Great food, Friendly service [Chloride AZ] It was around 11:30a when we walked inside to grab a bite to eat... actually, it was already 12:30p (AZ is ahead by an hour from NV) well, it's no wonder my tummy is saying "feed me." Located in the historic town of Chloride AZ we walked inside a building that took us back in time, an authentic 1860's era Old West structure with a full bar onsite. Originally it used to be a stagecoach repair shop where stagecoaches can stop by for a quick repair but it has been renovated since while keeping the old charm and character. Loved the historic atmosphere. There were a few items we wanted to try but ended up ordering Fish & Chips and Grilled Cheese. The homemade fries tasted nice and crunchy. Since I ate most of the fries I was only able to eat one fish filet. Luckily, nothing is wasted... hubby was there to rescue the other two filets and the hush puppies too LoL! The food was great! I got the BLT and it was prepared perfectly, and the sweet potato fries were not too much or too little greasy and was delicious. Service was very fine. I had no idea there was anything even in the town of Chloride, AZ but it is actually a pretty cool place. There is a lot of yard art to be seen sat most homes. There is a place that does the classic gun fight in the street reenactments (more on that later). And there is an asuming restaurant to grab a good bite to eat. A small group of us stopped into Yesterday's Restaurant for lunch after a road/off road trip to see some petroglyphs and other sites in the southern nevada/northwest Arizona area. The worn wood floor. The visible wooden trusses in the roof. This place brings the old vibes. And a solid menu. We all got burgers. I ordered a mushroom burger. A respectible burger. Perhaps not the best mushroom burger I've had but a good size and good flavor. Not enough mushrooms for my liking. But they were there and they were good. The fries on the side were thicker cut and well seasoned. A bit on the salty side but they still went down pretty easily. Yesterday's serves dessert too. We did not get any dessert but we were offered ice cream or chocolate cake. They have an actual ice cream counter with more than just chocolate and vanilla. Maybe 10 flavors or so that I could see. This was a good lunch. And to think we almost didn't stop. Why? Because we heard gunshots that made us nervous. City slickers - am I right? We quickly realized it was just the gun fight show at the Cyanide Springs ghost town museum/park place. The gun fight would come into play a little later. Our waitress never brought the check and basically disappeared. For several minutes we were left just sitting at the table. Finally one of the other customers, a local, explained that the waitress was left in the kitchen to do the cooking while the cooks were outside trying to catch their dog which had run off down the street for fear of the gun fight. Small town problems. So we patiently waitied for our waitress to finish her double duty and come back up front and let us pay. A friend and I drove to Chloride, Arizona to see the Roy Purcell murals that were painted on a cliff side in 1966. Purcell returned in 2006 and repainted them. This was my 3rd visit to Chloride, considered a ghost town, althoiugh it really isn't. Mining and cattle raising are still evident throughout the large area albeit sparsely populated place. My last visit in 2018 was just to see the murals with friends and then back to Laughlin where the four of us were staying. On my first trip in 2008, I stopped at Yesterday's for breakfast after viewing the murals. Fast forward to 2021. A friend who had never heard of Chloride wanted to see what I had talked about a few times. We viewed the murals and then went to search for abandoned mines. Success on both pursuits as well as seeing 4 free range cattle. We drove to Yesterday's and my companion decided that we should stop there. She had been hesitant until she saw the amount of cars that were there. The place is officially Yesterday's Steakhouse and Shep's Miners Inn. The restaurant and inn were constructed in the mid to late 1800s of adobe from mud and sand from nearby washes. The walls are 12 inch thick blocks. When you enter, it's like stepping back in time. The interior has some murals and is very western rustic. Wood floors, wood tables and chairs, and two hanging chandeliers. There was one table that had about 16 people eating. I think they were with the motorcycles out front. The server had a lot to do. She was working the restaurant by herself. She brought us the iced teas we ordered. Large mugs filled with good tea. We each ordered one of the day's lunch specials, fish and chips. After serving the large group, our lunch came out. I'm sure it was frozen fish merely reheated. If I were reviewing this place for just the food, it would be 3 stars. The atmosphere, the service, and the entertainment at lunch easily kick it up to four. There was an older man who sang and played his homemade bass. The microphone was taped to a walking stick--most probably a dried agave shoot. He sang in a low voice so conversation was easy. He did a Kenny Rogers song and when we clapped, he did another one. Chloride is a great place to visit. Lots of history, lots of oddities in yards, and those wonderful murals. I had this place on my list of places o check out for a while so today was the day to travel to Chloride and try Yesterdays. I ordered the mushroom Swiss cheese burger and it met my expectations. The French fries on the side looked like they came from two separate batches, some were dry and others soggy. I i finished off lunch with a big scoop of ice cream and left the polite young lady taking my order a $10 tip. As the place is sorta out of the way from where I live this eatery won't be on my list of frequent places to visit, but I'll defiantly be back again. read more

We frequently drive from Northern Nevada to Northern Arizona to visit family and have seen the Chloride sign many times. This trip we were starving and looked on Apple maps for places to eat and saw this 4.5 star restaurant a few miles off of the highway and took a chance. Boy are we glad we did! It will now be a destination every trip. It reminds me a lot of Middlegate Station on Hwy 50 in Nevada. Really nice people, cool old western ambiance and amazing burgers. Worth the drive. Even if I lived in Vegas (yuck) I would drive here to eat. I had the Covid burger - pepper jack cheese, siracha mayo and jalapeños on a fancy bun. The burger is obviously house made - thick and juicy. The fries were hand cut and seasoned perfectly with salt AND pepper. So yummy! Afterwards we walked around the town and now understand the previous review about the gun fight! The owner was talking about a murder mystery dinner she is hosting soon. I so wish I could attend. This place is a perfect venue for a fun event like that! Can't wait to return. And tell everyone I know that travels this long (and not so lonely anymore) road that Chloride and Yesterdays is a must stop! read more

What a place! I have been here twice now for lunch. The first time we brought the Mustang Club and they found a way to seat 18 of us with no problems. The food was excellent, and everyone was happy with their order. The service for our large party was excellent! Many separate checks, no issues. Everyone that had a burger of some sort was thrilled with the meat. Two months later, today I went back. I took my guests from Winnipeg Canada along to get away from Las Vegas. We enjoyed the town, but were unable to drive all the way to the murals due to the recent storm damage to the road. I told them it was ok, we really came for lunch.. It was a big hit. One friend had to show me her Patty Melt and exclaimed "Look at that!" She was so impressed with the size and quality of the patty she kept talking about it. Her husband had the Oinker, and was just as impressed. My wife and I both had Chloride burgers, and the quality was just as before. Very tasty. Unique and historical stop on our road trip to Sedona. We enjoyed the people ( everyone knows each other) they were friendly and informative about the town history. We did stay at the inn and it was small and cozy with complimentary snacks and cable TV and DVD movies. There is no reason to visit Chloride, AZ. It is not a ghost town, but rather a small retirement and art community set among junk sculptures and moderately scenic mountains. There are a few old buildings, and some murals a mile plus away on a very rough dirt road, but that's it. Oh, I forgot, there is one reason to visit Chloride. It's called "Yesterdays Restaurant". We ate breakfast there, or should I say "experienced" breakfast there. Yesterdays is housed in an old western-style building with old-style wood tables, mixed chairs, and a friendly (almost bubbly) server. When the sunlight percolated through the kitschy decorations hanging by the front window, I felt that I was back around 1900 and my car outside was actually a horse. The food was good too -- standard breakfast fare cooked particularly well. The eggs and potatoes were merely fine, but the coffee was far above diner average, the sausage patty was tasty, the bacon was smokey (give me more of it, please), and the English muffin was superb -- wherever did they get it? If you are in a hurry, or want fancy stuff, don't come here. Otherwise, it's worth a small revision to your travel plans to arrive at breakfast time. This place is a hidden gem. It's in a very very small town. You would not expect to find a restaurant like this in such a small town. But I had the best omelette ever. Driving S on our way to Phoenix. Decided to stop for a late breakfast, and decided to help out a small business during this COVID-19 stuff. Never stopped on Chloride before. Restaurant and restrooms were clean. Only one other customer. Staff was friendly and helpful. I had the veggie omelet, home fries, and sourdough toast. Food was hot, well cooked. I went to yesterday's in chloride and had some fabulous french toast for breakfast and some coffee. The French toast was great period it was cooked perfect. to me this means a lot because I have ordered French toast many times and just have received soggy bread. The French toast was seasoned just right amount of cinnamon. Tammy, the host / waitress is just phenomenal. period. she was very friendly and I really enjoyed speaking with her. I really look forward to going back and try other parts of the menu. Tammy also let me know that they do karaoke there on fridays. Yay! OH what a night! We decided rather last minute to go visit Yesterday's restaurant in Chloride. They have new owners and wow is it a fun place to go. We went for the karaoke with Brenda and David H. hosting that activity. High energy hosting with a variety of songs and folks to sing them. It was very entertaining. Since it was Father's Day there was a prime rib special. Oh what a fantastic dinner. Perfect portions of prime rib, cooked just the way you would like it, with some veggies and a baked spud. Oh and a root beer float that was very tasty! Reminded me of sassparilla (sarsaparilla) not sure how to spell it, that was a soda from long ago! Much like the town itself, classic mining town with sprinkles of newness here and there. Since it was Father's Day I decided we needed to take a break. We stayed at Shep's Miners Inn. It is charming, clean, seems like fresh paint, updated tile and carpet, a comfortable bed and new AC units. The history of the vintage property is amazing. Reasonable rates which included breakfast at Yesterday's, which was delicious! read more

This might have been one of my favorite stops while I stayed in Chloride. The food was amazing. I dined with four other of my friends and everything from the Meatloaf, to the Chicken Fried Steak to the chili and even a Veggie Burger was amazing. As a lover of French Fries - I think I could have eaten another helping because they were so good. As a bonus they do have a full bar - which - they don't play around when it comes to making a good, stiff drink. The service was on point - I don't know if they could have made me feel anymore at home while I was there. I hope to come back to Yesterday's in the future. I am just a 3 star...the staff was great..great experience....but they could use real help for the bar and food! Dolly so cute, her daughter lovely! But who frys giant pickle spears? Doesn't toast the bread for a blt or use spice? Who does not teach someone really amazing simple drinks! Food HuGe!!!!!! Flavor drink flat...ladies awesome, town great.. oh and no supper!!!!! Greasy food, thrown on the plates with no care whatsoever and although the waitress was nice enough a man working there was very rude and wouldn't stop staring at us. I don't know what his problem was but it made all 5 of us uncomfortable and we hurried out of there before finishing our meal. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I stopped in on a Sunday just passing through while looking for property... Service was excellent and the history of the establishment was just a intriguing. Turns out we were dining in a old stagecoach repair shop which would be basically a service station garage by today's standards. I asked the waitress what the special was and she said shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo. I must say it was delicious! The owner came out and asked how everything was. I wanted to see the General store after lunch but it was closed so will have to make a trip back on a Saturday... definitely worth turning off the highway to check out this quaint little town. Well, I have mixed feelings about this place. It was a unique, off the beaten path, place to visit, it has an extensive menu from burgers, quesadillas to peanut butter and bologna sandwiches. Also had live music and a very nice server. However, the food wasn't very good. I ordered a quesadilla and fried pickles, it was ok, nothing delicious or special, tasted like something I could have easily made at home or picked up at a gas station. One of my friends ordered a tuna sandwich and soup and had to ask what certain ingredients were in the soup and said there was too much mayo for her to even bite into the sandwich. None of us finished. When we got our bills the bottom of the receipt said something about making America great again, Trump! I thought this was inappropriate and my friend, of a different race, felt she was out of place and was uncomfortable. It was a unique experience, visiting the town or overall, the old decor and the menu gave us giggles. But does go to show they are stuck in small town ways. They even had a burger meant to bash our current president on the menu. Seemed inappropriate to voice their political views. Wanting and needing tourists to survive, I think it's disrespectful to run an establishment this way. Long drive, tired, middle of nowhere...sorry Arizona, but this one is not on your top 10 city list...and hungry. There's a signpost up ahead...next stop the Twilight Zone. At least it felt that way. Chloride is the name of the town, population 346, prospectors, and nice folks, just four miles up the paved roadway. On the way into the establishment a gentleman in a black rhinestone studded black sport coat passed by us. Seemed a bit out of place. It was Friday night, the full menu was fairly extensive, but it was all you could eat fried fish and onion rings night. Yep, all you could eat. It was delicious. I mean excellent for beer batter fried fish and rings. They offer 120 brands of brew to cool you off. The place was very large, and mostly empty, then a group came in and grabbed a table, then another and another. The fish must be famous. The place pretty well filled up in 30 minutes. The guy in the sport coat came back in. Turned on his music machine, and began to sing all varieties of tunes. He is good enough to sing anywhere. He pulled on a red bandana with two long gray braids and sang, you guessed it, Willie Nelson. Twilight Zone is right, he even sounded like Willie at his best. We got up and danced like the rest of the crowd. We felt like locals. If you see a sign post up ahead, and it says Chloride, the welcome mat is out, the food is good, and the entertainment, terrific! read more

Well worth the drive! This place has it all...great, home-cooked food, fascinating history, and one of the best waitresses in the west, Crystal. Ask her anything about the restaurant, the town, or the great food. She's a wealth of knowledge. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon with the Karaoke Competition in full swing (real local flavor, many of the singers were pretty darn good). I had heard of their famous chili and half-pound burgers so that's what I ordered. I was NOT disappointed. The food here is so delicious! But don't think that this is just a burger joint, no way...they have a little of everything.
